Well yes but as mentioned the 1s ICD (per target) will not change anything for necro BUT also allow it to work for Reaper and plague blast. So it works on both ends!
It resembles #11 but in a lesser way if you’re in melee you should be doing higher burn damage so 5 procs every 5 secs allows for a quick burst but not completely relying on spamming and it’s easier to work with then 1 sec ICD even if per target. If #20 and #11 were merged it would be enough.

The goal of Dhuumfire is obviously to allow DS to be powerful EVEN on a condition build. DS 2, 3, 5 already apply some condi. 4 recharges DS, so it is still somewhat useful on a condi build. So dhuumfire has to apply on DS 1. I think just having it apply 2 stacks burn on a 1s ICD would be a good start. Life blast is meant to be scary, and is currently not in condi build.
Life blast should have a condition by default. without dhuumfire.
whats the point of the ICD? DS1 shoots way slower than 1 second anyway. The ICD would need to be per-target, otherwise it would be a pointless restriction against unyielding blast. is it just against plague blast?
A baseline condition is not a bad idea what do you have in mind?
The goal is to balance with plague blast and Reaper’s shroud.
We should not care about Reaper at all right now they can/should modifiy it’s shroud after dhummfire is made useful on necro’s shroud. This remind of Chilling Darkness nerf…if that’s how they are doing it they are messing up big time also I’m pretty sure they stopped caring about underwater combat for a while now or they have something in reserve that will be released in 3 or 6 years.

This seems like a really nice change, why so many upset?
The fact that is wasn’t documented means they could “fix it” since they still left out bugs from last patch. You can’t be sure it’s intended at least that’s what I’m not liking about it.

Melee staff could be the cleave/AoE sustained DPS for thief.
Currently thief has ok sustained DPS and high single target burst and quite bad AoE damage.Sword/Pistol. Sword auto attack cleaves.
Yes sword cleaves, that is why I run s/p + p/p with my open world PvE thief, but it doesn’t have the AoE part.
Without ricochet yeah but wouldn’t s/p and SB fit that or do you mean GS or ele staff like AoE?

Condition specs are weaker than other specs even bunker guard>burn guard cele ele>condi ele and you cleanse,transfer,heal off conditions in addition to the usual evades,block,blinding etc. WvW has food…delete that but even with that there is no condition meta.

My fix idea for Dhuumfire is to make it add a stack of Torment with each hit. Also it should add 2 stacks while your LF is over a threshold say 2 stacks over 50%. Torment should be in theme with necros and 2 damaging conditions on a skill would rock.
Torment on Life Blast has already been suggested
I’m not sure if it’s a good for it’s efficiency to be gated by LF threshold but wouldn’t lower LF=additional stacks better?

Id be more happy if they reworked the current weapon skills than releasing a new weapon type. d/p+sb is all they can buff each patch
+1 through the roof.
I’m sick of anet trying to blind us with new toys while leaving the old ones still broken. Fix what we got, then work on new things. After 3 years I feel like that should of been done but I guess keeping old content/mechanics relevant was never on their priority list.

Thief was never meta due to fighting potential it was always mobility and finishing off 2v1,weaker players anything that won’t take long also being to land the first strike. Duels in open servers differ from those in an actual matches all they did was enforce the decapper/executioner role of thief with nerfs and unfulfilled promises as well.

I won’t be using staff. I don’t care if I end up going full melee with dagger and GS I won’t be using staff until the weapon isn’t a boring PoS to use that’s been gutted because of condi builds.
Tbh even on condi it’s not so attractive that’s why one suggestion was allowing Dhummfire to work on it’s AA it’s better than scepter ironically so paired with d/WH it’s what we have to settle down for.

Fix = Nerf
Anytime Anet wants to nerf something but doesn’t really have a reason for it, or don’t want to explain the reason they instead label it a “fix”. This has happened with pretty much every balance patch since launch, it’s not like this is some new trick.
For example, they “fixed” signet of vamp to heal for less. Of course it already basically heals for nothing, which is why no one uses it. There is no reason to reduce the healing it does, even if they tripled it, it would still suck. Yet they somehow felt compelled to reduce the healing. It makes no sense, and has no logic, so therefore it is labeled as a “fix” instead of a nerf.
It’s weird then that the other nerfs and buffs isn’t labeled as “fixes”. SOV is basically necromancers answer to the warriors healing signet. They both heal for basically the same amount (+- a 5 or 10 or whatever) and is basically just as effective as each other. They both heal you per second,the only difference being that SOV requires you to get hit for it to heal. And honestly,in a fight,as a warrior you get hit just as much as a necromancer.
So ergo,SOV is as effective as Healing Signet IN COMBAT.
I like intended balance as much as the next guy but please do not compare Healing Signet to SoV and go as far as to say they’re equal war may be the closest class to us but please no.

Just merge it with PoC without the additional debuffs,reduce it to 20%,make Consume Conditions 25 CD again and think of better effects if they don’t want Mallyx to suck as well.

I would like to see axes fixed. I’m looking forward to making a reaper when HoT comes out that uses a lot of LF, but I have no idea on my second weapon because it needs to be semi-ranged and staff is iffy. If they fix axe so its 1 and 3 are better, I’d be a happy mancer.
You still use staff like every necro spec unless they magically boost axe range to match. They have that “it will be OP” mentality with necro on almost everything.

All corruptions sucks I don’t think I’ve seen anyone use Corrupt Boon post patch but me for build testing, Plague may be and exception but it could be more than 20 sec of pressing #2, they chose the worst condition to add to traited Consume Conditions. MoC should be merged with PoC without the dumb additional debuffs at the GM spot bring down useless Parasitic Contagion and make it work while in Shroud and create a new power master.
If that’s too hard make the CD reduction of MoC 20% and reduce the corruptions CD baseline.

So, I’ve seen tons of “but melee staff cannot give Thieves anything new mimimi” posts… Well, then let me ask you: Does the Thief have a lot of close range CC like dazes and knockdowns? No? Well maybe that is what a melee staff could provide. Lots of hard CC paired with good damage.
That seems close to s/p with the exception of knockdown the only one we have being on a stupid trap, if the spec is CC focused we are not really lacking into that and it’s still melee dps so what’s the point. The only special thing would be a block and also pretty much everything but d/p paired with SB is seriously lacking vs players that is.

Do not bother with condition on any class especially necro scepter/dagger are weak links and they gutted it with new Dhummfire,PoC and Terror on same tier,bleed nerf,lost of condition duration,Lingering Curse,overall game power creep etc. I would say the same for powermancer the viable necro specs are hybrid-ish MM and cele variations (signet or well). I do not trust Reaper to revive it but we’ll see doubt it will based on the devs’ record.

I went in with no expectations as well, still dissapointed.
I suppose I let myself hope for a Quickening Thirst fix after all. I keep walking into the same trap every update.
This also the CD reduction based on HP threshold is horrible.Lingering Curse is still bugged and need some of it’s duration to be added to base scepter etc. When you go in dept with necro you can tell they skipped over a lot of things the death of condition necro is sad as well.

Lame nerf to UM…the corruptions change is the same as they did for revenant but don’t worry they will have to make ours useful if they don’t want Mallyx to suck. Bugs are still here though.

I stopped using focus and axe as the same time they had their chances especially with the new focus and axe traits those are weak links. Hope at least it’s not over with the notes bugs are still here.

If we follow the timeline rifle comes over staff which only became a recent want after we knew melee staves are possible but most just want a new s/d, I don’t see OH sword ever happening, thief rifle could include a bayonet so it’s not 100% range nuker SB has melee uses as well and overall it would be more refreshing to get rifle.

Speak for yourself OP and condi/celestial thief exist even if nerfed pretty much only d/p didn’t get a real nerf. The only special thing about staff would be a block unless it’s a range staff.

Stances should be really high uptime, but they’d have upsides and downsides so you’d want to cancel them. Something like:
“Unstoppable: You move at 15% reduced speed. No matter what”
i.e. You could be moving around while stunned chilled immobilized and knocked down, but you wouldn’t want to leave it on if that stuff has worn off because then you’d just be slowing yourself down.
No please no more self harm non rewarding mechanic corruptions are a fail already also they shouldn’t look up to war stances but higher war is being carried by Rampage so far and it’s the closest class to us.
The Mallyx corruptions also suck.

You are not one of the devs there is always some(to much) miscommunication between us and them so what the community wants/needs isn’t usually what it gets. First you said high uptime and cancel ability that’s not stance like at all so it’s off the table :/ since they like themes so much. They still think they did something great by nerfing Consume Conditions and creating MoC…for death’s sake pick any other condition but blind to put on traited Consume Conditions.

Our lack of group buffing is mostly in exchange for extremely powerful self buffs; it’s very easy to reach and maintain max might stacks on ourselves with no real effort. I wonder, perhaps, if the might cap went the way of the bleed cap, if we’d become more useful and desired in pve, since we’d actually have high enough dps to make up for our lack of party support, and our own might stacking wouldn’t be overwritten by the groupwide buffs.

So I Know there are a lot of topics about Mesmer OP, CS OP, PU op etc. but i want to discuss with you how bad was the idea to buff portal and at the same time buff the Mesmer in every aspects.
Historically Portal was always a super strong ability for Mesmer, for the entire team, i remember when it was to 60s and Anet nerfed CD to 90s (and it was a right move).
I remember what Phantaram said about portal and Mesmer and i agree with him, with portal so strong for the entire team, you can’t create a Mesmer beast or the balance goes to the hell.
And what we have now? A Mesmer with more damage/sustain/stealth buffed AND portal buffed (with a lower CD).
In these days it happens many team in queue you play against double Mesmer and when you find 2 double (good) Mesmers with 2 double portals the situation is really bad for you team if you can’t balance it with a similar composition.
What your thoughts about?
but it was ok when Mesmers could provide portal but food for thieves pre-patch right?
Only 1 mesmer spec was countered by thief and the issue was it was the only build considered meta so thief vs mesmer wasn’t the issue it was diversity but it seems that you fully support current mesmer…

Tbh it started to get fine when most mesmers I encountered said it got boring and they dissapeared for a while but now 2-3 mesmers on each team is absolutely normal I’m starting to keep track of the names. I shouldn’t go there but 2 pre burial turret engis were easier to deal with than 2 mesmers as a team.

It can’t be simply gain 10% LF on respawn what if you already have some? A boost only at the beginning of the match would help but it’s just a band-aid the issue is necro being weak with 0 LF.

it does, this is very true. but still. you know. signet necro takes a lot of skill to play. honestly the ONLY one so far that ive seen handle the build well is nos himself, but I guess people will learn. not enough necros play it sadly. those who do are god-awful. which makes nos pretty unique atm.
Tbh the only thing I dislike about his build is SoV I just don’t find it’s worth for some reason. That’s the only thing I find “unique” about it based on my PvP experience he’s the only one running it “happily”.

Nah, just play Nerco and enjoy it. It could be worse. You could be playing a Necro.
Stop saying it could be worse please. Necro is just there it has a decent role in WvW/PvP but there are still steps to go through PvE it’s slowly progressing if you’re optimistic, just wish the rest of the game wasn’t faster.

Strenghts of cele sig:
Might stacking (more might stacking than any other reasonable necro build will get)
Boon Corruption (A ton of this, more than most necro builds will get)
Condi transfers (Again more than most necro builds will get)
LF regen (double SA, warhorn, soul marks)
Healing (1.5k per target from SOL, 400 per hit for SOV, regen from mark of blood)
Focus fire ability (SOV can deal 4.5k damage on a target in a team fight pretty easily, 2 unblockable ccs, one instant cc, safe stomp in plague)
Mobility (with warhorn and sol pretty good for necro)Basically, it’s good at a lot of stuff. That’s probably why Nos runs it because you want as much versatility against good players as possible.
I get the idea it’s a glassier version than going in Blood Magic it’s probably just SoV that’s constantly leaving splinters in my head.

You are not the only one thinking this to me it’s also because he’s not solo Caith out of nowhere is a nuisance. I ask some necros running the spec how is it they answered :"It’s because Nos is running it and it makes more sense than power signets ". The build is focused on boon hate I think I’m not feeling the use of all stats with cele and SoV doesn’t scale well but eh Nos is running it so in line necros.
I’ll stick to cele dhuumfire well.
