Moa is far from OP. I have never died due to Moa. Ever. Portal is not worthy of being an Elite. Like seriously guys, play these OP specs and understand them and how to counter them before coming in and saying there is no counterplay and something needs a nerf.
Find a group and do it if you are having that much trouble. Or you could also watch a youtube video of how it is done. Biggest issue I had was getting in the air during the big attack phase (sometimes the updrafts just wouldn’t work). But other than that, pretty straight forward fight.
Also, if you happen to be running a build that does not take Inventions or Tools, you can always get perma swiftness with a simple Lightning Field + two blast finishers of your choice. Mine are normally Healing Turret and Flamethrower 2 or Elixir Gun 4.
Nope, head arnor that removes hair is always bad. Was going to use it, but now it’s lame.
Yeah, I was wondering this too. I try to get on the team with the most Dragonhunters, but I can’t see the icons. ; P
Not sure what all the fuss about Druids are. Maybe it’s because I play Scrapper, but all you have to do is shut them dow. With some cc and burst them down. Heralds are rough, but not OP.
Does it remove the charr’s hair style?
I’ve been running full zerk, with healing turret, flamethrower, blast gyro, slick shoes, and mortar. Using firearms, tools, and scrapper. May not be exactly support, but it does provide damage, combo fields and finishers (nice for aoe perma swiftness and blinds), and does incredible damage to break bars (I can solo most break bars).
I’d have to say I like the new look better.
Me and a random Mesmer teamed up and downed that skill challenge. And you know what? It was fun, challenging, and felt rewarding in the end.
You guys are the reason they dumbed down the new player experience. There is a scout right at the start. Mousing over icons tell you what they are. The Masteries have a nice little tutorial, the characters in the story even explain stuff to you. I mean, I feel like you guys aren’t even trying. ; P
Question, are you wearing zerker gear?
I also can’t really grasp what is so bad. I’ve been able to solo the new content just fine so far.

So it’s possible to use the elite specs in pvp without purchasing the expansion ? I’m asking, because I have gw2 uninstalled.
No, it is not possible to use elite specializations in PvP if you do not own Heart of Thorns.
Yes, elite specializations are far superior to normal professions, and have no drawbacks whatsoever.
No, you cannot choose to join matches with other players who do not own the expansion.
Yes, this does mean Guild Wars 2 is now technically Pay-to-Win.
Right now, most of the Elite specs are not good.
As a matter of fact, I have no idea why they even refer to them as “Elite”.
The intention is to balance all the new “specs” to be EQUAL to all the base specs. So if people without the expansion can’t beat them then they will get nerfed.
Right now however, most of the Elite specs suck. So I have absolutely no idea what you are complaining about.
well i was fighting a druid character with my ranger and had no effect on him.. he instantly heals ..no matter what i hit him with..yesterday..was killing players left and right.
Pst…. try some cc. I swear, this thread is so funny. Just because something is new and people don’t know how to fight them yet, everyone is screaming “OP” and crying that it is all pay to win now. So sad…..
Which map? ???
Yeah, the asymetrical version is better, since you’re only actually holding the staff with one arm.
I think I’ve seen people create threads just like this one for nearly every profession in the game. “Why is it I always get hate whispers on X class but not on any other class I play?”
Simple fact…..pure coincidence. Nothing more.
Haters gonna hate literally anything that beats them. Period. And every single time these threads turn into silly argument threads.

No thanks, I actually like turrets and prefer Anet just fixes them. And I have no desire for Gyros to be invulnerable. Gyros just need some adjusting and they will be pretty great to use.
There is some hard-core drama queen thieves in here. All cranky over a 6 second reveal. But it’s ok, I get it. I mean after all, you thieves ha e literally no idea how to fight an opponent that can see you. ; P
Sure cant. We have the lowest hp pool in the game and everyone got a damage buff.
Our defensive measure is literally only given to us as a trait when we are in stealth. And it was nerfed before we got it, because [reasons].
I don’t see how people can just ignore that. Common sense says that if you increase the dps of every class, and increase all the mitigation availability of said classes, but allow the class with the smallest hp pool to have its defense removed because [reasons], they’re going to be justifiably angry.
My bad guys, the ones no one runs are not telegraphed. You got me.
Who is this no one, and where can I find him.
Better question, what reveals ‘are’ telegraphed? Why is stealthing not okay because [no counterplay], but reveals without counterplay are?
If the existance of a few reveals is breaking your class, then your class has much more serious issues than this. The sole survivability of the Thief should not rely on stealth. Yes in the Thief’s current state you made need it, but stealth is an incredibly cheesy mechanic to rely on. So I can’t really take threads like these seriously when it’s just people whining about a legitimate counter to stealth.
Now if this thread had came off as being much more constructive stating exactly what needed to be adjusted (not removed), then sure this could have been a decent thread. And for the record, Engineers have already stated that the Sneak Gyro reveal feels too strong and we are all expecting a nerf on that. But this whole, “Anet obviously hates [insert your class] and loves [insert class you hate]” mentally is just so childish and annoying.
Had this happen to me before. I’m pretty sure it is just a lag issue.
Anet is becoming more and more NCSoft like.
Keep going, then even f2p won’t save you.
I love this. You guys realize they’re just doing this to balance it out with the key drops that PvE players get from living story right? You know, trying to make it more fair instead of leaving out PvP players that have no desire to PvE? There is no conspiracy, no attempt to persuade you to buy more from the gem store, just Anet trying to be nice. I swear you people will find literally anything to complain about.
But it’s the overall behavior, decisions and actions which were taken.
You don’t expect me to say this only because of some silly key path which I have abandoned after doing three times in the row, don’t you?
That all sounds ectremely vague and seems to have 0 relevance to this thread. Go figure.

Just to put it in perspective. In PvE you can get 10g per hour. Putting in 150h and you get 1500g.
They will need multiple keys per track just to make it 50% effective as PvE farming. I don’t think anyone requesting PvP to be as rewarding as PvE, but at least make it 25% as rewarding as PvE.
Where do you make 10g an hour in pve? running COF all 3 paths will get you like 4.5g in about 30-40 min but then you can only do that once per day. SW isn’t that lucrative either… If you can’t say in forums please pm me, I’d love to make 10g/hr
In the Maize Balm farm I can easily get 10-14 gold in about 15min if that. Then I do a Silverwastes run due to diminshing returns, and back to Maize Balm farm.
Might want to change the title to HotJoin Fix List.
I feel like you are too. I dislike burning, but not because of damage because of tankiness. Also, it loses a considerable amount of damage for using soldier. And I was going to mention intelligence sigil, but I felt like people would pick up on it without having to use it as their go to. AND its on Engi which has on demand weapon swaps like ele (who still are running cele… =/ oh well). 50% damage from soldier, 130% damage from zerker, 100% from marauder. Those are the differences. A guaranteed crit is only as good as your ferocity+power. And if they spend their whole time trying to stack might, then my corrupt necro will spend their whole match with weakness on them. I dislike burning, but I will use it. However, don’t try to point a finger at someone else before pointing it at yourself first. Often times, people say what they want others to believe isn’t true for them.
Last thing, massively generalizing what? I gave an example, one that isn’t hard to reach. Incendiary ammo engi, corruption necro (dag 4, signet, staff 4), ele on anything but staff, guardians. Massively tanky is Dire. Dire is semi achievable in spvp anyway. Lemme just iterate my last point: I no longer care about burning power. Its strong, its overtuned, its annoying. Devs like it. Therefore, I will play around it. And I will stop whining. I’m just pointing out how condition damage works. You have ONE stat (and duration, but the people who get duration usually get condi dmg with it or avoid using the duration item) and burst power builds have 3. Power builds have 1. Power builds are tank builds. Burst power is power/precision/ferocity. Condi is Condidmg/x/y.
Another difference is the fact that burst damage builds will frontload 5-15k damage, while that incendiary ammo engi is blowing a long cooldown for a condi damage burst that could just be cleansed and negated. That Engi then has to rely on filler condi damage and his defensive stats while waiting on his condi bust set up to be ready again and hope the same thing doesn’t happen.
Oh look, a new burn thread. Cause you know, heaven forbid we just use one of the 100 other threads. Listen, I play an Engi. My condi clear sucks. But I kept getting matched against a bunch of condi builds so I changed my build to bring more condi removal at the cost of some damage, but it was worth it. Adapt and overcome, don’t just come here to whine.
Probably too much work for them to bither implementing this, but I love it. Especially if you could interact with the Golem afterwards and receive a breakdown of dps like you said.
Raid mechanics that exclude an entire class are a terrible idea, ANet
Maybe this is how Necros always felt trying to join dungeon groups but always seeing “Sorry, no Necros.” Just saying. ; P
Yeah, as for initial heal, Medic Gyro is not better than Healing Turret simply due to lack of condi removal and the longer cooldown. Now if the Medic Gyro had a shorter cooldown, stayed with you better, and healed more frequently, then it would definitely be worth taking over Healing Turret, especially with it being instant cast.
With the right traits and weapons and in the current meta, this is my ranking:
Top Tier
- Herald
- Chronomancer
High Tier- Reaper
- Scrapper
- Druid
Average Tier
- Daredevil
- Berserker
Bottom Tier
- Tempest
- Dragon Hunter
I think this is actually one of the most accurate rankings.
All this “Scrapper OP” is really funny.
They are not the same, they have different abilities. I have always been able to stack might and boons on my Engineer. Elementalists and Guardians have always been running around with a full bar of boons, made playing my cele necro that much funner. Even certain Thief, Ranger, and Mesmers have or have had builds that allow them to stack up boons easily.
Also, you make a posts about boons and then start throwing in info about conditions, not the same man. Lastly, if you can’t condi burst an Engi, you are at fault, not the Engi. Scrappers got a crappy purge gyro and a decent condi damage reduction trait, that is the only difference.
Instead of making false claims, how about try to figure out what you are fighting against. These specs are new, you can’t just expect to run in and yolo like always and neglect to learn anything about your new opponents.
No different from current specs. People are seriously not happy about dying in pvp to these new specs. Lol.
I’ll work through all these tonight and see if I find what I’m looking for.
Sorry, to be more clear, not looking for random builds. Most of these I’ve tried, they’re just a different take on current builds. No, what I’m looking for is something on par with D/D Ele. That’s the way these people are describing it, and I’ve seen no such thing.
Also, to those using the healing Gyro, why would you take that over Healing Turret?
So I have not been able to figure this one out. I keep seeing posts from other professions about Scrappers being too tanky while dealing too much damage. I have not been able to pull this off at all though. I’ve made a Scrapper that does great damage, I’ve made a Scrapper that is really tanky, but never both in the same build. Any got a build link for this tanky Scrapper with high damage?
I’ll get right on this tonight.
People fall for troll bait way too easily these days.
I would also like to mention how insanely difficult it is to target an ally with function gyro while in the middle of combat. Also, the fact that I’m forced to use function gyro, and thus put it on cooldown, even if I’m stomping or ressing in melee range.
Why on earth does Sneak Gyro run off chasing after the enemy!? It’s bad enough that it can’t keep up with the player, but when I’m trying to escape from a bad fight, last thing I need is to have to be forced to stand right next to the guy killing me!
Also, Function Gyro incapable of getting off a stomp or rez in PvP against anyone with a brain, and is completely useless in PvE.
Hammer is great but auto-attack is really weak.
More to come as I notice.
What about Beta players that have tested their builds and want to see how it performs in a more organized setting? Seems like a player problem, not Anet’s problem. But I’m sure you created this well thought out post using logic and not pouty emotions.
I like Scrapper. Also, scrapper can also reference a melee fighter, much like the new Engineer spec.
It’s bad balance through RNG. IMO switch Tornado to Lich and increase the cooldown.
that would be amazing! as it is i go through spells of getting nothing but tornado and spells of only rampage at times, i once had 5 matches in a row where i got nothing but tornado.
almost everytime i get tornado i cancel it right away as it’s near useless, so with the RNG the cooldown time on our elite can effectively double or triple if we get unlucky and get a bunch of tornados
also tossing moa at a MM necro is a bad idea, first it only hits 3 targets, so you may not even transform the necro, and second if you’re too near 3 moas will destroy you!
Lol you obviously kite the golem, 2 bone minions , and night shade away from the necro and throw the elixer. You just dont throw it hoping to hit. Your suppose to set up your attacks
Even funner, when fighting a non-mm necro, get his hp low, when he pops deathshroud then moa him out of it and finish him off. ^.^
It’s obviously a bug. Reveal takes you out of stealth and prevents you from re-entering stealth for the duration. Too much thief salt in here.
Not going to happen. Besides, druid will be using staff, so doubt it will have any focus at all on projectile traits
What the kitten is happening….. are people really complaining about melee rangers right now?
Please do everyone a favor and uninstall the game.
Read the title of the thread. If you cannot read then maybe you should uninstall the game.
lol maybe go back and reread your own opening post. If you were beaten by a melee ranger you were 100% outplayed. There is no build in the game that is hard countered by melee power ranger, he beat you because he is better than you and your first response is to come to the forums and qq.
I’m not sure if it is fair for me to converse with someone with such a low IQ. I never said I was beaten by a melee ranger, in fact I have no trouble with them at all. I was using ranger to exemplify the point of the thread. I also used engi and warrior as an example. If you can not comprehend that, I can’t help you…in fact no one can.
For the record OP, you are getting responses like these because what you are describing is literally impossible. This means that you are complaining about something you don’t understand, and it is apparent you’re not going to listen to what anyone here has to say. Therefore, one can conclude that you are either here to troll, or just a complete noob here to complain about nonsense. Either way, you’re just making a fool of yourself.
On the healing gyro toolbelt, keep in mind it is also a water field. We have plenty of blast finishers on our current builds, and the hammer engi will be able to get 3 leap finishers in that water field from a single attack.
Healing Turrets has 2 Waterfields, why should i use the gryo?
It also applies protection. Can’t remember duration and cooldown but there is that to consider too. And let’s face it, Healing Turret is one of the best heals in the game, it’s hard to compete with in the first place.

You guys have no idea what raids will be like, how about we hold off on all the doom and gloom for a bit eh?
