some tonics were useful to me in hiding from enemies in wvw ( except for that one deer incident in the caves, where I got a little too bold lol – but i digress ). – and there is hardly anyone ever hanging out in LA roleplaying. I don’t see how this is worth 24 gold of supplies to make.
so after dying a series of horrible deaths , I found myself with 2 infinite krait recipes… I was excited because I thought I’d have enough money in selling one in tp for gold to finish getting my crafter to 500. – then i saw it went for like 2.5 silver in tp….ok so then I said, well maybe i can make the tonic to sell – but that would cost 5+ gold in elonian wine 16 gold in armored scales, 3.8 gold in toxic spores and 3 bloodstone bricks – totaling over 24 in gold – …… it’s account bound so I can’t sell it ….. now from what I’ve read, i can’t use it for costume brawl, I can’t use it to camouflage myself near sm in wvw, in order to use it as a disguise in wvw, I’d have to surround myself around other toxic kraits that will kill me since I can’t do anything in that mode other than walk around….
why would i want to turn into a toxic krait ?
I don’t get it.
character alignments -
Good – gets easier game play, lesser drops but lesser sudden death type scenarios
Neutral – gets mid level – better drops than good – with more challenges
Evil – it’s not easy being evil….it really isn’t. – but the pay is good.
you can break it down further similar to older games using that system – it could also be interesting for future pvp events ^.^ ( and of course roleplay )
Lawful Good – i obey the law in all cases.
Neutral Good – i want to do the right thing, even if it means bending the law.
Chaotic Good – I’m above the law because my cause is just!
Lawful Neutral – I’m on probation, and don’t want to get arrested again.
Neutral – i mind my business and act how I please.
Chaotic Neutral* – Let’s get this party started!!
Lawful Evil – I’m greedy and a lawyer -grin-
Neutral Evil – it’s all about me.
Chaotic Evil – Death is good!!

lol!! – i was saying the same thing with wvw – someone is not playing with a full deck…
“make the servers competitive and form completely unbalanced leagues….They will LOVE it!!” -twitch-
“insta-kills for no apparent reason, yeah…that’s hot!!”
(edited by Ricky.4706)
I agree.
Also their computer should explode.
Rofl!! hahaha!! that’s the spirit!! – wasn’t there a horror movie like that, people played a haunted video game, and if they lost in the game, they were haunted / hunted down in real life or lost their souls or something like that ? – That would most certainly balance out the game and get people to play well together!! ^.^
“soulbound” mode! if you lose, you become an in game npc for all eternity! O.o
anet can hire a real witchdoctor to put a curse on losers! lol!!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
but that’s the current problem, for a good ‘raid’ you need teamwork, people are running to the end of the instance, killing the boss and saying they are the best.
you can’t mix casual players with extreme players and expect good teamwork.
but think of the bragging rights of finishing such a dungeon with your eternity ? – besides you know most will vault their items before going in and probably use ascended items instead. – say your character gets deleted by losing all it’s levels and items – but keeping the name – a reincarnation if you will.
what they want are bragging rights more than anything else – they’ve conquered everything else in their 12 hour a day / 7 day a week gaming sprees
roll over and take it….
is that what you think is representative of anet’s “philosophy” ?
and honestly, i really enjoy the game art – sometimes I just want to play through for the adventure and sightseeing ….not really the loot – yes the loot is a perk but it’s not the whole fun of playing the game.
ya, stuff like that – but i still say a hardcore mode for those that never learn lol.
just give like 3 or 4 “are you really absolutely and completely sure you want to do this ?” before they enter ……..hopefully after they lose enough characters they will just want to have fun with everyone else and stop ego tripping.
but I hear masochists enjoy this type of thing.
ya they do lol…and since they can’t beat the living kitten out of themselves, they complain about everyone else having it easy. They really should be playing with their own kind in extremely torturous and very painful levels so they can be happy ? lol
the problem is there is a mix of casual vs hardcore players on the same field making the game chaotic.
The hardcore players want to critique everyone for not being as extreme as them, they should have an extreme version of entry – so people who don’t feel the same aren’t forced to play the same way.
a person who plays 2 – 3 hours every other day shouldn’t be forced to play at the same level with people who play 8-12 hours a day.
So rather than say get rid of the 8-12 hour a day extreme gamer – why not give them their own region and stop mixing everyone else into it ?
no one HAS to join, but it will put a curb on many mouths and stop anet from making the rest of the game built around a few suggestions from unusual players.
again, no one HAS to join, but it’s appeasing to that audience.
So, yes, Just yes. leave part of the game for casual normal players.
a lot of players tend to rush to ends of areas to finish off final bosses and grab loot – then run on to brag about how easy it was. It’s not how all of us would like to play.
So I suggest a hardcore mode for that audience – if you die at all in that instance, your character and all it’s items get deleted. Finishing that dungeon has bigger payoffs – no resurrecting – when you die…you die. Then at least it will convert their griefing into actual bragging rights and keep them away from people who want to play normally.
agreed, – i’m not really interested in rushing through – but with everyone just trying to run through and these constant non stop spawns and instant deaths – there really is never a group to work with to go up levels – unless you want to get stuck farming the same areas for hours until maybe a few people stop to help clear the way. The game would be much more fun if people didn’t try to sprint their way to the last areas – which is the common pve headset. there really isn’t any rpg value in it, just a bunch of players who want loot, they don’t want a fun gaming adventure – just bragging rights. like i said, it’s not even worth complaining about when half the problem is the actual players.
heh, at this point that scares me – another non pvp distraction. save your mats because you are going to have to grind like crazy to get armor if you want to wvw in unbalanced matches, and be ready to spend tons of gold you don’t have to level up your crafters. can we say no thank you, please keep it away ?
i’ve been trying to get into it, but those instant deaths are just weird, it’s not even frustrating anymore – just plain “why am I doing this ?” lol – I managed to get to the end of the first level once and I saw a golem, clicked his choice, – it sent me back to beginning and I’ve been instantly dying since. – getting tired of complaining so I’m not going to but seems like everywhere I try to have fun there is some crazy issue – either with crafting, wvw , and even pve – not sure who they made this game for, but I’m starting to feel it’s just not for me as I find myself playing less and less. :/ I pretty much log on now to do dailies and try to finish them up as fast as possible because it’s feeling more like work than fun lol.
Not complaining though, just seems like it’s not worth doing that either.
now all they have to do is give the foods interesting names to make this thread really creepy.
“I eat cow pies for good defense, my guildmates like cesspool salad”
“Could Anet help with population balancing?”
not without really upsetting at least 1 person.
“Balanced fights are OP!!!!! Why Anet, Whyyyyyyyy?!?!”
lol :p
no, as mentioned earlier – wvw is already a major gold sink – and the money it generates isn’t enough – especially if you want to build your magic find.
Further it will make an already hard game for mismatched / unbalanced fights for players that constantly have to keep recapturing land that they get stomped for miserable and not worth playing.
feel free to send me the 50 plat though whenever you feel guilty about taking forts.
Remove score and www is balanced.
this!
then we get to watch the blob wonder why they spent the last 8 hours in que.
it’d be a riot!
maybe siege packs that come in bundles of 500 ? I’m sure those would sell quick because I read about people buying them all the time with gems, so that would be a consistent sale. That wouldn’t be paying to win, that would be convenience.
trying to find a good balance between criticizing and helping :p
honestly, i get the grindy stuff – it’s fun to build and keep building your character- the only thing that gets me about grind is when you want stuff ‘only’ for pvp in wvw – if it were just for pve – that would be cool – because then it would be a symbol of accomplishment, not a stat advantage.
If anet actually sold just the effects in pvp /wvw for an spvp type locker – that would be great because it has nothing to do with stats – and would add eye candy to the game.
hrmpf, considering that anet just made the infinite soulbound harvesting tools accountbound,
I figured if I could complain about stuff I don’t like, I could say thank you when they do stuff I do like…
and even add a thread to add clues to things a wvw’r would buy -
wvw is all about fashion, so anything fashion related that would make us look ghetto fabulous in wvw would be great -
Hint: nothing would be cooler than having a whole guild dressed as chef’s and stomping in wvw
another thing that we like doing – is celebrating epic fights -
other day someone dropped some fireworks and we all started a major display of fireworks after winning a 3 way battle in sm.
another time I saw someone pulling out a radio and started dancing after we took sm – was the cutest thing in the world with an asuran.
we love to fight – but we love funny, cute and awwwwwwww – kind of stuff.
i personally love flying my kite when zerging -
Make a parachute that opens up when we jump off cliffs – that would be fun!!
novelty stuff that helps us laugh / celebrate and just look insanely cool. Not so much in just weaponskins because you hardly notice that in battle unless it’s super flamboyant – but you will notice 50 people dressed like chefs or the mad king.
maybe make some pets that are more interactive – I often pull out a pet that is as tall as me just to make the enemy think it’s another target – a mini that pretends to be another player would be great. He just runs around the enemy and acts as a decoy.
he can run around doing “Taunting moves” lol…that would be hilarious.
ahh, thanks for explaining why bandwaggoners have no server loyalty.
just tell em they were obviously about to get destroyed and didn’t stand a chance of winning, so you decided to save them because they obviously didn’t have the skills or equipment to win, then hit their opponent with a bunny finishing move and move on.
ok, I just reviewed the monty python rules for pvp -
you kill them both, if they get upset, then it was a 1v1 -
reference -

right, ping pong matches in the middle of a soccer game ……
-sips coffee through nose and stuffs a donut in his ear-
Makes perfekt sense!
now all we need is zhaitan to make a cameo appearance to do the running man dance in mid battle!!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
the mystic fountain drops shouldn’t compete vs crafters.
I’ll just have to put a straw in my coffee and sip it through my nose to flow with the crowd!
wow! -smh-
Paladins = knights = guardians = all the same concept – different underwear.
a man wearing 44 lbs of metal – can run faster than someone wearing silk…..Right!!
an inherent weakness ? nowhere in the lore does it say mesmers were born bowlegged. You figure wearing silk for armor – the first thing they’d teach you in mesmer school is how to run ….and fast!
on tp parts – it’s actually cheaper to buy computer parts to assemble than buy a prebuilt computer – because the pre-built has extra parts you don’t need.
wvw is a wrestling match between a sumo wrestler and a wrestler from elementary school – who’d win ?! – ok everyone, act surprised!!
I’m glad you find this stuff logical – but it’s illogical!!
and yes, the way to have fun is to simply not have any feelings about it or regard to logic – hence psychotic!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
yep, a pvp locker is needed in wvw – but instead it’s pulling into the pve grind game. I’m a mesmer in light armor that moves slower than a constipated yak, so I’m looking for any extra points I can get to compete with warriors and paladins whom wear heavy armor and move faster than an ostrich on 50 cappuccinos, and thieves that are visible long enough to stab you and stay invisible while running just as fast.
My brain hurts from trying to figure out how to play this game normally.
it appears you have to be psychotic to get the “Best Gaming Experience”
(edited by Ricky.4706)
wvw is a competitive league based on imbalanced teams ….the only way to afford a legendary is to either buy a few hundred dollars in gems or play dungeons abnormally to get to the chests quick, because you are going to spend “at least” 700 gold to get a 1/1000 chance to get a precursor…..why is there a pve grind for pvp items ? …..and now crafting weapons is completely useless because items are being listed for 6 gold less than what they cost to make – why ? the alibi is that they come out of the fountain – so people would rather list it for 6 gold less because they are impatient…. so the game itself is rendering itself moot – because crafting is a stupid “JOB” Why bother crafting when I can make a ton more money selling mats and just buying the stuff ? Why bother fighting in a league when winning means transferring to the biggest audience server ?
what kind of audience do you want for this game anyways ? these rules are pretty twisted and it kills me to see people say it’s normal – this is about as normal as playing a game of punch yourself in the face. “I got 2 black eyes first, I won!! Yay!” why is unbalanced, illogical, obsessive compulsive, and unfair being made the norm in this game ? are you trying to teach life lessons ? lol. I thought gaming was supposed to be a fun pass time, not a lesson in corruption!
then the huntsman, artificer and weaponsmith crafting is a waste of time. Why bother building up that trade if you are better off selling mats and getting the items at a fraction of the cost ? it’s just not worth it and yet another part of the game to avoid.
ascended items are also a waste of time, the stat difference isn’t that great, the skins aren’t interesting, and ever since I started doing it, it’s been nothing but grind – i’m almost done but had I known all this I would have rather kept the gold and just bought enough to play what i wanted to play – wvw.
this is no doubt a problem in the game when things lose their enjoyment / progress value.
after I saw the price drop 7 gold on the black lion, i don’t trust it anymore – no matter what the reason – no matter how the items got there , the fact that it devalues another part game – is not a challenge but a flat out “you can’t have fun doing that anymore”
it’s like taking out tons of loans to go to school, graduate and be jobless and in debt because someone took what you do and pulled a rabbit out of a mystic hat – it’s a joke, and a bad one at that.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
no, I see whats going on. no sense in debating about it further.
i showed the math. – and the erratic timing. – obviously this is supposed to be considered normal.
what value ? making quick gold. if the dupe theory is correct – they are duping one item – and that’s why they aren’t selling it in mats.
40 orichalcum ore to make that costs 2.1gold
5 ecto to make that costs 1.74gold
30 ancient logs to make that costs 1.87 gold
5 claws to make that costs – 1.5 gold
the carver is listed at 2gold.
the random players theory just doesn’t add up in bulk.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
and if it weren’t for me spotting how fast it happened, it would stay under the radar.
The graph is nice – but I saw it in real time.
without a doubt what I saw happen to that item is not a normal sales trend. it’s either someone trying to keep the prices low or someone trying to sell something fast that’s in demand for quick gold.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
that’s because it was down to 14 pieces. – someone jumped in and nerfed the numbers – it was not just someone trying to get their crafting up – that item is in demand and sells fast.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
not all – there is a sudden drop of 7 gold …which happened early today – I just started watching it last night because the price was so high at 19 gold – then the 10’s and 9’s and suddenly 2.
now look up the price of the assassin’s orichalcum imbued inscription 8 gold for just the inscription. the assassin’s pearl carver is listed as of this post at 2 gold.
assassin’s pearl carver
and i just watched 4 more added in a row for an even lower price heh!!- watching it as I post this.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
there is a sudden 7 gold price drop on this item. and the item is 5 gold below the cost of what it costs to make. there is something not right about this particular incident.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
my theory is someone is duping – because it makes more sense to sell mats to buy items for weapons you haven’t made yet. you would make double the gold selling the mats…. I’m watching it stock up now as I type.
the item I was watching is for a popular wvw build.
= 3 more were added in a row – 2 at a lower price and 1 at the price just above lower – it’s the same person – if it were many servers – it would be improbable have this pattern.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
so as I’m going for my ascended, I dread the costs of all these exotics I have to make to get to 500 -
It costs 7 gold to make those pearl weapons – and someone is putting them up for 2 gold – it’s across the board with all pearl items also. You could sell the individual mats for more – and I was keeping a close eye on a particular weapon – I watched as someone added 7 of them back to back because the prices got too high.
no reasonable explanation for someone making 7 of the same type / style of weapon back to back – nor is there a reason for all pearl weapons to cost 5 gold less than what it costs to make. if someone was maxing their crafting – it would make sense to discover new items for better xp- not make 7 of them in succession because one item got too pricey and low on stock.
- just rechecked – not all of them, but a ton of them are far cheaper than what it costs to make – if it weren’t for observing the way this item was instantly stocked – I would have just thought it was a supply and demand thing – not a popular weapon actually being nerfed in price – to an extreme.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
you guys broke the game. They need to prevent any more transfers to and from your servers and make yall a server wide free for all.
it really depends on it clicking with the pvp’rs – if for example the common wvw type perma invis thief build takes a liking to this map – you will see the wvw thread fill up with more “nerf the thief” posts lol – certain types of wvw roamers can make this map really hard for casual players. so far this looks like thief heaven heh!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
it almost looks like a mix between wvw and spvp. wouldn’t work for zerg mentality as most of them could get kicked off bridge easy – meant for small 4-5 man teams – like spvp.
interesting – can’t say I like or dislike it yet – it really depends on the ’epic’ness’ of the fights – that’s what makes wvw exciting imo – those epic 50 vs 50 vs 50 man fights
this may appeal more to small guilds – and pugs that roam more than zerg. might not appeal to the casual / pve’r as it’s more dangerous than roaming with a zerg – so it’s more pvp than pve.
as much as everyone likes to call big wvw zergs – strategic – it’s really more casual because you can join and be epic in like 1 minute – it’s a rush to have those massive fights. being in big crowds is fun.
