Mordrem Vinewrath - Marionette mark 2?

It’s easy. Managed to organize it and kill it. The only possible problem it’s on 2nd boss. When he moves away, you must FOLLOW him and enter a white semi-circled area, otherwise it stuns you and eventually kills you.

What bothers me is:

  • 1: Shouldn’t had been in SilverWastes. That map is already too much clusted with events and people that does the jumping puzzle, or wants only this boss and not the breach or the castles or whatever… they just don’t help or stay afk.
  • 2: That it’s gated by something like breach is a fail. Should had been on a timer like every other world boss.

I want to agree to say its “easy”, but only because we fought a battle like this before, and those who are experienced now what to say and tell people what to do. Hence, it seems " easy". The one I was on that won, we still got to 13/15 seige lost, so it was still a nail biter. As it toes in, it’ll get “easier” and we’ll hear “no challenging content” again.

I actually believe gating it behind a breach is a good idea. I don’t believe it will stop the server hopping, but this will encourage people that if you want this boss to happen more often, actually defend each Garrison and upgrade it asap. I believe people said a breach can happen every 40min if done right, which I like more than being put on a timer.

They needed hopping from boss to boss in a breach with extractors, so unless you really want just one more bag, no point in running now. So it should encourage people to now what bosses to not aoe on now….

I was probably on one of the first servers to complete, and although we started to fail at first, people started to communicate real fast in map. People pointed out seige, air strikes, and what to do inside boss room (yay reading). Maybe servers who didn’t do that first and failed thought it hard, but I can see this becoming farmable like teq.

Heck it gives incentives to protect and level garrisons faster to get to event faster.

What time can we expect the patch?

It worked fine with GW1. Of course people would like to have things for free but Anet employees have to eat too. I think they eat… Drink, they drink for sure…

They feed off forum rage and drink player tears….

They reserved the largest room for the longest amount of time of anyone at the conference… if that isn’t hype then what is?

Oh, I am fully aware about what they have done. But they have not SAID anything at all about it. Without people checking PAX we would not even know about it at this time. And that is a rather large difference.

The community is hyping it up. ArenaNet have done nothing other than scheduling an event.

Haha, agreed. There’s going to be so many disappointed people, if it’s anything less than an expansion, or expansion-type content.

The fans can’t be blamed though. It’s all up to Anet to kill the hype or not, but they won’t.

but the fans are making the hype….

What did you get from the final daily reward?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Serophous.9085

Serophous.9085

So in essence:
Legendary reward – only if you need clovers, obsidian shards aren’t that hard in the first place.

Tomes – only if you have multiple alts not maxed.

Ascended mats – bolts yay! Everything else boo (see below)

Laurals – can be converted to t6 mats (which you need more so than what you get out of the “legendary” reward), and if you sell them, its better to go that route than gambling with the ascended box and hope for bolts of damask.

I think these rewards need some tweaking.

People really should keep in mind that ArenaNet have said a grand total of nothing about this as far as I am aware.

The only reason this thread exists is due to the fact that someone saw that they had a scheduled appearance on the PAX homepage. ArenaNet themselves have however not even mentioned it.

I highly doubt that the CEO and Director would stand there for 90 minutes without having anything substantial to say.

I could see that, actually. They just stand on the stage for 90 minutes looking vaguely uncomfortable with nothing to say. It would make Andy Kaufman proud.

Can’t you guys just wait until the 13th? I mean they’ve teased the release with Rytlock’s picture, so chances are we could learn something new about him then.

Oh and we might get another teaser tomorrow…

They teased the last release with a pic of him too, but that just turned out to be all about Caith. Maybe we will get something, but I’m not holding my breath, unless this update is massive. The last few have been very short.

I don’t want to say massive, but supposedly big, going by the trailer. First, its back to the priory to find out how to open the door, chances are in that part, the ghost will appear. The next two parts can be either or. We will go to the cave and unlock it, then do caiths memory, confront her, and the big reveal of the egg. Then the pact base will be attacked, and we must run to save it. Chances are, one more piece then, either fighting the shadow dragon, fighting that weird massive flower monster we saw, or seeing mord rise.

Either way, if no new info is learned of rytlock in it, it gets a -1 automatically. Bring back the kitten of DE already.

Then, chances are, the silverwastes may expand a bit more, and/or a boss event after breach event.

Home instance differences??

I’m of the opinion that the human home instance it’s the only one with looking at. The sylvari one makes sense, I guess, what with yen being rather communal and all, but… The norn home instance seems more like a homeless shelter than a proper lodge.

The asura krewe lab is bland and very uninteresting.

The charr barracks makes sense, but like the sylvari home instance, is boring and uninspired.

I wish they people that designed these things actually cared to make stuff that had even the vaguest hint of interest in what was being made demonstrated.

The human home instance is the only one that seems like it wasn’t spat out in ten minutes by a disinterested party, in sum.

I don’t expect that to ever change.

hey, i like my charr barracks hiding the wintersday tree all the way in the back behind some buildings and metal tyvm….

Buy your Sheets of Charged Ambrite if you want it quickly.

Its so easy for you to say that its nothing to veteran players because we “have a lot already”, which isn’t necessarily true, and that it only “hurts” new players. This approach can be taken towards so many things in the game. The demand for immediate satisfaction. It cheapens the efforts for those that have come before you but you don’t really care about that.

As an example:
How would you feel if Luminescent armor skins became available for just a few laurels in a year from now? All the time and effort that so many people put into getting them through the original way the devs designed it to be — reduced to a simple and cheap laurel purchase a year or two later. Perhaps because new players started crying about having to wait and/or work at it.

I’m sure many of you for this change will completely disregard my opinion on this. It still needed to be said.

Your example is of LS1 skins <.<

If it got deleted by reddit, maybe it wasn’t really all innocent fun.

My speculation on that is either the people asked for it to be deleted, or the mods didn’t get it was a fake thread and just deleted it (as people in the thread even thought this was real, adding to the humor), or (and most likely) reedit is nipping this in the butt of fake AMAs appearing more often, and can confuse people trying to find real AMAs. So there isn’t two sets of confusing information going around.

Serophous.9085

I am of mixed feelings about a thread that exists to call out and make fun of individual employees of a company in a situation where those employees likely cannot respond in kind.

On one hand it seems a pretty solid indication of hypocrisy and cowardice as the thread(s) do not include posters’ real names, employer, and workplace address for others to expand the, “fun,” to them.

On the other hand it is so much easier and safer to make fun of people that you know generally cannot respond in kind. Right?

If they would get offended by this, then comedy like SNL which plays as mock famous people, would be removed from the air.

The people who make fun of celebrities on SNL have their own names up on screen every week. Their workplace (SNL) is public knowledge. They are not hiding behind the anonymity of the internet while making fun of individual employees of a company. Individual employees of a company are not generally celebrities of the sort lampooned on SNL. Generally they are not allowed to respond in kind. A Hollywood actress can generally say what she wants to her critics (though its often a good idea to ignore childish teasing).

So, even if these guys names were known, these childish readings will be ignored anyway? The thread was meant to be fun at poke at some stuff. None of it seemed mean, I mean they go on able tables, but all in good humor. If it was taken down out of respect for death of a pet, then more to them. If it wasn’t, then shame on mods.

Let’s not detract this by looking into what’s not there.

OK, I’m going to try and be helpful here.

The one daily is basically do any fractal instance. ANY FRACTAL. Not a full run, just one instance if it. Set to lv 1.

There are ones that are really easy, that you can complete. If you don’t get one of these on the first try, everyone exit and reenter, getting a new one.

Look for:
Battle for ascalon – you’ll be turned in a charr, run along the outer edge, avoiding all mobs, run along wall, and range kill siegemaster dulfy. The only hard part could be the seige in the middle of the city, which just takes time to destroy.

Free the giant – slightly harder than ascalon, because its longer and has a mechanic. Kill the guy at the beginning, grab his hammer. You’ll get stacks as you hold it, it you reach 40, you are downed. Drop it and let someone else take till yours go away. The purpose of the hammer is to break the seals, which to do so, wail on a cleric a bit till everyone kills it, target the seal and press 4. The only hard part here is the hand seals, which someone should stay at one as you have to alternate between the two, but at level one, you should be killing fast enough it should matter. If you ever lose the hammer and can’t find, everyone die. It will respawn near you.

That’s what I can think of off the top of my head. If you hate the giant, then keep rolling for ascalon. Its seriously just run through, kill everything, win.

Just watched this (was retweeted by GW2 twitter, though without the starting time)- http://youtu.be/GWftbufww3M?t=25m10s , and if they are correct, that the hall this panel is in is the biggest, then this must have some kind of really big announcement.
Or it could wind up being the next biggest disappointment.

It’s always possible that they took that stage because that was the only one open when they asked for a spot.

Please people, remember that it’s not ANet hyping it up this time. It’s the players. Go in with an open mind, but low expectations.

first , I seriously doubt that the only spot they could get that was available was at the main stage aka the place where most people are focusing on and everyone who is there would love to be on .
When i think ’ getting the only spot available " i imagine getting placed at a rickity little stage in the farthest corner of the backside parking lot :p

Secondly , if this is simply the announcement of S3 of living story which continues in the same fashion kitten or another feature pack ,why then is it not done via a YT video or an article as they have been doing now ?
Why do they feel the need to have the PRESIDENT OF ARENANET and Collin there to anounce it at PAX up on the Main stage for over 90 Minutes ?

Guys , You can be the most Cynical person on this forum and be as angry at ANET as you like , but even you would have to Admit that something big is coming .

True, but I’m a pessimist. I always keep my expectations low in any event.

Honestly I would rather see a vendor value added to them and coding that allowed them to be sold to the vendor using the “sell junk” button.

Barring that an option to block non-sellable crafting materials from being picked up. As it stands the existence of these mats means another chore to keep inventory space open, without any benefit, for me.

In general, I think adding vendors like they did for 4 Winds festival would’ve been better than what we have now. Donate excess ascended mats to help rebuild LA, what the vendor would give in return, no idea.

“…we’re setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe.”

ArenaNet: perpetually planning to prepare to iterate big things that may or may not make it into the game.

This, two plus years of this, is anyone really surprised that so many people are jaded, apathetic or flat out cynical? I wish I could attend Pax just to see how this will all go down.

Right? Anet made this bed and has to sleep in it. Upon hearing the news of the announcement I was hopeful and excited. But now? Hesitant.

Now if the announcement was, “Join Colin and Mike as they unveil GW2’s first expansion, and find out which continent players will have a chance to revisit 250 years after the defeat of the Great Destroyer.” That alone is enough to get me back on board.

I still predict marketing of content-deliver via LS and absolutely no releases or updates scheduled for 2015 outside of the LS’s and QoL “improvements” should anyone prefer to call what we’ve gotten in two and a half years as “improvements.”

I’d love for this prediction to be way off the mark upon announcement.

But I’m not getting my hopes up at all.

Improvements:
Account Wallet
Magic find removed from gear and account bound now
AP rewards
Account bonuses
Wardrobe
WvW Ranks (and then account wide)
Improved WvW loot
Champs dropping bags
SPVP loot improved
Siege kicking off AFKers
Salvaging made easier….
Culling removed

I think that’s just the tip….

Top 5 things ANET got Right

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Serophous.9085

Serophous.9085

Ya know, I was gonna try to post this topic before anyone else :p

5. Living World STORY – I mentioned in my other topic that it was the GAPS and length of the episodes is what they got wrong. But what they got right was at least the story, and some world events, like the Marionette boss. LS 1 wasn’t perfect story wise, but LS 2 is making up for it, as I am still intrigued and wanting to know what happens. And if that is what I feel, then its done right.

4. Super Adventure Box – I probably could’ve swapped this and LS back and forth, as they both had some flaws. But SAB won this spot because of mostly nostalgia. Sure, world 2 wasn’t as great as world 1. It was waaay too long (even saying increasing the length, this was just way too much of an increase), and so few baubles, you had to grind world 1 to buy stuff in w2. But in the end, I still went for achievements, I still searched for secrets and puzzles. I still. had. fun. And that’s all I want in a game.

3. The Wallet – My god did I love this. No more going from alt to alt to spend karma or give/deposit money in bank. More room in said bank as tokens moved there. Just…such a great update. So worth it.

2. SPVP reward tracks – I quit Spvp before because I was tired of rewards being nothing but RNG. Open chests, salvage, hope the forge gives you a skin you don’t have (which it mostly didn’t) rinse, repeat. The reward tracks have me testing the waters again, trying it out slowly and getting back into the swing of things. I feel like i am actually WORKING towards something and receiving a reward for that work. Sure, some armors and stuff have gone missing, but at least they saw the problem with the rewards system and worked to fix it.

Runners up:
Dailies – More rewarding, but I believe they need to add more choices to calm down the fury
Holidays – yeah, basically a repeat this year, and missing stuff from previous years (still miss the mad king dungeon), and some stuff in wintersday is bugged due to spvp update, but its ok.
Silverwastes – What’s mostly hurting silver wastes are harmful players, and just the gap of the LS, but other than that, love the loot, love the concept, love the JP.
Easier salvaging – God this small improvement was such a boon. If I did top 10, number 6 easily.
World boss rare chest – At least you now know you get something.

1. Wardrobe – Its a shame this was released beside the trait redesign. But I love the wardrobe. I love not having to keep skins in my bank to use when needed. I love how its organized, I love how you can build your look and color it before finalizing. And I love how dyes went account bound and you received more identified dyes for compensation XD (anyone else remember blue quality dies hitting near 50s at times before the patch? LoL). The only, ONLY complaint I can make of this is losing out on older skins because of lack of room in bank. Witch’s cap (can’t seem to use the real word), you shall be missed :’(

And where is the precursor crafting that we were promised?

No. You see, right here is what I was eluding to where the community takes some blame as well. THERE WAS NO PROMISE!

This, I highlight the very important bold part that people like to just gloss over

From the upcoming release of our brand spanking new Looking for Group (LFG) tool, to investigating ways to limit culling in PvE, to the two-week content schedule our Living World teams have in store, the second half of 2013 has countless more exciting new things in store for our players than I can possibly cover here. As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.

As a community, we need to stop people believe that everything can go perfect, that nothing can go wrong. They posted something like this after every update, as a ways to say “hey, we will work on it, BUT NO PROMISES”.

In fact, if they say “hey, we did work on it, it didn’t turn out right. We had to scrap it and start over.” I would be fine with that, because, i read the whole blog, and not just what I wanted to read.

Interesting opinion OP. I can see where you’re coming from. The only one I’m not sure about is 3.

I’m not sure that depth and breaks should even be listed together really. They’re different things.

But it’s a pretty fair list of the five things about the game I like the least. I suppose in all fairness there are more things I like than dislike but there are definitely things I dislike.

My own list would look like this.

5. The way the personal story was changed in the NPE.
4. The introduction of Ascended Gear
3. Lack of strong guild features (among them inability to send a message to everyone in the guild)
2. The New Trait System
1. The Communication Policy

Some of the things in my list could broken down into other lists, but I felt at least that because of the pieces working together, it can hurt as a whole, so I based my decisions on that.

As for the red mark, I’m OK with there really not being a post. I would’ve liked to hear whosever thought it was, but I’m satisfied knowing this was read, which is all some of us want.

My biggest thing with the ’don’t tell’ policy is that they don’t just not tell for release info, if they don’t have anything definite they can say, they don’t say anything. I mean the crickets are deafening. The second problem is they need to have real player feedback. If they are going to do the ’don’t talk until release’ thing, they need a test server, with a decent group of dedicated test players who can try the changes out, then give good, solid feedback. The devs are so enamored of their own ideas, they are NOT neutral test subjects.

The problem with the ptr idea is that WAS done before for wvw guilds, and now look at EoTM. While it shouldn’t be discreditted for one bad time, it leaves a bad taste. Hence why even I don’t believe a ptr will help much.

As for other people who may say I got some wrong or didn’t list right ones, I narrowed mine down, and summarized the best I could. Another one would’ve been the loot bug issue that wasn’t responded to about for so long. That would’ve been 6.

Thaddeus – I separate the npe and traits because they were different patches. The npe has some flaws, but its not as bad as people believe.

Andred – I was talking about how it was implemented, not its function. As well as if you reread, I also blame part of the community as well for throwing such tantrums, and never reading the full article.

Edgar – I didn’t mean in the way of “introduce 50 traits all at once”, do a few a year, that’s fine. I said I understand balance needs.

Look, the cdis were/are a great start for communication. I love Chris for starting them, and other devs joining in at times. But the other reason I like them because they show WHAT they are looking into and perhaps working on. Chris stated and made clear things there are not promises, and both he and those participating made sure that was known.

I want to see that happen in state of the game blogs. Just a " here is what we are looking in to, what may come, but no promises!" Just like the CDIs. If anything, make it a list of potential cdi topics.

Top 5 things Anet got wrong

With over two years, I decided to look back and see IN MY OPINION, what were Anet’s top 5 mistakes. Note, there are others that could’ve made this list, but I had to narrow it down.

5. Introduction of Ascended Gear – Leaving beta, everyone though Exotic was the end gear, no need to worry bout anything else. Look, if Ascended was intended from the get go, there should’ve been some mention of it as the game left beta. “We didn’t get everything in the game guys, there may be something beyond exotic”. At least then there would’ve been a heads up. Then, when we finally got armor, i don’t think they thought well ahead on what it would do to cloth prices (mainly), and half to introduce new ways of getting lower tier cloth (bandit chests, gem store, etc). It was just a bad implementation that still needs more tweaks.

4. Lack of new Skills/weapons – When I learned about how fun it was to make OP skills for Caithe, I felt a small boil of rage starting to rise. Its great they made new skills just for her, for her story, but what about my character? Where are his new skills to try and new builds to make? We got what? One new healing skill for a specialized event? I understand balance, but you can only tweak a skill so much. Blizzard learned this with Hearthstone. You can tweak a card so much, before its just better to introduce more cards to create counters. Instead of nerfing or buffing, introduce another skill that may compliment or counter.
And yes, where are our two handed axes? Flails, whips, land spears? Something else to give us a different style of play?

3. Living story gaps/length – For something that gets touted a lot as being a new way to introduce story, it goes on hiatus a lot. I understand that it takes time to make that content, and to make sure everything works. But with a two week schedule, we end of getting a small bite, cliffhanger after cliffhanger, and long waits after so many chapters that interest begins to fade. Either the two week schedule needs to disappear, or more people need to be hired.

2. Trait redesign – Respec on the spot? Nice. Free? Nice. How to acquire? God awful. Once hitting the level to be able to get traits, if you want to get a specific one, have fun waiting as its in a higher level zone. Or in a place you don’t like to play, or across the world where you would have to travel for so long, and hope the random event will happen and not fail. What was there in the beginning should’ve been a base, and new traits to “capture” scattered around. Once you get that second trait point, there really is no point to put it somewhere, as you would have to have been lucky to get the trait you wanted.

1. Anet’s Policy – “We talk about it when its done.” God I hate this policy. I really really hate it. Its backfired so many times already. Colored tags, ascended gear, trait revision, everything can be retraced back to this policy.
Why is it bad? Because when you want to talk about it “when its done”, and the reaction is bad, then you have two choices. Charge forward (choice mostly taken), or go back and tweak a small thing (only so far the commander colors). And in later patches, you have to change and tweak this new thing, then it was never really done, was it?

This policy needs to go. Its what hampers more communication (imo), and has affected the players more negatively than positively. I blame it mostly for no more State of the Games (most of the community takes blame for this loss too), and I blame it for much of the ire that is seen today on the forums. The CDIs are nice, but once they are over, we don’t hear the finally words on whats being done till ‘its done’.

Its just bad to tie down so much information. Unbind the straps at least a little (and I don’t mean give so many vague answers!)

The author of the article has eloquently expressed what the veteran players all know.

I really like the idea of account bound craftable precursors. Not only would the playbase finally have a means to get a legendary without having to grind gold until their fingers bleed, but in a LOT of ways, it would deal with the horrendous inflation attached to precursors. (John Smith’s regular dismissal of any financial complaint aside, the economy is broken where precursors and ascended crafting materials is concerned.)

if you understand supply and demand, you would get why its not broken

Game of gold sellers

people actually listening to them and buying gold. Thus they get hacked, thus the gold sellers have another account to start selling gold with.

Also people who have weak passwords

Also people who fall for the phishing emails.

Anet can only do so much, the loop hole is people themselves not educated when something is a scam

Zoltreez… Just log in and see for yourself, there is no subscription after all. If you don’t like what you see, then log out and deinstall. Half of these negative comments are either invalid or questionable.

thats not how it works for me.

i want to see OVERALL what the playerbase thinks of the game atm.
trying to get into another mmo but i dont want my time go in waste in a game where devs just give it up and slowly goes into maintance mode.

thats why im asking what the Playerbase thinks about it to see where its heading.

forums =/= player base
forums are a small fraction of the entire playerbase. Not to mention, that would require everyone who visits the forums to reply to your thread, causing it to span on for pages on end that you would have to sift through in order to figure out if the game is “good”. Not to mention, as said above, people still post here who have quit months ago, or even a year, and still post here, so are those posts even valid when more updates come out?

Not to mention, what if the people who say the game is great, are too busy playing to even respond to this thread? Then you are left with people who are irritated at not getting exactly what they wanted and telling you its bad.

Install, log in, play, decide your own opinion. It costs you nothing but some time. Actually, you could probably be using said time posting on the forums and scanning to be downloading the game and installing…

Imagine: if GW2 had no level progression

hm, we could’ve then implemented some system of progression where you have to complete certain tasks to acquire your traits, like killing a certain mob, completing an event….

people would get behind that, right?

I gonna "manipulate" a market! ROUND 2

So an experiment showing how 1 single player can and did manipulate a market. Where is John Smith now? Would like to hear what he has to say about it.

Manipulating to gain a profit isn’t easy, but we’ve seen here its plausible to control one. Crashing a market (like I did in WoW when I quit) can be fun, but usually temporary as other players buy up, or players see cheap and buy.
