Try now. Supposedly the patch fixed it.
With the new patch comes new names for the intermediate precursor skins Chaos Gun (now Lyssa’s Gaze) and The Hunter (now Perfected Rifle). These used to share their names with the precursor skins in the next tier. Now, they are their own entities.
Rodgort’s Flame, however, is still in that position, and should probably be changed too.
Before you proceed with giving it a completely conventional name like Perfected Torch, I ask you to consider the (mostly sketchy) lore of Rodgort, as there is a perfect alternative that honors his origins:
Rodgort’s Rotaninrub
Those that know will understand.
Reaching sign-off on an episode doesn’t mean we’re done. Now we integrate the episode content with the other updates that ship in this release, and with localized text and voice-over, and we do final testing of all that. To give a sense of the scope of this process, this update has about 1,500 distinct lines of new voice dialog, each of which must be recorded, integrated, and tested in each supported language. For the player character’s voice, we separately record each race/sex combination in each language, so that means 40 actors for each line.
When I read this, the first thing that came to my mind was, how is that not done yet? Trying to juggle 40 people’s schedules and make appointments for them all in two weeks can’t be easy. Never mind that there may be changes to the script which could call for one or more to rerecord their lines. Do you give these guys some warning that they’re going to be called in for such-and-such a time frame?
I think I’ll have to save this question for the next AMA.
When I did HOPE, there were a bunch of trophies that I did not actually receive, just given credit for. I expect yours is working the same way.
Minstrel III: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ode_to_the_High_Wizard
Apparently this doesn’t count for the defend version of the High Wizard. I just participated in the defend event where the High Wizard was killed (and I helped kill him). Tried playing the song right after he died and then again after the event succeeded. No collection progress was made.
I would like to say I also encountered this. Combine this with the fact that people are now unwilling to let the event fail even when asked, and this is impossible for me to complete.
My advice regarding grouping up with [TZ] applies to you too. They attempt to do a full assault on Arah every night, though it might take a while to get a good map.
Good detective work.
Yo, devs, lookie here
I’ve been troubleshooting HOPE issues for a couple of months now, and this is the first time I’ve heard of this problem with getting cores.
Cores can only be obtained from the fight at the Blighting Towers. The encounters during the approach and during the final fight with Mordremoth will not give cores. Cores are awarded once all the masters are dead. It seems you are managing this, though. Having the converter on-hand is supposedly optional. Can you think of any reason why you might not have been given the stavemaster core this time but you got the other two?
Guild Speargun not available from Weapon Embosser (WvW)
Item 78394 Spangenhelm of the Warrior has skin 2036, should be skin 258?
Item 67118 Ardent Glorious Raiment has skin 5628, I assume should be 5641
Item 18747 what the hell?
Skin 4879 Did we really need a double of 4060?
(edited by Sariel V.7024)
That’s not a recipe, though.
We’ve run into something similar here at work. It boils down to the character set that is used to transfer text across the internet. The game itself is windows-based, and as such you’ll probably be able to copy/paste what you like into the chat box, but the character set used for communication is different and more limited.
Bloomanoo and Penelopee, the harbingers of doom!
Post your banner in a WvW borderland. Make sure it has no queue. There is only ever one instance of these.
Opening the chest isn’t necessary. Some people are even getting it with Bronze.
This one has been plaguing us for a while, and the discussion for how to get it is still ongoing. My current suggestion would be to make sure you 1. reset the adventure 2. ensure you are out of mushroom form before using the generator.
Like LazyDad suggests, it also depends upon the use to which you intend to put the staff. Casting staves can get frilly and ornate, but melee staves usually look better if they are sturdy and simpler, or suggestive of blades.
The API is essentially text data you access with a web connection, so Javascript should be fine.
I already thew my broken ones away like they were trash.
I predict a collection based on having the skin unlocked.
I’m willing to entertain it on a trial basis, but I think it’s a bad idea. Siege can be a game-changer, as is destroying siege, and making installations easier to bring back makes attacking fortified siege a perpetual slog.
So, like they’re saying this is almost certainly not a new and secret combination, but a random one that will return a random item.
On that path, has anyone ever seen the actual exotic shield cragstone?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cragstone
No, but I remember someone posting about making it.
It’s not necessarily official, but it is an answer.
As for the butterflies you don’t see, when your character runs with a weapon with sparse particle effects, they stream behind the character. Look between her and the screen bottom and you will see the butterflies.
I don’t see any butterflies in the video, not even in the linked time (3m28s).
[&AvqCLAEA] ; you can adjust it so it gets to lower stacks, this is just the code that I screenshotted with the 250 Reforged Caladbolg.Odd that it isn’t listed in any of the databases.
It’s not odd. When you play with chatcodes, you can see things that you weren’t intended to see. But you need a little practice to interpret what you find, and knowledge of how the chat codes work and can be manipulated is a must. Like, posting a stack of 250 Reforged Caladbolgs is going to raise some red flags. Like a Banana of Penetration.
The item is there, but not currently in the game. It is an actual weapon, level 80 exotic. Unless that’s the PvP version, it’s not coming from the gem store. The wardrobe entry suggests it is something we will eventually get, but that’s not guaranteed.
I know GW2 was slated to have 2-h Axes at launch, but I’m curious, where’s the continued interest coming from? WoW?
There are two 2-H axes still in the game that I know of. One is a mordrem axe that’s npc-only, the other is a staff you kinda have to squint to see.
It’s not so amazing (not that I wouldn’t use it, mind you, but the blade to haft ratio is too low).
I think it will return, eventually, but I wouldn’t advise holding your breath in the meantime.
Altering your visual quality settings will get you something you can actually read. But that head is creepy in the light.
Interesting, the wiki doesn’t say anything about them being forgeable. What all have you tried combining them with?
That kind of info usually doesn’t get to the wiki until there’s a known recipe.
This is getting ridiculous! It is totally against the whole idea of a non RNG way to acquiring a precursor. I’ve spent like 10 hours with my TEN characters farming effing corals!! Get your kitten together Anet! And i’m pretty much definite it’s not supposed to work like this as I have like tons of Vials of Cobalt Salts, from farming Iron, that I guess work pretty much the same way.
I started posting regions with coral on wiki a few months back, partly in response to this thread, but mostly as an answer to a different problem I was having: farming orbs.
Coral is the only node that gives a guaranteed gemstone, every time (not counting Blooming Passiflora). The interesting thing is that there are a couple spots on land where a coral commonly shows up, down by Rotbeard and near Izzmek’s second beacon on the way to Temple of Melandru.
I stuck with the high-level regions like Cursed Shore and Malchor’s Leap, because once you leave there, you don’t get orbs. The locations I see above though suggest you guys might need to hit lower level nodes, because Straits and Mount Maelstrom are mithril-platinum tier resources, and all the gripes on rarity make me think the Manganese Oxide may be level-locked.
I ran into this in the Tears of Itlaocol puzzle. That head looks extra-creepy with all the light.
Yep, the caves immediately adjacent to the Vale Waypoint in western Queensdale are glowing – both inside and out and with such ferocity that they can be seen clean across the valley in Claypool.
It’s that troll runestone, isn’kitten All this ley-line activity is going to make it go supernova.
three down, four to go XD
Since the launch of the game there have been a couple of armour sets that were obtained in very strange ways, the strangest imo is the Stalwart armour set. While the Stalwart Chestpiece was obtained from a level ~30 story chapter, the rest of the set was only obtainable through PvP. (At the time pvp skins and pve skins were still seperated).
There were three sets like this, one for each weight. You could earn the complete set through PvP; they were just kind enough to give us plebs in PvE a shot at a piece.

Heh. Something Mr. Penguin and I can agree on In my case, I want to go the other direction though. I want a spindly Norn, not one that looks like he’s made of hams.
The big problem with Torch kills is Burning. A death due to a condition damage packet will not register as a weapon kill, and the Burning is likely to outperform the damage of the Torch. There’s also the fact that a Mesmer can’t get a Torch kill, because none of the Mesmer Torch skills do direct damage.
As they’ve said above, look for ambient creatures, which have next to no hit points or armor and therefore won’t live long enough to register burning damage. And stay off your Mesmer.
You can find most combinations summarized here
The main problem with cool skins is that they’re still really expensive, even from the forge.
I’m not sure what page you are getting your information from, so here are a few to add:
The Crossing, The Mad Moon, Arachnophobia: While these are Halloween-centric, with some parts requiring expensive recipes, you can get all the finished parts off the trade post and then forge them.
Nightwing: This ‘shoulder skin’ actually is an aura of bats. Ridiculous expensive though.
Phantasmal and Spirit weapons: The first cost lots of ecto. The latter costs Charged Lodestones by the ton.
Ambrosia: Very cheap, compared to the rest.
Immobulus: This used to be the most expensive item in the game, thanks to the rarity of Giant Eyes. As those have become cheap, so has this weapon.
Volcanus: The ultimate in Fiery Greaatsword goodness.
The Anomaly: Phenomenal Cosmic Power in an itty-bitty grasping space.
Tomes/Quivers: Ascended back items that cost a stack of some material.
Spinal Blades: Ascended back item that looks like a jet-pack crossed with a spider. For a pretty penny, you can even get one that is colored.
Light of Dwayna/Shadow of Grenth/Chaos of Lyssa: More ascended backpieces with an affiliation for particular gods. Melandru’s is crafted, and Balthazar’s is a PvP track reward (skin only).
It’s an issue we know about, but haven’t really the foggiest on suggesting much of a solution. I posted a method that worked for me on the wiki, but it seems you’ve found yet another solution.
If they were, indeed, lost, they’ll probably be back for LS3. Well, cross your fingers anyways.
Didnt Colin leave almost right after he said he’d check on it? It seems like this would be something that Mike would have to look into now..
No, he had a few months in between. I kept tabs.
Yes. Pay no attention to the gate leaking magic and causing chests and packages to animate back there. >.>
Funny question
What type of weapons is most used? Ie. across all professions&builds what kind of weapon is most frequently used? I did play only 3 chars enough to be able to say and rest is bit fuzzy for me… but from what I know top 3 would be like this:1) 1h sword
2) staff
3) GSBut please correct me if I am wrong.
I am asking this because as alt-oholic I want to craft my next legendary usable on chars I have not even created yet
Carcharias is pretty darn special.
(edited by Sariel V.7024)
I’m voting for Lyssa or Dwayna’s realm (screw FoW and the Underworld, we’ve spent 10+ years there in the first game).
I recommend reposting this as [SUGGESTION] Mad Moon Back skin.
An old friend of mine from GW1 – Heals for Cookies
I repeatedly obliterated a miniature city, scrambled across the inside of a snowglobe, rang bells, delivered clothes and toys, and drunk myself into idiocy in order to procure a portable snowstorm.
Too soon, sir. 7500 days too soon.
Yes, I posted something about serious burnout then, too. At least my daily present is up to 12 silver now.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4o279r/is_it_really_okay_for_bl_weapon_skins_to_be/d48yu0conly 6000g for exchange …..
This is a great method to deteriorate the exchange of gold in gems….
This is pretty close to what it would cost to get a full set of Immortal skins, so, A+ for consistency.
redacted. look above if you want the gory details
Except it’s the people who just want to enjoy these skins themselves who are getting a raw deal here.
For people who just want to make a profit on black lion keys absolutely nothing has changed, they just exchange any tickets they happen to get for a skin from another set and carry on as before. It’s the people who actually like the skins and want to be able to use them who are stuck having to keep paying out and hoping they get lucky because they have no guaranteed way to get them.
For the record I don’t actually want any of the skins myself either. But I’ve been in the exact same situation with different items so I know how horrible it feels, and how much worse it feels when people who can’t even understand what the problem is try to tell you that you’re over reacting.
Well Dani, you may be happy to hear I got infracted for that one. ;D
You’re right, the ones who actually want to use the skins are the ones that are more likely to be edged out of the market. Maybe I should be more concerned about them, but they’re not the ones I see complaining the loudest. For a long time, these weapon skins have been trumpeted as investment stock, something to be horded and fobbed off on the desperate at exorbitant prices. Any wrinkle in the economy that ripples into that brings a lot of wailing from the whales. Any more of this and I’m going to devolve into a full-on rant and get infracted again. ;D
It’s not our goal to make you feel like a chump for buying chests.
Of course not, that’s the goal of other players. The BLTC sells KEYS. ;D
Kidding aside, I still have no desire to buy these weapons.
Right now it’s making me do a Picard-facepalm.
