You already can lock a necromancer out of death shroud. Its called Moa.

Burns from condi Engi come in short bursts, are avoidable, and have long cooldowns. The largest burn bursts come from the rabid p/p Engi, which is a yolo all in build. You know when the burn burst is coming because it is most likely shortly after the Engi stealths, or if you can see him you’ll notice the IA icon on his status bar.

People don’t like giving themself disadvantages (just look at the whole necromancer corruption skill discussion).

Whoah there, go ahead and back that on up. The only reason that was ever an issue was due to how weak those corruption skills were, and the fact that they added even more punishment to the skills without adjusting the benefits of the skills.

I find the number saying Necro interesting. In game I find them to be pretty obnoxious. Any sort of condi build is basically useless vs a Cele Signet Necro. As soon as you lay on some conditions they get sent back if the Necro crits you. At the same time even boon focused builds just get destroyed by all the corruption.

It’s not OP per say. It’s just that no one likes being hard countered. Also I frequently hear complaints abut Death Shroud duration. I personally don’t have anything against the class but it’s a rising star and I think we’ll hear more complaints about it soon.

It’s not a hard counter though. I have beaten quite a few cele signet necros on my rabid engi. Normally just bait out some of the condi transfers and then condi bomb and and lock them in a cc chain. Also not really a rising star, just finally getting some balance.

Yeah, I’m all for dueling in HotM. Everything in there is set up to prepare you for a match, such as treb practice and beat and Lord targets. Makes sense to let people duel there as well to kill time in between queues and try out bills.

I’ll say this again, no reason at all for open world PvE dueling. PvE players don’t want it. Nobody is against HotM dueling except Anet. Dueling already exists in custom arenas, obsidium sanctum, and soon to be guild halls. Requesting to have dueling in open world PvE as well when that community has clearly stated they are against it is just being selfish.

I don’t love what most people consider “holy.” That aside, spam seems to be the way to get read in this forum. Spam the topic to the top of the forum often enough, it might even be heard. Keep spamming it and you may be lucky enough to have your idea thought about.

Still PVE dueling is just ripe for abuse. At the very least it would have to be restricted to level 20 + to keep the newbies from being farmed for laughs.

Only problem is spamming with different threads actually acheives much less that consoldiating both sides of an argument in a single thread. Also, a single thread is what Anet prefers to read and they have already posted their replies on previous dueling threads. All that is happening here is the illusion of being heard by posting multiple threads on a topic that has already received answers, just not the answers that the pro-dueling crowd wanted to hear.

I don’t get the issue here. Why even argue that Diamond Skin is ok. It’s obviously not. No one is asking for a nerf, just a rework on a poorly designed trait that gives condi builds a chance and allowss the trait to be more useful to Eles outside of a 1v1 duel against a condi build.

i wish it existed too. threads come up all the time aboot it, arguments fo both sides come up. no logical reasoning can convince the people against it that it won’t affect them. but there is still no dueling so, i guess they win and the rest of us can continue to click around hotm with our clicks in our hands, bored waiting on matches. or click around a pve zone waiting on events to start

PvE players don’t want PvP in their area. Simple. They have replied with logical reasons time and time again. Just stop trying to force it on them. Dueling in HotM, sure. Literally no one objects to that but anet. Not to mention dueling already exists in custom arenas, obsidium sanctum, and soon guild halls. Requesting to have it in open world PvE too when the PvE players are saying they don’t want it is just selfish.

Least Raged on Professions?

For myself I hate fighting PU Mesmers the most. As mentioned, it’s mainly because the stealth and mobility, denying me the satisfaction of killing them. Outside of that, the only other fights that bother me are Necromancers and Warriors that Lich/Rampage on me in a 1v1 or even worse, when they outnumber me and pop that elite. Especially if I’m doing pretty good in an outnumbered fight.

As for least raged on, the Necro of course. Every other class has a good cheese build they can run that induces rage, but Necros are pretty straight forward.

Heck, as a nade/bomb condi Engi I get raged on alot by thieves because apparently my build is total noob cheese, despite the fact they had every intention of hitting me for 10k from stealth and hiding and repeating the process till they win, and running away the second they feel they’re in danger.

I don’t really see how you getting 100-0’d by conditions over 5-10 seconds is any different than getting killed by straight burst? I mean… there are quite a few proactive and reactive skills in the game to help mitigate condition burst but very FEW reactive ways to not die to a huge burst spike.

You miss the main point. In a normal burst, people need to spec with zerker or marauder. That gives them minimal sustain. In condi, they can spec way more defensively and still do insane damage.

Implementation of burn stacking was the single worst decision that ANET has made. That and hiring a balance team that doesn’t balance.

This argument keeps popping it’s false there is ramp up time,cleansing,CC,blind and everything that GW2 combat has. Burn and sometimes confusion are the only good conditions. You didn’t build to counter to conditions did you?? You speced to play your way.

Please read again. You also missed the point. The point is getting spiked by direct damage vs condi damage. Your point is invalid because someone can also avoid direct damage by aegis or dodging. This is just a straight comparison of direct vs condi.

Trying to argue that it isn’t easier to spec defensively with a condi build is also just silly.

You do realize that Aegis and dodging also work on condi burst as well right? Most condi damage also has a ramp up time and can be completely negated through cleanses, so condi builds being a little tankier isn’t really an issue. Thieves and Guards do more damage with power builds btw, and have the same if not better survival.

Also, what is this about Necromancers? Does everyone not realize that Necromancers have some of the weakest condi application in the game right now? All that condi damage coming from a necro is either corrupted boons or transferred conditions.

An example, I can totally build my Engi for condi damage with defensive stats and do decent condi bursts. The bursts are useless though when fighting anyone that knows how to time cleanses. On the other side, I can spec for a soldier rifle build, have way more sustain, and still do great burst damage that can not be cleansed as well as decent sustained damage and more cc.

LoL at waiting turn while being condi to death by a necro. Engi is a fun class, however it is lacking in survivablity in the realm of healing. In other words all of the engi healing sucks at the moment.

My main is an Engineer. Condi weakness has always been an issue and is better now than it has been recently. Dev responses are concerning new specializations coming with the expansion, not with current issues that are already widely known.

Still that’s not the point. What i’d like to have is a chance to have meaningful discussion and provide positive feedback like Revenant subforum…Rev has bugs and in many places is undertuned too, but i do not see harsh talk there. Instead there good discussion that will make class great…all i want is the same chancefor our amazing class!

Necro here. Would just like to point out that Engineers are by far not the only profession with bugs. As mentioned, the professions getting the dev attention right now are the ones that have had their elite specializations revealed. This is due to Anet focusing on getting these specs polished up and finished with help from player feedback. And like most professIons, Engineers are in a good spot and not in need of emergency fixing. So, just be patient, wait your turn, and Webb the time comes try to provide legitimate and constructive feedback.

We all know what this is really about. OP Eles have been around for quite some time. Always in the Meta. But now that Necromancers are using the cele amulet and doing well with it, it has reached a new point of UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Cele amulet not the problem. It’s one of the least used amulet right now. Ele is the problem. Burn damage isn’t the problem, the amount of stacks some classes put out is the problem. Stop suggesting changes that will hardly touch the real problem that will further nerf the classes that are not a problem.

Well first we all have to understand that Anet gave up on balancing underwater combat a long time ago, and Plague Blast is OP as hell. If they did anything to Life Blast, I think reducing the cast time would be great, and as many people mentioned would make it work better with Dhuumfire and make it easier to land hits. However, I feel this would deal too much damage too fast, so a damage nerf may be warranted.

Too much damage too fast? points at the engi pressing 2 buttons and landing 8-10 burn stacks on you.

On a long cooldown that is easily cleansed. Seriously, don’t understand people complaining about Engineer burning. Anyways, just concerned about the damage potential considering power builds can build life force pretty quick and Life Blast already hits pretty hard.

Incendiary Ammo, Incendiary Powder and Blow Torch burst of burning if proc’ed right is just too much espcially with the tells

Engineer burning comes in bursts with lengthy cool downs. This is what condition cleanses are for. There is no reason to nerf Engineer burning.

Glad some people have sense. As Dhuumfire Reaper I was able to get about 3 stacks of burning on a player. Would suck to see that nerfed just because some other class is getting 15 stacks on a player.

I used to hate fighting D/D Eles, until I started playing Cele Signet Necro. And wow, so many crazy “balance” solutions. All this nerf burn damage, nerf celestial, instead of, you know, actually balancing the Ele without needlessly nerfing the other classes.

Is DS 1 really Viable in a Teamfight?

With DS 1 being so slow, and with all the CC, evades, invuls, blocks and reflects, I find I’m hardly ever able to get off some actual hits with the Death Shroud auto attack.

I have a choice between taking Curses and SR. Curses has so many “instant” effects, that I feel much more effective. Instant weakness application, instant condi transfers, instant bleeds etc. Whenever I theorycraft with soul reaping and think how much damage I can do with 50% critical chance in DS, I only have to play it for a match or two to see how little I actually get to use it.

Successfully getting off DS 4 in a team fight is a real miracle.

In this fast paced environment, everyone wants skills with low cast times, and evade frames. Does anyone else find DS 1 to be underwhelming?

DS 1 – can be paired with CC’s to ensure hit. Common use is DS 1 then DS 3 while “projectile” is en route. If they run out of dodges it does some decent damage.
DS 2 – useful for 3 situations: enemy using block/reflects, gap closing, Ele switched out of water attunement.
DS 4 – break line of sight or target the most likely CC’er and use DS 3 to buy a couple seconds, it goes through all objects.

50% crit rate also impacts Wells that were cast before entering Shroud.

They all have their uses, but really they are predictable.

In addition to that, casting DS 5 is great for landing Life Blast as well. Most players know when to dodge Tainted Shackles, so 1 of 2 things happen assuming you can keep them in range and los. Either they blow a dodge to avoid the immobilize, or they save the dodge and eat the immobolize. Either way, it’s a perfect chance to follow up with some Life Blast damage.

Dueling will exist in guild halls and already exists in 1v1 pvp servers. This topic is pointless. There is no need for duels elsewhere. Period.

If there would be no need, people would not be asking for this. Apparently, to them it makes a big difference whether one duels in pvp servers, in wvw or in guild halls on the one hand and in the open pve world on the other hand.

People ask for a lot of things that are not needed.

Granted. However, they feel there is a need. Other feel there isn’t. Who can objectively judge who is right? Especially in a game like GW2 which doesn’t include features for one specific group only but which tries to be pretty all-inclusive in what you can do in the game.

Thus the existence of dueling servers and now guild hall duels. Anet is trying to cater to both crowds, but the pro-dueling crowd is still demanding even more, infringing on the anti-dueling crowd.

Dueling will exist in guild halls and already exists in 1v1 pvp servers. This topic is pointless. There is no need for duels elsewhere. Period.

If there would be no need, people would not be asking for this. Apparently, to them it makes a big difference whether one duels in pvp servers, in wvw or in guild halls on the one hand and in the open pve world on the other hand.

People ask for a lot of things that are not needed.

On Guardian, Judge’s Intervention and Virtue of Justice are the only burns with a telegraph.

Err.. I was actually being sarcastic, they dont have a telegraph..

I wouldn’t recommend minions in a large team fight but in smaller fights they are quite easy to keep alive. And if you go with Celestial Signet Necro you can easily get past the Elementalist’s Diamond Skin to make your Condi Transfers work.

As stated, Soul Marks makes your marks unlockable, giving you an unlockable condi transfer. Also, Consume Conditions is still a great heal if you are having issues with condi cleanses. If nothing else, Minions are the kings of condi cleanses and transfers. Also warhorn interrupts blocks.

Burning is friggin ridiculous

On Guardian, Judge’s Intervention and Virtue of Justice are the only burns without a telegraph. Judge’s Intervention is mainly used to burst high stacks of burn, that should be cleansed. Virtue of Justice isn’t life threatening if you have even somewhat decent condi cleanse or vitality. If you are getting burns because you are attacking the guardian while blocking, that is you’re own fault.

Point is, most of all the burns in the game have easily recognizable telegraphs. Some may be able to burst you with burn stacks without a telegraph, but that is what condition cleansed are for, and most of these high burn stack bursts have lengthy cool downs.

Still, burning does need some tweaking when it comes to how many stacks some skills apply, but nothing more.

For the people who say no, I want to ask: How exactly would a dueling system negatively affect you (if there was an auto-decline option which was switched on initially)?

Such a system existed in WoW. People trolling players for not accepting duels, especial players that clearly had no chance of winning. Much of the toxic community resides in sPvP due to it being a competitive environment and a breeding ground for trolls. Last thing we need is those players trickling in to troll players in open world maps that have no interest in pvp. Lastly, this is already being implemented in guild halls, so continually asking for this is now pointless.

I was playing WoW for the full free trial one month and I was actively looking for these toxic duelists.

I hanged around the dueling spot in goldshire. No one there was harassing me even after I declined their request.

These toxic dueling story is probably a minor thing. You remember it because you remember bad things better than the good things.

Your 1 month free trial time obviously makes you very experienced in this. Lol. And like I have said before, dueling will be allowed in guild halls, so this is pointless.
