The main issue is the emote range. Say chat’s range limit is fine, but the emote one goes waaaaaaay farther than Say. As Donari said, a lot of problems would be solved if the emote range were made a lot shorter. As it is now, you can be a ridiculous distance away from the RP players and still “hear” the emote text.
I never saw a single one until two days before Tuesday’s patch. I saw two in those two days before the patch. Haven’t seen any since then. So, I don’t know if it is a bug, or if it is indeed just a really low chance to spawn.
Just to make sure, you do know that most of their actions were taken to safeguard the world from the return of the titans by keeping the Door of Komali shut right? As the players back in GW1 we kinda screwed the pooch on that one and then had to fix it again in Nightfall.
This is definitely true. But, at the same time, it was largely done for their own sense of self-preservation rather than because it was the right thing to do. The Mursaat were pretty immoral when it came to how they kept the door shut, too. They didn’t care how many lesser beings they killed off, as long as it kept the titans from overrunning Tyria. However, that doesn’t mean that one Mursaat couldn’t have actually changed his ways, of course.
The link works for me now, but I had to log out of the forums, click the link, and then log back in to get it to work. Before that I was having the same issue as OP (and as a few others in the sticky thread in wvw). So, I guess it’s affecting certain browsers or settings or something.
Is there even a poll active at the moment?
Already did in game…. but yeah… there is a way to tell as its clear I came back and played to the win….
You can’t create a support ticket in-game. You’ll need to put in one here on the website. https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
Yup, sadly, it’s all just RNG. I gave up the wvw spoon after trying for a week or two in a row. I didn’t touch wvw for a few months after that. Then, a couple of months ago, I decided to hop into wvw and just do a couple of things. That dang spoon dropped off of the first guard I killed.
I’d be all for this.
First of all, make sure you consumed the compendium item. If you’re absolutely sure you have, then just triple check that you’re not just somehow missing your commander field. When you press P, you should see Create Squad over Mentor. You use Create Squad to use your commander tag. If Create Squad isn’t there, then yeah, you should probably submit a support ticket.
The first waypoint of each starter zone is available. Has he done all those, and all their next zones?
That, too. I’d forgotten about the free waypoint in each starter zone.
He could also just do all of the hearts and map completion for Wayfarer Foothills and/or Snowden Drifts. He’d still get full exp in those zones because he’s downleveled. Or just run through those two zones until he reaches Gendarran.
Veto to the “Feats of Strength”-type change. I enjoy having my achievement points and the rewards they got me. Now, I’d be all for just ditching that leaderboard, though.
Yeah, I’ve had it happen when I’ve been nowhere near jade constructs, completely out of combat.
One thing that occurred to me is if you don’t have EOTN then you don’t actually have 3 points. The 3 points you get for linking 2 accounts is automatic but unless you have EOTN they’re more like placeholder points. Your account doesn’t get them for real without buying the expansion.
ugh so I spent $30 for the trilogy to get the original game for the purpose of HOM and now I have to cough up ANOTHER $20?
Yes, you have to have EOTN. You even said as much in your original post:
“so, to claim my Hall of Monuments rewards, I have to: spend FIFTY dollars on the original game for the trilogy AND EOTN,”
You don’t have to complete a campaign to start your tapestries. If you already have the trilogy, I’d recommend starting in Nightfall. You get heroes very early. Play to level 10, and then go start the EOTN stuff from Kamadan. You’ll be up-leveled to 20, and then you can just play until you unlock the first tapestry in the Hall. From there, you can choose to keep going with the EOTN story or go back to Kamadan.

Seeing as how every other hat makes you bald, I’d assume that this one does the same. I haven’t been in-game today to check for myself, though.
See, This is why I hate Anet. They just love to retcon things. Before GW2 was a thing, The bloodstones just sealed away magic to prevent the humanoid races of Tyria from going crazy with it. Or something…It’s been a long time since I actually cared about the lore in GW.
Also, I thought the original bloodstone was housed in the fire islands, where it was blown into 5 pieces by a massive eruption, which scattered the pieces throughout Tyria.
The main, big daddy bloodstone was created when King Doric asked the Gods to take away all of the magic that was given to the races of Tyria. After it was created, it was broken into 5 pieces. The pieces were then thrown into Abbadon’s Mouth (the big volcano where we fought the Undead Lich in Prophecies), which later erupted, scattering the pieces all over the place.
I think the stuff about the Seers creating the bloodstone was retconned, But I don’t think they really added in too much stuff that wasn’t already there from GW1. Other than the whole “Abbadon did it all” retconning that happened with Nightfall, of course.
I truly hope our characters are actually going insane. I mean, the random screaming, seeing the ley-line “ghosts”, and spending all this time soaking up magical ley energies? That’d make anyone bonkers. And I really want to see it be part of the upcoming story in some way.
I’ve been told MF is capped at 300% and anything above that is useless. I’m confused now.
Your account MF caps at 300%. You can get more than 300% by using temporary buffs.
Yes, if a Permanent Total Makeover Contract existed, it would let you change your appearance anytime you want (unlimited uses). That’s how the other Permanent Contracts (hair style, trading post, black lion merchant) work; unlimited uses at any time. But yeah, it (permanent makeover contract) doesn’t exist (yet).
Why would you want a downgrade of the current system with a permanent makeover kit? Time limited things is kitten.
I do not follow. I do not see an option in the game to be able to change my characters appearance whenever I want permanently? I can explain better perhaps or did I misunderstand somewhere?
I believe Dawdler is referring to Permanent contracts. But, currently, there isn’t a Permanent Total Makeover Contract; there is a Permanent Self-Style Hair Kit, though.
No, it’s not a wvw/pvp map. Part of the story requires you to obtain items that temporarily make you appear as an enemy to other players, but no one can attack you (nor can you attack anyone else).
The hearts reset every day because they’re meant to be repeatable.
The black lion trader didn’t steal your money. Most likely you fell victim to the TP lagging when loading, which resulted in you selling your contract for only 2 copper. Do as Illconceived suggested above. Submit a new ticket, and be polite and refrain from any accusations. I would be very surprised if support chooses to not work with you on this.
I’d be cool with that, as long as the completion rewards were reduced/converted into something else. And as long as getting 100% this way didn’t give you more Gifts of Exploration.
No. Just as with every other map, you only get the map completion rewards once per map per character.
That was actually the best part of the patch. I’ve purposefully lured people into Jade guardians to get them killed and then revived them to 95% just to grief the living sweat out of them. Even better, switched to walking mode and started chasing people near the fort just to see them panic and try to kill me.
Now if there were only skills available during the transformation. Nothing too fancy maybe just a little skill to kill everyone on the map at once…
And this is why open world pvp won’t be a thing in GW2.
Nope, it’s been 4 years of this, it doesn’t need to change to to cater to a minority of players.
The Halloween JP wasn’t a requirement for the meta last year, at least.
I’d like for the JP (for Halloween and Wintersday, alike) to be an OPTION for completing the meta. I, personally, enjoy both of the JPs, but I know many other people just don’t enjoy it or can’t do it for various reasons. So, it’d be nice if it was an option.
The game play and challenges are over all good. The area provides a good challenge. The one issue I have is, I returned today to do the rest of the map and all my hearts I did yesterday have rest. Is this suppose to happen? Needless to say I now have to redo the hearts again. Great job keeping the over all theme that is in Guild Wars Ring of Fire.
Yes, the hearts are meant to reset every day to provide daily content.
After messing around Hal today, I have to say that the Hal achievement is particularly irksome due to other players being able to snatch your apples if you have to put them down to fight. It wouldn’t be so bad if you only had to bring a handful of apples to him, but since you have to bring so dang many, it makes an already tedious task even more tedious.
What’s with the open world PvP on the west side of the island?
EDIT: What I mean is, why are other players turning red?
It’s part of the story stuff. No one can damage you, and you can’t attack anyone else while it’s happening.
You collect jade armor pieces, and then put them on to disguise yourself as one.
Generally speaking, I feel it’s a great patch, as far as Living Story and the new map goes. I enjoyed playing through each section of the story, including the parts on the new map. My few complaints:
Yet another currency taking up yet another inventory slot.
While I like the lava tunnel things, I’d prefer it if we had the ability to chose Stop or Keep Going when we land in another tunnel.
At certain points of the afternoon, it seemed like the Jade Armors/Bows were spawning two-at-a-time (two different npcs standing on top of eachother), which made it particularly difficult to stay alive during fights.
Gotcha so we can get caught from buying without but its okay to buy within the game. Makes sense to me.
It’s ok to buy gems from Anet and then convert them in-game to gold, which uses gold others players put into the system in order to buy gems. It’s not ok to buy from a third party seller that may or may not have stolen the account they’re posting from.
As was already said above, you’ve always needed EOTN to access the HoM rewards. As for the cost, I’m not sure why it’d be $90. Guild Wars Platinum Edition (which is Prophecies + EOTN) is $20 on Amazon right now, and just EOTN is $20 via Steam. The Trilogy (Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall) is $30 via Steam.
As for the game “closing”, it’s not likely. It still attracts a decent amount of players, too. Honestly, I think it’s worth checking out, especially when you can get three campaigns and the expansion for just $50.

myrrh-L-oh (the paste, the letter, the expression of surprise.)
I’ve never heard wyvern pronounced in-game, but in the real world, I’ve only heard it pronounced so it would rhyme with “With-urn”.
Again, haven’t noticed in-game, but I would hope that it’s pronounced Yotun. (How else would you? Joe-ton?)
In-game wyvern is pronounced “weh-vern”, I believe. The technically “correct” pronunciation would be closer to “why-vern”. But I’m sure both are accepted.
As for Jotun, in-game it’s pronounced “joe-ton”. And yup, drives me insane.
The items you’re talking about were removed for several months (part of their seasonal rotation of items). So, when they’re brought back, they threw on the “New” tag to make people notice that they’re back.

Yeah, it’s more likely that you bought the deluxe edition or something else that came with the profane set. It’s never been in any loot table, as far as I know.
Jackalop.
You can lose the 100% but you cannot lose the star attached to your character name that earned it.
Show a screenshot of the same character that has 100% world completion.
Also, likely not the case but I feel like it should be brought up anyway, if you earned 100% map completion several years ago, getting 100% again doesn’t do anything.
You are correct it does nothing. However going back and completing the maps with new things on them WILL give the map reward again.
I noticed this when HOT came out as I took all my chars through their maps updating them getting ready for them to do HOT. They ALL got the map rewards again even when it was only an extra POI or WP here or there.
I think you’re mistaken there. Once you complete a zone once, you don’t get rewards for “completing” it a second time. I didn’t get any second rewards for grabbing the new POIs/WPs/Hearts/Vistas added to pre-existing zones.
It doesn’t bother me as it is now, but it clearly bothers enough people. So, I vote for fixing.
You can buy the pieces on any character, regardless of whether or not they can wear them, and they will count for the achievement. Just make sure you only buy 1 of each piece (helm, shoulders, chest, gloves, legs, and boots) from each of the three tiers. Duplicate pieces won’t count towards the achievement. So, for example, if you have already bought the tier 1 medium helm, buying a tier 1 light or heavy helm won’t count towards the achievement because you already bought a helm.
I have fairly long loading times, and it’s annoying. But I don’t really see the point in this. Waypointing within cities is already free. If you want to go to a different city, Asura Gates to every major city exist in LA, and an Asura Gate back to LA exists in every major city. Plus, like you already said, guilds also already have reduced waypoint cost upgrades they can use.

Yeah, pretty much every largos we’ve met has basically said “You know, if we meet again, I might kill you”. I don’t think they’re particularly keen on forging alliances with outsiders, except in extremely rare cases. Sayeh owed Trahearne a debt because he once helped her out, and so she helped us out for a short period of time before going back to what she (and the rest of the Largos) usually does.
The name of the item is Bifrost, not Bitfrost. If you’re putting a “t” in there, then that’s your problem. Like we said, you have to make sure you’re putting the exact text. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Bifrost_Vol._2
As for how to add a screenshot: You choose More posting & formatting options, which takes you to a new page with your post. From there you can upload a screenshot to attach to your post.
Hm. Could you post a screenshot of the delete window? And/or one with the name of the items typed into the field?
HoT came out last October. And I have to agree with Farming Flats; walking/running ontop of the updrafts does the trick for me every time.
Pertaining to your leftover collection items: You need to make sure you’re typing out the name of the item exactly as it’s printed, including the amount. So, if you have “2 Annoying Things In My Inventory”, you’d have to type “2 Annoying Things In My Inventory” into the text field.
