The new borders certainly cut any ties people had with the game mode (except for EB).
Who now cares when a tower or keep falls?
Most likely you’d never even be in time to save it anyway, so no point in even putting up scouts since backup would arrive too late.Also, who cares if Rampart on your border flips?
On the old borders Garri was pretty much the last line that you would defend til the end and even call people from other borders to help out.
I remember doing allnighters to defend it a long time ago, especially if it was T3 and fully sieged up.
Now? I really couldn’t care less to defend or scout, which was pretty much the one thing i did the most in WvW.Imagine the conversation on TS.

Exactly, scouts all over complaining on how hard is to defend stuff there, I like when 3 ppl could defend a keep now it is impossible unless the enemy is blind dumb monkey on pills that only walk sideways.
Hey man, your gamplay is very similar to mine, I alos prefer signet of agility over infi signet. Stacking ferocity gear and using above 80% crit chance with fury gives you so much dmg only from sword auto attack!
I also run executioner rather than improvision
Flanking strike really beast trait and I also prefer it over thrill of crime since you already maintain fury throgh CS. Solo and on dueling this build is super, but I find it luckluster in group fights you essentially have only one stun break on long cd and a chance of 2 with improvision.
May I ask you which server you are on and what runes you using(Pack?)?
I am using Scholar and somtimes use Traveler or just testing out wurm runes

History has showen that during any new event or content players empty out of WvW to engage it.
This is the biggest event/injection of content since release.

That may be true – on low tier servers. on higher tier you would still see lots of roamers. Now not saying that the wvw population is the same, but try going to south camp from your keep, trying to have it on guards, die horribly and think how you just wasted 10 min which 4-5 min is just running to die for overbuffed guard camp.
My points were made by many many ppl roamers I know and you can see the other posts here and on this forum. It will not stop after ppl from pve come back.
And about learning, you only need to take a quick stroll at your “garri” to understand how complex this map really is..

While iti s welcoming to see new borderland map, there are some major things need to be conisdered when making this kind of map.
1. How big the map should be? – in the beta testing, the number one problem that been reported is how big the map is. This is the most biggest issue here since borderland maps are often used by roaming parties, and solo roaming guys. while high pop servers (t1-2) maybe could fill in the map, other tiers just wont find somone to fight that often since the large size of this map.
TLDR – roaming parties and solo roamers would not find fights often which will lead to ppl abandoning the map for EB which will lead to map emptyness.
2. Multi layered map – it is a nice change to have this multi layered objectives, though I think it is way complex than it should be. all the switches, larger objectives places, some supply depots that are far from gates, make defending and attacking really hard thus discouraging small groups to actually defend or attack certain objective.
TLDR – too much complex that makes defending and attracking very tiresome.
3. Camps – I dont see the reason why you made the camp cap more diffcult than EB camps, let the solo roamers(if there will be) have thier contribute.
All above is enough reasons on thier own that common roamer or low pop wvw guild would avoid getting into the new wvw map you created which is amazingly beutiful and well designed!
Already been like 2 hours on the new map and I barly seen ppl and this is on launch!

Wut did i just read here o.O? What is the point of this thread? Most of the statements from you ppl are completely wrong, at least spvp part. It feels like 1 person with multiple accounts trying to prove some unknown point.

There are currently 2 condition builds on necro, terrormancer, and full conditionmancer.
There are something like 10 different power builds…
There is 1 condition weapon on necro, scepter. There are 5 power weapons and 1 utility weapon (Dagger, Axe, Greatsword, focus, warhorn, utility staff)
With the introduction of reaper you can also do 1 or 2 interesting hybrid builds.
There is 1 condition trait line (curses), two utility traitlines (SR, Reaper) and 3 power traitlines (BM,SP, DM)
Conditions are much harder to play than direct damage. They require much tighter rotations, you have to fight against all the normal counterplay (dodge, block, invuln, heals), plus the addition of resistance, and cleanses.
Pretty much everything in your OP is just plain incorrect.
10 different power builds? hmmm let me guess wellmancer,spectral and 8 different mix of them.In the end of the day your biggest role as power necro in spvp is just to use lich in the right time while condi necros have the luxury to also tank a point.
I did mentioned about that I had limited experience on condimancer, though I am sure that it dosnt rely on sigil/runes proccess.
Spvp is slowly infested by condi and cele stats,while WvW roaming is already infested and dominated by condies since anet gave them dire, preplex and condi stacking potencial.
When I first heard of Reaper, I thought to myself, well , it is a REAPER, it is about death with scythe and hard finishing blows that you called think “R.I.P” when you land them.
It is like that and Im glad it is like that, though in time you realize that GS is nothing when you can get scepter offhand dagger or warhorn and use condi reaper and be much more effective.You actually can go condi hit with scythe doing almost 0 dmg but win cause of conditions.For me,it is like missing the whole point of Reaper if you go condi.And while on Reaper traitline you wont find alot of condi favor traits,you’ll find at least the trait that gives condi dmg to chill that it is one of the strongest if not – the strongest trait there. The shouts – if traited – doing more condi dmg than raw dmg, the GS is very welcome and I love it,and the whole power side of reaper I much much like and will play it alot.
Why is it that every class in the game get way more condi options rather than power?
Look at the reaper, chill converted to condi dmg, while chill is one of the main things about reaper, there is no trait that gives power builds any advntage with chills other than vournability stacking, why the power builds get 3 stats related dmg modifiers and condi only one? it seems in every class taking the condi option is the smartest choice, but im not gonna elaborate on other classes, my main talking point is aobut the reaper, it feels like condi reaper is way way way stronger than the power counterpart and have much more traits emphasis on condi dmg. I feel like you trying to push everyone into the condi meta…
I play power necro all the time and did tried codni couple of times with huge success, tho it felt so easy in compare to power play, it is the same with the reaper now, nothing changed and I really hoped that power reapers would be obsolete.

Everyone says ranger is in the worst position years now and everytime aney buffed them litte bit and little bit now they are no doubt passed thief in strength as do all the other classes.Thief is just the 3 years back ranger,its funny how they made the ranged class with so many defensive utlities to hae more health pool than thief that have no defense at all.
Ranger is essentialy belong to rogue type as do thief.
Doubt it…. it needs dmg mitigation mechanics… Atm we are getting carried by vamp rune safe net but w/o it the class is simply unplayable in pvp.
Anet won’t nerf other classes, so thief generally needs some defensive passives… as much as it is cringeworthy….. There is no point to roleplay high skilled thief when everyone else is overloaded with passives. After all we do pvp to win and not feed enemies. Right now thief design is to feed enemies kills. Period. Crappy design, imo, but it is what Anet desired apprently.
Doesn’t mean it should stay that way. One of my suggestion was to introduce “cheat death” mechanic which will have long ICD and will bring thief to 10%? HP by attack which otherwise would have killed thief.
Also, we need protection and more condi removal.
Thief doesn’t need more passive survivability through procs or invulns, some of the other classes need LESS of it. Raising HP pool is also stupid because it doesn’t promote skilled play at all. Protection doesn’t really suit thieves, but maybe. As it stands, in my opinion, shadow arts needs some change. Some traits should probably be added there that gives defense outside of stealth. Acrobatics is in the same situation really- it also needs changes and removed passives (hard to catch and don’t stop). You have to remember that in a team, thief is SO important, but mostly because of stealth and mobility not necessarily combat effectiveness.
Sorry but you couldnt be more wrong about thief.Judging from your post I think you dont even play thief as much as others here played.
The most two good traits in acro are hard to catch and dont stop,and thief is not in spvp team for his stealth AT ALL.He is for the mobility AND combat effectivness.You just need to look on Sizer gameplay and see how him – doing combat helps the team,it is the thief role to +1 on fights.
Adding HP pool would not promote skilles play,it will just make thieves little bit more ressilent.It will still be the squishy class in the game…

I have had a post about increasing thief HP pool that totally ignored by the devs,I think increasing it would be significant change and would help thieves coop better-yet be still squishy.It would not make the thief more survival but it will make it viable again.
Ppl who ask for defense it is asking too much from the devs,thieves still are the assassin type and still do heavy single burst dmg on short cd’s.I think that I dont want to see thieves getting buffed as mesmers did,still want my class to be hardcore skill based.
y’know that the player is good when he outplay you as a thief(am not talking about cheese condi kitten).
As for condies,the problem is in the core game,condies should be based on two seperate stats just as raw dmg is.Im not even talking about precision,as you need Power,ferocity and precision to maxmize your dmg output.Just make condi dmg scale from two stats.let the dire rest in pieces.

Before I decided to focus on Necro I was lurking in the Mesmer foum a lot, they have some really great people there.
Where else you’ll find ppl who thier class got buffed so much they felt to express on forums how thier class is way buffed and even came up with suggestions on how to nerf it?
Still having fun and strong as s/d thief,tho I totally agree and asks for the reasons anet let the cele elem plauge rage on and yet nerf the s/d spec which was not that common in first place.
I mean look at what they did with these stiff dashes,as if they almost want us to die faster..scrapper get shadow refuge and we get circus qualified elite spec

Dash animations locks our freemove a bit maybe do not change the animation of the basic dodge and just added effect for each dash.
Make #5 skill on staff to work with shadowstepping abilities mid air.
Easy once i get them feared,frozen either with RS #5 or the chill elite i use sigil if inteligence and high ferocity easy doing 10k on gravedigger

Since Acro is dump and DA is trash for condi you can sacrifice either for DD despite their unjustified nerfs on SA. For power you can pass on CS and Acro is a dump so sacrifice either for it. Hell I wouldn’t even call it a sacrifice if you’re trading something that’s even close to being equal.

Your first two complaints are not about Mirror Blade. They’re about stun and stealth. Your third complaint is painfully wrong. Untraited, it’s 8 cd. There’re two better traits in the same spot of Imagined Burden. But if you desperately want to feel that MB’s cd is OP, then traited using a Grandmaster slot, it’s 6.5 cd.

We are very concerned about reaper because
1. Melee builds need survival tools that the reaper doesnt have
2. Melee builds need chase down tools that the reaper doesn’t have
3. reaper, at least greatsword reaper, may have really poor life force generation. Even if the grandmaster trait makes up for some of this, reaper should get something better from its grandmaster trait than life force to make up for the terrible greatsword life force.
4. Reaper GS chill access depends on a 4 second chain attack all hitting, but the attacks are slow and well telegraphed.
4a. Chill is supposed to be the main control tool of the reaper, but chill got nerfed hard that the condition will not fill this function very well.
5. If reaper damage is not best in the game top notch, then the whole class theme falls apart. Reapers, instead of being feared will be trying to run away from eviscerate warriors for example.
6. Axe and Focus are needed more badly than ever. With Reaper shroud and greatsword both melee, there is a real need for a legitimate power weapon tools (staff doesn’t count). Unfortunately, those two got Dhuumfired in beta and still suck today.
7. What OP said, shout and utilities don’t matter if we are going to be stuck taking (weak) stun breaks for utility.
8. The traits look very weak & boring, here’s what every Pvp & WvW reaper will take: (1) immobilize duration reduction (2) more life force to make up for greatsword life force sucking and (3) more life force to make up for greatsword life force sucking. That is very boring, even if the particular numbers turn out make the traits strong.
9. No scaling defenses for team fights & no team utility for team fights.

To all the genius people in this thread and elsewhere… Mirror Blade is something that you can DODGE hilariously easily.
If Anet follows their present route of nerfing every class that can burst, you will have a glorious celestial meta again, where eles are going through endless rotations and barely damage each other, cleanse all conditions, engis will quietly get their range back so they don’t feel left out and then all you still need is the shoutbow since Anet will have to fix the warriors (they cannot stay in this rampage or gtfo state).
Too bad that the celestial meta is plain boring as kitten.
