Norn simply aren’t as big as they were in GW1.

Min height female human vs norm (let’s just say max height)
http://oi57.tinypic.com/5yu6b6.jpg

In GW2 even a max height norn wouldn’t look that big compared to a small human.

wow, I did not remember it being that extreme… well, that is a giant girl indeed.

I’m pretty big myself. Twice the height of this human in fact.

Marketing GW2

Well, the game is almost 2 years old, so they probably won’t market it as much as they did back when it was new. It is what it is at this point, and most of the income will come from their existing fanbase. Most everyone probably already knows what GW2 offers.

Oh yes – loads of FedEx quests and not much else. Artificial barriers preventing the player from truly exploring the world of Tamriel (the very essence of EVERY ES game) and some of the most laughable, phoned-in voice acting I’ve heard in years.

The wonders of a triple-dip payment system – box, sub and cash shop (not to mention an entire race locked behind a paywall). Of course they can afford to churn out new dungeons to grind every month!

Well imho the voice acting is at least on par or better with GW2’s voice acting – they even got John Cleese saying a few lines. Unless you dont know who John Cleese is of course.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/23/the-elder-scrolls-online-voice-cast-includes-john-cleese-and-dumbledore

Err no, its not a “triple dip” system. Go watch popular Twitch streamers playing ESO, people keep repeating the same misconceptions about the cash shop – its only selling a mid tier horse that can be bought with in game gold.

As for a race being locked behind a “pay-wall” yes well its a one time off $20 increase much like how digital edition GW2 was initally released without the option to buy using gems restricting use of one of the best summon elite skills. The race bonuses arent imbalanced in anyway – its just a personal preference.

ESO’s problem is it feels so dead. NPC’s stand, sit, but basically do nothing. They don’t have conversations with each others (although they do talk to themselves). The combat mechanics are terrible. Melee range is a huge radius and you don’t need to be close to anything to kill it Also, it has LESS skills than GW2 and the combat is based on a console FPS combat. You can’t make a good looking character – they all look like they are ‘strung out’.

The Imperial Race lockout IS NOT the same what GW2 does. You can play all the races in GW2, you just get some bling and a finisher – totally different. If you think Mist Wolves are a good elite, you haven’t used the others, it is very mediocre at best.

In ESO, as in SWTOR, they spent there money on actors doing voices, but unlike SWTOR, that is all they did. Michael Gambon as one and John Cleese as the other big voice and all I thought was, this was a waste of time.

During the beta, other players talked about how free the exploration was. Well, I did that and I can tell you it was NOT very explorable. I hit more glass walls than in GW1 and almost every building you walk into is it’s own little map, zoning is everywhere and annoying.

So it’s literally an MMO version of Skyrim then?

Commander Warrior Build

Shout builds are atrocious for a commander. What use is a commander who isn’t running stability, but has FGJ, SIO and OMM? Oh yes, none, because you’re getting flinged around by every Tornado, Spectral Wall & blocked by every Line under the sun.

0/0/30/20/20, Hammer & Sw/Wh. Full PVT, even with diminishing returns.

Most shout warriors don’t use 3 shouts. They use either dolyak signet or balanced stance (and most likely last stand as well).

Shifu.4321

So you think that instead arenanet will just let you save up 200 tickets in exchange for just 250 badges?

So, in other words. Instead of spending 300 tickets to buy one mistforged weapon. You can spend an extra 750 badges and get three mistforged weapons?

I admire your optimism, but i really dont think so.

What’s the point of adding the MF recipe then, if you’re gonna go spend MORE and do the extra effort, for the exact same item?

Mistforged Weapons and Low Tier Servers

in WvW

Posted by: Shifu.4321

Shifu.4321

Considering the straight up mistforged is 300 tickets, I find it hard to believe that you will need both, since you need 100 tickets for the weapon, 200 tickets AND 250 badges plus misc items total for 1 mistforged item that you create through the MF.

Soldiers or Clerics? Need advice

in Guardian

Shifu.4321

AH is selfish, but you NEED some kind of sustain in large fights. Either you get it through healway, or something else. As a frontliner and a part of the melee train, you will most likely be going down the AH route as your sustain. That’s why the 0/5/30/30/5 and 0/0/30/30/10 is the meta build for the frontline guard.

Mistforged Weapons and Low Tier Servers

in WvW

Posted by: Shifu.4321

Shifu.4321

You won’t get a Mistforged Hero’s Weapon but you will get a Hero’s Weapon, which can be upgraded into a Mistforged Hero’s Weapon in the mystic forge.

Which takes an ingredient that costs tickets aswell. In the end it costs the same amount of tickets.
So the 6th place and lower servers arent getting a mistforged weapon this season no matter what.

In otherwords, even more reason to have stacked on 1 server. Easier to complete meta achievement and a better reward.
I cant believe someone actually thought this was a good idea.

Most likely it will cost tickets OR badges. Not both.

Just thought of the perfect comparison. Capital city and Lion’s Arch maps are non-combat maps in the same way that town clothes are non-combat clothes. Non-combat clothes for non-combat maps. Are they going to change the non-combat maps to combat maps too?

Yes.

Don’t Worry guys, you’ll have some of your Town Clothes useable as armor now! So you can pay money for Transmutation every time you want to use those Town Clothes! a healthier game!

You don’t need transmutes for outfits.

I’m guessing they looked at the numbers, saw that the amount of people who would buy outfits if they were usable in combat outnumbered those who would be affected by the change, and decided that they were willing to risk angering those who regularly used town clothes. That’s probably what happened.

At this point of the game’s life, people are already satisfied with their looks. They will only change when new armors or weapons are released.

In my example, I am already satisfied with human T3 cultural armor. Paying a high premium for unlocked skins I would rarely use is an inferior option to paying the 18 or so gold needed for just a single use skin that I would wear for a long time.

Dye Changes Feedback/Questions

Shifu.4321

You are looking at this the wrong way.

If you have an Abyss dye on 2 of your 5 characters you are not losing 1 Abyss dye, you are gaining 3 free Abyss dyes and 1 Unidentified Dye.

How so?

Have I completely misread the changes page (and the rest of my guild it seems)

From what I understand, I was losing all duplicate dyes, and having them replaced with Unidentified ones?

What he means is that since all 5 of your characters get Abyss, you’re essentially gaining 3 extra Abyss dyes, and 1 unidentified as compensation for the duplicate.

It’s only a rental system if you need to return it. It’s more like a clothing store, where you own what you buy, but need to pay for every purchase you make. BUT they give you discounts on repeat purchases, instead of having to pay the full price.

Its like a store, where you can only wear one set of clothes at a time, and every time you want a new outfit you have to pay the store. How often do you think people would wear new looks if that was the system in real life?

What? Isn’t that how real life works? I was of the assumption that you have to pay for a new outfit. When I buy a new shirt and pants, I pay money.

I have multiple sets of armor of the same stat, because I want different looks. It costs me bag space, but eh, I rarely hoard stuff.

yeah but i dont have to pay for the outfit i already bought everytime i decide i want to have a different look.

Then make another armor set of the same stats. Exotic armor can be had for a minimal cost, and all you’d be giving up is bagspace.

In real life, you don’t throw away clothes when you decide you want a different look. You have multiple shirts, pants, socks in your closet (or bag).

You can still use the skin for the first time you got it (for example buying the Viper armor from the gemstore). It’s when you transmute it to other stuff that you need charges – EXACTLY like what we have now with crystals and stones.

Well they only have to treat them the same way as always, only allowing you to combine them with other pieces of town clothing. As if they were a 4th kind of armor. I don’t think it is so complicated (it is probably the way they treated them till now, I guess). So I doubt that’s the main problem

(Also there’s a lot of clipping with normal armor so what’s the matter with a bit more?)

What I’m thinking is that they wanted town clothes with town clothes only, so if you only used, say, a shirt – that meant that you didn’t wear anything else. Anet probably didn’t want naked people running around, and couldn’t be bothered to code the town clothes with actual armor, so they went with a compromise.

Just trying to explain a probable reason why individual clothes weren’t allowed.

Feedback/Questions: Legendaries in Wardrobe

I think the opposite might happen. It will drop since people who want 2 legendaries of the same kind won’t need to make another one, and those who want legendaries on multiple characters will only now just need to transmute, drying up demand.
