Grundlebad [KT]
Bannok [DC]

These guys have been around forever, know the importance of different roles and different needs at any given time, and have been with the community for a long time and thus are well-integrated and well-known and well-respected. In my opinion, they’re the best on SBI, though certainly there are others that I think are great in their own right (Cicc [LX], for instance, and I also love Rice Republic [Kiwi] and Ms Frozen [Kiwi]).

I would add Anaro Malcom (RvL) to that list as well because she makes an active effort to teach new wvw’ers as well as being able to keep a positive attitude as well as keeps momentum going when she leads a zerg.

any chance that guardian can beat mesmer ?

Hi Guardians.

My name is in game and forums is Osicat, I manage the popular mesmer video and text guide who is sticky on mesmer forums. I could be useful in this thread.

First, exclude al discussions regarding who beat who in a 1 vs 1 situation and you find that the classes fill totally different roles in wvwvw. Some classes have builds who let em in pairs or solo roam around the world and harass/cap. Others like Guardians have extremely strong group combat ability’s. The rate you can ress friendly downed is a gamebraker in group fights, the frontline value you deliver is inreplacebal.

For the 1 vs 1 combat its important to undeerstand the Messmer class. What mesmer have that often name us OP is not that we are better than al other classes in a specific role, its the fact we can fulfill nearly al roles (exept pve condition dps) if we specc for it.

This mean there are builds who will focus mainly on support or big group fighting, example glamour mesmers. This builds give up their 1 vs 1 or smal combat capabilitys in favour for stroger and more valid group combat. If you as a guardian run and catch one of this players moving alone you have a extremly big advantage and the question “Can a guardian beat a Mesmer in 1 vs 1” is a singing YES!

Problem you often not know what specc/build the mesmer have untill you encounter him/her. There are some tricks, if he carry 2 swords he most likley a direct dmg roamer. A scepter user will focus on conditions etc.

What happens from time to time thu when I roam on my mesmer is that I run into a guardian in open field, or some evenings in the Dueling events a guardian who by alot classes sees as unbeateal challange me. Now the situation is different. I play a shatter roaming mobility build (so do most roaming mesmers) and play it well.

For this setup there is no real counter as a guardian. Some builds can create more preassure but die to bursts, some survive longer but go down aswell. The problem is that a shater mesmer have nearly unlimited stunbrakers and mobility moves. No matter what blinds, immobilices or jumps you use a shatter mesmer wont take dmg or get locked down.

If this is unfair? I would say no as guardians have roles and things you can do that a mesmer cant, no mesmer will be as strong as a guardian in ressing ppl in the frontline as a example. We cant reach your tank setup even if we do ok tanks etc.

I add 2 videos to take into consideration when judging guardians abilitys to lock down a mesmer.

First a burst build: First fight and 3:59 is vs guardians.

Second video is more interesting. It show a hammer gardian the class seen as a enemy to mesmers, he fairly tanky aswell. Notice mobility: Fight start at 2:56

Ty for listening

/Osicat

Actually shatter Mesmers are super easy to counter once you see a ton of clones gunning for you with no real Mesmer in sight. Granted a tanky Mesmer who runs shatter is a VERY annoying combo, but still, the biggest giveaway are the clones doing the suicide bomb. Still, very informative post regarding weapon wield styles with Mesmers.

Well…Jormag is pretty active as well as Primordus, but here’s the thing I’m wondering: The title of this whole bit is Flame and Frost….we have The Flame Legion working with the Dredge, but where’s the Frost part? Maybe in all the shenanigans the Molten Alliance has stirred up Jormag capitalizes on the Alliance and converts them all to his will? That would be pretty crazy.

I consider things like “hundred nades bug” to be OP, where a single attack dos 26k damage in an AOE.

/sigh that photoshopped picture keeps on making the rounds doesn’t it?

There was actually a super awesome video of it in WvW, where I watched a single engi take out a group of guardians and warriors by jumping into the middle of them, lol. I looked for the video, but this is all I could find. I feel it’s good enough to represent it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gXAliTpRwk

So why is this not ok but thief burst is?

Full disclosure: imo anything that can down someone in less than 3 seconds alone is bad regardless of which class does it except for pure glass vs pure glass. I’m not defending 100nades.

If a thief (or any class for that matter) builds so that they use CC in conjunction with their high dps build, it’s perfectly fine imo….I’ve seen tons of thieves try to use basilisk venom on me (I dual main a Guardian and Warrior) then try to burn me down, but using a quick condition removal trumps their otherwise insane burst since you can then turn around and blow them right back up.

any chance that guardian can beat mesmer ?

Setun.4368

Guardians are probably one of the worst classes for fighting a mesmer.

Bad mobility, almost forced into melee due to bad ranged options, and lack of conditions, which is the mesmer’s biggest weakness in most cases.

You could say mesmers almost counter us. That having been said, I have won a handful of 1v1’s against mesmers. A good number of these were against uplevels so it doesn’t indicate much but dodging their shatters goes a long way (if they are shatter). Glamour mesmers usually don’t do 1v1’s because they aren’t specced for it.

But guardian just don’t have any effective DPS weapon against mesmer.
1-h sword is OK for DPS, but the damage spike can never fully land on mesmer. Hammer is a joke, only MB can do some damage, hammer 1 will never land a single strike. GS = suicide VS mesmer. Only viable weapon is staff, but the dps is far from enough.
My mesmer in WvW simply never lose a single 1v1 VS other classes once I get lv80, I won 99% 1v2 and at least 80% 1v3, only trouble maker I feel as mesmer is a good trap ranger or engi. Guardian is simply the easiest free badge. Everytime I meet a guardian, I know this is a easy one, he can never win, he can never run away.

OK there, shower us with your amazing pvp skills oh godly mesmer.

It all depends on your build and playstyle. If you’re supporty without much condition removals or cures, then yeah you’re boned. Mediation builds are strong as kitten against Mesmers since the burst heal when you use them will keep you going strong in a fight against one. Also 2 meditation skills are condition cures (smite condition and contemplations of purity) and on a fairly short (or super short for smite condition) cooldown. As for mobility Judge’s Intervention (another meditation skill) tends to make mesmer’s panic and pop their own blinks or dodge rolls prematurely, which makes them easy targets. I use hammer and scepter / torch and for the most part I don’t have a problem holding down mesmers to a distance I can work with. Only thing that does throw me off though is that line of warding style move that pulls you to it if you cross it, which JI counters just fine.

I’m interested in seeing what you hit for

On average non-crits are 850-1k a swing, with crits being anywhere between 2k (against bunker enemies) to 9k (glass cannons and/or decent stacks of vulnerability.) Might blow tends to crit consistently for 4-5k across all build types, which isn’t too shabby since it’s on a 4 sec cooldown. I don’t rely too heavily on having a super high crit chance just because this weapon combo / build has multiple sources of attacks coming in at once (#1 chain symbol, smite, purging flames) in addition to use of binding jeopardy, which adds free stacks on vulnerability on enemies when immobilized, and fiery wrath which adds 10% damage when enemies are on fire (something that is easily kept up).

Longbow, an idea

in Guardian

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

NO to longbow!

Heavy armor = front line

Warrior has longbow and rifle.

Heavy armor – front line? Please. What about ranger with greatsword? What about mesmer with swords, what about thief with pistols or short bow? What about elementalist or necromanser with daggers? This is GW2. So heavy armor = front line is not an argument.

For example, Elementalist can be front line, but he is wearing light armor. It’s not some Perfect World or other classic mmorpg, it’s GW2.

Without decent long ranged aoe weapon and with unfixed scepter, Guardian is like cripple. Because other classes have options and for melee and for long ranged combats.

Scepter / torch is a kitten good ranged combo. Albeit the #1 on scepter can be a bit whacky, but with the access to both smite and purging flames there’s a ton of aoe damage to be had. Try rooting someone with scepter #3, followed by smite, then purging flames on top of that. Damage counters EVERYWHERE. Just gotta know how to work with what you’ve got.

Completely agree with OP, GW2 is imo hands down the best MMO and arguably the best game ever made. You can’t go back to old MMO’s after this.

Agreed because both games focus on your skill with your class/champion, the synergy with teammates, and how skillful your enemy is. From a pvp standpoint exotic gear in GW2 is meant to be easy to acquire so that you get the look you want, while getting the stat combos you’re buidling around so you can get right into doing what you want to do: pvp. So a game that rewards people who spend time mastering their class mechanics as opposed to rewarding someone who wins because the numbers on his gear is better than someone elses because he spent 5 weeks grinding out gear will always have my vote.

I liked the model they had in GW1 – basically a single player RPG structure, that you can play multiplayer. (and then esport PvP.)

I dont want “quests.” I want a linear(ish) story, with subquests being optional activities for completionists. (like a JRPG.) And then repeatable skill based content like ranking mode for individual missions, an infinite dungeon of increasing difficulty, etc. And esport PvP.

If GW2 followed that structure, but added the dodging and action based combat (actually GW2 is not actiony enough for me – I want something like Dark Souls, God of War / Devil May Cry, or Dragons Nest), then that would be my ideal game.

(While we’re at it, make the item and loot system singleplayer. You can’t trade or give items or currency in game. Everyone has their own personal economy, and the rarity/prices are scaled to a singleplayer game.
No more bots, no more greed/envy, no more gold sellers.)

Anyways, here’s to hoping someone out there gets it one day.

Sounds like you want Monster Hunter then.

Guardian v. Thief

in Guardian

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

Take into account that the only thief you will ever be able to kill in WvW is a bad thief or a thief that goes 100% all-in. We are one of the least mobile classes, while they are almost always very mobile. As soon as the thief realizes he can’t kill you, he’ll make a run for it and there’s no way we can catch up with them between Shadow Refugee, Heartseeker spam, Infiltrator Arrow, Signet of Shadow and Shadowstep ( abilities very common in WvW ). If you see the thief coming you may switch one of your utilities to Signet of Wrath/Bane Signet and/or Judge’s Intervention to quickly catch up to them when they start running ( I say switch to because both signets are weak and I wouldn’t reccomend anyone to slot them regularly ).

That being said, unless the thief makes heavy use of kiting/stealth, the actual fight shouldn’t be too hard, especially if you are using a greatsword. Always try to land a Binding Blade as soon as their health drops below half so you can try and interrupt their heal or pull them out of Shadow Refugee (automatically unstealths them).

That all depends on your build / weapon choices. Under the assumption that I have nothing on cooldown, only super tanky thieves can escape my hammer / scepter & torch combo. Two 2+ sec immobilizes, a knockback on hammer which can lead to a free windup to immobilize, and a warding ring that interrupts kitten near everything will keep them all in place, especially if using Judge’s Intervention with all that to keep the distance close.

New WvW maps, a possibility?

in WvW

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

This stupid forum logged me out while posting and ate my post.

1. Each server gets their own borderland that reflects that server’s name. Dragonbrand actually is in the Dragonbrand, Maguuma actually is in the Maguuma jungle. These are released over a period of eight months to cover the eight tiers.

2. Three new “neutral” borderlands are added (for a total of four) in the same time-frame. These maps are different from other maps in that they clearly favour the owners.

4. A new EB is added every four months and changes weekly.

5. Once 2/3 of the new maps are in place, map rotation begins with the team that comes in third each week being placed one of the four “neutral” maps. In this way, even if the same three servers are fighting each other week after week there is still variety.

Yes, I am well aware of the massive amount of work involved, but this game is meant to last for years, is it not? People are already bored of the borderlands. We need variety and the more variety the better.

I love option #1 the most. It would definitely give players a reason to stay loyal to certain servers as they could really learn the ins-and-outs of their home borderlands.

I use them all the time so I can port around the map using Judge’s Intervention and Flashing Blade on my Guardian. Like most others have said they’re there to present opportunities to either fake out, capitalize on, or disrupt your enemies. If anything I wish NPCs would harass camps more often. Skritt and Centaur camps could raid supply camps for example and steal some supply from the depot. Could make it an event for the defenders, and for anyone attacking it’d be a good opportunity to strike while the guards are fighting the other NPCs.

If you stop relying on Altruistic Healing, a slew of new builds will open for you =].

A slew of new less effective builds you mean.

An AH build is the best hybrid build for a guardian because it has strong defense, decent support, and average damage. There are a lot of builds that are pure builds that out perform AH in either support or damage.

This

with some more chars.

AH builds are nice for support, but try running a mediation build. I go 20/0/30/20/0, with the faster meditation recharge / meditation skills heal perks and using JI, Smite Condition, and Contemplations of Purity not only do conditions just fall off my like water on hydrophobic sand, each meditation heals me for 2k. Then there’s the ability to convert all conditions to boons, and on top of all that 2 out of 3 of those meditations are AoE attacks. I can see the appeal for AH builds, but a good meditation build is way scarier and far less boon reliant for damage / sustain.

It should be mentioned also that the meditation build I have is a mostly offensive / personal survival build, and doesn’t give much in the ways of boons to allies (I do use Empowering Might since it gives me a stack of might when I crit as well, but you can change that out if your crit chance isn’t very high.) Also I use Maintenance Oils and Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Steak Stew for might on dodge and increased endurance regen. Here’s a quick make up of what my build entails…granted it has the spvp stats, but it’s not too far off the mark as to what my stats are.

I also agree with everything here, especially the 1hr timer change (makes wanting to upgrade your locations on the map much more appealing than it already is,) but with a minor change to #1. Servers should be given points for player kills, but it should be within the ‘attack / defend _’ event confines for it to count, and 1 point should be awarded per 5-10 kills.

All in all I like the ideas presented here!

thinking of switching from g.sword to hammer

in Warrior

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

I personally prefer hammer over greatsword mostly because the hammer trait increases your damage by 25% when someone is disabled (stun, knockdown, daze). 2 of those disables you have ready access to between 3 moves, the F1 stun is not only a giant AoE stun, but it hits like a freaking truck and has a good range on it (600m), and backbreaker (hammer #5) is a 2 second knockdown. Hammer #4 is an aoe knocback which is handy when being swarmed in pve and pvp alike, but its only drawback is that you’re rooted while channeling it. In addition the hammer #1 chain is essentially the same speed as your 1h sword attack chain, which is pretty fast given that it’s a hammer you’re flinging around. Lastly not only does the hammer have all those CC options, but you can keep mobs / people perma-weakened with hammer #2 which cuts their DPS in half (unless they crit), which puts you in an overall much more tanky disposition as any damage you suffer is cut in half for the duration of the debuff.

thinking of switching from mace to sword

in Guardian

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

Sword is definitely a faster weapon than the mace, and the #1 chain finished can hit at least 1 enemy 3 times (each hit having its own chance to crit, so you can crit up to 3 times in 1 hit.) Flashing blade (sword #2) is good for both popping in and getting a few quick hits in before the mobs turn to fight back, and it blinds on hit, and is on a 10 second cooldown or so so it’s good for negating a charged up attack that you would normally have to dodge out of. Lastly sword #3 is good for straight up damage as mobs tend to not run around too much, and against ranged enemies the ranged attack absorb can be pretty awesome at negating some otherwise nasty ranged attacks / combos. Overall I’d say it’s a matter of playstyle choice between the two. Sword is much more reliant on its autoattack for damage, but it does proc VoJ every chain finisher due to the x3 chain finisher. If anything just give it a whirl and see how you like the feel of it compared to mace! =)

Opinions wanted: Power vs Prec

in Guardian

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

if you have 2k power you need 100 more to increase dps with 5%

If you have 55% crit damage you need 99 precision to increase damage with 5%

If you have 80% crit damage you need 80 precision to increase damage with 5%

So precision can be better when:
1. You have high crit damage.
2. You have lots of power.
3. When you combine high power and crit damage.

Or have i missed out on something?

Not a bad train of thought to be honest. Having a good / high power base is important just so that your base damage when you crit will already be pretty high considering that a crit with no damage bonus is 150% of your base attack. I personally have 3.3k total attack (I forget the power amount exactly atm), 55% crit damage bonus, and using maintenance oils run nearly 30% crit chance. So my crits (depending on who I’m fightinging) are anywhere between a consistant low of 2k to my highest being 9k. I am planning on getting the berserker/valkyrie ascended accessory to complete my ascended jewelery acquisition on my Guardian, so these figures will change quite a bit once I get it.

Hammers are typically good a taking out camps quickly in my experience because of the hammer #3 symbol finisher. Even if blinded by the scouts, the intial move might miss, but it’ll still drop a symbol which does damage and will help with blinds the scouts throw at you. Also being able to have retaliation up using hammer #2 in ring of warding or the symbol for the chain finisher gives steady damage to the npcs as well.

1. Judge’s Intervention
2. Zealot’s Embrace (combined with the Binding Jeopardy trait it gives a few free stacks of vulnerability)
3. Tie between Ring of Warding and Purging Flames

1 – As mentioned above, the insta stun break, teleport, and burning is awesome. Also I run a meditation build so having a free 2k heal on top of all that is stupendous.
2 – I love this move for several reasons. It has great synergy with JI (winding up the move then porting on top of a small group of enemies so they can’t roll away from it), with the binding jeopardy trait it makes your targets that much weaker, plus it allows a guarenteed landing of the hammer #2 leap, placing a ring of warding while they’re snared so they can’t go anywhere while it’s casting, and/or banish some poor fool off a ledge (VERY satisfying btw).
3. Ring of Warding is just a wonderful skill. Makes for a wonderful barrier in terms of preventing escape / advances of a zerg (pop it by a gate entrance if the gate breaks and giggle as people bump into it constantly), and with a blast finisher having area retaliation helps with burning down bursty classes as they’ll be hurting themselves. However, Purging Flames is quite possibly the funnest way of making people panic and burn dodge rolls / escapes prematurely as it not only looks kitten, but with the right spec build it does crazy damage by the time it’s done channeling. Also I placed a sigil on my torch that gives a chance of removing boons on my targets so it not only clears conditions on allies in the flames, but gives a good chance to strip boons from my enemies.

I typically find it amusing how in small skirmishes people try to focus me down first, even when I’m in a party with a thief, ranger and/or guardian. I usually just sword leap / warhorn kite them around to spread out the attackers while my party just lays waste to stragglers trying to keep up with me or just not paying attention to them.

I 1v2’d 2 glass cannon thieves at the same time once using the offhand mace #5 knockdown followed by axe mainhand #1 and #2 skills (also have FGJ, OMM, and SoF up, so I had tons of might stacks / vulnerability up)

Other greatest moment as a warrior was I once hammer F1’d into a group of players that were holded up in a corner on top of Stonemist Castle and immediately stomped the area and sent them all flying off the edge to their horrible demise. To this day I haven’t had quite as satisfying an experience as that lol.

For keeping up with the zerg while running around you can use ‘Retreat’ and not have any problems at all. I personally use hammer or sword/shield and scepter/torch and I have 0 problems with ranged or melee dps, nor with mobility (Judge’s Intervention utility and Flashing Blade sword #2 are great gap closers / openers if you can target something. Greatsword #3 likewise is a good distance closer/opener and doesn’t require a target.) Another idea you can do too is just have a staff in your backpack on you when running around with a zerg you can equip real quick to pop the swiftness symbol then switch back to your primary weapon set.

Let's get it together

1) I am calm. And no, thank you, I’m not interested in PvE.

2) Again, I couldn’t care less about WvW. Zerg vs Gate game mode is incredibly boring in my opinion. I’m also perfectly capable of observing changes to overall meta. Quickness nerf is an indirect buff to all bunkers. PvP is about to get a whole lot more boring, as meta will move into heavy bunkering. Also, Warrior was hurt more than anyone else with those nerfs. We’ll be doing half the damage we used to during the Frenzy, while taking double damage for extra second (or 2.25 with trait).

3) Another playstyle, you say? I can say you never did any PvP. There is no ‘another playstyle’ for Warrior, sadly. Even if there was, I’m a sucker for giant swords, can’t imagine playing anything else.

4) With 1000 hours on Warrior, I don’t need a few days to say that today’s changes have completely killed class in PvP. Up till today there were about 5-10 people who refused to give up and still played Warriors in high level PvP. After the patch? There’s a good chance you won’t see a single Warrior in tPvP for the next month.

Please OP, refrain from posting on matters you clearly have no idea about.

@Detcelfer Hey, you can use Reverse Bladetrail with Leg Specialist to immobilize people and give yourself a chance at escaping. Oh wait, they destroyed that too. I guess we’re ****ed.

Sounds like you got a case of the mads and stubborns. Zerker builds are still just as viable, you just have to have better timing / map awareness to avoid getting popped during the few extra seconds or so. I agree with the OP, you just need to chill the hell out. If frenzy was the only reason why you were good in pvp or you believe that it was the only saving grace that made warriors viable at all then you need to L2P and learn to do something other than press 2 all day.

I stopped reading right here. P/V/T gear is tank gear, you’re building your Guardian as a tank and you don’t realize it. Power/Precision/Crit damage is the damage dealing gear.

Actually if he gets full p/v/t gear, and gets more standard ’dps’y accessories (personal preference is valks / knights) he’ll be fairly tanky while dishing out crazy damage. Another thing to think about is the 5% of toughness to precision trait under the toughness tree which is super handy (also master maintenance oils that give 4% vit —> precision and 6% toughness —> precision bonuses as well)

The damage increase isn’t going to be astronomical for boon hate…I’m not entirely sure what people are expecting but even if the damage increase was 1% per unique boon type on a player (which isn’t completely unreasonable), a boon hate build isn’t going to break Guardians or Elementalists….it’ll keep heavy boon reliant builds on their toes a little more as they run the risk of taking some extra damage.

Also for some food for thought:
Say my 1% damage per unique boon idea is right, and you have 5 boons up during an engagement. That’s 5% extra damage that’s coming to you. If one of those boons up is protection, which gives 33% damage reduction, you’re still reducing 28% incoming damage even with someone who has boon hate hitting you.

You could trade out one or 2 of the armor pieces for say Valks or p/v/t gear. I suggest this only because your HP pool is super low at 15k….any crit chance above 40% just seems like overkill to me. My Guardian runs at 3k attack and armor, 18-19k health, and about 25% crit chance and he still crits almost every time (I used sword/shield or hammer as my primary, and scepter/torch as secondary, so lots of consistent hits.) Overall it looks like a pretty good supporty-dpsy build!

Thief vs. Warrior

I have a friend who has an Asura in full T3 cultural armor, which looks like power armor so it’s entirely possible lore-wise for an Asura to be a warrior utilizing magical technology to augment their weapons and armor. Asuran thieves I can believe lore-wise with their blinding powder / access to tech that turns them invis.

@Sahfur
Sure. Thief/Mesmer/DD Ele are treated “special.” And that’s why: Ele healing ate a PvP nerf, Stealth is eating a nerf soon, and Mesmers have the crappiest Out-of-Combat speed in game – next to Guardian.
There’s no reason to clutter up a “which class should I play?” thread with that kinda hate. Relax a bit.

He’s got a case of the mads, pay no attention to him.

Boon Hate

pretty sure boon hate will not be given to “theives” as a profession. but will be put in a trait line.. this means that to take a skill in boon hate you will need to spec out of something else. so instead of being a direct damage thief or condition thief you may be a boon hate thief. meaning that the same theif that will be better vs boons will be worse vs a normal player.

in the same way that a boon stacking guardian is worse at doing other things like damage/healing because they focus on boons.

Agreed.

I’m actually working on getting an exotic of every kind of my warrior now lol! I have every weapon my Guardian can use, and it is handy to have when you want to swap to a weapon set you haven’t used in awhile or feel like messing around with for funsies. I do however tend to stick to only specific weapon types though (hammer, axe/mace, rifle, sword/warhorn) lol

@Sahfur – You are right about certain builds that require almost no skill to beat someone on a different class who has alot more skill from the other. That’s kind of the whole reason why boon hate is coming to place in the first place. My guess is a 1% dps increase per unique boon type on a person at most. So for example if someone were to pop Save Yourselves (which gives 7 boons), that’s be a 7% damage increase. That’s equal to about 7 stacks of vulnerability on that person. If my guess is right then that doesn’t sound insanely op or game breaking to me because:
1. the protection boon will still negate a lot of damage even with boon hate.
2. the possibilities of baiting a boon hate player to try and burn all their moves on you while you have your boons up, leaving you in an superior position to blow them up after they’ve tried everything to spike you down are much higher. (i.e. pop save yourselves while channeling hammer #5 and watch them run into the barrier repeatedly while you take free swings)

All boon hate is doing is keeping boon-reliant builds on their toes more during engagements now.

Once again, quit being so mad bro. <3

I hate to be the one to mention this- but there are a group of CD who are using exploits, I just had a CD mesmer wave at me, jump THROUGH the gate at mendons, then proceed to portal his team inside.
I know CD are a good server, with good people, but stuff like this really reflects badly on a server.

wrong place to post this. ss and send it to support tyvm

I would say this is exactly the right place. You should call out the guild name too. Anet isn’t going to do anything. But respectable guilds and servers can. If the exploiters get gkicked and called out enough they will stop or leave the server.

I have glitched through a gate a couple of times by accident. I am not sure what I did to do it. But I jumped right back out.

NW tower gate is very easy to get through. More than once someone has gone through it, died, then partied and said they didn’t mean to.

^ exactly
Its not hacking or using exploits, I have gone through it several times myselff by acident just using phase retreat near the door. Its just a bug., and CD and much of a hacker server anyway.

I’d call it an exploit only when you actively use that bug to your advantage on a regular basis. Kinda like wave dashing in Smash Bros. Melee

Some really angry rant with ideas that are bad

Not quite sure what you were so angry at there, but AH isn’t the only build for Guardians….it’s a strong support build for sure, but have you tried Monk’s Focus for sustain? My Guardian has a tanky dps build (combo of valkyrie, and soldier gear, ascended berserker amulet, and mixed other accessories) with meditation utilities (JI, CoP, and Smite Condition) and with the exception of stand-offs from a really good bunker ele or mesmer I don’t lose fights in 1v1 unless my opponent gets 2+ people to back them up. I normally don’t say this, but quit being so mad and L2P dude.

Could the guardian forum please stop from turning into the thief section, where we QQ about every single nerf or counter we get?
Both bunker elementalists and bunker guardians rely heavily on boons and are almost invincible 1v1. Having characters that will be stronger against boons in a sense nerfs those cookie-cutter specs and opens up for new builds and ways of thinking.
Why do people actually WANT their class to be OP?
Is it that much fun winning a fight rather than actually having a good fight?

This wont render guardians useless and it if does, it will be balanced.
I can’t remember a time where i lost a 1v1 against a thief using the 0/0/30/20/20 build. That is not balanced guys. Of course the thief should stand a chance. But kitten me for wanting proper balance, right? I should enjoy being unstoppable against certain classes.
Mesmers are definitely the strongest counter to a guardian, and from the sound of it they wont fill this new boon-hate role, so everything is fine! (Mesmers are strong against everyone, but thats not a discussion for the guardian section ^^)

Agreed. People are just mad because now there’ll be a more reliable counter to bunker builds / boon reliance builds now. It’s going to just require a slight change in tactics; and as we all know, people don’t like change. I personally am excited for this change because now bunker ele’s will feel the pressure in a 1v1 much more now as opposed to the current state of things (also bunker Mesmers too….even more annoying than ele’s)

"Boon hate"

in Warrior

Posted by: Setun.4368

Setun.4368

so unless boon hate is 5% per boon or more, it’ll be useless.

That change would simply kill the guardian as a class. Without boons we are nothing but a less mobile, less tanky, less damaging warrior.

Not true. I very rarely have boons up on my Guardian, and he’s able to be extremely mobile in combat with flashing blade and judge’s intervention. The few boons if any that I have is either might from aegis blocks, vigor from crits, and/or any conditions I turn into boons for a brief period of time with CoP (which last like what, 3 seconds?). My warrior runs more boons than my Guardian 90% of the time in any given fight (might, vigor, fury, swiftness). Having boon hate will just make those who constantly spam ‘save yourselves’ have a harder time now.

We need this
