OMG A NECRO DIDN’T JUST ROLL OVER AND DIE!?

This seems to be blowing everyone’s minds. lol. It’s not a bug, it’s a Necromancer creating a tanky build to counter all this insane damage flying around. This is something every profession is capable of, but people love seeing people melt as fast as possible so they all go glass.

Rampage > Lich

Rampage and Lich are fine.

Depending on your profession, you can blind spam, block, evade, and use terrain advantages to avoid the bulk of his attacks, and stunbreak the ones you do get hit by. As for boon removal, it is still viable if you have any idea on how to chain cc’s after removing the stability. Such as on condi necro (when Stability —> Fear was working) I could corrupt stability causing warrior to run in fear, chain another fear, corrupt the next pulsing stability into fear again , and then follow up with more condis and maybe another cc.

Not to mention some elites straight out counter other elites. Such as Plague form making Rampage, Tornadoe, Lich form and such null and void.

And for those still thinking Lich Form is OP, you are either new or still haven’t learned to play the game. In addition to the usual counters such as Elites (like Plague Form and Moa), cc chains (only 1 stack of pulsing stability), focus burst (no healing or defense aside from a single condi clear in Lich), reflects, blind spam, blocks, invuln, and line-of-sight, you can also run one huge circle around the Lich and he will miss every attack due to slow projectile speed. Or hell, just stand in one spot and spam ADADADADADAD.

Seriously guys, at least make an attempt to learn to play. >.<

Best Attrition Class/Build Post Patch

Like Kako said, either Ele or Ranger. However, Necro is also a great choice. There are a couple of bunker builds like Minon Master or Spectral Bunker that work great in this one shot game. I’ve been playing Spectral Bunker myself, had an Engi try that one-shot Grenade Barrage crap, and just laughed it off. Condi users kill themselves when you transfer condis back. And if you manage everything well you can get some decent uptime on Death Shroud and survive quite a bit. I can solo up to 3 enemies for quite some time on a point.

I have never had any luck with MM. My minions die to easily in the ocean of damage that’s flying around everywhere. And the ones that are alive are standing around confused about what they should be doing. >.<

Wow, they did leave that out. In the meantime, while in game you can /wiki deathshroud or just google and read up. True it’s inconvenient, but it’s not like you’re incapable of pulling up that information on your own.

So this isn’t really a new build since it was a thing before the patch, but it seems everyone has been focusing on MM, Signet Condi, or Power. I’ve been using the build above lately and it feels much better than it did before the patch. I’m able to solo up to 3 players on a point for quite a bit of time, at which point either I die and my team capped the other 2 points or I’m able to hold off until help arrives.

So, if anyone else is running a Spectral Bunker and have tips on improving the build or if anyone is new to the build and wants any advice, I’d love to collaberate about the Spectral Bunker in this thread.

On a side note, omg I love Transfusion reviving someone. It pulls players through walls and everything so long as they are in range. So awesome yanking a player out from under someone in mid-stomp and reviving him.

Would just like to come here and point out that just because Necromancers are actually killing you for a change and you’re starting to realize the profession exists, doesn’t mean it needs to be nerfed.

Oh and mark my words, if Necromancers were to receive yet another nerf, especially with the current state of all these other professions running around melting peoples faces off, there would be riots! O.o

Signet is condi necromancer. If you’re talking about pve, well condi necro never existed there, so anet didn’t break anything. So far Anet has improved on everything about our class, aside from some issues with corruptions. I really don’t see what there is to complain about.

Since you are using this bug to get an unfair advantage over other players it would definitly be a reason to be punished for, if you are using it excessively.

I don’t really play engi, but what I understand from this thread is the fact you just use a trait to get that high damage. How is that an exploit?

Because there’s a certain way of gaining the advantage. If u saw the video, u see u need to throw the nades behind the target, which, Engineers normally never do. So they purposely aim behind the target to one-shot.

Thats knowingly exploiting a bug.

I get that, but again, it’s not the players’ fault it’s still in game.

An exploit will always be in a game; its the player’s choice to abuse them or not.

It’s like blaming the shopkeeper for you stealing his candy because the candy was there..

It’s player’s choice, really. They can play it fair or be non-competitive and cheat.
Those can be banned for couple of weeks, imo.

That is hardly an accurate comparison. There is no reason to ban them. If Anet accidentally buffed Ranger Longbow # 2 to one shot people. Should Rangers just stop playing Longbow until Anet finally gets around to fixing it god knows how long from now? No. Anet messed up a trait. That trait, aside from being bugged, is the best trait for a grenade build. Engineers are playing as they always have, there is no hacking or secret exploit involved. Sure there are many Engineers are taking advantage of it, but it is entirely Anet’s fault, not the Engineer’s.

Point being, they will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ban some players just cause you got your feelings hurt in hotjoin.

The comparison is accurate enough to make ppl understand.
It is Anet’s fault for making mistakes, ofcourse, duh.

But it’s still players choice if they want to knowingly abuse this exploit (by puprosely aiming BEHIND the target, which engineers normally NEVER do to land their nades).

Ppl come to PvP to have fun, enjoy and/or be competitive. by abusing this, you make casual ppl leave PvP OR reroll to engi and abuse this aswel.

Hurt my feelings in hotjoin.. right.

And while it may not be honorable of the Engineer to use this trait while it is bugged and it may not be fair, there is still nothing wrong with it according to Anet’s rules. Vise versa, the kid stealing candy is breaking the law. See the difference there?

Just as personal opinion and emotions have no place in a court of law, your feelings of being cheated have no place in determining a ban on another player when they have not broken any rules. Just because you cry really loud, doesn’t mean the world is going to bend over backwards and give you what you THINK you or others deserve. Fact > Opinion. Every time.

Diamond Skin - Working as Intended?

Diamond skin’s tool tip says it makes the elementalist immune to conditions while in earth. I’m assuming this works the same way resistance does in such a way that it leaves the elementalist immune even if you hit him with conditions before he goes into earth.

Now, here’s the deal. Elementalists generally revolve around attunement swapping. If he’s camping earth to keep the condis off, then his offensive pressure has just taken a big hit.

Also, 3 guys couldn’t auto attack him, a class with the lowest HP pool in the game, past 90%? Like I know some players run rabid and have very little power, but really?

That is not how it works at all. It has nothing to do with camping Earth. All it is is a trait that prevents new conditions from being applied to the Elementalist while he is above 90% health. Against a single pure condi build, yes it is a hard-counter due to the Ele’s regen. Against 2-3 players, even if they were pure condi, sounds like someone was simply outplayed.

No, not really. I have, at a minimum, 4 condi transfers on low cooldowns. It is a complete hard-counter. Just as I have to time my transfers right and make sure they hit, the ele has to make sure he doesn’t allow his health to drop below 90% from incoming direct damage. And trust me, 90% on an Ele is not alot of health at all.

No, Necro is far from bad atm. Condi Signet is ridiculously strong.

Necro’s changes are good if you accept to change your good old build, you must admit it guys.

How are signets that strong? Bosses and trash mobs don’t really put that many boons on themselves to convert and there aren’t a lot of conditions to make good use of the transfers. Condis are for sure at a disadvantage when comparing to a power necro in lich. No way your spa will keep up.

So our condi damage isn’t that great in PvE……woop de friggin doo. Things are going great in PvP right now, and Power Necro still exists for PvE and also Reaper Spec still to come. Aside from a few changes such as the Corruption nerfs, I’m very happy with where Necro is going.

This sounds very dismissive, some of us want to play condition necro in PVE and not have it be crapped on by power specs. Its been the same meta for such a long time its getting stale.

That has nothing to do with the necro, that is all around problem. Direct damage will be greater than condi in PvE, always and forever unless they drastically increase the direct damage reduction of mobs. The fact is, Signets ARE good for their current intended use. Just because someone wants to use Signets in a setting where they don’t perform well doesn’t make them bad.

Best to use it at close range. Cast a locust swarm right before going into Lich to keep people from running away. Also, if you have sigil of rage on your weapon set, it’s funny as hell when it procs in lich form.

[Forum Specialist] Specialization Update

Alright, you guys know the drill! How are the changes so far? Either answer these questions for me or just talk about what you feel is important to mention for Necromancer.

Specific questions:

  1. Blood line is clearly awesome. How’s the death line? Are you using it at all in non-minion master builds?
  2. Condi was thought to be really bad before everything came out. Have you tried out This build by Zombify? How did you like it?
  3. Have you been successfully running any odd builds such as minion master or bunker?
  4. Yes, I already have feedback on CC and Plague. I nearly ran lich on my terrormancer. I stopped mid fight to say in say chat to my enemies “Can we take a moment to recognize the fact that my Flesh Golem is literally not helping me at all?”
  1. The Death line I’ve been toying with in my Condi Signet build. It’s decent for some damage reduction and gives me access to another source of fear. Just not sure it out-performs Blood Magic or Soul Reaping. Still testing.
  2. Condi has been great for me so far, mainly due to the fact that so many people are running condi and they melt when their conditions are thrown back at them. But I’ve got to say, running a Signet Condi build really gives the fealing of being the “Master of Conditions.”
  3. I’ve also tried running MM and Power Necro. Both feel stronger than before, but are still out-performed by Condi Necro. But I figure that the Reaper spec will expand on those builds, so no worries right now.
  4. And yeah, I’ve been mostly avoiding any corruption skills right now.

With full set of sinister you can do up to 50k(without vulnerability) burning in less than 3 second. It is the most op thing I have ever seen since the game launched. Now I just hope Anet does not overnerf this.

Just getting these out there so we know we are all in agreement:

1) Conditions seem a bit strong
2) World bosses are currently too easy
3) There are some bugged skills and traits
4) There are some overpowered builds

We won’t fix it all at once but these are four large topics we are talking about. In the meantime keep the feedback and bug reports coming, and I guess farm up some world bosses. We are dedicating time towards these issues and are intending to resolve them as quickly as possible. As we have said before, the live environment differs too greatly from anything we can reliably simulate internally so big changes like today’s build will cause things to sometimes change at an alarming rateTM.

Guild Halls: Just for the large guilds?

Well guild missions are unlocked for free and cost nothing to activate and seem to be available on a weekly basis instead of daily. Look through the gw2 dulfy coverage. I believe there was an article on the coverage at e3 where anet specifically stated that guild halls will be accessible an upgraded equally whether your guild is 500 players or 15.

I guess I must of missed something, but from what I understood the amount of players repping your guild has nothing to do with the currencies you earn. 1 currency is earned automatically over time, one is earned by your guild completing weekly guild missions, and the other we are still waiting on more info on from what I remember.

So with that model in place, the guild only needs you for when they do specific guild events, no need to 100% rep.

Aka, it’s better now. also, 1 stack of bleeding while in plague form is not even going to come remotely close to killing you. They only added that one stack of bleeding to make it in line with the corruption skills theme. please learn something instead of just jumping on the bandwagon and complaining for the sake of complaining.

Well, so in order fo lich to be usefull we have to trait for it? Great balance. Also plague form does not apply one stack it applies 20 stacks of bleeding with your damage and duration.

Plague: This skill is now considered a corruption skill and applies 1 stack of bleeding for 2 seconds to you every second it is active.

You will at most have 2 stacks of bleeding on you at one time, maybe 3 with increased condi duration. Whoop de freggin doo.

And the trait isn’t for Lich, it’s for all spectral skills.

Spectral Mastery: Reduces recharge of spectral skills by 20% and increases duration by 50%. Additionally, when you activate a spectral skill you gain 5% life force. In addition to- Lich Form: This skill is now considered a spectral skill and grants 15% life force when it ends.

Meaning it now has a shorter cooldown, longer duration, and grants lifeforce on use and exit.

If you want to actually contribute, know what you’re talking about and create an actual discussion instead of whining about things that are actually ok and saying nothing about Consume Conditions nerf for example.

Not really. It’s all pretty well-based speculation and concerns at this point. I imagine that the minimum range is going to stay so that it doesn’t step on the toes of grenade kit and the stability is most likely going away. However, I would hope we could expect to see an increase in damage. Not sure on where projectile speed is going to stand though.

Racial Skills: Their place in the future

Or or or, maybe you all are just being paranoid and, get this, racial skills will stay just as they are! There is no reason to remove them, and they are a skill set, not a trait line, meaning there is no need to make a specialization out of them. They’ll just stay the exact same as they are now. Underpowered skills you can swap into your build to add some racial flavor. The ONLY ones who should be curious as to how racial skills will fit into their builds are the Revenants due to the whole Legends issue.

Engineer Specialization, signets anyone?

Could also, theoretically, be Revenants with a signet-focused Legend for elite spec.

Frankly, I’m thinking the Engineer will be getting Minions. The reveal trailer showed a hammer Engineer with unique armor being trailed by li’l helicopter drones. I’m banking on the Engineer elite spec being derived from Scarlet’s technology and using variations of her clockwork minions as supporting skills. After all, Scarlet was specifically working on anti-Dragon technology while she was busy being driven completely bonko by Mordremoth. Why let perfectly good anti-Dragon tech go to waste?

That Engi was wearing Magitech armor. The only new items were helm and weapon, which Anet has already stated that each elite spec grants the user a new armor and weapon skin. Do any of you in all honestly believe they Anet is going to give Engineers TWO AI skill types!? Especially after the mess they had “balancing” turrets?

And venoms!? Seriously!? What in that video gave you guys any idea that Venoms are even a remote possibility? And finally, those flying turrets my have nothing to do with the new skill type. They could just be the result of the re-worked class mechanic.

All that said, Signets ARE a possibility in that they at least make sense. It’s not like mechanical signets are sooooooo impossible. There are too many skill types and too little information to guess what the Engi will get, but some common sense can at least rule out what they OBVIOUSLY won’t get.

Yes, you read right! We are the Knights who say Kni! We are a new guild, about 30 members currently, looking to grow. We’ve been building influence fast and rapidly upgrading the guild. We’re focused on PvE content for now. The guild is run by a few of us old Army Medics, and we strive to maintain a fun and active environment. XP and Magic Find bonuses are up as much as possible right now, TeamSpeak server is available and website will be up soon, and we’re currently trying to coordinate Guild Bounty Training events.

If you’re interested, just hit me up in game! New and experienced players are welcome! Guild is based in Gate of Madness but all are welcome due to PvE being Megaserver oriented.

I already stopped using Ice Bow because of this info. Eles get no love from the Devs. If ANET had their way, they would totally REMOVE Eles as a class.

As you may or may not know, all movement skills are being standardized meaning that swiftness, cripple, chill, super-speed and such speed altering effects will not change the distance travelled by movement skills like rush, leap of faith, heartseeker etc. You can read the full article here

Are auto-attacks irrelevant because of your 2-5 weapon skills? No. Easiest way to think of it, Bleeds are the auto-attacks of condi.

No, it has already been confirmed that the gw2 mac beta has been performing poorly and HoT will not be releasing on Makittenil at least 2-3 years later.

If anything, I feel as though PvP and WvW are lacking. Love the combat system and over-all balance, but hate that there really aren’t any unique rewards to work for in these game modes other than personal skill. But I suppose a discussion along these lines belongs in the PvP/WvW subforums.

Don’t they both have weapon skins or armor for winning the championship? But for the average player, ya I don’t think there’s anything unique other than the titles. edit- balths backpiece unique to pvp? that’s fairly cool

Yeah, only problem is WvW tournaments are too far apart, and PvP tournaments are difficult for some people that have jobs and duties outside of the game. More frequent WvW tournaments with new rewards instead of the same old skins (I personally think they’re lame skins) and a decent PvP ladderboard with unique rewards would make a huge difference.

You must not play a light armor profession? Had so many issues getting cloth on my Engi, but it drops left and right for my Necro.
