Ive said it before and will say it again. The biggest mistake ANET made was putting a Legendary PVE item as a grindable reward in a PVP League.
If they had made it a Skin and made leagues skill based we would be in a much better place.

I like watching individual streamers in pvp. I get to watch their rotations etc and it helps my gameplay. As for ESL matches, i find them boring and especially confusing with all the Point of View changes every few seconds.

Guards are the only class that can currently instant cast traps. Everyone Q.Qs about he traps damage I actually don’t mind it what I do mind is the fact that they can just spam them mid fight. As opposed if they preset them and I ran in and got caught that’s on me but if we’re in the heat of battle and I’m winning the fight and bam instant 3-4 traps and I’m dead from full hp not bc he’s a better player but bc his traps in ally off cd and I’m right on him he wins. I’m all for a reasonable cast time on these even when I’m on my dh I feel the same. I don’t think I should be able to instacast 3 skills at once. Can you imagine an instant cast kill shot or something like it? Ppl would flip yet this has been the norm ever since DH came out and when they did nerf dh it was a lb nerf which I didn’t find necessary instead of adding a cast time to traps. Pls do this Anet. Thoughts?

Adrenal health is their sustain, all you gotta do is not get hit by every burst they land.
You dont need to land every burst. Just1 burst every 15 seconds which is quite easy to do.
arcing slice which is more difficult to dodge but has a windup time that shouldn’t be landing 1/3 of the time since u should be actively dodging/blocking and kiting.
A good warrior should be using Arc Divider which is very very easy to land. It as a 450 range range. When not in berserker mode, they should be using shield bash to set up the eviscerate landing.
Yet you couldn’t even ‘scratch him’? I mean that implies something else right there given warriors don’t run regen or protection boons.
Most power melee warriors i know are running Defender or Durability runes. Defender gives tons of Regen. Durablity gives both regen and protection.

If people think queue times are long in Season 3, just wait for Season 4. A vast majority of players (even casuals) will already have their wings and will not bother with Season 4.
Some players may only need 1 or 2 division crosses and if ANET uses the same placement system as this season where Rubies start in Emerald then those players may only need to play one match to get their division achievement.
I have friends who hated this system but got their wings last season or this season and now have either stopped pvp or are just messing with different classes/builds. This will only get worse next season.

I know right? I started working on them late I played till Emerald in Season 1 because I found the Meta to be very boring, and work got in the way, Last season came around I averaged 5-6 games a night got Diamond, slowed down on pvp this season and know I won’t get them till Next season and it’s perfectly fine. People are just impatient or want to blame others.
I didnt play Season 1. I stopped at ruby Season 2. Its beach season now so i am down to playing maybe 5-6 matches a week (i log in maybe once or twice a week) . Even with a 60% win rate im simply not playing enough games to get my division crosses. But lucky for me i don’t care about the wings. I’m just hoping ANET will come up with a fix (many have been suggested) to give more fun games and a leaderboard more representative of skill.

You are correct OP. If you trait shield master you do not get the regen when blocking / reflecting ranged attacks, instead you get the “reflect” only. You do get regen when blocking melee attacks even with shield master trait. I use dogged march as you stated. Doing that you get the regen from all blocked attacks. Ranged and melee.

I take Shield master. Even if i dont get the regen when blocking i like the reduced recharge on the shield skills. And if you were to calculate what percentage of time you are reflecting missles vs blocking attacks, i would say you are blocking melee more often and then the regen/might stacks pays off.

Here’s my point: The extreme emphasis on team play has created a second skill base in PvP. That is social networking. The game is no longer just about playing a class skillfully. You can be as good as any legendary and be stuck in Amber trying to carry people acting crazy.
Now you need to have friends to do well. PvP has to some extent become a popularity contest. I for one think that’s bad and should be addressed.
That moment when you realise an MMO is a game which has hundreds of other players playing at the same time might actually have a social aspect.
Then you completely miss the point and ask for this social aspect to be addressed.

I personally love defender runes with mace/sh Draining sigil and zerker, thats a very tough build

Use default/basic skin on all gear and weapons, set the title to something low level.
Dont use any colors, just have it standard as kitten.Enjoy!
haha i do something similar when in Troll mode. Basic gear and make sure i have basic Stomp finisher.
When someone asks what build you are running, just say “Dunno, im using the default one the system gave me. This is my first day on this class”

If the design is inherently flawed, nothing you tweak about matchmaking will fix the core problem.
Anet needs to unlink rewards from progression up the ladder, and instead reward players for just participating. That way they can then get rid of the safety barriers so matchmaking can self regulate.
Remove the cross X divisions in season achievements, and change it to more things like “Win X matches on Y map”. Or some other achievement that doesn’t require progression.
Change the way PvP tickets are rewarded so they come from completing achievements or they’re earned by winning each game. So IDK, every 2 games won rewards 1 ticket? Completing the achievement rewards more tickets? Something like that.
Bam. Problem solved. PvErs will still need to play ranked to get the backpiece, but they aren’t forced to progress upwards. They still need to win, but most of the rage from “I’m stick in this division!” should be eliminated because they have no need to move beyond the division they’re supposed to be in.
As long as they win consistently, they will get the rewards.
And then people who actually care about leagues being competitive can still get their badges and titles.
Right now, matchmaking will NEVER be perfect because rewards are locked behind progression. That means every PvE player is out there trying to circumvent matchmaking in order to progress in the leagues. They did this by amber shopping, grinding ridiculous amount of games, anything that lets them move upwards beyond where they’re supposed to be. And safety locks makes it worse so matchmaking can never accurately gauge.
Remove the incentive for them to progress and just simply reward for playing the game /winning. Ideally that means players will settle into one range at a 50/50 win rate and will only move upwards if they improve. And accordingly will drop down if they do poorly.

If i wanted to be cynical i would say seeing your signature you play warrior which has access to a lot of stuns and so you are complaining about DH having “free” stun breaks.

I think despite me being at the highest rank I’ve ever been in three season that the safety nets are a bad thing and should probably be looked at.
Thoughts?
People have been asking for division/Tier safety nets to be removed for some time.
Problem is i doubt ANET will change that till after S4 otherwise people will complain that they can’t get the division crossing achievements (unless ANET removes that requirement)

‘Grrrrrreeeeeaaat’ just got trolled 6 matches in a row, dropped far down the division cause of people score feeding instead of trying to win or cause they spent whole match off-cap roaming not even fighting mostly. and the big daddy the SIXTH match I lost cause a guy logged out RIGHT AT START then never came back, making it a 4v5 WHOLE MATCH.
ANET PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.
If he logged out at start and never came back at least you dont lose a pip and dont lose a win streak if you was on one.

Well seeing as the only thing changed between season 2 and season 3 was the adrenal health buff and in Season 2 warriors were trash and now they’re not, no prizes guessing the answer to your question.

Here’s my suggestions I posted in another thread about MMR.
Untie rewards from division threshold. (PvP tickets and Backpack division crosses mainly.)
Increase amount of tiers in divisions. Reward PvP tickets for every match won, extra on a win streak.
Remove safety nets once reaching Emerald. (Can not fall back into Amber)
Only pick people within piprange of you.
Don’t have PvP ‘Seasons’, have it up as a continuous element of gameplay. Reward on a monthly basis of gold/transmutation charges/titles, depending on your position determines how much/what title if any.Along with those, the Legendary Leaderboard should have a decay in which if you don’t participate you eventually end up at the start of Emerald. Losing X amount of pips per week of non-activity. (basically you fall off the Leaderboard and lower, no one should hover in legendary)

Ok, please take a moment, all of you, just a step back, to see the whole picture, looking at every profession in the game and hopefully realizing the following:
(this applies only for spvp)
- The elementalist has the lowest healthpool and a shared lowest defensive stats in the game.
- Because of the above, we’re NEVER encouraged to go full to average dps when taking on a compentent team, for if we do so, as an average, equally competent player, we get farmed on. why? It’s because
* We do NOT have ANY access to stealth/evades, like the thief.
* We do NOT have the kiting ability of a mesmer (or a thief),
* we do NOT have profession mechanics that enable us to fight IN the heat of the battle, dealing damage and taking hits for the team, like the necro.
* we do NOT have sustain from just pure, base stats like the warrior.
* we do NOT have blocks for days like the guardian.
* And last, but CERTAINLY NOT least we do NOT have anough utility to keep us alive like the current, extremely strong engineer. (No, i didn’t forget the ranger and the revenant, i just don’t know them well anough to give arguments)
For a second there i thought you was describing GUARDIANS. Because the only thing they have is blocks vs your Ele mega sustain.
Everything else you wrote applies to Guardians too, except they are so bad in other ways they are not mandatory in every pro league team like Eles.

Not this season but last one, I was in mid tier Ruby and I as a solo-queuer got into a match with a four-man premade on either side. Basically two solo-queuers were the literal fifth wheel in that game. Was a complete blowout too btw :-)

Most 4 man premades do NOT want to go 5 man premade so generally would not want to invite the “5th wheel”. Being in a 5 man premade means you will never face a team of full Solo Queuers and so will hurt your Q times and pip farming chances.
Which is why you see so many 4 man premades. Its not because they can’t find a 5th players. Its because they don’t want a 5th player.
Oh and yes +1 to solo Q and team Q separation.

True but it is in WvW and between that and boon share mesmers resistance really shows how ridiculously strong it is.
If resistance is brought down a bit, conditions brought down a little too we might have a healthier game. Right now resistance is a bit too strong but there’s also tons of strong things flying around at the moment and classes that can be essentially immune to various aspects of GW2 combat.
This is the PVP sub forum. Post that request on WvW forum and you will see that there is a billion other things wrong in WvW. Durability rune is not even at the top.

I think its a good idea to remove class stacking. It would be hard to implement though because of people switching classes before fights and finding teams when you are duo queuing.
A better idea could be amulet stacking. Only 2 amulets with condi damage in it is allowed on the team. Only 2 amulets with power and ferocity is allowed on the team. Only 1 amulet with healing power is allowed on the team.
No for the love of god leave amulets alone and I agree with the other guy . The no amulet stacking is just dumb. No class stacking I agree with.

Leagues should be:
A) Indicative of skill
B) good high quality matches.Pick one.
The fact of the matter is that you can’t have good quality matches without making division position a farce. Why? Because if matches are equal and competitive then all players regardless of skill end up advancing. To make league position relevant you have to expose bad players to good players and let the pecking order hash out. Which of course creates blowouts.
Anet’s mistake was ditching the late season 1 (post amber-shopping fix) matchmaker. Yeah league position is more skill based than it was in season 1 but the match quality was so much better back then. (well ignoring the bunker shenanigans)
Exactly. Thats the problem. I dont think you can have both. The current system of favoring one team and thereby making the league position relevant is being undermined by the fact that the current system creates pip inflation. If you play enough games you WILL progress and end up in a division that is above your true skill level and you will end up being farmed constantly.

I also agree with Ithilwen.1529 that the wings should be for everyone. I understand the elitist and top tier players claim the wings should not be for everyone but honestly GW2 is casual and will always be casual. If a player is willing to play 300 games, he deserves that backpack no matter which division he is in. PvP is PvP.
This is where i disagree with you. PVP wings should NOT be for everyone. Its a final end game reward for being a good player. Grinders should not be able to get it. Unfortunately the way leagues are currently designed almost anyone can get them if they play enough games.

I posted a suggestion where there would be graded pip/tier/div loss which would be better than now but not completely turn off the PVE grinders. We absolutely need ANET to implement a Tier/Div loss system for Emerald and Higher divisions.
Players should not be able to grind their way to ruby.
I know personally it will make it harder for me to progress but if that means the leagues will eventually match up people of equal skill it will mean better matches for all.

I always felt that retaliation could have been done where it was based on a percentage of damage recieved (affected by power). That way small fast attacks would still be punishing but not as much as now. Slow hard hitting attacks would be higher retaliation damage. You could set it that it only affected a maximum 5 enemies.
If you really want you could put in ICD on it as mentioned by the poster above, you could but i wouldnt want it too large.

some nice ideas but i disagree with the retreat changes. I like the AEGIS and swiftness. We are slow as heck and with the current swiftness plus Pure of Voice and some boon duration i can have 100% uptime on swiftness
