Make arcing slice give a prolonged weakness condition and I’ll use that bad boy all day! Overall the skill itself isn’t bad, but with fury not being a boon that’s hard to come by, it seems like fury overkill.

Range correction isn’t a nerf. People who’ve been playing since beta said that the range on sb shouldn’t have been what it was at launch.

I’ve played yesterday when the patch came in. After that i sticked with Healing Surge and feeled a little op with it.

Could defend a spot in tpvp against two guardians. I have 21k hp and with 3 bars adrenaline it’s nearly a full heal. It’s getting harder to kill me now and i will stick with healing surge.

If both of those Guardians were bunkers I’m not surprised. That is awesome though that healing surge finally is the big burst heal it’s meant to be though.

Thanks for your pity and support, I appreciate it.

Rangers have had it tough at times, good that you keep your chin up.
Hopefully us Warriors will be a worthy challenge to you Rangers one day, until then we will shine your shoes and feed your pets.

Lol bads gonna bad. It’s one thing if your build has hard counters to it, but don’t say ALL warriors are like that, because they’re not. Bunker regen rangers may take some time, but I’ve not seen one yet overcome my warrior or any of the warriors I do know that are decent. Don’t throw all warriors / warrior builds under the bus because you can’t hang.

Warrior’s may not be op atm (I wouldn’t give em that), but today my lvl 80 warrior comes main. That’s for certain. I did the same with necro when earlier patch hits. Was necro op? nope. Where they finally Viable: yes.

But here we go warrior main, lets see how long it will take them to nerf warrior (every profession I mained has been nerfed). So you should be scared.

The real Warrior buff these last few patches, have been the fact that they are actively nerfing other loved classes. This sounds crazy, I know.
Indirectly this is giving Warriors a HUGE buff, because when everyone is lowered to poo-poo status, WE WILL, float out on top as the smelliest and meanest one.

To be honest, I’d rather ALL classes be POWERFUL, DIVERSE and OP in their own sense, than have all classes in the game be dragged in the nerf mud and end up like lowly Warriors.

. . I don’t want this game to end up like other popular games (LoL, WoW, etc) where they simply make all classes/champions homogenous in order to easier balance the game . . . .

You must be truly terrible at LoL if you think all the characters are homogenous. Also why the negative nancy attitude there? If you actually read the patch notes rather than frothing at the mouth in re-re rage, a lot of classes got upgrades / improvements. The only actual nerf of any kind was terror’s damage reduction. That’s it. Everything else were fixes. Stop being a kitten and do some actual play testing before crying on the forums.

Like most classes warriors have a few viable / strong builds. Personally I don’t see the ‘sustain’ issue everyone seems to be crying about. I use this build and have had 0 problems in attrition engagements, fighting conditions builds, power builds, or against bunker builds:

First guess off hand is so that people don’t just buy a full exotic set of karma gear on one character for another. High end gear is already easy to acquire, but that would just be like handing it out if it was account bound 1st before equipping.

Personally my warrior is in a good spot because I have a build that works very well with how I wanted to play him. That aside though there are a few things I think that would greatly help other warrior builds / warriors in general.

- As a few mentioned previously having better access to weakness will give us a huge edge in fights. I’d take a consistent weakness application over protection any day of the week. Having 4-8 seconds of consistent 25% chance of taking 50% reduced damage > 4 sec of 33% reduced damage on a 20+ sec cooldown imo.

- This is more for axes in specific, but having a ranged evade or traited reflect ability tied into whirling axe / cyclone axe / moves that have a weapon spin would provide a greater battle presence in all aspects of the game (whirlwind attack is a perfect example of this). Thieves dagger storm for example reflects all projectiles but they’re still subject to melee attacks.

- Healing shouts and regen banners are good, but I’m surprised there’s no regen proc or something akin to thieves stealth regen when using stances.

Title says it all. There should really be more than a dolyak and stag helmet for Norns. Granted both helms mentioned look incredibly kitten, but for a race of hunters you’d think there’d be more options / types of horned helmets.

I love the idea of the war dogs. If i’m not mistaken are warriors the only class that doesn’t have some sort of summon? Eles have elementals, mesmers have clones, necros have their undead thingies, engineers have turrets, thieves have thieves’ guild, rangers can summon those spirits, guardians have spirit weapons.

Yeah we need some sort of summon. We can summon flags, but they don’t do anything. I mean, the buffs are nice but ranger summons can buff and heal too and move around (if traited for it) and do stuff. I really want the dogs now. They could even make it a trait, when we summon our banners we also summon a dog that will carry the banners for us. No more people walking off with our banners. the dogs stay near us and follow us around and will use the banners skills even stabbing enemies with it.

Just thought of something else. I would hate to rely on stupid AI as to when the dogs would use the skills. So an additional command bar would pop up next to our adrenaline meter that would have all the commands that the banners had. That way we wouldn’t have to pick up our banners if we wanted to use them and give up the skills of our weapons for it. the dogs will loyally follow by our side at all times and we can just click on the skill bar that pops up and still be effective in combat because we still have our weapons in our hands and not a banner.

I doubt they’ll put something like that in, but since we’re throwing ideas around….why not a squire that carries the banner? He could activate the skills on it and attack with it (much like the squire in the Ascalon fractal), but if he dies then the banner sits on the ground for a reduced time before despawning.

Help me fight mesmer in 1v1

Too bad that most of suggestions works good on DPS shatter mesmers, but against a tanky condition one is almost impossible to win, as simple as that.

I found myself winning some 1v1s against Necro and Mesmer (my worst nightmares) with rifle/hammer, too bad that i MUST use my burst while the elite is active, or i’m gonna fail if that move doesnt crit…

I use mace/shield + greatsword, runes of the soldier, and healing shout build taking FGJ, SIO, and OOM with 0/10/30/30/0 and there hasn’t been a build for any class yet that can overpower the build. I’ve had a handful of stalemates though, mostly from super bunker eles with heavy condition duration decreases.

Edit: here’s my build. It’s got high enough armor to withstand power builds, and enough hp to survive condition builds all while maintaining a high enough dps output (Fury up time is very high so crit chance is ~40%, plus unsuspecting foe bumps it up to ~90%.)

How do I counter a P/D thief?

as a P/D player i have to say the worst thing to deal with is blinds…..blinds and aegis/blocks. these are incredibly tough to get around as p/d isnt a high init gaining build. if u can make a p/d miss 2 CNDs you just took the lead in the duel. he now has to use his utilities for stealth and play perfect there after or he will be in huge trouble and a sitting duck. see if u can dodge or block/blind those CNDs…… you have to TIME it though bc if u do it too early he will use auto attack to drop blind. hope this helps.

Blocks, and for sure reflects will trip up a p/d build’s combo flow any day of the week. Also having on-deman condition removal, or having a crazy high condition duration reduction will reduce the overall dps of the build as well.

Couple questions about Sigils

Yes they work. The sigil on the warhorn will still give its intended effect, even if it doesn’t “attack” per se. So you could have a sigil of bloodlust on there for example and you’ll rack up stacks from it just fine so long as you have it equipped.

As for your other question, iirc your next attack in general will use the crit bonus of sigil of intelligence. So wreckless dodging or damaging utilities should proc it.

Whats with warriors being obsessed with Burst damage? Thats why there are so many bad ones in pvp/wvw. Thief s/d doesnt have anywhere near the burst damage d/d has but s/d owns people. Ive played along side some good hammer/mace and hammer/? warriors before and became a believer. I usually play Thief Mes or Ranger and ill say that Warriors these days are a lot more trouble than they used to be. I actually used to run past them and not bother, but I dunno they def arent bad at all. Not too long ago Rangers were considered the worst class and everyone laughed at them…

Just a lot of bads on the warrior forums these days.

Thank you! I want to put up more videos of various songs I’ve figured out or having been figuring out at work, but alas I’m working six 12-hour shifts back to back so playtime is pretty much non-existant until next Thursday. I will be putting up more videos soon though!

Sadly, those NPC’s talking are VERY distracting. I can’t really listen to your flute-playing like that.

I know, initially their banter didn’t sound so loud when I first made the video, but yeah their chit-chat is very much in the way. I mostly picked that spot cause it looks like my character is playing for a small crowd of ladies lol. I’ll be sure to find a better spot for the next videos though! =)

Guardians are crazy strong in any pvp format, be it spvp or wvw. small group, large group, gvg, or zerg v zerg Guardians have a roll for each type of engagement. My personal playstyle preference is running meditations and being in the middle of the enemy pinning them in place with ring of warding + the immobilizes on hammer and scepter. Hell, you can even solo roam pretty easily as well. Just keep a staff in your backpack (if you don’t use it as your secondary weapon) and you can cross the maps easily. So yes, Guardians can wvw kitten well.

Spvp players sucks hard if they said Spirit Ranger need a nerf…..spirits have a nice effect but they are too weak.

That’s because Spvp is all about sitting on a fixed location. That’s all it ever is; cap a point and sit on it, which is people were complaining about bunker BM builds, and now spirit builds. Both builds work so well in Spvp because you’re just guarding one specific location. Granted WvW has its zergs and all that, but there’s way more types of situations (havoc squad, roaming, zerg interference, etc) and a ton more strategy involved in WvW that will never happen in Spvp.

I prefer seeing more weapon sets / utilities apply weakness. Weakness (25% chance on any attack to make it do 50% less damage) would definitely give warriors higher staying power for all build types / playstyles.

I often wonder if the fault is with the player and not the class, from what I’ve seen from good warriors they’ve walked around the god almighty path of sustain and managed to be quite successful with out it.

I just don’t get how so many can turn what we have into something productive whilst a bunch of us sit down and scream one word at the computer screen hoping it will fix it. “SUSSSSSSSTAAAAAAAINNNNNNNNN” They weep as they get pounded on and killed knowing little that if they had that god almighty sustain they’d just die 10 seconds later.

This. There are builds that have crazy good sustain / condition removal, but people don’t want to trade off lol-tastic dps for it. They just want it given to them for free. Most classes have to spec just as heavily as warriors for their ability to survive (as someone mentioned thieves, and iirc mesmers as well. Hell, even Guardians don’t get heal dodges until 15 pts into honor.) While I will say getting protection isn’t a boon I see warrior acquiring anytime soon, what I would like to see is more weapon sets have is access to weakness. Weakness is a condition that granted can be cured, but with several weapon sets that can regularly apply it already, having weakness being a warrior condition staple would be the best way to deal with everyone’s ‘sustain’ cries mainly due to the fact that it outright cripples an opponents dps by 50% when it procs (which it does more often than not). I would take having the ability of putting 4-10 seconds of weakness on someone regularly as opposed to having 4 seconds of protection on a 30-40 second cooldown any day of the week. Weakness application + healing shouts / regen banners = me telling any enemy “lol do you even lift?”

Finally got around to posting updated screens of my ‘vanguard’ warrior Setun! Armor is a mix of T1 cultural gloves, shoulders, and boots, T3 leggings, and Vigil helm and breastplate. Dyes are Blood, Earthen, Chalkboard (closest dye I’ve found to Braham’s Shield), and White Gold.

Why Necro's are the New Tanks

The reason Necro’s became mass Tanks is because Warriors continued to run away from fights (and stand in back of groups/zergs) in PVP situations so Anet decided the Tanking should go to the Necro’s profession instead.

Not sure how your build / playstyle is, but my warrior has no problem getting into the middle of a group / zerg and being able to cause serious disruption while being able to sustain myself (via healing shouts / shield stance) and being able to fall back to a safe point using gs #3 / #5. The only real kitten block in large engagements like that is being focused with lots of fears (which cut me out of shield stance), but that doesn’t happen often, and even if it does, with so many people focusing 1 person in a large team fight everyone else on my server / group is focusing them in turn. I’m making a video showing all that off, and will post it on the forums as soon as it’s done.

I recently made a necro just for funsies and it’s amazing how people don’t do anything when I place marks on the floor with the staff….they just run right through it. Honestly necros aren’t op in the slightest; the only thing that kitten blocks me a little with necros are fears, but even then those are mostly minor inconveniences at best lol.

it annihilates other rangers and grenade engis. Not to mention staff guardian, and GS mesmer.

if you use axes with high crit build, you will pretty much destroy anything that comes unprepared. As in, anything that relies on ranged DPS/ranged condition spam alone.

It always makes me tear up a little when I WD ontop of a downed enemy and kill all his friends trying to Rez him and the stupid grenade throwing engi trying to get me off….. It’s just so beautiful….

New weapons for soldier classes

I would like to see new weapons for the soldier classes such as a halberd or Battleaxe (2 handed axe).

Iirc there’s actually code in the game for halberds. I too would kill for 2 handed axes as well!

They got enough weapons, compared to us thieves, which has least amount of versitality, engineer got kits eles got attunements, if they give thief offhand sword that would be more important than a kitten battleaxe

Actually thieves are extremely versitile with their weapon sets. Also you’re the only class that gets a unique skill depending on your weapon combo. Not saying you shouldn’t get an additional weapon or two, just saying thieves are completely helpless with what they currently have, which is what your statement sounded like.

Same here. Spvp is too clinical. The maps are so straightforward it’s boring. At least in wvw you can split and run some havoc to force your enemy out of keeps / towers. In Spvp if your team holds 2/3 points you’re good to go.

It will most likely get more expensive after the story is over. And the resource node in your home instance is a complete joke. Assuming you get 5 quartz/day, you would need 5 days to make 1 charged crystal. 5 of those are needed to make 1 part of armor.

So after all it takes 5*5*6 = 150 days or about 5 full months(!) to make yourself 1 set of celestial armor.

I don’t agree with Daecello most of the time but this is just stupid.

Don’t know the rate, but apparently you can get charged quartz as a rare mining from the personal node.

Perhaps I’ve been insanely lucky but I’ve received 1 charged crystal every time I harvested from the home instance one. Either way the heavy loot bags / most loot bags in general all have a chance of dropping quartz crystals.

Twitch gamers in general seems to be favored with this one, as two thirds of the achievements demand manual dexterity and quick reflexes.

agreed, though I’m not a twitch gamer, I do agree with what you said, bit more skill and awareness involved in some of the achievements.

I can see why some people find these achievements too grindy, that’s probably because you’re trying to cram it all in, in a single session – spread your activities out over the week and just enjoy it a bit more, look at the art and environment that artists spent so long to develop.

The Sprint is without a doubt one of the best mini games I’ve played in this game.

The only thing I do disagree with is the way point cost as through trial and error you end up falling a lot getting to those crystals….

Agreed that sanctum sprint is the best minigame thus far. Belcher’s Bluff is likewise a fun addition, especially since you can pop a table anywhere and challenge people to the game.

Well, to OP’s credit it is a fun idea on paper, but as mentioned by GuardianOMS people are going to find a million ways to abuse the kitten out of that system. This idea however, could work in wvw. For example, if player A on server A is an active member in large scale fights (in otherwords he’s getting tons of kills/bags), and doesn’t get downed or spiked during any of those fights, players on servers B and C could see a new event pop up if player A is nearby telling them to get that player as he’s become infamous. So basically the more kills a player makes without dying themself would attract attention to themselves as they become notorious.

I agree that stealth has to be revised. Its simply annoying, not challenging.

Stealth needs to have a counter (e.g. break on damage as suggested) or to be limited as an opener (which still is a big advantage, as you can choose your fights). Most of the times i meet thiefs in wvw i simply cant kill them, even if i outplay them – its simply frustrating not being able to kill an enemy you have beaten.

I would love if anet would redo thiefs in a fasion similiar to gw1 assasins, imho the best thief class design i found in any mmo so far. Give thiefs some form of defence (critical defences, evasion or something) or sustain (lifesteal) to compensate, i would love that for my little asuran stabber.

At the moment the skill/risk/reward gap for stealth is just too huge when compared to other classes.

Where would stealth drop on damage leave S/D and P/D? Remember that there are non-burst stealth builds, and stealth is critical to thier sustainability and control/conditions.
As for Assassin, in gw1 Assassin had a clear aim and goal, which was teleporting past the tanks to burst down the squishy supports, living off a lot of passive dodges. The battles were slower so it was easy to pick out the monk and shadowstep to him. GW2 is a whole other beast, battles are faster, no dodge is passive and everyone can be tanky or squishy, so it’s impossible to approach battles in the same methodical fashion. They gave thieves stealth as a positional tool because it’s much more adaptable then shadowsteps.

If certain utility skills on classes could just add a revealed debuff timer to them (of varying degrees of time depending on the skill and class) it give certain builds / playstyles a decent counter to stealth-reliant builds. Basically make it so that stealth-heavy builds have to actually think if engaging x, y, and/or z players is worth getting potentially screwed out of being able to stealth for 3+ seconds.

Account bound endless harvesting tools

Yes, I agree that if you want to use a harvesting too on multiple characters, you should buy multiple tools.
But the soulbound state of the harvesting tools creates other issues.

However, there is a chance that new harvesting tools with new animations are released. Now let’s say (hypothetically) that they release a “chainsaw” unlimited logging axe that I would like for my engi (main), it would mean that I will lose the lightning logging axe that I’ve already purchased and used on my main. In that case, I would be happiest if a new tool came with a single, one-time “unbind” ticket for harvesting tools, so I would be able to move my former harvesting tool down to one of my alts instead of overwriting and deleting it. i.e.: if I pay for two harvesting tools, let me use two harvesting tools.

This would possibly be beneficial to ANet as well as some players would invest in the new animation harvesting tool that otherwise would simply keep their old one.

I would be in favor of this as a means of getting my endless harvesting tools moved around to a character I’m using more often for a week, month, etc if they’re not made just regular account bound.

Agreed. If anything the other 3 bland borderlands should be revamped so that the green, blue, and red ‘home’ borderland areas are different from one another. I’d actually care then if my home borderland was in trouble lol.
