I think it is just something that has been overlooked atm, because the way it is now just doesn’t make much sense.
Think I may actually give in and pre-order to try the Reaper out.
This is like complaining that you are excluded from dungeon armor skins because you only feel like playing WvW.
Nope. There are two independent reliable sources of those. For ascended weapons and armour there is only crafting (RNGesus makes depending on drops highly unreliable).
It still doesn’t change the fact that a player that decides that he doesn’t want to pvp or run dungeons will never get dungeon skins. It’s the same exact argument. There is no meaningful difference.
Multiple reliable means of access is a meaningful difference.
One example is cosmetic only (and so completely subjective in terms of merit) while the other involves objective superiority. Another meaningful difference.
One involves a, “zero skill challenge,” task while the other requires some non zero skill challenge. Also a meaningful difference.
The original complaint was that the op doesn’t want to craft but wants ascended armor and feels that he should be able to obtain ascended armor by playing what he enjoys playing. This is the same as a player that doesn’t want to pvp or run dungeons saying he should be able to get dungeon skins from WvW. To say otherwise is trying to argue for the sake of arguing.
It is not the same. Do dungeon armors have the best stats in the game?
You made a claim about meaningful difference. Examples were provided. If you cannot support your position then feel free to argue about arguing for the sake of arguing instead of speaking to the facts.
Fact stands in both situations the complaint is that something in the game can not be obtained because you can’t be bothered to do the required content. In that sense there is no difference that is meaningful to that topic. Your comprehension skills are not my problem and I really can’t be bothered to break everything down in layman’s terms for you.
Regardless it is no different from current legendaries requiring Gift of Battle forcing them to play some WvW or Gift of Exploration forcing them to do map completion or dungeon-specific gifts requiring them to farm dungeon tokens.

Not buying the expansion doesn’t equate to quitting though. =p
But they have the same complaints, so they would still benefit of posting in an “I’m quitting” thread so they can tell the support group how upset they are.
Threads like these get real old. Too many personal feelings and opinions always involved.
“Due to [insert silly reason] it’s obvious that….”
- “Anet doesn’t play [insert your class] and favors [insert the class you hate]”
- “Anet doesn’t care about [insert your preferred game mode]”
- “Anet has no idea what they are doing”
- etcetera etcetera
And then we get all these posts where players are flaunting their tiny wallets threatening to not support the game with their cash as if anyone really cares. If you want to quit, just quit. No one really cares why. Just open one massive “I’m quitting game due to [insert reason]” thread and you can all complain together in one place.
Wow people seems rather toxic here !
For those who read posts (seems almost no one), I am not proposing or requesting something.
Sure about that?
Hello,
As many other users i am excluded from the ascended armor gears. Indeed i play to have fun and crafting is not something i want to spend any time on.
The question:
Will i still be excluded from the ascended armor gears in the soon coming expansion?Bottom line is that anyone should be able to have access to best gear without being forced to do something you don’t like (if i can buy it at TP, even expensive it is fine).
Thanks for answering
Bottom line is, Ascended armor is in no way mandatory, and is easily obtained by crafting. This is like complaining that you are excluded from dungeon armor skins because you only feel like playing WvW. Yes, you can play the game any way you like. No, everything in the game will not be handed to you.
I normally just run with Guild of Madness, but we have a pretty big presence and win most of our match ups.
However, I can’t see not liking crafting as a valid reasoning.
I do actually, to some extent anyway. Anet has made an explicit point of promising the game to be ‘play as you want’. For example, for exotics there is a variety of options available to get them (loot drops, karma vendors, crafting, trading post). Thus exotics can gotten by playing as you want. This is not the case for ascended gear. It is then not a matter of entitlement but a matter of Anet making good on their promise.
Players have a way of twisting everything Anet says to benefit their ridiculous arguments.
Dear Anet, I’m a bad player and got pwned by some Necros. I thus conclude they are OP though I literally know nothing about them. Please have your devs look into this and nerf them.

I really like the image. The artist did an amazing job here.
Actually the artist just re-used an image already in the game. Make a new Norn character and watch the intro.
Open world is for PvE only. They do not want PvP elements in PvE, they haved stated this numerous times. Don’t even know why we need a new thread on this every time?
Not to mention, due to pve gear and the game not being balanced for 1v1, dueling would be a pointless kittening contest that would do nothing but introduce more trolling. Dueling servers exist. You can make your own or join an existing one. Also, there will be dueling in guild halls. So really, these threads are pointless, just like always.
This “Meta” if that’s what you want to call it, is still being balanced. It is not set and will obviously change drastically when HoT hits.
Please be Druid. I need that information to decide to main my Ranger or Necro come HoT.
I just dont see it, the only damage they mention is condition damage, which will not address the issue.
They state that some builds are OP, but when every class blows you out of the water in no seconds flat are they really OP or is that just the meta?.
Says so right here.
Please, for a love of whatever of the GW God’s you choose…get a test server. It is just unacceptable to me personally to see an entire game get unbalanced and the community have to play the waiting game until things are corrected.
This happens, because as bright as the people balancing things are, they simply cannot predict what is going to happen in a mass environment with live players. Can run all the algorithms in the world and that won’t stop a few players from devising a way to totally ruin the game.
Also, I don’t think we should pin this on conditions being too strong. I think everything is too strong.
I understand that this would be helpful but in the absence of a test server, which is our current situation, we will do as much as we can as fast as we can. We made some changes today and more will be coming as the week goes on. After that our intention is to make balance and bug fix changes to this stuff every couple of weeks leading up to the release of HoT.
Also, not everything is too strong, just all forms of damage.
Jon
He mentions all forms of damage need to be toned down in that post. Also, Power Necro and Power Ranger haven’t gotten any stronger in terms of damage.
All my queue times for NA Unranked are normally less than 3 minutes.
There is only a small group of players that seem to enjoy playing it seeing as how every time it pops up for a vote, it gets just as few votes as skyhammer. And you could always host a custom server that is courtyard only or join one.
20 gold says neither Revenant nor Warrior get dagger with this upcoming set of Elite specializations. Let’s not be silly, you all know I’m right. However I’ll gladly take anyone’s gold that thinks I’m wrong.
There are some truly insane posts in here. Like tin foil hat insane. Does anywhere here actually believe they would remove all water combat from the game?
- It was unbalanced so it was removed from PvP until they can balance it. Low priority though.
- Some starter areas no longer have underwater hearts due to Anet assuming underwater combat might be confusing for new players.
- Underwater combat is not a major part of the game, thus I’m sure Anet felt no reason to make a big announcement about the Revenant’s underwater skills.
So that’s it, plain and simple. And now a dev has even confirmed that Revenant will have an underwater weapon. Just…..I mean……..wow guys.
So stuns would stay on while you’ve got stab on too. This will trigger things like sigil of impact, tempest defense and unsuspecting foe. All the CCs would need to be treated the same.
Stuns are not conditions. CC effects are not conditions.
Fear is a CONDTION that causes CC.
No idea why this is so hard to understand. >.<
Where did this come from? O.o
Thanks for advice. I actually completely forgot about this thread. Gonna apply some changes to the build, test them out, then come back for more advice based on my findings.
Just report it. It’s a current issue. It’s not lag, it’s not something that has always been in the game, it’s not user error.
Hotjoin has to stay. As bad as it can be, spending most of my time waiting in a que to play the game blows. To improve hotjoin…
- No team picking, just the option to join match or spectate.
- Hide team composition and score when selecting whether to join match or spectate. Just put a black screen or loading screen in the background with nothing but a “Join Match” and “Spectate” button available.
- Once you become a spectator, there is no joining the match after it has started.
Just had a match against 3 rampage warriors….
Yeah rampage is fine. Totally okay. It doesn’t do any of the following
- Endless mobility
- Spammable CC
- Super high Health
- Reduce incoming Damage
- Proc passive endure pains.
- and definitely no damage.
Yup rampage is fine because it totally doesn’t have any of those things and that makes it totally okay. If anything maybe this skill needs buffed eh?
/sarcasm off.
Said a guy that defend the most op class ever made; mesmer. Just go in the endless stealth and moa him…..
Lol good mesmer builds don’t use PU.
The build in your signature uses PU. Just saying.
Not like any of this matters. I’m assuming attempts will be made in the future to balance damage back down to where it should be, and Rampage is no exception.
Stab is stab at the end of the day. He didn’t refer to juggernaut, he referred to stab.
I think that the concept of this thread is going right over your head. Maybe you should take a break…
I’m saying that its fine the way it is. If you make it so terror procs then all other on CC effects like damage and the like should proc for the duration of the CC.
Terror is not an on cc effect. It’s condition damage. It already works like this in PvE. There would be no reason to change anything else.
Terror procs when you fear someone. Fear is a CC. If terror procs when fear is used, it is an on CC effect.
Terror does not proc when you fear someone. Terror is the condition damage caused by the condition Fear, whether that opponent is cc’d by the Fear or not. That is how this skill works in PvE. That is how this skill should work in PvP. If you still can’t understand this then maybe this thread is not for you.
Wow. No. It’s not readily available. It’s not a matter of just adjusting your playstyle…. if you do adjust your playstyle for using fitg as your stunbreakable you will without a doubt die way more often.
I always find it incredible that people don’t understand this.
How would it screw pulsing stab skills? I literally just explained how it would be useless agaisnt pulsing stab skills.
Except for pulsing stab isn’t a stun break.
The next stack of stability always overlaps with the prior. Thus this change would not mess up pulsing stability in any way.
You know, I will never understand why Necro downstate cc is the only one in the game that has to have a giant tell. Literally it is a huge sign that says “I’m about to fear you!” While the other professions have either no tell at all or a slight drawback or raising of the hand.
In a world where the supposedly manipulative, robe-wearing necromancers are actually the most tanky guys in gameplay~
In a world where people have no idea how to fight a Necromancer.
Seriously, you have any idea how many times people just feed my Life Force by relentlessly attacking me with my Spectral Armor up and then complain about how OP and tanky Necros are.

We are close, and for once we are moving in the right direction. I see more and more Necromancers every day. Even have VeeWee jumping ship and hopping to our forums.

IMO people with stability should be able to get feared! They don’t lose control of their char, but the fear condition is still on them! That way anyone who has traited extra damage or crit per condition can benefit! And should their stab run out while fear is on them, they will be disabled! Also Necros will be able to get their Terror damage off on someone with stab!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
On second thought I may be ok with you joining Necromancers.
Anyways, it’s a good point and makes complete sense. Stability should prevent the cc portion of the fear, but the damage portion should still do it’s job.
agreed. and it took an engineer main to point this out.
what have necro mains been doing? rolleyes
This has acrually been pointed out and discussed many times. She just brought the topic back up again.
Just prevent stomp ability while it’s active, fix the stab to fear conversion and many could argue why stances work while in Rampage.
removing stances when you enter rampage is fine, it’s the same for necro spectral skills. the fear to stab conversion obviously needs to be fixed. but removing the ability to stomp/ress in rampage would be awful for the skill. it’s often used to finish and stomp, or to ress much like necromancer plague. i forget if you can stomp and ress in any of the other transformations (you cant in tornado obvs because it ping pongs), but i know you can in rampage and plague and many use them for that exact purpose.
Yes, everyone is doing really high damage. But that doesn’t mean we should ignore things that are clearly being abused, such as when Engineers were one-shoting people out of stealth. Warriors are getting noticed now because they are running around, completely immune to damage and cc effects, and hitting people for 10k attacks.
is it abuse though? i feel like it’s a symptom of the problem the game has right now, and not a cause. damage, both condition and power increased dramatically, while vitality and toughness were given no such compensation. thus damage is far too high and everyone goes splat.
rampage also i feel should be a difficult to deal with skill, it’s an elite with a long cooldown. perhaps the cooldown should be increased by 20 or so seconds. it should be harder to deal with than the zerker ham/gs warrior who popped it, who i should mention has more mobility than rampage and only somewhat smaller amount of cc. rampage is also very very telegraphed, not to mention with no condi clear it is very vulnerable to burning.
The combination of stances with Rampage is removing the aspect of counter play. Not all attacks are easy to avoid, and getting hit by just two of them will kill you. Yes, it is players that have found another broken aspect of the game and abusing it for cheap kills. It’s no different from Engineers one-shotting people with Grenade Barrage, but it is also not the only mechanic being abused, just the one being discussed in this thread.
and yes bersi war is by far the hardest spec to play succesfully in decent or higher lvl of play many many people (about 80%) totally suck on bersi warrior they can’t play it AT all
You can’t suck with iwin button elite.
how bad at this game are you that rampage is an iwin button against you?
Let’s be realistic here. Yes, people are exagerrating how OP Rampage is. However, faulting anyone for dying to an elite that can dish out 10k damage attacks in quick succession is pretty silly. Overall, Rampage is not OP. But like many other skills in the game right now, the damage is too high, and people are noticing it more on Rampage cause Warriors are running around with full imunity killing players in two or three shots. I’m sure for a Warrior it is fun and all, but for other players it is not much of a fair fight.
yeah, but everyone is dying in three shots. my pals skullcrack build 100-0 my zerker engi in one 100b skullcrack combo. warrior autos for 2k+, 100b does over 10k, rush hits for 4-5k. rampage doesn’t do a lot more damage than the warrior does out of rampage. my other pal hits a 5k+ cloak and dagger then backstabs for 10k+, it’s so easy to kill now.
i just cant see how rampage is problematic as a skill currently, when instagib is so easy to achieve in the current state of the game. damage is stupid high right now, and while im not a fan i cant see how this is an issue with rampage.

Rampage is balanced it’s what elites are meant to be “ELITE” when used at the right moment they are rewarding. Thank you anet for making warrior a warrior yes high risk rewarding profession.
The only thing that needs some slight adhusting on Rampage is the damage.
Going to investigate more, but I finally ran into a Warrior abusing it. The Warrior Rampaged, I went on the defensive, things were going well, using death shroud to soak up damage, then it happened. While in Death Shroud witb about half a bar, I was knocked into downstate. Was completely shocked. In 2 hits from Rampage, the Rush and the Rock Throw, I took 20 thousand damage!
So yeah, not all Rampages are htting this hard, seems you have to spec for it, but the damage does need some adjusting. Other than that the skill is fine.
On a final note, would like to point out that nothing on the Warrior is “high risk.” I mean, do Warriors even know what it’s like to have to decide it’s time to use a heal?
Noo, stay on Engi-forum!
Just want to get one thing off my chest…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Cracks me up all those people that were defending this swearing up and down it wasn’t a bug and was intended. Omg, good thread. Not everyone knows either. Still have Engi’s getting shocked when their Grenade Barrage doesn’t one shot me and they get wasted.
If the capture point was really small, like big enough for one person, that could be fun.
Na. If we still had Renewing Blast, then I think we could of made an incredible support Reaper. But without that, we can’t really provide any sustained support outside of Vampiric Presence’s life siphons, which I noticed you didn’t take. Also no sure about you choice of utilities. Consume Conditions is a very selfish heal, Signet of Vampirism or Well of Blood would fit the role much better. Same goes for Spectral Armor and to a certain extent CPC.
Hi there Thieves! So since launch I’ve only ever played Necromancer and Engineer as my main characters. I’ve toyed around with every profession to learn how certain builds work and how to counter them, but I’ve never played them in depth.
So for the longest time, despite being obsolete everywhere but WvW, I’ve stuck with my Necromancer as my main profession and thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the Reaper spec to try new builds, but until the Reaper is available, I’m getting kinda bored.
So I thought about what I should try playing. I like playing a variety of build types, but right now I’m in the mood for stealth and poison. So I figured Thief might be perfect.
So quick question, since the new update, how effective is a condi thief in sPvP? I toyed around with the build below in hotjoin for a few matches last night before I had to log off.
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=Vg33R3;0RwVa06-FOVd0;9;4IKM;0036247058;4WwG7U;1isXAisXA1y
Having never really played Thief it’s probably a pretty choppy build. I didn’t even get much of a chance to try it either due to going into an outnumbered match where they were camping the spawn.
So I’m curious, is there a similar build with the same idea of dealing damage with poison, bleed, and torment that is somewhat effective? If so, how does one effectively play this build? Are there any good videos I should check out?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Never forget. >.<
OK so Rangers are laughing off condi bursts and maintaining 7+ stacks of might. Is there a counterplay for this?
You must hate fighting Signet Necros.
