This is why you speculate before crafted gear is released. Did this for Ascended weapons. Did this for Ascended armor. And I did this for Ascended jewelers.
Everyone should go out and buy stacks of Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Then, when prices skyrocket, cash out and use your profits to buy your Ascended armor mats.
amulets is not hard – you get this for laurels and i have on all twinks amulets since months
That’s true. I have over 300 Laurels left, and can afford to get them, but I’ve been saving them for other possible gear in the future. If they made a cheaper alternate to getting the Ascended Ammys, that would prove popular to a wide range of players. And that’s what I’m banking on for my previous mat speculation.
Considering the fact that Ascended Amulets are pretty hard to come by, I foresee a healthy increase in mat prices, should these be made available for crafting. That’s why I began to speculate months ago on Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
The problem most of you don’t see is that impatient players are willing to pay high prices for Silk. There’s more than enough Supply of Silk on the market, because it was so common and useless for the past year and a half. The fact that 300 Silk scraps are now needed to make 1 Damask doesn’t change anything. Silk is still common as dirt.
Once the initial rush of players making their Ascended armor sets settles down, you’ll see prices slowly creep downward. Damask prices have been tanking lately, since Demand has eased a bit, and Supply is increasing daily.
Buy Silk at 15 Copper each.
Sell Silk at 1.15 Silver each.
TP players profit because we didn’t flip for a 10 Copper spread.
Regardless of how many tantrums are thrown by the people who crafted them, more avenues to get the gear will open up, they stand to lose far more than they gain by not opening up ascended gear to WvW players or non crafters, and they have already acknowledged this.
We get Ascended gear in WvW all the time.
As someone who rarely does WvW, can you elaborate on this? Do you mean that playing as normal will get you a chance for ascended armour to drop or is there an option for badges to buy ascended armour?
If you actively play in WvW, you get two chances for Ascended drops. 1) Each time you rank up, you have a chance to get one in the Rank up chest. 2) For each player you kill, you have a chance at loot. Steel chests have a chance to give you a Precursor, Ascended box, or regular Exotic.
So the current meta to farm Ascended and Precursors is to kill a lot of players, over and over and over. On higher tier matches, you have a chance to get hundreds of kills per hour.

People don’t click links, so I’ll quote the Dev:
The Nightmare Ends story instance is a solo instance.
The real question you should ask yourself is: Am I willing to risk getting a perma ban for this?
If you have to ask “Is this legal?”, most of the time you won’t get an answer until it’s too late. But as others have said, it’s up to Anet if they decide to enforce their ToS on you if you get caught.
You can always just buy Exotics from the TP. They’re just as good.
Oh, and sell all your Silk if you don’t need them.
You know how to compete with other games?
Cantha
The official language of the forums is American.
You bring up a good point. There were some players who caused Anet to put a cap on the salvage AP meta, since it got out of hand. In that case, any Gold to AP metas should then be capped. But it would be nice if they brought this out for ever Living Story update.
craft a legendary is not like craft an ascended….
and with armour?
Legendary armor is in the works. People with both weapon and armor will be able to change stats all they want. It’s one of the perks of having the best BiS gear in game.
What about those from bigger servers with players that pays the wvw guilds from other server to migrate to their already winning server to have complete domination.
That is also pay to win.
Pay 2 Win is a business model where the game company allows players to be more powerful in game than other players who don’t pay. Players in game who pool their resources to recruit skilled players is not Pay 2 Win, it’s call negotiations.
Your incorrect usage of the term is like comparing thermonuclear fusion to a beagle puppy.
i was tolking about ascended weapon and armour not legendary….
Legendary weapons have the stats of Ascended weapons. So all you need to do is get a Legendary, and you can select any of the stat combo options in game.
I’ve been thinking recently. One of the main reasons why I got into MMOs all those years ago was because of the subscription-free model of GW1. With other games at the time, you had to pay somewhere around $15 per month in order to have access to a game. This was on top of the box price of games. Now as a Casual gamer, it made no sense to pay money each month, regardless if you played or not. It was almost like I would be forced to play, because if I didn’t, the subscription I paid would be a waste.
GW2 followed this model. You pay once for the game, and you can play as much as you want, whenever you want. If you want to take a break, you can, and the account goes nowhere. Casual gamers aren’t hit with reoccurring creditcard charges, and still have access to 100% of the game content from day one. What could be better? How about free content updates every 2 weeks? SCORE! It’s like buying one game, and getting another game for free twice a month.
But wait, GW2 gets even better! There are games where players can pay real money to be more powerful in-game than non-paying players. These games are call Pay 2 Win. GW2 isn’t one of these games, so Casuals will never have to worry about feeling like second class citizens. No wonder GW2 was voted the best MMO in 2013!
Ascended items are suppoused to be and end game goal, but if you want to change build with your “ascended” charter, you have to change your ascended gear with other with other stat. What if ascended gear could give the possibility to change stas…in trade for gold or skill point or other…..that’s could give the possibility to try all build you want….making the the game less grindy and more differentiated. That’s could give me the incentive to craft ascended gear for all my charter.
Nice christmans all!
This option already exists. Just get a Legendary weapon, and you’re allowed to select ANY available stat combo in game.
As expected for an AAA MMO title! That’s why people are taking the oath against subscription MMOs.
No. I have read this entire thread, and I have no more patience for your run-around. I’ve done pay to win games. GW2 has one of the least invasive monetization models I’ve ever seen, period. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Claiming that GW2 is in any way Pay-to-Win is just ridiculous.
This is indeed true. The people who claim that GW2 is Pay 2 Win are the ones who feel they are Entitled to BiS gear without having to pay or put in effort.
But they’ll one day realize that even with all the BiS gear on their characters, you can never buy skill from the Gem Store.
As you can see, Kiel supporters are trying to dismiss the fact that Evon is a hero of legend! His story is told by the fireside, and shared at all moots. The time will come when Evon Gnashblade takes his place as the true leader of Lion’s Arch.
I think I need to quote myself, since there are still players who don’t understand the term Pay 2 Win
The problem with this argument stems from the fact that people who use the term “Pay 2 Win” have absolutely no idea what it means. Just like when someone complains about “manipulators” in the trade forums. It’s just a negative sounding word that they throw around, hoping that one day it’ll make sense to the topic at hand.
It’s so cute to see P2W conspiracy theorists try so hard to push fallacies to justify their arguments, only to see them crash and burn when they get caught in a lie.
I love the Royal Pass and will stock up on them this time, if its a limited offer.
Cant stand the poor people in LA anymore.I heard this is where [HATS] has its weekly guild meetings about what to corner next in the market.
Confirm/Deny?
The last meeting was held on teamspeak.
Occupy the Royal Pavilion! The workers will unite, and tear down the 1%! Long live the Moletar- er, I mean, the people!
We’ll just have the Seraph arrest them all for loitering.
It’s funny that people make such a big deal out of this election. Even months after the election has passed.
When you see a crime happen before your own eyes, you have the moral responsibility to call for justice.

I told you not to poke the hornet’s nest with a stick.
<hides stick behind back>You want an instanced open world area? In other words, you want a private area to play in, one which is void of other players and has a finite amount of enemies.
Guild Wars 1 is still available, and is fairly cheap to purchase.
Just wait. The current dialogue in game hints at some upcoming Living Stories involving the feud between Evon and Kiel. And as you can see, Evon is ever so worried about Lion’s Arch, the city that he helped save.
@OP: /notsureifsrs >.>
That “achievement” is the very opposite of an achievement by any definition I’ve ever seen, and removal of currency from the game, while necessary, is not something that should ever be worth achievement points.
But if you think about it, it’s a great incentive to sink existing Gold. You already get AP from having 200 Gold in your account. So if you have one meta to get players to save Gold, then you should have another meta for them to get rid of it.
KIEL IS A FRAUD
All of her accomplishments, stopping Canach, Saving Lion’s Arch, Protecting the Settlers?
Yeah she DIDN’T DO ONE OF THOSE, those achievements were the work of the players. She stole the credit for our work.
Amen! We must band together and rise against the face of corruption in the Captain’s Council!
Can you imagine the health of the in game economy with more Gold sinks? People willing to part with their wealth can only bring good things for everyone. Stable prices across the board would be a major sell for this idea.
All the fancy stories in the world won’t change the fact that you must confirm the character’s name upon deletion. It sounds like you just have regrets doing this, and are making up fabulous stories to get sympathy for your situation. However, the Support team will most likely say something along the lines of “sorry for your loss, but we do not undo player mistakes”.
…and remember that this isn’t temporary content. Ascended gear will be there one month from now, and one year from now. Casuals have every opportunity to make their own Ascended gear at some point.
I shall be stalking my mailman for weeks, just on the off chance I get one.
Anet won’t change it. The formula on the exchange rates rely on player actions. The more players demand Gems for Gold, the higher the exchange rates get.
Basically, if you don’t have time to play, you’ll be left behind in any game. Besides, the Gem Exchange is there as a convenience for players who don’t want to spend real money on virtual transactions. If the rates aren’t favorable to you, you can always just buy Gems directly with your creditcard or PayPal account. Real money to Gem rates are always the same.
Penguin mate you may be taking this a bit literally here, I think you are equating ‘forced’ to people actually really wanting to do the content. And they want to do it for fun! And have fun doing it!
Nobody is forced to do anything at all, even log in, yourself included, but we do want to do the content because – ‘drum roll’ it is there! No other reason is needed.
And if that content is a massive crazy grind then we can hardly call that fun or even a game anymore.
So you are right that nobody is technically forced, but I think your use of the word forced is incorrect.
When their is only one path to a destination then that is the path you are forced to take to get there. Do you see the difference?
What people are saying when they complain about grind is that they want alternative paths to the same goal that suit their individual play style.
I hear you. But at the same time, realize that if you want something in game, you make the choice to do it or not. The content is there for everyone to do, but the game doesn’t make you have to do it.
If there’s only one path for a reward, and the player really wants it, then the player decides if the requirements for that reward are worth it. Take Legendary weapons for example. That’s the biggest grind in the game. If you want to craft it, you have to make massive efforts to do various types of content multiple times. If you want to buy it off the TP, you still need to make a massive effort to earn enough money to do so.
When a player wants an alternative path, that means they don’t want to put in the effort for the path provided. There can be different reason for this. It might be physically impossible for them to do a required Jumping Puzzle because of a handicap. It might be because they only SPvP. It might be because they just dislike the current path all together. But when you provide alternative paths, each path must fair, so that one is no more easy to do than the other. Otherwise, you invalidate all the hard work a player did on Path A, where someone could stroll easily through Path B.
Now then, regarding Ascended gear, there are multiple alternatives already available. Weapons (and armors?) boxes are rare drops in PvE and WvW. You can get rings as rewards for FotM, or use Relics/Commendations to buy the one you want. You can use Laurels to make a purchase of amulets. or rings. Or you can level your crafting discipline, and make your own gear (hopefully jewelry as well).
The great thing about the current Daily and Monthly system is that you can pick and choose which ones you want to complete. Yeah I didn’t like the daily where I had to use the toxic stones or crystals, so I skipped it.
So if we had some type of Gold for AP meta, players willing to drop money for it could do so, and people who didn’t like it can skip it.
To each his own. Some time turn based RPGs. Some like FPS. Some time real time strategy. Some like action games. Some like sports based games.
If you love MMOs, you should play this game. If you hate MMOs, you should definitely play this game.
Flissy is correct. If you feel spending time with your friends in WvW is more important than Crafting, then by all means play with them. What I’m trying to say is that if you truly want access to stuff available through a crafting discipline, then you must make the effort to prioritize your time further so you can do so.
If you feel taking away time from playing your friends isn’t something that you can do, then there’s nothing any of us can really recommend to help. With limited time to play, you have to make a decision on what you want, and how you want to do it.
What all this comes down to is Entitlement. Certain players feel entitled to the best stuff as soon as possible. So when there’s gated end game content, and the player really wants it right away, they’ll call it a “grind”.
Untrue and you’re just derailing this topic by even bringing this up.
How so? Everything I posted is true and based on facts. If you want something, you put effort into doing/getting it. You make the choice to grind because you want something, not because Anet forces you.
People are blind to the fact that when they suggest that Anet make something easier for them, it’s completely unfair to those who are willing to put in the time to do it themselves. If I can make the time to level my crafting discipline, to gather or buy the necessary mats, and to take the time to do make the daily “T7” Ascended refinements, why should another player be given a free pass to skip all that? What makes one player’s time more important than another’s?
There is no forced grind in this game. If you complain that you “must” grind, that means you’ve forced yourself to do so. Thus if you’re forcing yourself, you can’t complain, since it’s all your choice.

If you want to shortcut the process, buy Gems and convert to Gold. If you don’t mind waiting, you can still get your gear. Basically, if you put in the effort, you get the reward. Sounds like you don’t want to put in much effort due to real life, and that’s fine. Play how you want to play. All Casuals have access to the exact same thing Hardcore players have.
Try to be in my place . . . i have only 1-1.5 hr daily to play. . . i want to use that time to be in the action . . . WvW., Dueling on the mill, fractals (the only kind of dungeon i like).
Daily i can do it while playing WvW, fractals, or spvp.
But crafting . . . it is just too much for people like me.
Thanks all for the feed back.
Prioritize your time. You aren’t the only one with a family or real life issues to deal with. If WvW is important to you, then do it. If you like FotM, then do it. If you want to do Crafting, then do it. If you want all of the above, then you need to find a way to make use of the time you have. Do less WvW and FotM, and use the remaining time for Crafting.
Remember, once you level your crafting, you don’t need to maintain it. I would recommend that you consider doing a full day of crafting, just to get it done and out of the way. Then go back to your usual activities.
What all this comes down to is Entitlement. Certain players feel entitled to the best stuff as soon as possible. So when there’s gated end game content, and the player really wants it right away, they’ll call it a “grind”.
Guild Wars 2, to this day, still holds true to their Manifesto. Anet didn’t make a grindy game, but that doesn’t mean they left out the grind completely. You can play this game any way you want, and still have access to the same content, same story. The grind is there if you choose.
One huge mistake these complainers are making is that they feel they can’t live without Ascended gear. In their minds, they’ve convinced themselves that in order to be good at this game, you have to have the best gear. This is completely untrue. You can have max weapons, armor, and all trinkets and accessories, and still lose to another player clad in all Rare level gear. Skill will always hold more weight than gear.
Please note the following: BiS gear should be a goal, not a requirement. If you feel it’s a requirement, then that means you’ve forced the grind upon yourself.
TL:DR: Anet is 100% in control of silk price development.
Anet controls the supply and the requirements for crafting. Players control the price we ask on the TP.
Example: If I wanted to drop the price of my Silk, I could do that right away. My choice, not Anet’s.
If you don’t want or need more Gems, don’t buy them. It’s pretty simple. No one is forcing you to spend money that you don’t want to spend. Just remember that if you choose not to buy Gems in December, you don’t get the bonus associated with it.
Ascended boxes should only drop for lv 80s, since the weapons are all lv 80. At least, that’s how I understand it.
Just level up your toon. That’s the safest bet. We’ve killed Teq hundreds of times, and some of us have never seen a box drop. If you don’t get a box, it’s hard to tell if it was because of bad luck, or because of your level.
I’m still waiting for my Legendary armor. I hope they make a pony armor to go with my pony bow!
Had an hour long SM lord room fight where I got literally 700 kills.
GG.
How many Precursors did you get? I got a Chaos Gun from a YB.
