Max damage potential at max range.
Warriors brings among the most offensive utility of any class in a dungeon. That near perma fury alone is much better than any utility, say, an engineer can bring. Did you know that an engineer can gain 3 stacks of might from a master trait, and they NEED to use a heal skill to get it, while a warrior can give 3 stacks AND fury from FGJ alone? An engineer used to bring great healing via elixir, but that’s nerfed now. And with the unreliability of elixirs, they kinda lack support.
What makes you feel that shouts and banners don’t influence combat? Really, warriors traited right are among the best support classes (PVE perspective) and are the best burst healers in the game, give or take elementalist. The only thing they lack are fields.
With the nerf to grenade 1 (direct damage) and the buff to shrapnel + the addition of sigils (earth for instance), would rampager now be better for a grenadier in PVE? I find that I can stack 20+ bleeds easily with sigil of earth.
Would rampager be viable with grenades? Since the buff to shrapnel and the sigil increases the bleeds.
Would this work with Engineer medkit pack?

You DO realize that this probably the first time GW2 has been down for any extended length of time in a long time right?
Compared to the maintenances of other MMOs, heck even non-MMOs like Diablo 3, the downtime of this game is pretty nonexistent.
I use a warhorn/axe as my secondary set (GS main).
I actually never see signet warriors in my PUG groups now.
If you’re using GS, it’s probably mandatory to grab forceful GS, which is THE trait for the greatsword.
Thieves are generally rough looking characters who wear rough looking clothing.
Remember that berserker also has STR as its main component, so yes the damage differential is quite large. Use berserker if you’re fully confident enough in your ability to survive, if not mix some knight’s gear to fit your need. Personally, I aim for around 1200 toughness (2 knight earrings), with the rest berserker.
Ncsoft does not equal Arenanet…
Arenanet is a studio owned by Ncsoft.Ncsoft closed/stopped directly supporting two of its western MMO’s fairly recently… Aion and City of Heroes.
“Game Production Studio (Seattle, Washington) – The NCsoft Game Production Studio brings products from the NCsoft development teams in Seoul to the West, including Lineage, Lineage II, and Aion.”
NCsoft’s publishing studio might not equal Anet, but it reflects the plight Anet is in. GW2 is not making the money they were banking on and GW2’s failure has lead to people getting fired. It is only a matter of time that Anet is also effected. Not to mention this news comes from a leak, so in no way shape or form does this rule out Anet not being affected. We just don’t know yet how much trouble Anet is in.
In fact I think with the bugs rolling into Anets latest patch maybe a lot of people got fired while working on that patch and that’s why it’s in total disarray.
Now this is scare mongering and complete out and out conjecture.
Rather than worry about what you’re going to do should this game suddenly become a horrible p2w parody of itself, start focusing on how you’re going to react to it should it come, because leaving doesn’t affect them as much as a subscription based game.
Hows it conjecture, the investor conference was a couple of months ago. It’s available for the public. Just search NCsoft investor. Leaving definitely affects them. When an investor asks NCsoft the current population concurrent users that is. They don’t want to hear oh their on vacation. When other F2P MMOs are turning a profit. Profits can not be made if people leave. It’s far more devastating for a F2P game than you think, because first off they have to make back 5 years of development funds, do you think they hit that yet? How about marketing funds, probably no where near that.
From what I understand from the investors meeting GW2 did 68% less than the projected profit. In other words GW2 is running in the red. Everything Anet does for the game is for investors. Not for players, they have to make the game profitable or there is no game.
There no fear mongering in that it’s just fact. Like for instance THQ has to run in a positive 5 million on hand cash or Well Fargo comes and closes them down to liquidate. If GW2 doesn’t stay in the black, then NCsoft comes over to them and says well you’ve had X months to bring us a profit. We’re going to close you down and give the game to a much cheaper company that will maintain it for pure profit.
Where is this 68% data? I’m 100% sure that news outlets will be all over that if it was really what is happening.
Selling gold ore should net you at LEAST 1 gold as well.
Yeah I’m not disputing that (I can buy a set now if I want, but I like the COE armor better).
Got my set after playing ~20 minutes a day for a month. I see no problem.
Really? I find that hard to believe… what exactly can you do in 20 minutes per day? You can probably run HOTW 1 or an AC path, but that’s already pushing it. You can’t really farm much in 20 minutes as well…
That’s a gold rate of 16 per hour (given you started out at 0)
I can do around 10-20 per day by farming cursed shore or by doing dungeons. If I was lazy and I didnt want to make gold hardcore I could still easyly make 3-4 gold(2-3 hours max) per day by playing casualy.
So if you count .. 130g / 3,5g = 37 days tops (for casuals) and that is reasonable amount of days to buy your full cultural tier 3 armor, one of the most unique and rare armor in-game. In mmorpg that you should play for years what is 30-40 days? NOTHING
Players who want to buy cultural tier 3 armor (the most rare and prestigue armor ingame atm) in one week, legendary weapons in one month should reconsider if MMORPGs are for them because I dont think so.
It should take weeks, if not even months to buy cultural amor tier 3 and it should take months or even years to craft a Legendary weapons. WHEN YOU START to understand this, everything will be easyer
You dont buy Bentley after one month in work do you?
But you play 3 hours max per day. He plays 20 minutes!

LoL has the best implementation of a cash shop I know. They have no P2W value there (except champions, which you can also earn through IP – free currency), and they make most of their sales through skins.
I think OP you should put that it’s ridiculous farming for one TODAY. It used to be a loooot easier a month ago. It would have costed around 600 gold for a legendary before. It’s about 3 times that amount now, while gold generating methods through normal play didn’t go up 3 times as well.
I think he said it’s not really FEASIBLE to farm because of DR and drop rates. He is very willing to farm if possible.
The warrior IMO is the most rounded of all classes, higher than the guardian because they actually have viable ranged options. This becomes extremely important when you start hitting, say, the high level fractals.
Aside from that, I feel they’re the most versatile classes (along with the engineer) in terms of builds and other stuff.
IIRC swords have the highest direct damage of any condition weapon of any class right? It should be weaker than GS and axe, since they don’t do anything but direct damage. IMO the damage isn’t really the problem, but the easy removal of conditions.
The sword is actually a hybrid weapon. It gets about 50/50 direct damage and condition damage. Toughness/Prec/CD is not maximizing the sword’s potential. If they buff Con Damage, they need to lower the sword’s direct damage.
IMO COE has the best looking heavy dungeon armor.
Don’t underestimate the amount of punishment a warrior can take. Even with a glass cannon build, a warrior has about 19-20k hp and 2k+ armor. Combined with something as simple as life steal and healing shouts, you can probably melee just about anything in the game (PVE perspective) while putting out the highest dps of any class. Really, you don’t even need a shield or anything to survive 99% of PVE encounters in the game.
Hit me up, I’m always up for some COE
I use blood on my regular weapon, also have fire and strength on other weapons.
Real Life Money is the easiest way to legendaries.
Dunno something like 30k with my berserker gear and glass cannon build, but I never use it.
On my regular gear (shout heal/ berserker armor/ 2knight/1 cavalier/2 berserk accessories/soldier runes) (20/20/0/30/0) probably like 20k flat but more like 13-17k on a regular basis.
Are they bugged? Bought one 20 min ago and it never showed up in the mail or for pickup.

You know what? I feel better the more melee I see in my party.
of course you do,
they die so you dont have to.
As a warrior who mostly uses two melee weapon sets, I am offended.
Being with other melee characters just eases my life a lot, I get their buffs, they get my shouts, they share tanking duties with me, etc.
Plus runs are so much faster most of the time.
You know what? I feel better the more melee I see in my party.
Legendary weapons have always been slightly better weapon damage wise than their exotic counter parts. So no, legendaries are not the same as exotics. Rings and back are par for the course, slightly better, no real advantage.
False. They have the EXACT same stats. Don’t rely on the gw2db stats, that’s outdated.
Glass cannon warriors can survive any dungeon as long as they:
a) know the fights
b) can dodge most large damage in a reasonable way
c) have a reliable way of removing conditions
d) have good enough regen, healing and health leech to mitigate the regular enemy attacks (not the big ones) – this includes healing shouts/food/sigils/traits
e) know when to disengage
I feel that C and D are especially underlooked
My 3 gold could get me any accessory in the game before. I don’t find 3 gold a “grind”.
Though I do agree that armor/weapons are the only things you should get from dungeons.
It would make sense, and something I’m sure Anet is considering. I’d say make it even easier like:
Dungeon gear X (Exotic) + X special item dropping from specific dungeon (perhaps acquirable as well from tokens to eliminate RNG) + X + skill point based item = Ascended Dungeon Gear with new looks
That way, the old dungeon gear is still relevant, while adding more options for players to get ascended.
For PVE, I only take toughness up to around 1200-1400. That’s 2 rings and 1 earring knights with the rest berserker + soldier runes for additional toughness/vitality. I don’t feel I need any more than that when you combine it with the roughly 23-25k hp you get from the Tactics line. Mymain defense is healing shouts, which equates to roughly 3.6k hp heal every 30 seconds, and any regen item/sigil I can get my hands on (this includes blood, food, healing signet – though I bust out bigger heals when its needed).
Ironically, for a dungeon marketed as having better replay value due to different fractals, I find it a lot more tedious (not hard but tedious) than most. Maybe its the lack of immediate tangible rewards and the RNG nature.
In my dungeon experiences, I find that health regeneration and lifesteal is the best “defensive” stat. Combined with the healing shouts (I have NO healing power whatsoever), I can run glass cannon full berserker with minimal problems. And it even leaves room for mistakes.
I don’t know if anything’s changed since the patch, but that rarely worked pre-patch and usually only in places like AC. Most recruiting took place in LA.
I actually liked the old dungeons a lot, they weren’t too hard; you could get dungeon gear fairly quickly and it was easy to join groups in a hurry. I regularly farmed a few of them each day but strangely I don’t really feel as motivated to do FOTM.
Maybe its the RNG nature of the rewards, the difficulty in looking for correct groups. Not sure, but I miss PUGing the old dungeons a few times a day.
The pre Lost Shores forums was pretty much civil. You had a few dissenters complaining about bugs, lack of content, missing trinity etc., but they were probably like 10% of the actual threads. All in all, pretty much a normal – even one of the better- game forums around.
The forums now reminds me of the scorched earth wasteland that the Diablo 3 and TOR forums became a few months after launch. Whoever is reading these forums must have a pretty negative picture from all the threads. Not certain if anet anticipated THIS much of a backlash (I’m sure they anticipated some).
I don’t mind the ascended gear. I would PREFER if they not add it (mostly for the benefit of the people who dislike it), but I don’t mind it either way.
That said, I like this thread since its a very very vocal and strong showing of what a lot of people want. Rest assured, Anet will most likely take this thread into consideration when designing future content. The fact that they have 2 blog posts about it already speaks volumes of what this thread has achieved. I think they’re testing the waters with ascended, since all you have right now are rings (the accessory with the least stats) and the back.
They see how vocal the players can be over such minor additions, and I think they now have an idea what to expect when they add the bigger stuff.
At the very least, they would have second thoughts about adding another layer above ascended.
After thinking about it, I decided to give Anet the benefit of the doubt. I believe they will make ascended gear just as accessible as exotic gear is now. Which means you can get it as dungeon rewards/crafted items/karma/WvW tokens/ maybe even something new.
I believe they added it as a way of placating the gear-treadmill crowd, but without wanting to alienate the regular crowd. If they just made it same stats as exotics, these treadmill fans would complain. But if they did it subtly, like increase the stats for now, and THEN make it as easily available from other sources as exotics in the future, they would have squeezed a few more months out of the treadmill crowd, while slowly weaning the anti treadmill crowd into Ascended.
That’s my optimistic view.
I have multiple sets of exotic gear per my 2 80’s, full COE, full HOTW, COF and AC. A set of berserker, knight and rampager trinkets, different exotic weapons of different stat choices.
Still, I don’t support something higher than exotics, even if I’ll eventually get them. I’m still getting my exotic sets for different stats and builds, so in a way, I’m not yet finished.
I wasn’t aware that exotics and legendaries had a gap that needed bridging.
Oh? How many legendary items do you have? How many exotics do you have?
Does it matter? The guy with the legendary has the SAME exact stats as my Arah Greatsword. There is no gap, unless you call purple and orange names a gap.
I really wish they used something OTHER than magic find, so that people will realize that its actually a much bigger gap than they think it is. (rare rings and exotic rings have 20 or so stat point differences – I’d imagine amulets would have closer to 35 point differences, etc.).
they could have avoided this if they just made ascended gear have the same stats as exotics but with the infusion socket.
I wasn’t aware that exotics and legendaries had a gap that needed bridging.
