Thieves could easily permastealth after the removal of culling, and they will still be able to cheese/scrub it up after this.
This won’t effect god thieves at all. I applaud these changes. Permastealth ruined our reputation and made us the most hated class.
I love these changes. Perma stealth was a terrible, cheesy mechanic. Now our class can get the help it needs

If you can’t get around on your thief, you are doing it wrong.
Perma stun makes warriors ez mode and 80% of the Zerg. All I hear now is calls for hammer stun. Lol.

I play on SOR, and I am ashamed that we aren’t showing up to fight. I continue to fight to the last, including in Hills in BG BL last night. Held you guys off several times, including contesting the circle successfully 3 times.

Not really. SD doesn’t really require it, and it’s much more fun in wvw.

I think thieves are in a great place right now, but I don’t rely on perma stealth.
I fight for SOR, and I advocate that we focus on fighting and not making excuses. I love the quality of fights this week. Hate the long queues though.
As a thief, I say bring on more stealth detection, please! I hate that we have so many scrubs relying on perma stealth. It’s ruined this class.
SOR – just fight. We’ve come up from the bottom on our own. Can’t control what others do. Play our game, our way and be decent sports.

Please. If you try to help the profession for several months in a row but get nowhere because the bleeding hearts and developers managed to land on the same ship, then the only thing that will get things done is to let everything burn to the ground. The thief in its current state is useless beyond hitting 5 digit numbers on bad players.
But since the name of the game is “popular belief”, everyone except for the diehards and newer thieves have left the profession and are currently bashing it. And we inject a little drama into our posts now and then because that’s the only way people pay attention to anything nowadays.
This is what I like to call “burn out” where a volatile situation becomes unsalvageable and is abandoned and left to die. Those who actually cared may even assist in its destruction as a form of mercy killing.
So if you want to play with that one-trick-pony class, go ahead. I’ll be enjoying with more useful classes.

There is only one balance issue. Queues are not a problem Arenanet should be addressing, they are a symptom of players being unwilling to transfer or ignorant of the transfer opportunity.
The balance problem is that of coverage. While some servers have many overnight players, other servers have barely any. This leads to situations where the maps are completely one colour overnight with waypoints and full upgrades in every keep. This, in turn, leads to boring games that nobody enjoys and makes the score irrelevant.

I know some anet developers who play thieves. They are very aware of the issues you cite, especially the broken perma stealth plus the other weaknesses thieves face.
Introduce no more achievements in WvWvW zones until you fix the broken queuing system and lag.
No this class will not get any better unless the devs get off their warriors. stealthing is the least of this profession’s problems.

I think you underestimate the hatred non stealthers have toward perma stealth. I hear it all the time from my guild mates and server mates. Intense hatred. I know anet hears it too. In fact developers on my server have said that they get tons of grief about it. So, logically, they will be reluctant to buff this class further when the source of that hatred still exists. I wish for improvements too such as more tools to deal with lolwarriors, but the hue and cry from those who loathe permastealth would be overwhelming. Just logical.

I dunno. I enjoy playing p/d on my thief with c&d as my only stealth. Such a fun troll build while roaming.
They could remove stealth for all I give a kitten, but tbh a Nerf to movement speed when stealthed would be plenty fair IMO. Damage is fine.
Agreed. Many of us enjoy our thieves, and reduced stealth could open up more possibilities for this class. There will never be improvements to this class while permastealth remains as it is. The player base won’t stand for it.
Thieves are still very strong in many aspects of wvw. Warriors are lol though.
I play a thief, and I agree that perma stealth is cheesy and should be corrected.
I don’t get the complaints. Even without much stealth, I don’t get hit much but I use dodge judiciously and i keep moving.

I’ve never been able to do this kind of damage on my thief even as a glass cannon, unless the dude had no armor value. sorry. If you have issues with this, spam ANET with complaints, because coming here isn’t going to help you.
D/P is still grossly overpowered and one of the few builds capable of taking on warriors. The issue is that thieves have no other builds to turn to and are stuck with the cheese. The class does need some serious improvements but those aren’t going to come until D/P has been dealt with.

I wouldn’t doom and gloom though, there isn’t much more they can do to nerf thief without making it entirely unplayable. And as bad as that would be for a few months, if they make thief unplayable, they’ll eventually have to fix them, like warriors.
Not that I want to be OP, but I’d rather be OP than be nerfed without cause over and over and over again.

It was never intended to be a perma stealth crutch. Don’t rely on it so much, and you will be fine.
Absolutely not. Most commanders are terrible, secondly, we all paid the same amount to buy this game. Third as others said, everyone would have to buy tags. Terrible idea.
