Everyone who supported this game since day 1 deserves a FREE BIG GIFT from Anet for their patience and to still be here.
How are you more “Entitled” to a big free gift if you don’t buy Gems, over someone like me who does spend real money buying Gems?
Even if you don’t personally agree with this, paying customers will always be far superior to non-paying customers (in terms of profit and cash flow). It’s the circle of life. A business lives only when there’s a stream of revenue. When a business stops making money, they close.
I already paid for this game. I’ve said that already.
You paid once. I paid multiple times, and get free extras as thanks. No problem there.
Again we hear the arguments like being “betrayed” or “forced to buy Gems”. I still don’t understand how one person can be mad that Anet is offering bonuses for buying Gems. The OP has yet to justify how a company is wrong for offering free items as an incentive to players for making a purchase.
This argument, no matter how you look at it, has no merit. The option to buy Gems will always be there. The Gem Store will always be updated. The only difference in December is that you get free extra goodies with a monetary transaction. Each and every way you look at it, the players benefit greatly. There is no single negative aspect to this deal. If you can’t afford it, or don’t want to buy, then don’t.
Saying you’re Entitled to free stuff now, because you bought something in the past, is a weak argument. It’s like me saying that when I bought a laptop from a company 5 years ago, so I should get another laptop for free since I supported them in the past.
Look i understand Anet needs to make money, but denying a portion of it’s player base from ever being able to receive an item, that another player can easily buy with $50 is not good for it’s business model. It really is one step closer to those pay to win korean mmorg’s where you can only get certain items by paying cash. I refuse to play these types of games, and the reason i play GW2 is because i can exchange gold for gems to get items from the shop. If Anet continues making items unobtainable to players who don’t buy gems, then i’ll have to conclude that this game isn’t for me.
I don’t care if this minipet cost 4000 gems in the cash shop, if there isn’t a legitimate way to achieve this item through the actaully game Anet has failed a large part of thier player who do not buy gems. We paid for this game too, and denying us content is not a good step for the game to take.
Again, this argument is without merit. A business has every right to dictate who can get free promotional items. If they decide to reward loyal paying customers for their purchases, non-paying customers cannot ask for the same. Why do you think frequent shoppers of a store would be offered unique discounts in the real world? It’s because they spend money to keep the business going, and special offers rewards them for their transactions.
If you truly want an item, you must abide by the requirements. That said, because this is an optional luxury item that has no effect on the game, players aren’t forced to buy into the deal. If you’re a player that doesn’t buy Gems, you can still play the game the same as if you didn’t have the bonus item. A promotional offer doesn’t change your game play at all.
The reason is because the map has dynamic events running. If a Waypoint is contested, that means there’s an event in the area, where enemies have taken it over. It’s your job to save the day, and rid the WP of enemies, so that other players may once again use it.
I am not acting like it’s universally tasteless and trashy. It is universally tasteless and trashy.
The fact that a female human character has to run around shooting arrows, slashing with daggers or throwing granades while half her underboob is hanging out from her armor, is not only trashy but also degrading to women.
There are many girls in my guild who play this game. Each one of them has a female human character with this armor. Why? Because it’s one of the best armors available.
Not sure how it’s degrading to women, when they’re the ones who like this. Perhaps the armor is too expensive for you?
Again we hear the arguments like being “betrayed” or “forced to buy Gems”. I still don’t understand how one person can be mad that Anet is offering bonuses for buying Gems. The OP has yet to justify how a company is wrong for offering free items as an incentive to players for making a purchase.

Why so much hate for one of the best armor sets available in game? If you can’t appreciate well done art, you can always gear yourself with something cheaper, as there’s always T1 and T2.
If you’re in no rush, you can farm Silver Doubloons from the Jumping Puzzles in Lion’s Arch, with a character around lv 21.. If you want it right away, you can buy all the materials on the Trading Post.
Everything in WvW from WXP and rank chests don’t really benefit you in PvE though. You’d be better off using the world exploration example.
You get money + items, with a chance that you get an Ascended weapon box or gear. I’m sure PvE players would benefit greatly.
Why are we being almost forced to craft in this game? Yeah u might one lucky ascended drop but it might still have the wrong stat combo in it. And now that ascended armors are coming (which require crafting too.), it starts to actually affect the gameplay with increased stats. I think none should be forced to craft to get the best items and there are ALOT of people who hate crafting from the bottoms of their hearts. Especially as a dedicated WvW player its really hard to acquire this gear (as i stated above no drop is not guaranteed way to get it.).
E: By forced crafting i mean its the only reliable way of getting it.
!!! im not heavy PvE player !!!
I could also say “As a PvE player, I don’t like being forced to WvW to get WXP and WvW Rank Chests”.
It’s the same argument as yours, just different context.
…PS increasing something like .0000001 to .00000012….
That’s a 20% change. I don’t understand your simile.
And this is a double standard. You expect players to be respectful of the ArenaNet team, and yet you are very fond of being snide and rude to players. Every post I have read of yours is just dripping with condescension and an air of superiority. I understand you are a very bright individual, but that doesn’t give you the right to treat others disrespectfully (even if you veil it). Honestly I think you owe Essence Snow an apology.
No. An assumed 20% increase in drop rates means 20% more Precursors in the game. How is questioning this increase disrespectful in any way?
Wait a minute… are “Kraits” the new “Quaggans”?
I’m glad that Cranked and I aren’t too far apart in our arguments. And I do hear what Behellagh is saying. However, I’m speaking from a business perspective. Having studied and getting a degree in Marketing, I’m keenly aware of the pitfalls of a poor business decision.
There are not many ways for a company to both satisfy 100% of their customer base, and be profitable at the same time. In order to draw people in, a business will offer some type of promotion. And there’ll always be the customer who gets upset over promotional offers. I’ll give you my own personal example. I bought a new car for my wife a few years back. Later, that same car went on sale for $1,500 cheaper, plus some extra accessories. It was only a couple of months after the fact, but still, I was mad. Had I waited, I would have saved a lot of money. But hindsight is always 20/20. Sure I could have saved money if I wait, but I can’t see the future. And as with all things, there’s bound to be sales or discounts on stuff you buy.
So with Anet, if they hear negative feedback for offering an exclusive mini at a Gaming Convention, that only a very tiny percentage of the population can get, they need to rethink their strategies. So by now offering it to everyone, on the condition that you buy Gems, this opens the door for not only increased sales, but also a way to satisfy the upset customers who thought they could never get the mini in the first place.
Side note – Selling and buying the mini’s code on Ebay is a breach of the User Agreement. So people who actually paid big money for it shouldn’t get mad, since they’re lucky to still have their accounts.
You have no proofs nor any hints whatsoever that this will happen.
The mini was most likely made available this way due to the outrage about it only being available at cons.
How does this in any way or form even hints at starting a new thread where they will add armors and weapons exclusively this way?I would say: If you accept the way they do it, then you will see it again.
That’s the way ANet and many other companies work.I don’t have proof yet, but I see the chance and that is bad enough.
Don’t you wonder why isn’t it on sale for 1000gems? Then buying 4k would really make sense. You would fee that you get 5th k gems for free. Yet, for miniature collectors they force them to buy gems. Also they way they make you buy gems in the worst possible month is very, very bad.
They used to give a free gifts for those who purchased gems before in brackets form last giveaway to the next one.I’m sure there are many people who bought gems in last 3-4 months and if they want the mini now they need to buy next 4k gems?
That sucks for whatever angle you look at it.
It’s just bad… Totally no respect for customer…
I hope it will stop, but I don’t have any proof it will…
It’s called a promotion. In the real world, you see this all the time if you watch TV. Commercials are a marketing tool to promote products. A marketing strategy to get people to buy a company’s products would be to offer gifts or bonuses to entice them.
Example: Customer A didn’t think about buying Gems, but now there’s a really good offer. Buy Gems, and get a free bonus, but only if you make the purchase within a limited time frame. There’s now more value to Gems, since you get the same amount for the same price, and extras on top of it.
If you don’t like something, you don’t have to buy it. No one is forcing anyone to make a purchase they don’t want. Why is this so hard for people to understand?
I actually like Scarlet. In fact, I’ll love any character Tara Strong voices… even if it were Trahearne.
Wait, isn’t Winter-een-mas just the last few weeks of january?
I don’t think Ethan plays GW2. Tim Buckley said last year that the game is good, just not his preference. But don’t let that stop you from celebrating with us!
I hope Scarlet makes her usual appearance to spice up the workshop. She is best pony!
I hope Krait comes back. Krait is most entertaining.
Krait as playable race confirmed…. because Danicia likes them. :P
Perhaps it’s because you make a reference to two religious figures within the same name.
The argument at hand is the fact that some players are saying they are “forced” to do something. No one is forced to do anything. If you want the mini, the option is there to get it. So then if that same player decides not to buy 4k Gems to get the bonus, that’s their choice.
The mistake you keep making is that you think players who “need” to have it, have no choice but to pay the $50 for Gems. That’s is incorrect. There is a choice. Anet isn’t to blame here. It’s the individual players who have a compulsion. They’re compelled to buy it for whatever their reason are. It’s these players who I feel should get some professional help outside of the game. Be it OCDs or an addiction to collecting everything, if they’re forcing themselves to do something they don’t want to (i.e. spending money), you can never blame the company that’s providing the object of their desires.
Is it the Vegas Casino’s fault that someone is addicted to gambling? It’s it Mattel’s fault if a customer spends all their money collecting Barbie dolls? And is it truly Anet’s fault for offering an optional virtual item that doesn’t affect the game in any way?
Will Scarlet be playing a major role, or will she take a break for the holidays?
Answer – Legendary weapons will always be the highest stat gear in the game. It will never be any higher than the highest tier available.
No one is “making” you buy the Gems. The individual player who wants the bonus makes the decision on their own accord.
Did I not clearly say that in my post? Of course they are not forcing you to do anything. They are making it so the only way to get something in game is to spend real life money and this is the first time (that I can think of) that they are doing so. That is what the OP was trying to say.
Here’s what you said:
What I was agreeing with is that this is the first time anet is actually making you spend actual money to get something in game.
If a player wants the item, they will make that decision, not Anet. Players who complain can’t point fingers at or blame Anet for anything.
There are two things that complainers are mixing, “wanting” and “needing”. Ask yourself, do you “want” the exclusive mini, or do you “need” the exclusive mini. If it’s “want”, then the player will make the decision based on that. If it’s “need”, then the player needs to explain why they need it, and how it’s Anet’s responsibility to fulfill that need.
No one is “making” you buy the Gems. The individual player who wants the bonus makes the decision on their own accord.
I want to close permanently my account

I have to say, this is the most polite “I quit” thread that I’ve ever seen. It’s such a shame that someone wants close their accounts, esp. when they ask respectfully. Before the action is permanent, you should consider just keeping the account dormant. That way, if you do choose to come back, you have that option. Closing the account means that if you somehow change your mind later, you have to buy the game again.
I speculated early, so I have enough mats to gear all my characters. My alts are overflowing with Bloodstone, Dragonites, and Empyreals. That feeling when you clear up inventory space next Tuesday…
The chance of me getting a precursor increased by 20%, seems legit. But wait, the chance of me not getting a precursor deceased by what? .00000002/.9999999 about 0.000002%.
What a significantly outstanding change!
If your chances of getting a Precursor were to be increased by 20%, the chances that you wouldn’t get one would decrease by an equal amount.
If they are so common then why are there still complainers?
You must have been a Fire Elemental in your past life.
How do you recommend we fix the problem. One possibility is to remove the tax make the exchange rates equal. 7g=100 gems and 100 gems = 7g. Would that be sufficient?
Edit: This may not be viable, simply because people may use gems as an inflation hedge, knowing that they can get them back with no loss. Also speculation may cause pretty wide fluctuations in price. But the gap may be narrowed to 15% or 20%.
The day the exchange rates are even both ways, is the day the economy breaks. If you think item speculation is bad now, just wait until you see what happens when investment players start playing the Gem currency market.
This is why you need to do research before making a major purchase. If you intend on spending 700 Gold for something, it’s always good to understand how the market flows. You shouldn’t just go out and drop the money like it was nothing. Slow down, and take the time to look at everything before pressing that Buy button, or the Exchange Gold → Gem button.
It was stated in the beginning that weapon skin promos for 1 ticket were temporary. If you wanted it for the discounted price, you should have taken advantage of it sooner. Also, Anet now allows us to sell the skins on the Trading Post, thus eliminating the need to play the RNG game.
So saying stuff like “I have decided to not give a penny anymore, until these crazy grinding amounts are fixed”, without knowing that a fix was already done, only serves to make the whole argument moot.
I disagree. Buying gems with gold has been a feature of the game since its inception and may have influenced some folks decision to buy the game. How do you distinguish features that are graciously provided, and therefore shouldn’t be complained about, and features that are ok to complain about?
I personally don’t have much of an issue with the exchange rate, but I don’t begrudge the folks that do the opportunity to give their feedback on it if they do it constructively.
They put in a system that allows you to convert the time you are already spending enjoying the game into gems, which you can then use to acquire FREE items that normally cost money.
No matter what the conversion ratio of time to gems is, you are getting FREE things. For FREE.
FREE.
Complaining about the rate at which you are gifted FREE things is abhorrent behavior, even for us arrogant Americans.
I think the complainers not only want it for free, but they want to be rewarded extras for using the free service.
But as for the stereotype about Americans, I think Entitlement is something that transcends borders.
What If I have 4k gems on me and I don’t have a thing to spend them on?!
I need to but another 4k for an item I can’t get otherwise?!
(Next time it easily can be an armor or weapon)
Great policy!
Simple. Don’t buy the Gems if you don’t need them. What’s there to argue?
And if you just want the mini, you buy the Gems to get the bonus. Again, simple. At that point, it doesn’t matter that you can’t use the Gems, because you would have made the choice to buy them. Thus, everything works out.
But, what does it say?
It says people should have voted for Evon Gnashblade. Then we’d have an epic Fractal, plus other discounted Gem Store goodies.
Also, Thief Spear has an attack called “Nine Tailed Strike”… not EXPLICITLY related, but… it’s something?
Nine Tailed Strike is a reference to the “Cat o’ nine tails”, which is a type of whip used by the British Navy as punishment.
If they do increase prices then let those who purchase gems with real money get more bang for their buck by giving bonus gems or giving us more gems when we purchase gems using real money. Inflation of gold in game has increased dramatically, and yet the amount of gems we purchase using real money is still the same and yet gem prices for items has increased. It makes me NOT want to use real money to buy gems.
You realize that the value of in game Gold, and buying Gems with real money are two completely different things. It’s like saying “the sky is blue, because snow rabbits are white.”
In any case, Anet is already offering bonuses for buying Gems with real money. It’s just that the bonuses are items rather than more Gems.
But having a limited amount of Precursors drop is a statistic. Asking that something extremely rare to drop commonly because you want it badly is borderline Entitlement. Then the item in question is no longer rare. So if that’s the case, why have anything rare or unique going forward?
One of the reason why certain items are highly desirable is because it’s rare. Take away the rarity, you take away the desire to have the item.
But the second step made me to write about it.
Making people who support the game and gather those special minis (fortunately I’m not one of them, but still…) to buy 4k gems in order to get 1 mini that most likely they miss is like kicking someone below his belt. The second you suggest they are making anyone buy anything, you no longer have any credibility.
He didn’t say Anet is making people collect minis. He is suggesting that it’s not a good idea to make a certain collectible only accessible through spending money on gems (a considerable amount if i might add) or getting lucky and receiving one at gamescom/buying on ebay.
Jeez, is today ‘bad reading comprehension day’?
No one is forcing these players to have to get the mini. It’s a bonus. If you want it, you buy Gems. If you don’t want to buy Gems, or can’t afford to, that’s ok. The game doesn’t revolve around the ability to make microtransactions. You paid for the game once, and aren’t forced to pay month subscription fees. You get new content every 2 weeks. Not having a special mini pet won’t stop you from playing the game.
…PS increasing something like .0000001 to .00000012….
That’s a 20% change. I don’t understand your simile.
John strikes again.
And don’t forget that the prices are set based on cash not exchanged gold. So the question should be is $6.25 too much for a helm?
If you can get a whole armor set for a $3.75, then hell yeah it is!
Well, there were threads where people asked to buy armor pieces separately and said they were willing to pay more for the individual pieces. I guess ANet reads the forums also.
Except the helmet isn’t part of a set and people were suggestion selling single pieces of a set for ~200-30 instead of 800 for the whole thing, not 500.
ANet doesn’t have to follow the ideas exactly. If people say they are willing to buy individual pieces and pay extra for it, ANet can then take the idea and do what they like with it. They can change it to selling individual pieces that are not part of a set and charge whatever they think the market will bear. They don’t have to use the prices that the threads suggest.
You are completely missing the point. People were suggestion the option to buy single pieces, no matter the price. These skins are individual only without a corresponding set.
It’s still an individual piece. It doesn’t matter if it’s part of a set or not.
To the guy keep complaining for more free stuffs (or perhaps what he/she wanted is 4212157834532131456240673463464 free gems since he’s been playing for a long time and never spent money to buy gems to support Anet? lol):
Anet already rewarded their players with the birthday pack for each character that’s been created for 1 year.
1 year is a long dedication, you know.Geez, what else are you asking for? Free 15846073234436230634060234636346 gems every month? lol
Some people just feel Entitled to free stuff. But that’s ok, since it’s part of human nature to want things. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting freebies, taking these complaints to the forum does cross the line for some people.
they add a new Zone to Level from 30-50 called the tenguzone for that reason all your character will be reseted to lvl 30. You can’t use your gear anymore till your 80 again HF!
If it lets me play as a tengu in the future, I’d take that hit.
I’d be ok with resetting to lv 1 if I could play as a quaggan!
After that post the Mystic forge rates on precursors were increased. We’ve moved into more longterm plans for precursors (we’re still watching), as you know, but that promise was upheld.
It makes me pine for a streak-breaker mechanic like the Pristine Fractal Relics:
If each combine of 4 exotics (or 3 and a mystic stone) also returned a “Zomorros’ treasured shiny” and you could spend 250 of them at the Mystic forge vendor to buy the precursor of you choice, this whole process would be a LOT more satisfying.
If you’re planning to drop 1,000 Exotics (or 750 with Mystic Stones), you might as well just sell them to buy the Precursor of your choice. But implementing a system like this might actually increase costs across the board, as Exotic values would go up in anticipation of people buying them to forge.
What I am saying, is Anet doesn’t personally reward you for playing their game. Not just Living Story, but the game in general. Anet doesn’t recognize dedication to the game or the hours you have spent in the game or anything you have done in the game.
1. If I level up to a certain level, if I finish a map – I get a letter. My progress gets rewarded, even if its a bot.
2. My dedication is rewarded with loot, rank, so on.Why should Anet thank me for playing their game or reward me for it? I do it for fun, it’s not work, were I want something in return.
What you want is like being in a football team and everytime I catch the ball, the coach and everybody around me comes to thank me for catching that ball/playing football.
Again, you don’t get it either.
What you are doing is meeting a requirement for a reward in the game. You don’t get something unless you complete a certain kind of content to get that reward. It is not a personal reward from Anet themselves, it is the basic requirement that you must meet to obtain a reward in any video game. The game itself is programmed to give you a reward as long as you meet the requirements for said reward. That has nothing to do with what I was talking about.
Look at it like this. It’s been over a year since GW2 has been out. Since then, Anet has sent out several personalized messages to players who have bought gems. These messages are thanking them personally for giving them money and are rewarding them with a gift in the process to encourage them to give Anet more money. Here we are again with Anet giving out a reward to people who give them more money, a mini pet for buying 4k gems.
What has Anet personally done for players who haven’t spent money, but are dedicated to the game still? Nothing. I’m not talking about all the content they release for free or any of that. That is for everyone to enjoy, gem buyer or not. I’m talking about what Anet has done personally for them. They have done nothing. They don’t care that you play the game. They only care if you are buying gems. And then they will show you personal recognition. Otherwise you’re nothing.
Is it so bad to ask for Anet to reward those players for once? For their dedication to the game? Or do they have to give Anet money in order to get any personal recognition for playing GW2?
See below:
So let me try to understand your thought process. You think it’s a bad thing for a company to reward customers who spend a lot of money at their store? If I bought $1,000 worth of Gems, and the next player didn’t buy anything at all, you think we should be treated equally?
In the business world, the company has one main goal: to make money. In order to reach that goal, they must cater to their customers. One strategy is to entice new customers with bonuses so that they spend money. Another strategy is to offer freebies as a “thank you” for the customer’s purchases, as this gesture will hopefully lead to continued sales/microtransactions.
So back to what I said earlier. You have one type of customer who spends money, and one who doesn’t. Any business owner will tell you that while all customers are important, the ones who spend money are far superior.
But 500 Gems isn’t expensive, especially if you can convert in game currency for Gems. At that point, it’s basically free (from a real money perspective).
45 Gold for a Helmet with no stats is VERY expensive. Unless you’re loaded with gold, spending 45 gold on a helmet is crazy. Even Tier 3 cultural helmet being the most expensive in game is only 20 gold. Spending 45 gold on one piece of armor is not justifiable unless its some ascended piece of armor, which in this case it’s not. Especially since you can get a whole new armor set from gem store for roughly 72 (converted “free”) gold total. What I’m saying is that Anet is starting to become very greedy with the prices in gem store. Notably because it’s only one piece of armor compared to a whole set that can be bought for not much more. And they’re getting into a rythm with that single armor piece “sales”.
Yes it’s true that if you don’t have money, then it would be expensive. But take heart in knowing that not having the new hoodie doesn’t affect your game play one bit. If you feel it’s not worth 500 Gems, that’s your own personal opinion, and you can refuse to buy it if you choose. Players who can afford it will be able to enjoy their new cosmetic item, but still play the same before they bought it, and after they bought it.
I’m talking about an overall reward for being a dedicated player, not an item given to you for grinding achievements on your own.
Haven’t you noticed? Every time they do these rewards for players, it is only for the players that spend money? All the mail messages they send out to random players that reward them for buying gems? Now we are being rewarded again for spending even more money on gems. We are only getting rewards directly from Anet for giving them money.
They don’t send out a message saying “Thank you for playing GW2. We appreciate your dedication to the game, and as a token of our thanks, please accept this gift. We hope you continue to enjoy playing our game.”. They only send out messages that say “For your dedication of giving us money, take this gift. We hope you keep giving us more money in the future.”. They don’t recognize those that are playing the game, they just recognize those that are giving them money.
So let me try to understand your thought process. You think it’s a bad thing for a company to reward customers who spend a lot of money at their store? If I bought $1,000 worth of Gems, and the next player didn’t buy anything at all, you think we should be treated equally?

So back to what I said earlier. You have one type of customer who spends money, and one who doesn’t. Any business owner will tell you that while all customers are important, the ones who spend money are far superior.
It doesn’t cost any real money to convert in game Gold to Gems. That said, if you do spend real money to buy Gems, you get a bonus if you buy enough.
This is a promotion. It’s no different than a company offering $2,000 cash back if you buy their new model truck, or a store offering “Buy 2, get 1 free” deals.
I’m with you on that 100%. That all fine and well. My point was that the prices of gem items are increasing and quality is diminishing. That what should have been his argument. Not a promotion.
Then what I would recommend is that people who convert Gold -> Gems should watch and wait. Then the exchange rates get too high one way, it becomes tempting the other. There are players who still convert Gems -> Gold, and when they do, the rates for Gold -> Gems goes down.
Ummm. Not sure what you’re getting at. I’m with you on the promotion part, but you lost me with this post.
Talking about the exchange rates of the Gold -> Gems. The more people converting Gold for Gems via the exchange, the more expensive it gets. On the opposite end, rates of Gems -> Gold become cheap at the same time. When more players start converting their Gems for Gold, the rates for Gold -> Gems goes down.
Keep in mind that there are vastly more players who want to convert their Gold into Gems, so prices will continue to go up. This is especially true as the game gets older. The more wealth players generate, the more likely they’ll convert Gold into Gems, regardless of the exchange rates.
But the point I was getting to is that if Gem Store prices are out of reach, players can still convert Gold to Gems to afford items. And you can get more Gems with your Gold as the exchange rates drop.
I wasn’t talking about how expensive gems are. I was referring to how expensive the items in gem store are getting compared to what they used to be.
500 gems for one piece of armor is just plain greedy. 800 gems for a full set is justifiable, but almost that price for just one item? It is just getting out of hand.
But 500 Gems isn’t expensive, especially if you can convert in game currency for Gems. At that point, it’s basically free (from a real money perspective).
It doesn’t cost any real money to convert in game Gold to Gems. That said, if you do spend real money to buy Gems, you get a bonus if you buy enough.

This thread is pure win!
The economy is fine. What you need to do is look at how you play, and what you want to achieve. So if your goal is to be able to buy stuff, you need Gold. Then you have to make the choice to do activities that generate Gold. Run Fractals or Dungeons, kill World Bosses for high end loot, World Completion, WvW, etc.

For the Control panel room, here’s how you should do it:
Two players per side. Each side has a heavy stand on the plate, while the other player fends off attacks. The 5th player, a Theif, Stealths and activates the control panel.
Thieves are the single best profession to have when you roll the Dredge Fractal.
It doesn’t cost any real money to convert in game Gold to Gems. That said, if you do spend real money to buy Gems, you get a bonus if you buy enough.

You’ve had your point with the armors, but unfortunately you base everything on a Mr Sparkles mini. That point in itself is giving players opportunity to get something that till now could only be obtained for hundreds of dollars on ebay. Something like this encourages people to buy gems and use them for their own good, since some of us buy gems on regular basics anyways. Plus, they didn’t have to do anything to begin with to give us any kind of reward for gem purchases.
What should’ve been your point, it should be the new helmet skins that are 500 gems each. For a helm. The first gem store armor sets were 500 gems each. Which was pricey at the time, but they looked pretty cool. Then they came up with 800 gems sets that were fully newly designed giving a fresh feel to your character. Still bit pricey at 800 gems, but justifiable.
Then they took a wrong turn with toxic release and gloves and shoulders for 400 gems each. Two pieces of armor for the price of a full set. Given they look good, but 400 is way overpriced for one piece of gear.
Now… The new helmets… 500 gems each. One piece of gear which some of us have turned off most of the time for the old price of a full set of armor. If it keeps going that way we’ll have boots or gloves worth 800 gems each. And I don’t want to get into the whole debate on how bad of a choice was the last “set” of armors introduced. In my opinion they should’ve taken all of them down and rework each of them to make them unique, not some cheap karma armor with some fire sparkles on it.
