I prefer a mix of Wanderer’s, Commander’s and a few Sentinel pieces. The extra Boon duration is very noticible. Channeling 18 seconds of might duration, or pumping out protection and stability that lasts longer tends to be quite valuable. AoE Boon stripping is just not that great to counter boons to be honest.
+1 I prefer wanderer’s to soldiers. That extra Boon duration is great

SMH , OP comes back to game and after only 2 days feels he knows enough to post a thread about game balance.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
the problem with some classes and build is that they dont have a unique counter
mesmer counter rev
thief counter mes
thief counter rev
guard counter thief
etc…dh has no unique counter same as druid most fight if they want is stalemate fights
engi used to be stalemate due to its passiveness traits.
ele used to be stalemate and now it balance (but have no other builds to play with)now if there was a counter to DH you would see ppl changing to it when they face one or four
this is the problem
Power Rev can kill a DH. Also current overtuned Druid can kill DH especially meditrapper. Druid uses pet to trigger the traps and then DH has lost a lot of its burst.
Also despite the nerf, scrapper in a team fight destroys DH. Use Elixir Gun 5 and 4 to give AOE retaliation to your team. Then when you see the DH drop his Procession of blades (yes a lot of DH in lower tiers use Test of faith and Procession of blades), the team wide retaliation kills the DH instantly.

Gratz PadreNike. I did some Hybrid PVP this season especially when solo, however if I was duo with a Druid friend I switched to Power Rev because Druid/Power Rev combo is just super strong.

SIGH this is the reason why I play 4 classes in pvp these days. Don’t have to worry about all these whiners who instead of learning how to counter, just QQ’ about every class they have a problem with.
LOL just checked OP post history, Hes a thief main. Now I see the reason he’s whining.
A thief complaining about a class that has hard countered it since the beginning of time. SMH

Definitely recommend you start the time limited stuff earlier. In the beginning everyone voted Capricorn. I didn’t even play every day and only maybe 3-5 matches per day on the days I did play and I finished the achievement a few weeks ago.

Rangers have been the most neglected class in the game since launch. In the past the only attention they received from Anet was NERF’s. Now that people just cant face roll rangers (druids), it’s all QQ. There really is no OP class at the moment, just a few OP skills which most classes have, all of which can be countered if you know the mechanics. As it has been said before, it’s just a learn to play issue.
I’m sorry but rangers have always been top tier in 1v1’s. The problem is in PvP they were having issues during conquest game modes. Instead of helping the class excel in conquest they completely over tuned the 1v1 capability along with giving them the healer role in group fights.
Ranger is a lower skill class that performs too well for what the player has to put in. DH, Scrapper, and Warrior are also in this boat tbh, but this thread is about Druids.
I would personally tie pet damage stats to the actual ranger, and shave 20% off base pet damage. This will make it so if you want your pet to hit hard you have to build glass, but still stop the insane pet burst. I would then remove all stealth from the class with exception to the smoke scale smoke field. Top it all off with a nice nerf to Staff #1 damage.
There fixed.
+1

And remember, give PvPers a good reason to be excited about the league, but one which does NOT involve PvEers having to spend more than a few hours in PvP to get something really cool looking for their character. Whatever reward mechanisms are in place, they should only be things that PvP players would want or need (beyond a small reward designed to give PvEers a chance to try it out).
How about skins that are only vissible in PvP areas?
Just make it a skin and not an actual legendary item and that would reduce the “demand” from non pvp players. Ive said it a million times, one of the biggest mistakes ANET made was making a PVE item as a prestige PVP reward. A Skin would have been much better.

why does everyone keep saying it was 5/6 in the morning ive been playing this game since beta and yes i know the ques will be long but i have never seen it this bad. the fact their was close to 50 other people in the same lobby as me w8ing for ques is silly. and from just where i was stood i counted 4 legendary 7 rubys and 8 diamond but nope no mixed ques you just have 2 w8 till more diamond players come online
Its worse this season compared to what you remember because it is now halfway through season 4. A lot of players already have their wings. The PVE players who already have their wings have stopped queueing. The Legend players are probably bored and have stopped or moved to other games. So what you have left is the ones who really like pvp. In summary you have less people queueing now thakittenmilar stages in previous seasons.

I don’t call that too forgiving they are traits that actually require u to hit somebody get some heals in.
Except for the idiotic thing where if you have a Longbow you DON’T actually have to hit anybody to proc Adrenal Health and Cleansing Ire. Just Press F1 and boom clear condis and get Heals…..
And since LB is meta most warriors are using it.
Yes u do. It’s called AOE. U can kite on the sides of a node, disenage etc.
And boom clear condis is true.
Boom get health is passive level similar to the signet in essence and doesn’t qualify as a burst heal.
Unless its been changed recently you do NOT have to hit anything for Cleansing Ire to proc on LB. This has been the case since at least HAMBOW days. I can be all alone on a side point and drop LB burst and it will clear condis and give me adrenal health with no enemy even remotely near me.
Oh come on man. It’s a kittening bug. It will be fixed. So why bring it up in the first place? for all intents and purposes it doesn’t exist when discussing balance. It’s nothing short of impractical to bring it up.
Sorry dude but I have to bring it up because its been around like FOREVER, And if ANET hasn’t fixed it by now you cannot simply ignore it. ANET has had plenty of balance patches to fix it. Its been mentioned on forums plenty of times and ANET has never ever acknowleged it. So forgive me but it exists, its real, its been here for a very long time. Its very powerful in pvp and practically the major reason why Longbow is meta. So you cannot ignore it.

Necros are the weakest kittening class in this whole kittening game
FOCUS THE NECROS
because they are the easiest to kill first. Has been the motto of GW2 since release.necros are focused not because they’re the weakest…its because they’re the biggest threat…
necros END midfights, a skilled necro (or even an unskilled one spamming blindly) breaks up a stalled midfight where neither team makes much dent beyond maybe getting a target to 50%.
^This. I always call target on Necro first because once they build life force they can be a beast to handle. Take them out early is their weakness.

Sure give Guardians access to another life bar (yay to more HP) and your condis (only having access to fire is so boring and easy to cleanse), then we consider trading you some blocks.
Have your people contact my people to discuss details.
I am sure – and it was pointed out by somebody above – that most necros would happily trade shroud for dh’s blocks any time of the day, same goes for necro’s condi application vs DH’s dps. Deal.
Cool lets ask Anet…because having played guardian since i started the game i would love to have more HP and access to a decent condi spec. The reason why we have so many blocks is because with out them we can be 2 shotted by a power spec class.
You’re right DH definitely needs a huge buff. It’s a vastly underwhelming profession this season. Hardly see anyone playing it and forums are full of people crying about how underpowered it is. Most matches I’ve played, I’ve seen only 2 to 3 DHs per team, tops.????
Dude learn to read please. I said WITHOUT blocks we would be 2 shotted. Since we have blocks we are fine.
When i say i would love more HP and condi that is obviously wishful thinking and in response to Necros asking for more blocks.

I think the passive traits (with skills) need to be completely changed to something new instead of a trait that has been here for over a year without even being noticed lol. But just my opinion. So many easy fixes yet probably never be done sadly. And outrage is a new skill which should prob have a HIGHER cooldown as 10 seconds stun break lol… oh yeah “balance” lol.
Absolutely! A 10s CD stunbreaker?…I see a “little” bias here
I would agree with you there. 15 sec would be appropriate meaning approx 50% uptime on the rousing resilience effects compared to 80% uptime right now.

You should get familiar with few classes if you’re going to play RANKED.
If you want to be mono-class player play unranked.
Really simple – be competitive or be more relaxed.
You know that people can actually know other classes without actually being good at them. Roll the class, plug in the meta build. Spend some time with NPC and beast/lord in HoTM. And you can quickly get an idea of the cooldowns and combos. Even a few unranked matches. That is enough to get an idea for its strength and weaknesses. No need to run them in ranked, especially if you dont like the classes.
They could be Diamond/Legend level on their main class and barely sapphire on others. Does that mean they are not allowed to play?
Most people play games for “fun” and so forcing them to play a class they dont enjoy or care about is not a good strategy.

I wouldn’t mind if it was literally ‘power’ being overtuned, but it’s not
It’s lower CD creep
It’s unpredictable, random condi cleanse creep (plus the ability to easily spec nigh immunity)
It’s massive sustain from one trait in one tree creepThese are not things that vanilla specs need to be ‘brought in line’ with, because it’s not straightforward power creep. These things lower the fundamental reward factor when playing pvp – and their issues are centred around design, not balance.
Power Creep is a not meant to mean “power”, Its describing a generally increase in “strength” of a the class, be it power, condi. CD reduction, passives etc.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Funny how people complain about traps when the best builds use only the heal trap and Test of Faith. A Ranger Pet can trigger the trap with no danger to the ranger. A Minion Necro can do the same. If you see Test of Faith get triggered, pop your stability and the DH cant push/pull you through it.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
This season the Match Maker is trying to create even matches which basically means theoretically there is around a 50% chance of your team winning the match. For this reason it is very difficult to get a win streak going in Solo Q.
Add to this the fact that you can tank your MMR to get easier matches later means you could easily get a person on your team who is intentionally looking to lose the match.
Class achivement requirements also mean that you could have someone on your team who is playing an Alt class which the Match Making system can not take into account when forming teams.
If you actually “forget” about the pips and play for fun (i know, crazy concept to play a game for “fun”) then you will relax more and the pips will eventually come around. You will be less frustrated and enjoy your matches more.

Spartacus.3192, dont mace symbold feels weak due its low cast for a low achieve?
(comparing time that takes to cast symbol and its result).
On full soldiers i dont do damage with symbols and healling :| om symbold was always weak.
Would be to much if mace symbold reduced damage by X% (while guardian in inside offc).
If you pair mace with focus and use Invigorated Bulwark trait. Then you can use Focus 5 while casting Mace 2. The blocks from focus 5 gives you increased healing power. Then Mace 3 was also buffed giving you a hard hitting skill that also gives protection and aegis. Mace 3 will block and the aegis from block also increases Heal Power.
I dont need the symbols for damage i use the symbol boons for sustain since each boon heals for approx 75hp and you get a LOT of boons.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I agree with Brutaly
I like how it is at the moment. I use an Altruistic Build for open world and love the pulse nature of symbols (lots of AH procs).
Also for pvp there is a lot of boon corrupt and boon steal/rip. The ability to pulse boons overcomes that problem.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
i have 2 suggestions.
1. Make Pure of Voice convert 2 conditions and then also have baseline shouts CDs reduced by 5 seconds.
or
2. Make Pure of Voice convert 2 conditions AND also heal with good scaling. In this case do NOT reduce the baseline CD of shouts.
In addition Make Save Yourselves apply self resistance for 3 seconds.
In a nutshell which seems to be in agreement with others have said also.
I use a Pure of Voice, Altruistic Healing build with sword/shield mace/focus for open world HOT maps in Zerk/Marauder gear and its an unstoppable tank that hits hard. With Retreat and Save Yourselves i have perma swiftness and high protection uptime.
If they gave Save Yourselves a few seconds of resistance and some healing along with extra condi clear it would go a long way to making shouts more viable in WvW/PvP
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
i think the idea of buffing shout guard is to make an anti condi bunker that cleanses condis from the whole party viable. at the moment, taking pure voice means you lose out on sustain from symbols or increased healing to allies from force of will, and a shout guard can’t party cleanse as effectively as it can self cleanse.
This^
A medi guard can self cleanse very well. A shout guard is meant to be support for the team but currently pure of voice plus trooper runes is just 2 cleanse. I think with the current cd on shouts it should be 3 total (2+1)

leaderboards can have a minimum number of games before you can be considered (eg 50 or 100). Can have a decent decay where you need to play 14 games in a 7 day period. (eg 2 per day, or all 14 in one day). That will prevent burnout since you can just play a couple days a week and easily get 14 games.

News flash: none of the seasons 1 through 4 have had good MM algo. Each have had faults and deciding which is least bad is a waste of time. Having a grind (pip) based ladder with safety nets is a massive anchor towards having people in their correct position. ANET knows this but cant do anything about till S4 is over.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
i played a game with open world pvp but i hated the implementation because you could attack anyone except players in your party which meant only 5 players were safe from the AOE cluster****. Allowing guilds will improve it a bit but that just means you will have big guilds zerging it and no way for a solo or small groups to join up easily to fight others.
As mentioned by another poster we already have wvw and id rather ANET spend resources fixing the current issues out there.
The GW2 WvW setup is very well done imo. With 3 worlds fighting it over a huge map.

1. Make Rewards be SKINS not actual ITEMS so PVE’ers who dont care about PVP will not be so tempted.

And yet the number of Condi Warriors (in fact any warrior) i see in matches recently is very low. They used to be everywhere, nows it all DH and Druids. In fact i’ve seen more necros than warriors in the past week.
However i do agree both conditions AND resistance needs to be looked at.

Hey,
have some succes with Condi Rev (standard build). Generally I know all combos and how each skill works and when to use it, but still, would like to see opinions of some more exprienced Revs.
First, how often do you use Embrace the Darkness except to proc Inferno ?
I dont, i use Pulsating Pestilence now. I like it better
Personally I’m using it quite often, but I’m unsure if it’s the best energy distribution. If I’m not getting focused in bigger fight I’ll just turn it on for Torment stacks. One can argue that Banish will do more dmg, but unless you land it throu other targets it’s single target juke which is easily dodgeable. Often when there is downed body which I do not intentd to stomp, or if I see thief is going to jump one me (probably with venom or using steal) I turn it on. Also I use it rarely to proc Enchanted Daggers.
How often do you use unyelding Anguish except of map traveling ?
I use in mid fight often
I use it maybe as dmg source on enemies, when i want aoe blind from mace3, sometimes if they dodge axe4, but in bigger team fights I tend to aim it on edge of fight/point, becouse jumping in the middle of everything tends to make me take more dmg than it’s worth.
Do you stomp or rather cleave?
If you have enhanced bulwark you should stomp since its pretty much guaranteed. Cleaving is better for power rev due to the insance Auto Attack damage. However you can you use Shiro quickness and sword auto to do decent cleave
I mostly cleave, unless it’s 1v1 or 2v2 (I never stomp mesmer, thief or ele). Problem is in most scenario’s enemies are able to res throu cleave, I guess it’s just how it works and i have to accept it, nonetheless what’s your opinion?
Do you rather aa with mace or sword?
Sword is better for damage BUT mace has poison on Auto so that useful especially on downed players when enemy is trying to rez (if you want to cleave)
I think mace deals overall more dmg, but most of it comes from Torment, so it can be cleansed.
Soothing Bastion or Enchanced Bulwark ? How much does this extra stab stack matters?
Enhanced Bulwark ALWAYS The extra stab stack guarantees a safe stomp
My first post on gw2 forum, so go easy one me
I know most of my questions depend on situation around, nonetheless would appreaciate any form of advice.

Every time I see 1m+ damage from any profession, it makes me think that the fight’s weren’t that “good”… I rarely hit 500k+ in some wins.
If you end the fight quickly, there’s no need for an absurd amount of overall damage done
^THIS. Whenever i get 1 million damage or more i know the fights just took way too long and/or the match was drawn out as shown above with a 500/400+ score. Usually with a minion mancer in there somewhere.
When i play Power Rev my damage is much lower but my kill count is way higher with faster matches.

From what i recall the time frame was 4 seasons but that there would be a way to get backpiece after that. However, since ANET said they would be revamping the Match Making for Season 5 completely and looking into the skill vs grind factor i believe it will be very different in S5.

It was the length of time he was out of the match. Kudos that you guys won. Means you outmatched the other team by a lot. But generally a DC of that length of time means a loss for the 4 person team. Maybe ANETS thinking is that the win was based on the fact the other 4 players were great and since he was out of the match for a few min his contribution was not the deciding factor.
