fyi, capturing a guild hall is scaled, a larger guild that field more people actually has more difficulty getting the guild hall compare to a 5-men team. so ur argument is invalid.
Not really invalidating any part of the argument, as once the hall is captured it’s still on a FAST track to being upgraded by a huge guild.
If anything, you invalidated your own argument by bringing in the one and only feature that makes things harder for big guilds, especially when they might just do it with 5 officers.
the basis of your argument is this
“If it can take 5 people to capture the guild hall, those same 5 should be able to competitively keep up with upgrading the guild hall as anyone else”
however, the reality is the more people, the harder to capture thus your argument which is based on that thus become non-convincing.
also, even in the old guild system which use influence, larger guild too upgrade their guild faster unless the smaller guild pump large amount of golds into purchasing influence. still, that will means the smaller guild go out of their way to burn their pockets to keep up with the competitions. reality is, in this kind of linear progression, the larger guild will always get their guild hall up either faster or easier or both.
if u r running without virtual memory, no.
if u r running with virtual memory, yes.Could you elaborate?
Virtual memory is a feature of an operating system (OS) that allows a computer to compensate for shortages of physical memory by temporarily transferring pages of data from random access memory (RAM) to disk storage. – Google
So, is 8gb without virtual memory enough for gw2? Barely if you include your system required memories (and every single nonsense you run on your background, browser, torrrent, antivius, etc) and the fact that gw2 is now using more than 4gb memory in certain maps if you run max graphics. So, if want to run without virtual memory, is better to have at least 16gb.
However, if you have virtual memory enabled, you can just play the game as normal.
By default, virtual memory is enabled. Most gaming enthusiast will have virtual memory disabled for slight performance gain.

i didn’t spam about guild level though there is one or two out of the many that asked for guild level, i simply ignore them. why invite ppl who only cares about guild level into the guild anyway.
Yes. Let’s have every single char in game a member of a huge, anonymous guild where few care if you are there or not or if you get kicked, just so that guild halls can be built.
I’m sorry but you don’t need to be in a guild of 500 where no one cares to have and upgrade a guild hall. There’s a huge difference between 5 and 500. 50 is between those numbers and some of the closest knit groups I’ve been in have been 50 man guilds.
I’m in a guild of 200 with 100 reguilars and a core of about 30-50 people who are very close and very welcoming. We go out of our way to help new people integrate into the guild, and some of them stay and become core members, if they like what they see.
Those people who choose to be part of the family are in fact part of the family. The idea that 50 people can’t be friends in an MMO is simply misguided.
I have a ton of friends on my guild and a few people I’m very close with. I’m not sure why you think you have to limit your guild to five to have friendships.
i disagree. im a leader of near 500 active large guild and a lot of ppl made friends in the guild. i think it really is just a matter of how sociable one person is. if person is not that sociable, he/she wont do well in a large guild, he/she might fit in better in a small or medium sized guild. i have seen people who joined on later date become more well-known or popular than people who joined before, the only difference between them is how sociable they are.
one of the problem in a large guild is that a lot of people will take things for granted, well, basically diffusion of responsibility is something common in a large guild. naturally, becoz of that social phenomenon, large guilds often have stricter rules and higher expectations. regardless, we are already level 20 guild, we ran out of favors at one point :O
fyi, capturing a guild hall is scaled, a larger guild that field more people actually has more difficulty getting the guild hall compare to a 5-men team. so ur argument is invalid.
I always wonder what size of a guild people are complaining about. What is a small guild? My guild has 5 active members and we’ve unlocked the guild hall with no outside help and have been steadily building our upgrades. Very seldom do we have our aetherium sitting at max. The shovels are a pain in the behind in our small guild but that’s the only issue so far. For comparison my guild is currently level 12.
most complainers are guild of your size.
to me, anything less than 10 is consider tiny while small guild range from active 20 to 100. medium is around 200-300 while large is obviously 400-500. huge is something like tts with 5 sister guilds. well, i decided these number since i use 5 terms to describe guild sizes while most people only use 3 terms to describe guild sizes.

Anyone figure out how the guild puzzle system reward people? We have two guild puzzles to do =,=
check out the ncsoft profit/loss statement…
it stated gw2 income drop is due to cash shop items, so now they pushing more cash shops items! :OOOO
nothing new…
gw2 isnt optimised for multi cores
the new map has a lot of graphical things so the memory usage also increased
well, i do hope they work on multi cores optimisation
they too busy with 64 bits
if u r running without virtual memory, no.
if u r running with virtual memory, yes.
i don think is the small guilds that is complaining, it is the tiny guilds that are complaining.
Why do you always spout this rubbish.. care to back up this new claim you’ve put forth or like always is it pie in the Sky.. ..pun intended – maybe time you took up a new hobby, one that demands less fact and more fiction.
oh, so you saying the small guilds are complaining, i see, thanks for clarifying, i guess ts is right then.
We have some issues with some guild missions, particular missions that doesn’t work well for large guilds as we want every participants to be rewarded.
We found a workaround for guild trek but guild rush is a bit demanding. Likewise, guild puzzle rewarding behavior is strange, I do not know if members have to be inside the “Final Chest” area before accepting credits to receive the rewards or not. Honestly speaking, I prefer the old system where you reward people once you open the chest, then reward favor if is for guild puzzle or when a guild rush had 15/15, it works well for guilds of all size.

i don think is the small guilds that is complaining, it is the tiny guilds that are complaining.
There is a spreadsheet made by Radian about each siege how much damage it does to wall/gate. Here’s his video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwAJB_M2HgU and here’s the spreadsheet which you can also find in the video description https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S0RkQUsaXhBmv4y1dN7YtFWmuUq8VsUBUk1uxTj4AZw/edit#gid=0
He hasn’t made any updates since EOTM, so I’m also interested to see how much armor did the fortified gate get or if there are any updates. On a side note, I usually go for catapults because it takes too long to kill 2 canons and 2 oils for towers and 4 canons and 2 oils for keeps. And if you’re placing the rams before killing the oil/canons, then you are making a gamble which doesn’t work all the time.
Yea, I wonder if theres any raw data on the gate HP.
Which go down faster?
Depends on the siege you use.
With cata/treb (both): Wall
With ram: Gate, wall won’t go down at all.
You can also try a Mortar and Balli but that will take even longer and not sure if you really want to try that.
You trying to increase post counts?
Which go down faster?

Hi all,
This is to help consolidate all (except solo guild/tiny guild/cost, too many threads on those) guild related discussions and feedbacks.
So, feel free to post.
what caught my eye in scrapper is the walking water field with protections and also the walking dome that reflect projectile
these two make scrapper very unique in wvw group fight.
if u wan to get some mastery or is it hp, i dun rmb
check the bug section
farm fotm……..needmoredots
becoz in wvw, ppl are actually busy playing the game – taking note of chats, surroundings etc. it also require some level of team work
but in pve, most ppl r juz soloing thus they dont care about the chats.
so, is obvious there are less ppl responding to u in pve even though pve has more ppl than wvw.

No… I think what he’s looking for is a solid tier that has “blob” groups running close to 24/7 and has good fights.
Only going to get that in tier 1, tier 2 seems like it’s starting to even out nicely and might be better off than tier 1. Only issue is, they are all locked servers.
isnt that same as wanting to stack on a server? rephrasing it doesnt make it fundamentally different
Hi all,
I did some small group test, gonna test it on large group which is my guild official missions day later on.
The followings are test descriptions and results
1. Partied and spread around the trek target’s map. – No credits
2. Partied and stand near the marker and one person press – Credited
3. Not partied and stand near the marker and one person press – Credited
Apparently, as long you stand close to it, you get credit for it.

isn’t the topic about one-man guild, why people talk about tiny, small and big guilds again? forumers just cant stick to the topic eh
seriously, hijackers need to stop hijacking every single thread and turn them into a completely unrelated “discussion”, i hope you notice the quotation marks.
to ts, you are asking anet to “scale” (quotation mark again) a group (please notice the bold) activity to be complete-able by soloing. seriously, why do anyone bother to call it a group activity if you can solo it

We are rolling out a beta version of a 64 bit client today if all goes well – please give this a shot if youre having crash issues and let us know if that does the trick! As a non computer literate person, what does this mean to me?
64bit can use more memory than 32bit, this might resolve some of the gw2 crash issue. Yes, gw2 now using more memory than before. What happen to game optimization?!
Wat.
You do realize utilization is a core of optimization? If a program is only using half of the available resources and suffers because of it, its poorly optimized.
For anyone curious, the 64 bit client will have NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER. UNLESS you have more than 4 GB of memory. This is because with 32 bits, you end up with 4096 available memory addresses, whereas with 64 bits this is increased exponentially into the billions of GB range (meaning computer can use as much as it wants).
Where will this be good?
In any situation where the program hits that memory cap, meaning:
WvW zergs
Meta events
It should run better in more intensive areas in general.
So Colin, can we ever expect DX11? :P Would be nice to play the game running off an API that isn’t roughly 13 years old.
with virtual memory, all computer hav more than 4gb memories. the only restrictions will be windows x86 or x64
they didnt optimize the usage of cores and now using more memories with some fps drop _

Faster yes, but smaller guilds are the backbones of any MMO because that’s how most guilds starts out. If it weren’t for the small guilds, the large guilds wouldn’t be there. That’s why it’s important to encourage guilds to be established, and having a balance on things the guild can acquire.
Look at World of Warcraft per example. They made Guild levels and gave Guild perks in form of rewards, spells and other assorted things. It was in short a disaster, levelling a guild to 25 (which was max level) took a lot of members a lot of effort, and the perks given were very good (such as reputation gain, gold gain and dungeon badge gain). This led to smaller guilds more or less being demolished and left in ruins, no one joined a guild that weren’t level 25 and had all the perks and the smaller guilds just went out because they couldn’t recruit new members. On the other hand, the larger guilds became filled up, and maxed out the number of people it could hold (900 ish) and making them unmanageable. Blizzard realized their folly in this and have since removed guild levels and guild perks.
So having a balance in perks given to guilds is and will always be a tricky balance. If the guild hall is in such a nature that it becomes impossible for smaller guilds to get it and maintain it, then there’s an issue at hand. Especially if what the guild hall provides is something that the guild members want. What we get is the same situation as with Blizzard’s Guild levels.
I don’t think the small guilds (which are still seeking for growth) are what we are discussing here, I think the small guilds in discussions are guilds that intentionally restrict themselves to a specific social circles like families, real life friends and etc.
Don’t agree on that one, a small guild is a small guild, and there are a whole lot more of the small guilds that try to grow and keep afloat than small guilds restricted to a specific social circle.
And as such, any restrictions that hinders a guild to live up to expectations is inadvertently damaging the creation of new guilds. The big builds will one day crash so it’s important that there are new guilds to pick things up.
However, how many posters here are talking about upcoming small guilds and not guilds that restricted to specific social circle?
In many other threads, a lot of discussions about small guilds are about guilds that restrict to specific social circle and not growing small guilds. I think this must be made clearly because both have different rate of progression. A growing small guild will never remain small forever, they will eventually pick up speed. However, a small guild that restrict to specific social circle will remain in that circle size for a very long time. So, is the guild hall’s cost going to adapt to a growing speed of a guild or a guild that will remain small for very long term? Yea, I am talking about the details now, not the general overview of things.
I’m referring to the OP though which specifically mentions the predicament in which I’m also addressing.
A small guild won’t eventually grow big if the restrictions are as they are in futures the Guild members are looking for. I’ve been on both sides of the fence in WoW, in 2006 I was part of the officer ranks that worked to expand a fairly small guild on a rather dead server (WoW doesn’t have a mega server structure). We managed to grown quite some throughout the time. Then some years later (2011-2012 I think it was), the Guild levels were introduced. At that time I was on another server, helping on establishing another guild. This server was fairly active and had a lot of potential members. However the guild didn’t manage to grow at all, all the members asked for was the Guild level, and when told the guild was newly started, refused to join. This because the guild levels came with some significant perks. We kept at it for around a year or so, with no visible progression in guild recruitment.
So a small guild won’t eventually grow bigger, if what the members are looking for is unobtainable by a smaller guild.
If the case is that people are looking for a guild with a guild hall and won’t join a smaller guild, then the guild hall and its progression is in fact having a detrimental effect on guild recruitment for smaller guilds.
So, basically, you think that new guilds will have difficulty recruiting because players will prefer a fully upgraded guild. I can understand that worries but you also forgoten this is gw2, not wow. New guild very first problem is not the lack of upgrades but rather, the lack of activeness. Now, o create a guild at this point of time (3 years into the game) will require the help of several very active players to ensure the guild to be active at the specific prime time, simply because there are more people who join and stay in a guild because of the activeness than people who join for upgrades. Honestly, why do you want people who join for upgrades to be part of a important stage of the guild?

Ermm….. Thus, there should be WvW obtainable-only items, for fairness sake. WvW players are capable of playing PvE but not the other way round.
Because running after the commander tag in a giant zerg is hard? :P

As always it’s getting that balance that’s difficult. Either it becomes too easy for larger guilds to rush through everything, or it becomes difficult for smaller guilds to accomplish. That’s the nature when you’re having a feature like this. Striking that perfect balance between member contribution and guild size, now that’s the holy grail.
It will never be balanced that way, larger guilds will always get things done faster, the sacrifice the larger guilds had to made is the problems that come along to become a larger guild and maintaining it. That’s how it balance out.
The material costs are most likely not only balanced in term of what many keep saying, guild size. It is also to control the market and keep certain materials’ stocks in check while ensuring that it takes months to complete so anet is less pressured to release contents at faster rate.
Team as in party? That’s a useful information.
I remember seeing maguuma music upgrade somewhere, I am not sure.
We did a guild organised Dragon Stand event last saturday for fun.
Anet mentioned that they are working on a larger arena.

For guilds that play WvW the guild hall is critical to their success in WvW. All of the guild “buffs/enhancements” that WvW guilds had before HoT were reset to zero, nada, square one. The tiers were mixed up, new stuff was added. It’s “one” of the reasons there have been so few people in WvW since HoT release. Guilds are grinding and farming their kittens off trying to regain everything that was reset. The costs are immense and daunting! There has even been a possible oversight of removing an area of the game that contained the ONLY place one certain item (required for guild hall upgrades) dropped.
Just to get back +5 buff requires a lot of work and time which is daunting when we had this and more as a smallish WvW guild before the expansion. Due to the structure of the upgrades we have to build things we really wouldn’t want otherwise, such as a tavern, just to get what we need.
While I love the concept of the tavern attracting NPCs for other upgrades the lack of flexibility for guilds to focus on what they want to do first and in what order is disappointing. The guild I am in has done a great job so far working towards getting back our WvW buffs and the ability to claim structures again. We’ve pulled together as a team to try and get some of our WvW functionality again (which is awesome!) but it feels like WvW players are no longer being nudged to spend time in PvE, we’re being forced to do PvE if we want these WvW based guild benefits again (which is not at all awesome).
My disappointment and frustration isn’t about the fact that guild halls are clearly a long term investment and goal. It is about, once again, a rather obvious disconnect with and disregard for those players who prefer the WvW end game. Such oversights as the heavy supply bags and WvW daily options that use the removed alpine borderland map are just the most recent examples.
Ermm….. Thus, there should be WvW obtainable-only items, for fairness sake. WvW players are capable of playing PvE but not the other way round.

Base the costs on the capacity of the guild. Start guilds at 10 people with upgrades for 50, 100, 250 and 500. If you upgrade your capacity, you lose access to whatever, but are discounted what you’ve already paid. Basing the costs on zerg guilds is silly. It’s the zerg guilds that should be heavily punished.
Ermm…..
So the large guilds are supposed to be punished or heavily taxed for the works and dramas they had to go through to become large. I see, sounds fair.
On a side note, which part of it is fair if a guild that paid lesser can get to access the same amount of things as a guild which paid more? In reality, a lot of things can be fair while a lot of things can also be unfair. However, a rule remain, a small factory can only produce a limited number of things while a large factory can produce a larger number of things. If scaling had to be done, it has to be done with this rule in mind.
You need to take a math class
If you have 300 members donating materials, the cost for each memeber will be very low compared to if 10 members of a guild must donate the same things. Add to that the 300 members will be able to finsih most things in the guild hall within a month or two (guilds already have gvg arena) whilst small guild with 10 people looking for a year or more with nonstop farming materials and not playing anything else.
There has to be a way to make it worth while for both big and small guilds. I don’t know how it would work, maybe make it about kapacity, as in active members. If you want to add more active members that can use the guildhalls, then you have to add more donation to add the new limit. This way you can scale how much it cost and add more if you want to have more active memebers being able to join in.
I think you need to do a reality check. You have taken for granted that every single person in a 500 guild will donate, likewise, every single 500-guild has 500 active people. Theory and in practice are very different things. You might think theoretically, scaling is fair but reality is, it will never be fair because not everything will behave like what you think it will.
Indeed, you can make a guild with any numbers, however, it also means that by choosing to remain small, you are limiting yourselves to certain contents and in this case, guild missions. You can call the people who argue or are against your opinions white knights but do be aware that I, myself, is against the opinions in this thread because the suggestion given involve scaling and scaling itself is unfair to all bigger guilds, this include guilds that might be big on the roster but small in active level.
Honestly, if every single person in a 500 guild donated, it wouldn’t even be considered a challenge.
Btw, this is taken from a interview with anet. Given this statement, unlikely they will make further changes.
Our goal was to ensure we didn’t really need to tweak any major game system again after this expansion and our focus could be entirely on adding new content,
You might wanna go read the latest Colin state of the game posting… iirc he is already telling us they are going to be more a lot of tweaks and rebalances etc on a regular basis going forward .. once again your info is very questionable.
I think you are arguing for the sake of arguing and enjoy twisting words. Your arguments in many of your posts have very little logic behind it and is fueled with emotional speech. Balancing and modifying major game system are two distinct things. Major game systems are like guilds, wvw’s new map, the skills tree system etc.
