I main warrior myself, just you know.
It’s just funny to see all those people complained about powercreep,overpowered classes and what not else but when their own class gets pushed onto the same lvl. everything is fine and none is allowed to address balance issues simply because warrior was unviable for 2 seasons. Guess what, necro for example was unviable for ages and got nerfed after one season because they were too strong.
By comparing War with Necro (season 2) are you implying that War can now ROFL stomp most people like necros were doing? Will we see 2 to 3 warriors in every ranked team in season 3?
Somehow i dont think so. Warrior is still a very selfish class. It doesnt bring much to the team other than DPS. A rev can do that and bring boons. A thief has DPS and brings mobility.

Yes i did ask him why. The summary was (as far as i remember, Chaith can correct me if im wrong). The best thing Scrapper brought in Team fights was the CC from Slick Shoes and of course Hammer Dazes and the healing from turret.
Slick Shoes is now worthless, hammer daze is now 2 dazes not 3. Healing Turret can now be interrupted much more easily.
So your prediction is nowhere close. Scrapper is not the best in almost every situation. The fact Astral Authority is not running one is clearly an indication that its not Top 5 anymore.
Thief was buffed so now Toker is playing thief and Chaith will play Rev.

This thread is laughably sad.
Warriors were trash tier for 2 seasons. They now get a buff. Season 3 hasn’t even started yet but all i see here is players who used to farm other players who were stubborn enough to play warrior in S1 and S2, now having difficulty killing them.
People complaining about double endure pain like its a new thing. You’re only having trouble now because of the adrenal health healing them a lot during the double endure pain. Also i suspect people have forgotten how to fight warriors or at least got used to ROFLStomping them in the last 2 seasons.
Bring poison and learn to kite a warrior.
Maybe season 3 will show that the regen might need a shave but i strongly disagree in doing that solely based only on unranked performances.

Mesmer still op as hell. Just not God mode that it . Problem is the Mesmer community always complain about their class while they are actually the strongest , you can see that even in the resent balance patch Mesmer actually got buffed now they got some nerf and you can see how many Mesmer complains .

Season 1. God mode Alacrity, unkillable bunker
Season 2. Gets nerfed. Mesmers cry so hard it wakes the dead. Still Mesmers remain god tier.
Pre Season 3 (Every class gets nerfed (war gets buffed), Mesmer gets no nerfs and gets a reduction in Moa duration only AFTER the complaints from everyone else.)
Merc amulet gone which hurts Mesmer but ALSO hurts necro and condi war.
So mesmers “might” not be God tier 3 seasons in a row. Oh the horror, oh the pain!

Back before the June 2015 patch when all trait choice diversity got wrecked by Anet, you could say someone can come up with a unique build. But since then anyone with half a brain (and knows his class) can come up with the best build really easily and independently.
I was playing sword torch mace shield merc build and I never saw hibify . The wheel can be invented by many diff people at the same time especially with the “LEGO” style trait system we have now .

With the 20% damage reduction in true shot, DH are laughably weak now . I played DH in season 2(as one of my 3 classes ) but that spot is now taken by warrior. When I see a DH now it’s just a temporary delay (while I kill him) and then focus on the more dangerous enemy players .

well, in the past unranked was more about rotation & skill, now any team is camping infront of spawn and farming or zerging, feels like almost everyone got condition bunker build.. just a bit, pathetic.
Season 3 will have condition builds either less bunkery (is that a word?) or have less damage due to mercenary amulet removal.

LOL Celestial was removed mainly BECAUSE it was insanely strong on d/d Ele. If they moved to class specific amulets i very much doubt ele would get Cele amulet.

It’s a good idea in theory, but the environment is too toxic. It’s best to just team queue with people that you already know their builds.

What class do you play? Because with all the nerfs DH trap has had its barely useful anymore except vs Thieves. I played Rev, Scrapper and DH in season 2. But for season 3 DH will be replaced by Warrior in my rotation.

I played Mallyx last season for a while and it did quite well even with the OP necros. With the necro nerf now it should do better against them.
I switched to Power Rev now just to learn it better.
The only problem is if a necro uses boon corrupt smartly, it should shut down a condi rev because they rely on the boons they have to survive.
With enough cover condis the boon corrupt from scepter was never a problem. Honestly i didnt have a problem vs Necros in Season 2 as a Condi Rev.
Now that merc amulet is gone both necro and condi rev will be squishier.

For those that don’t know what he means. Trait lines used to give you stat bonuses depending on the line, and you used to be able to allocate trait points anywhere. So for example, a thief could take condi clear on stealth without having to trait all the way into SA.
This is the point in time where all build diversity was completely annihilated and “meta builds” sprung to life.
Before this time, I had at least 4-5 builds I could play on any given class and do well with it. I had so many favorite builds I had to keep a long notepad full of them.
Oh I forgot to mention, their reasoning was that it was too easy for newbies to end up with a terrible build. So, this was an intentional “dumbing down”.
I agree but i suspect it wasn’t because they were trying to protect newbies. It was more likely because its easier to balance when there is less diversity. Heck they can’t balance even with this restricted envionment still.

NO because what i hate the most about the PvP template system is that it is so inflexible.
Especially for my Guardian which is low tier in PvP but is much better in WvW since i can build enough Vitality to keep it alive but also have great dps.
Having said that the fact that PVP has limited gear options and is then used by the balance team to balance the classes which can have a disproportionate effect on WvW class balance where stats are not limited by amulets.

I agree with the Utilities and traits (i have that setup exactly). im undecided between water runes and hoelbrak runes. i have been testing both.
Also i would go for sigil of blood when its fixed instead of the sigil of agility.
I was using blast gyro in season 2 and felt it was better than slick shoes in a soloq environment even before the slick shoes nerf.

No condition damage = no hybrid pressure.
No condition damage = no challenge for Revenant.
Sigh. You guys do realize that DESTROYER has both power and condition damage right. Pls don’t confuse it with demolisher amulet.
Yeah, except it won’t work. Condition damage is DoT, if you don’t have T, you don’t have D. Pretty simple actually. With destroyer you have no defense against physical damage, therefore you won’t survive long enough to do meaningful damage.
LOL condis stopped being “Damage Over TIME” (in the traditional sense) ever since ANET made condis stackable. Why do you think there is the term “Condi Burst”?
Mercenary just made it so that you had a huge amount of safety to throw your condis on the enemy.
But to say Condis in GW2 is classic Damage over Time is pretty far from current reality.

the stacking refer more in pve when couple of ppl can put 35 torment, confusion and bleed. in pvp you hardly see above 10-15 torment usually comes from the mesmer. thus dot
the burst means that we do our combo to put as much stacks as possible when we see our enemy used his cleanse.
i run with condi mesmer to try to stacks. it was funny we did 20 confusion and 25 torment on one guy. he got to 5% hp and cleanse . he died after that but still funny.
Any condition that can do at least 1-2k HP damage per second is not what i would call DOT. Add to that the fact people can do multiple conditions on someone and that person is dead in 5 seconds.
15 stacks of Confusion does approx 1700+ damage per skill use on a condition amulet user
15 stacks of Torment does approx 1800+ damage per sec on a moving target on a condition amulet user.

I still can’t decide between RR and CI, Smash Brawler and SI, and BR versus EC.
I love the healing and toughness from RR combined with savage instinct, CI is so nice to have for condi clears and adrenal gain though, and since I use Outrage/Heabutt/EP, all the extra might and stability from EC seems to be awesome, but took people down faster with taunt from BR.
I’m so confused and can’t decide, life was simpler in Vanilla.

Amulets by class would resolves some of the problems but again its a bandaid fix for class balance issues.
Having said that its a better fix than just removing amulets all together since we know some of these amulets are fine for other classes but OP on some classes.

I also never understood why you would use merc… The condi warrior doesnt have much power burst anyways. Better go full condi, been doing that for months now… Even before warrior was buffed. Even made a video about it
You say that but I did a ton of damage with merc amulet and sword /torch mace/shield. My damage stats were almost exactly split 50/50 between power and condi which I like a lot especially when fighting ele and their diamond skin.

Because merc amulet was way stronger than paladin .
Merc amulet let you do high condition damage AND good power damage while being tanky .
Paladin amulet only lets you do power damage while being tanky.

Yes but Merc amulet was great for my double melee Sword/Torch Mace/Shield Condi War.
Now it will have to be LB Mace/Shield to keep some distance when needed.
But i will probably test out Power War with Demolisher amulet and GS Axe/Shield especially now Mesmers and Necros will not have Merc Amulet anymore they will have to give up DPS or be squishier.
Honestly, Demolisher GS Axe/Shield already works really well. It’s just going to be even better now.
Yes i actually played Demolisher GS Axe/Shield first after the recent warrior buff but moved to Mercenary Sw/Torch Mace/Shield because imho it was much better. Now Power War is most likely better.

When will anet realize, that amulets are not the (main) issue?
As mentioned in the OP, there will be a few balance changes coming next week as well, but runes/sigils/amulets are one of the things the PvP team can change on our own without impacting the rest of the game. To be clear: the PvP team, just like fractals/raids/wvw/etc, does not handle profession balance – there is a separate team for that.
How can you expect PvP balance to ever become good with a system like that? This is beyond my understanding.

Let’s hope the “outlier” shaves include Revenant, now that mesmers and necros will no longer be able keep power rev’s in check (without toughness).
I have been playing power rev a lot more recently and removal of Merc Amulet is a definite buff to power rev. There is no denying it. (it does nerf Condi Rev though)
Its a pity that removal nerfed condi warrior also. It would seem warrior will have to go back to power GS X/Shield with Marauder or Demolisher Amulet.

The only Tier 1 meta build playing this amulet at the moment is condi mesmer. Do you really think the amulet is broken or does condi mes just have broken mechanics? This is going to kitten so many specs that are on the fringe of viability at the moment.

Mercenary Amulet was used by the Meta builds for Mesmer, Necro and is currently used by Condi Warriors and if anyone did play Condi Rev it was used by that also. So no its not a niche amulet used only by condi mesmer.
