The Living Story has been nothing but GLOOM AND DOOM THE WORLD IS ENDING for months now.

Are you entirely sure you’ve been playing GW2? Because with this update we complete 4 straight months of nothing but parties and festivals.

And we haven’t had a festival in which the aetherblades didn’t try to kill everyone since Christmas.

Although to be fair, we did shoot down their airships at the Bazaar, so they didn’t really have much to do there (except try to get their gold back)

Well, they never managed to actually stop any of the festivals, so I don’t think I can take them seriously… The entire time it feels like we’re in the Pokemon anime series and they play the role of Team Rocket…

Well, I now know what I’ll be thinking every time an Aetherblade gunship flies away… “Team Rocket is blasting off again!!!”

In Spvp I use knights amulet w/ soldier’s jewel (iirc). Stats are nowhere near as high as they normally are in wvw, but it’s close enough.

Once again, II will make this very clear..I’’m talking about the constant (Perma) Duration of of Warriors Hammer Stuns

Once a Warriors Hammer knocks you down, you are instantly unconscence-due to Stun duration, and as you regain consicence from Stun duration; another Stun Blow is Initiated while still remaining on the ground, than again and again until the Final Blow.

Why not Admit to your Hammers Perm-Stun ability?

Here’s a fun story for you TheGuy.3568, I hope you learn something from it.
When I first hit lvl 80 on my warrior I didn’t use any condition removal foods, shouts, or anything of the sort. Once the meta of ‘lol condi spam’ became popular, I didn’t complain on the forums that x-y-z traits / builds were OP, I just respecced completely to not only be able to fend off conditions (via healing shouts), but also be able to resist direct damage, yet have decent dps output (via a combo of pvt / knights / zerker gear.)

This build that I came up with didn’t just come together instantly, it took thought and planning for it to come together. I don’t follow anyone’s builds on the forums because I like to figure out my own builds / playstyles. So if you’re telling me that just because you don’t want to respec to better handle CC builds so your idea is just to try and complain about it as much as possible hoping that the devs will listen to you then all I have to say is L2P.

At this point this is my only rebuttal for you and all the other whiners about our CC build since you just won’t accept that it has plenty of counters:

The issue with the shield in large scale fights isn’t that the shield skills themselves are bad but that our one handed weapons are poor for this kind of combat.

Scepter is single target on the auto attacks, I shouldn’t have to say any thing more about that.

Sword while amazing for smaller groups offers nothing special to large group play. The blink and rooted projectile block lose there usefulness when you are trying to stay with your main group.

Mace is not a terrible option but still doesn’t compare to hammer, staff or even great sword in terms of usefulness in large scale combat.

Just gotta find ways of making it work. For example; using sword #3 ranged block in front of a pile of enemies trying to chip away at your group / zergs health, the blink is fantastic at causing disruption when you pop in a zerg since a large number of said enemies will try to target you, thus taking pressure off everyone else.

The warrior class need a Shout and a Stance elite. The banner, Sigil and Transform elites doesn’t really help a support/tank warrior a lot and they become, not useless but less desireable by a party.

Examples of new shout and stance elite skills for the warrior.

Beast’s Last Stand – Absorb 75% of all incoming damage for 4 seconds. Release up to XXXX damage absorbed to each enemy, up to 5 enemies.
Type: Stance
Cooldown?

With the trait that increase the time of all stances by 25% this will get 5 seconds instead of 4 seconds.
Edit: Also a trait that reduce cd by 20%.

Your elite stance idea sounds a lot like Galio’s ult from LoL, in which case I’d 200% approve of lol. I would literally sit in red circles just to reflect all that damage back to enemies.

Way I see it the reason why gear is so easy to acquire in this game is to make you focus on improving your personal skill with your character(s), in addition to acquiring the look you want for him/her/them. This game is very much active combat based, so different builds play very differently to others. IIRC ascended armor / weapons are in the works, so that’s something to look forward to if anything.

Honestly, i think this trait need an upgrade to work with disabled foes, and continue in adept trait.

Hmm with that logic shouldn’t blademaster and Right-Handed Strength be adept also. On that note the trait works vs any stunned target. If you were to say “lock” the damage to those 3 weapons I could see your point making sense. However, in this case one you apply the stun you could switch to higher DPS weapon and capitalize.

No because both of those skills mentioned are a permanent crit percent chance increase, rather than a specific condition crit chance increase. Stuns, while effective, can be easily countered with stability / stun breaks, which take away that +50% crit chance. If your counter argument is that ‘oh well some builds don’t run stability’ then that’s their choice. My particular warrior build only has 1 stun break and no stability (I run triple shouts) and if I get hard CC’d to death that’s on me for not running some stability. Please some QQ’ing about this, it’s getting old.

Does anyone know if the endurance regen food stacks with the Natural Vigor trait? Haven’t been online in over a week to test it out. T_T

Bullkitten. So I have to change builds, traits and weapon sets in order to counter a single class but get owned by 7 others. That makes perfect sense!

I had to change my build to counter the current condition meta that’s been floating around, while still maintaining my tanky dps playstyle. Am I upset? Nope. You adapt and move on.

P.S. I also changed my ranger’s build from the ground up to be able to better handle conditions and stuns, but his playstyle hasn’t changed at all. What’s your excuse lazy kitten

Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve made a real post on this side of the forums, but I wanted to share with y’all a revamp to a build I was running with on my ranger.

Well after seeing that the condition meta doesn’t really seem to be shifting around much, I changed up the build to be able to better handle both direct damage as well as persistent condition damage. Here it is!

While it doesn’t have a lot in terms of persistent condition removal aside from evasive purity, the -20% duration and empathic bond help shake off anything outside of poison and blinds. I will also use lemongrass soup for additional condition duration negation, but the added hp regen from mango pie with signet of the wild basically give me ~120 hp regen per second, which is quite handy with general sustain. I’m going to make a video showing off the revamped build soon as I can get some days off from work. Hope y’all give it a shot and let me know what your thoughts are!

Does anyone know if the bowl of orrian truffle and meat stew’s +40% endurance regen effect stack with the natural vigor minor trait? If it does then I’ll be using that instead of mango pie since that’s essentially 90% endurance regen and free might stacks on dodge.

there is inherent design flaw in melee vs range in this game

ranged has no disadvantage even when trying to widen the gap because they can CAST while moving. this means melee will always dps only a certain percentage of the time, while ranged will have 100 percent dps uptime.

in WoW, warrior vs mage, if u close the gap on the mage, he has to try to kite you and his dps is lessened greatly while he is moving.

so gw2 desginers need to make up for this descrepency. yet i have the feeling this critical subtle detail will continue to go unoticed and melee-junkies will have a frustrating time enjoying pure melee builds in this game.

and guys i’ve been playing since release as a warrior. just can’t have fun as a melee warrior in this game. never have, and still can’t. i’m putting this game down and checking back hoping they can improve the melee warrior pvp experience.

I use a melee only build and I do just fine. Matter of fact here’s a video showing off my build:

I also have other videos showing off melee-centric combat both with my warrior and my ranger on my channel as well.

Getting through the fight itself is pretty easy if you have access to hard CC regularly (I did it on my mace/shield / gs warrior). What I did was stay in melee of both NPCs, and when the norn would toss the meat I’d stun the rock dog, grab the meat, and continue hitting them. Kept doing that until one of them had low health then I blew them up with everything I had. Usually by that point the other npc was just as messed up so they went down quickly as well.

As for the getting stunned every 4th meat eat I kept a stun breaker open just for it.

Don’t rage quit bro. It takes a lot more situational awareness to stay in melee as a warrior than most other classes. Just gotta be persistent and learn what tricks the other classes can do. If you can guess what your opponent is going to do then you can better ready yourself to counter them. =)

I got it on my warrior. I got it by just repositioning myself often so that my cleaves would hit new targets constantly.

Your argument that you’re doing well is again based on PPTs, which I and a number of others have mentioned isn’t what a lot of SBI fights for. We get on for actually fighting other players in various sized encounters as opposed to watching a number get higher. I’ve made it clear that my particular preference within the wvw areas are havoc squading or solo roaming/scouting. Even while solo roaming I flip camps / take merc camps and generally disrupt your supply flow. As I’ve also mentioned numerous times I judge how well my server does vs others based on what we’re able to do in a specific map as well as whatever skirmishes I come across. If I’m on EB and we’re able to maintain our areas without much difficulty and are able to make pushes into your or Ebay’s territory and win any field fights when we’re at even numbers or if we’re outnumbered then I chalk that up as a victory for us. Just a matter of playstyle philosophy differences between our servers.

You’re still just flat out wrong in saying we got overbuffed. We are now fairly strong in 1v1s, yet still lose to Mesmers and some Thief specs. In team fights the most we can do is lock down a single guy or stun 2 people for a shorter duration. You don’t see TPvP teams suddenly running double Warrior like you see double Necro. If a team wants a warrior they have to build around having them and most don’t see the point. I can attack their home and probably beat their light bunker but if they have 1 skill with Stability, a Stun Break, or Protection, I won’t be able to kill them in a timely manner even if I don’t miss a single skill, giving backup for them plenty of time to arrive. As for WvW it’s not a bad solo roaming build but in a zerg fight stun locking one dude isn’t exactly going to shape the battle.

I have to say the mace/shield / gs build can hold its own in wvw if you use each of the hard CC moves on different targets (which basically means you’re constantly moving and taging people). The GS blade trail throw helps with preventing enemies from being able to effectively escape, and of course whirlwind is good for either initiating into a zerg to avoid a large chunk of incoming fire as well as escaping. Also whirlwind attack can pop necro marks on the ground without you actually getting affected by them (iirc). I guess it’s all a matter of how you use the weapon combo to your advantage, but keeping 2-3 people unable to do anything or forcing their stun breaks / stability pops early is one step close to wiping them out (kinda like forcing someone’s flash skill out in LoL during early laning phase. You don’t kill them right away, but you take away their main means of survival.)

OMG.
