Vials aren’t hard to come by, and neither are globs or shards, which you can simply just downgrade in the Mystic Forge. Without an ascended back, you should be fine in 20s Fractals.
Not saying it shouldn’t be fixed, as it should. But there are ways around it, and if it means I have to run fractals with you guys to get you that vial….

I play on SOR and I don’t really care. The fights are good and we will beat the crud out of TC when they don’t get helped by JQ. I have to give tc credit for the win. However, it’s kinda sad to see groups of thieves from both JQ and TC roaming and ganking together without fighting each other.
Aren’t you a godly thief? Step up. If SoR didn’t want to be 2v1’d they shouldn’t have been out and making enemies for the past year.

That’s the kind of logical equivocation I would expect from an angsty 14 year old.
The long and short of this argument is that the outcomes for most of the leagues was already known well before the end.
Servers at the bottom of their tiers, especially silver league, were doomed to 7 weeks of getting steamrolled by everyone above them (bottom of bronze have essentially no WvW anyway, and bottom of gold can at least muster up decent populations).
So yes… roughly 1/3 of the servers was awarded 7 weeks of horrible unwinnable WvW matchups. Everyone knew this would happen, locking them in for the worst rewards is just the worst.
ANet should apologize for locking those servers into 7 weeks of suck.
I am sorry you are struggling with the concept. Keep working on it though.

Perma stealth ruined the thief class
I really don’t understand why y’all are so upset. Some of us simply don’t buy the doom and gloom being propagated here, and we trust anet to do the best for the entire game. We just aren’t naturally pessimistic I suppose. Hang in there, the thief class will be better off.

it’s pretty clear you don’t even play thief. you’ve said some extremely ridiculous and sometimes conflicting things since you started this smurf account.
if you THINK thieves can easily crush other warriors, I can gladly show you otherwise. Thief is not really a good 1v1 class, it has plenty of weaknesses and warrior is one of them.
I am sorry that you are struggling with your thief vs warriors. However, thieves can defeat them. I’ve done it sometimes, and I’ve seen others bet them routinely. You need to time your dodges and gap losers based on their animations. Don’t worry, it takes a while and gets easier with experience. Good luck!

I sometimes wonder if you even play a thief since you don’t make sense most of the time. Initiative change is a buff for certain very specific builds. It is not a massive buff for all as you say.

Most thieves are horrible players and don’t understand how easy their class is. Stealth classes attract that type of player.
When I first started reading the thief subforum and saw you claim you had 5 thief alts, I thought I should pay attention to your posts. But increasingly they are all as unconstructive as the above, which is likely how you’ve earned the reputation you have there now. I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish, but it doesn’t seem like anything positive.
I’m a new player but not a horrible one and I find thief substantially more difficult to play than warrior or even mesmer. This is not supposed to be a game that requires supreme twitch skills to be viable, and right now there is little reason for anyone to roll a thief other than deliberately wanting a challenge.
Let me quote this for the pinnacle of truth. I don’t know what ANet wants us to do. I’d have loved to keep my s/p dodge build, but s/p was kitten as it was and now we’re being forced into stealth to keep up with every other class.
This is pretty much the point I’m trying to make. I just don’t see a lot of viable builds in that class compared to others.

I doubt that’s possible. there will always be some players who want an imbalanced game. Players from all classes as a majority can enjoy the game, not just from the thief class.

Most of the melodramatic “I will quit my thief” posts don’t represent the vast thief player base who will keep playing. Most of us appreciate a non-easymode class that doesn’t rely on abusing broken mechanics (ANET’s terminology, not mine). So, not much will change other than the fact that we will have fewer scrubs playing thieves, which is wonderful.

Although this technically constitutes a personal attack I will let it slide. I am here because I don’t want narrow views that seek to op my class to prevail. Op classes get constantly nerf and earn the hatred of other players. I also appreciate a challenge. I speak for thousands of thieves who enjoy their class and trust anet to balance the ENTIRE game.
Funny how in this thread everyone’s talking about how OP thieves are, but in the profession-specific forum everyone’s complaining about how weak the class is becoming and speculating over how many people will stop playing thief after the December 10th patch.
General consensus seems to be that getting rid of permastealth is a good thing, but that every time some “OP” ability of thieves is removed, it’s not balanced with anything new they can do instead.
After playing a thief for a couple of weeks, IMO the thieves who can dominate in combat are that way because they’re incredibly good players. On my warrior I can be effective with little effort or experience. On my thief I get my butt handed to me all the time and probably will for the next 6 months until I get better at it.
Given that everywhere I look these days I see warriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarriorwarrior I don’t think it’s thieves that need even more restraining. They’ve already been subjected to a lot of it, and at least when a thief is really good it’s because the player is really good.
Bottom line: if you want to nerf stealth into utter uselessness, then what do you replace it with? If all you’re going to do is say to remove it, then I guess you might as well remove the whole class.

You are right that 10k is low for a backstab, however there are people running around with super unicorn + protection which can reduce the damage of backstab to those levels.
Secondly, its all about warriors this month. Of course nobody is going to use eles because warriors do not need eles to stay alive.

The classes that have stealth are incredibly weak compared to others.
Thieves and mesmers only have 2 viable set-ups: pure zerk and pure condi. Both mean the thief/mesmer is low on vitality and toughness, and really easy to kill.
Just to give an example: my zerk thief does ~7k (4-5k on a heavy armour target) with backstab and there’s a delay on backstab because of the Revealed state. On top he only has 13k health. A zerk warrior has easily 20k+ health and does 2-4k per second with axes and can hit easily 7-8k with whirlwind attack on a low armour target.
To top that it also has the best mobility in the whole game: leaps and movement skills both on weapons and utilities, perma swiftness. And lastly it has damage negators on shield and endure pain. Seriously, if one class needs nerf it’s warrior.
That’s simply not true. Thieves who are weak make that choice via how they spec.
DDOS attacks on our team speak every time we face a certain leading server. They actually brag about how they shut down our team speak. Disgusting.

I play a thief, and played correctly, yes, stealth equates to invulnerability. Sorry.
Sword pistol works. Crafting is fastest if you have some gold, lol. Yes , thieves remain very fun in wvw.

Agreed. Those who rely on permastealth may leave, but that was an abuse of the mechanics anyway. Much of this patch is a buff.

Transfers should have been closed 3 weeks prior to and during the leagues. That way certain guilds couldn’t have purchased their success. If people want to transfer during the WvWvW season, prevent them from entering WvWvW during the season.
Only glass cannon thieves need to worry about aoes any more than other classes. Properly specced thieves are no more vulnerable than most classes. The problem is all of the glass cannon thieves who don’t spec for survivability. They get what they deserve.

Sanduskel you are a kitten to think d/p doesn’t have counter play. It just requires having a little more brains than mashing 2 keys to counter perma stealth.
D/d is worthless because it has no blinds/interrupts/900 range gap closers.
D/d will still be useless but next patch d/p thieves get nerfed because anyone who knows how to play a thief uses that set because it has such a high skill ceiling. I used to be a d/d noob too until I learned how to play game.
People who thought perma stealth was OP just stand in the red ring and you cause thief to have no init and revealed, interrupt the hs, aoe the ring

But I’d still say that a thief is vulnerable even without the glass cannon build. My thief is mostly dire/sentinel in stats, so she has good defense for a thief. But in an even fight, my berzerker mesmer still has better overall survivability. (Yes, there’s still the factors that I’m better as mesmer than thief, and my mesmer has more exotic gear too). But even a thief that doesn’t focus on damage can still be vulnerable. I admit I’m not a great thief, but I’d like to think I’m okay. :P
I really wish people would stop piling all this hate on stealth. I’m betting most of it is coming from ‘perma-stealth’ thieves, which the devs already said they wanted to change.
wrong. thieves are vulnerable only when they choose to be. they are no worse off than most other classes. it’s just the perma scrub glass build that maks them so.
I used to hate fighting thieves with my mesmer – they were the only class that gave me problems.
So what did I do? I rolled a thief, learned its strengths and weaknesses, and incorporated that knowledge into my play style. Now I can kill thieves.
If a thief stealths and runs off I usually don’t bother following after them. I know by then that they’re too far to chase. But they don’t ‘rofl-STOMP’ anymore. A thief’s ability to flee from a fight they can’t win is one of their greatest advantages. They need that, because fighting as a thief can very quickly shift in and out of their favor. Most classes (I’m assuming here) can gauge if they’re winning or losing. For thieves, it’s pretty haphazard.

Daoc was a great game and the rvr was the best ever. The RA gates were huge there. They are trivial here.
