Revenant Unique mechanics?

Shifu.4321

What kind of “unique” mechanic would you want to see? Flying revenants? They can burrow underground like a Starcraft lurker? Maybe they can summon and ride motorbikes?

They really have to work within a context of the game’s framework. That means their “unique” mechanics have to be something that’s built into their combat without being overly complicated.

Dervish the Next Class?

Shifu.4321

Rits plz.

kthx

The role of Rits is pretty covered by Engis. Almost exactly.

erm no, not even close.
engi’s are more a different sub class, rit’s buff allies, heals allies, supports allies and does massive damage.
engi’s however are more the stationary attackers with self made backup, that’s about it.
they are children in terms of DMG compare to a rit, not to mention how well rits are made to have total CC throughout the whole battle field, something the engi can only dream of having.

maybe they seem the same because they can make turrets but they are miles apart from even imitating rit’s.

Are you playing the same engineer class I am? Because my engie can do all those things…

so they can buff the weapons of other characters, heal from a distance, do massive damage (equal to that if an ele), it’s able to support allies, enhance condition effects?
i am a GW veteran, i know the difference….

Engies can share buffs by throwing elixirs and deploying traited turrets. It’s not the same as weapon spells, granted, but this is GW2 not GW1. The mechanics are quite different. Engies can also support allies with combo fields, supply drop, and thrown elixirs. Engineers are extremely powerful condition dealers, so idk where you got that from. And have you ever used an HGH or Static Discharge build? Engies can deal a kitten-load of epic damage…

spirits can do what engi’s need to do on their own, this already puts the rit on top of better buffer in general.
also, kits take away your focus on attacks, spirits can do that without even looking twice, they can also do massive damage while you as player do even more damage while using the spirits at your own advantage.
for instance, take a simple spirit like pain and use spirit burn, all of a sudden the enemy is burning while your spirit just attacks on.
can the engi get even close?
nope, not even remotely close, even with turrets they lack combo’s entirely.
not to mention the amount of direct healing they can do, direct buffs they can do and direct partly armor ignoring damage they can do, and all that without a stupid kit changing your build.

oh and yes, i have an engi but can’t stand kits, all i use are turrets but without weapon switch it’s really annoying. (they really should allow weapon switch when not using kits)

You DO know that the engies strongest attacks are with using kits? Grenade/vulnerability is stronger than any rifle or pistol based build if you set it up with the right traits.

And stationary? The engi is one of the most mobile classes in battle. I think you need to stray a bit away from turrets and learn how to chain skills with the different kits.

Interested to see how this plays out in the new general discussion as opposed to BLTC… it’s like two experiments in one.

As you can see, in the BLTC forum, people were discussing the findings with this experiment, since it’s basically a test to check the waters of the TP.

In the general forum, people are already whining about “controlling the market”. Maybe not realizing that this is an experiment lol.

Commander sniping

Posted by: Shifu.4321

Shifu.4321

it’s really funny, too. If they don’t have anyone ready to tag up in place of their dead commander – chickens without heads, make soup and tacos and stuff.

It happens against Its Choo a lot when he commands, with that giant Charr of his and being a Platinum something. Very easy to spot, corrupt boon, pull, immob, then rapid fire him down. Even if he lives, half his zerg gets pulled out of position to save him and it’s an easy bomb and bag farm. If my computer was better I’d record it.

Pin sniping in T1 has been getting nastier and nastier. I’ve been Moa’d into Ice Bow 5, with the rest of the stuff dumped on me, or simply been perma immobilised by a few rifle engis, or chain pulled so hard my character flies into the air instead of being pulled forward. Needless to say, fights aren’t fun with such harsh pin sniping, but the tactic is here to stay

That’s why most commander use warrior/guardian, good uptime of stability and good condi cleanse/stun breaks.

Pinsnipers WILL rip off your stability, guaranteed.

Pinsniping is a valid tactic though, but there are ways to minimize it. You’ll still be caught once in a while, but by and large, experienced commanders will quickly learn to estimate how long they can stay in the line of fire before going back out for regroups.

If you want to maximize your GS, the guardian does it best. All the other classes have uses for the GS, but the guardian can use it in every single game mode (general PVE, dungeons, WvW zerg or roaming, sPVP).

The others have some game modes where the GS might not be as valuable (warrior for instance, will be better off using hammer/sword-WH in WvW, mesmer with sword/X, etc.).

A “premium” subscription being added would make sense for a new game, NOT a two+ year old game. The trend is usually P2P===> F2P (TOR for example), not the reverse. Who are they attracting with this kind of setup? Not the old players that’s for sure. The new ones? But the game’s been out since 2012, so any new players streaming in would be minimal.

The whole thing would reek of bad PR. Hell, even the removal of custom gem conversion saw articles in online gaming publications. Something seen as P2W (whether valid or not) would be a much bigger affair.

In the end, does it really matter if there’s an optimal gear? I PUG dungeons every day and I can clearly tell when people are using zerker or not. The dungeon gets done either way, give or take a few minutes. I’d wager that only about 20% of the active population actually uses full zerker, so most people don’t really seem to mind that they aren’t using the best gear they can.

Hell. I use flame legion runes because I don’t want to devote that much gold to min-maxing when I do dungeons purely for gold.

You’d be surprised how many people buy trans charges, especially for those with multiple characters. Someone with 10 characters would need 60 charges, not including the times when they decide to change their look. Since GW2 is a lot about cosmetics, I’d wager the one item in the game that can change your looks will be in demand.

You can do map completion for charges, but when you need them in bulk, the gemstore is the best option. I’d wager most people would rather spend the 20 odd gold (pretty easy to get) than the 5 maps they’d have to complete for 5 charges.

This map is super frustrating because of all the greedy ettins running around instead of doing events. The only way to fix and balance this map is to either only spawn the chests in the window after the bosses spawn OR make the chests once per day harvests.

I was really enjoying this content over the weekend but then the chest farm took over and now it’s just frustrating, annoying and generally pants all around.

And it will be mostly empty now, instead of “greedy ettins” running around.

The problem is that healing power scales terribly with most skills that you’re better off going with soldier or even sentinel as a tanky set, since the power those 2 sets offer is largely more useful than the healing power of Nomads. Unless you literally don’t intend to attack whatsoever.

After this even I will not touch it period, play yes because like EVERY poster in this thread loves the game.

I would like to ask a question; Why does Arenanet need NCSoft, what is it they do exactly?

They are a subsidiary of NCsoft and they act as publisher for Anet as well, if I’m not mistaken.

Where as a games like Aion or Lineage NCsoft is the developer and publisher.

Thanks for your reply, I am just wondering if it would better this outrage was focused at the right party that dreamed up this monstrosity, of course we’ll never really know where this idea came from, but I’m certainly not buying the ‘new player’ excuse, I would buy that NCSoft handed this down as a requirement, but just how much control do they have over Arenanet.

Personal opinion Arenanet don’t need NCSoft and should pack up their collective toys and do it themselves, they are quite a capable bunch.

I’d say they have quite a bit of control, seeing as they literally own the whole of Arenanet just like Microsoft owns the Xbox division. Asking Anet to pack up and leave would be like asking your cat to do the same. So unfortunately, we’re stuck with NCSoft as long as they own Arenanet.

Ceremonial Plated Outfit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Like I said in another thread. The most likely answer is that the design of the outfit only lends itself to a single piece. Making it multiple pieces would have required it to look drastically different with obvious “breaks” in the armor, thus probably not as nice.

Why release the costume in the first place then? Considering the amount of vitriol this costume has generated anything less than a re-design will be a failure.

It’s a great look. People WANT to buy it, however they also want to combine elements from it with other pieces. We have a wonderful tool called the Wardrobe that supports this very endeavor yet we can’t use it. The costume is useless in its current form.

Vitriol from who? The handful of threads with people complaining? When anet first announced ascended tier items, now THAT was vitriol, with a thousand plus reply thread. And you know what? They still pushed through with it.

I don’t know Anet data, but I’m pretty certain that the people who like the outfit far outnumbers those who didn’t buy it because it was an outfit.

Clipping though, that’s a valid complaint.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Shifu.4321

I’m not a modeler, but let me offer a counterpoint: they might not have created something as detailed and intricate if it was NOT a single piece of armor. All of the other armor sets have obvious “breaks” separating each armor part, which allows it to be split into multiple pieces. If you look at the ceremonial outfit, it has a more singular “flow” than the normal armor sets, which leads me to believe that even if they wanted to offer it as an armor set, it would not have been possible without changing the armor drastically.

OP, for what purpose? GW2 is 2 years old in a couple of months. It’s basically what it is. It won’t attract that much more new players, and it would kitten off the current playerbase more than it would lure new ones (see SWG).

If it was done during the beta or alpha, I’d understand it. ARR’s circumstances were very different, since it was very early in the game’s life and was needed because of terrible reception to the original game. But overhauling a game with a steady playerbase and wasting resources for what’s likely to be a futile effort is unlikely to happen.
