LOL just wait till season 3 and see how many FOTM players reroll from necro to Mesmer. You do realise that ANET doesnt balance around ESL exclusively since if they did Dragonhunter true shot and traps would not have been nerfed today.

They nerfed DH because the vast majority of players (suprise suprise) are not ESL material and as such get One Shot by DH.

Necro chill got nerfed for same reason. Necro not so popular at high end gameplay but at ruby and below they facerolled people.

Double Moa ROFLStomps people in lower tiers and ANET DID NOT nerf it so you can be sure to see quite a few more mesmers next season especially ruby and below.

Just going to drop in here that I felt the nerfs were pretty rough until I swapped from Paladin’s to Mender’s.

Now it feels just like before, and without any real significant impacts to damage.

I played with menders a couple weeks ago and felt i lost way too much damage

Except you won’t. Mesmer wells were buffed alongside Scepter that no one uses in pvp. Sword is still the better option and that was untouched (main hand).

The only thing of significance to Mesmer that was buffed was Flow of Time which granted .75 seconds of alacrity per illusion shattered to 1 second of alacrity per illusion shattered. Hardly a game breaking buff that will make people swarm to Mesmer.

You’re forgetting all the FOTM rerollers that were facerolling on Necros and will now switch to mesmer since double MOA and Shatters are still easy way to kill 1v1. The rerollers will not stay on necro with that chill damage change. They sure as heck not coming to DH.

This is just a disaster anyway you look at it, PvP really needs to get over itself and stop affecting the PvE crowd.

I 100% agree with this. Why they reverted the PVP/PVE split is beyond me. They keep nerfing my DH traps and now true shot (which to be fair needed some nerf in pvp) but its messing up my pve fun.

Engineer (Scrapper) that most needed nerfs got more meaningful buffs than nerfs.

You must be reading a different set of patch notes than the rest of us. Scrapper was nerfed. Regen nerfed, Hammer 3 only 2 leaps (which is a big nerf to DPS/CC and to healing due to only 2 leap finishers in the water field now). Slick shoes HUGE nerf.

After they fix bugs, I think scrapper will still be our best build in PvP. It’s just Blast Gyro + Final Salvo now instead of Slick Shoes.

Until Final Salvo is fixed, though, I’m just going to mess around with the new amulets and try non-scrapper condi again.

Ive liked blast gyro with final salvo better than slick shoes ever since Basz wrote it about it on this forum. With slick shoes nerf i can see this being the meta going forward.

The new patch totally broke the gyro scrapper.

Final Salvo is bugged, doesnt give lightning field or superspeed.
Blast gyro broken.
Gyros no longer activate it separate from other skills, activating them will break them (ie ressing, stomping).

This will get fixed im sure. bound to be bugs on patch day which is why a lot of people dont bother playing for the first few days.

Buffs are meaningless, nerfs are substantial, and some things that worked nicely in PvE are made useless due to PvP (no, seriously, tell me why one should even bother using slick shoes now).
PvP is nothing but a bane for this class.

TBH i found blast gyro to be more fun to use than slickshoes especially with final salvo.

It’s not about fun. Slick shoes was crucial when you wanted to defeat gorseval. You have to break it’s bar as fast as possible. That was the ONLY unique role an engineer was able to serve. Now with the change to slick shoes, this is gone.

Sorry i was speaking from a PVP perspective. I dont do raids/dungeons/fractals so forgive my ignorance.

Reapers were in the really unfortunately state that turret engis were in way back – namely that they just rolled over the average player. In higher-end matches, namely diamond/legendary, having any more than one necro on a team was a huge liability. But, as it stood, like 90% of the playerbase saw reapers as this unstoppable death machine that was in itself the perfect team-comp.

A bit like how DH is strong in lower tiers and look what happened to them. Not effective at high tiers yet the forums are full of QQ on DH. I have to admit i was expecting a reduction in chill damage on that GM trait, i wasnt expecting it to be completely changed. (i dont play necro btw)

Charged mists is the Invocation GM that is never used (might on threshold) what exactly are you referring to?

Exactly. Who even uses Charged Mists GM trait? It gives 2 stacks of might when you use a skill that drops your Energy below 50, when compared to Roiling Mists which is a free extra 20% crit chance when you have Fury.

Yes, those of us that liked, or at least didn’t mind Skyhammer, are few and far between. People typically prefer Spirit Watch over Skyhammer, if they have to pick between them. Personally, I hate Spirit Watch, but this goes back to people being stupid. shrug

Which is why it needed to go. Keeping a map that was disliked by a majority of players is not good for business. And Spirit Watch map choosers may be stupid to you but those same people are cursing you when you vote for hammer. The joys of people being different.

Seems like most of the community disagreed with the 2 first posters based on the comment thread on Skyhammer a little while ago and amazingly ANET seems to have listened.

I wonder if they nerfed the skyhammer damage as suggested by many people (myself included) because whenever i had that map i would swap to DH and camp that hammer FTW. I hope they have since that map is boring as ****

All DH needs to really see is a nerf to the daze on trap (1/4sec instead of 1/2sec)

its funny how i see way more premades in unranked than in ranked but i have also won more games than i have lost vs those full or 4 man premades. Usually its just guild/pve teams practicing etc.

I’d rather fight stupid legends with or against than having to wait any longer than my 20 min queues. I mean sure it’s great to have a super competitive match where everyone tries but I don’t want to wait in queue for over half an hour to get one game, that’s just stupid.

This season I’ve had regular 8-20 minute queues in high diamond/legend. How is this fun? I wasted more time in queue this season than playing the actual game.

Which is why I stopped short of legend x2, it just wasn’t worth queue times.

I’m sure the person who is diamond last tier with 1 pip to go will diagree with you. Im 100% sure he would rather wait an extra 20 min and have a chance of winning than get a Tier 1 legend in his team who decides he wants to test his “new” thief build he’s been dying to try out.

And you just said it you are already legend x1 so Q times is important to you and winning is not so important since you are already legend.

I was testing for on dummies and i was not getting the claimed 5K+ damage. I was getting around 2k at best. Do you need to have lots of might stacks etc?

I don’t know why people believe that division drop is the solution.

If anything, division drop would ensure that once you hit legendary nobody will ever play ranked while the season lasts.

Let me give you a choice.

1. ANET implents a division drop and legends stop playing, q times go up. BUT the ones that do q actually want to win.

2. ANET does not implement division drops and you get stupid legends or whatever messing around with off specs and really not caring and thereby ruining your chances at getting a pip/win because you know, you are actually TRYING to get to legend yourself and are 2 pips away.

I know which one i prefer.

April's balance patch, what to expect?

See as ANet has no clue how to balance properly, I expect the reaction to be:

  • “WTF are they thinking?”
  • Laughter at the sheer stupidity of it all
  • Hanging head in disappointment at what used to be a great and fun game

They’ll probably:

  • Buff warriors and thieves unnecessarily
  • Nerf the wrong thing on ele and necro which end up not affecting them
  • Leave scrappers OP
  • Buff druids
  • Try to buff unused revenant legends
  • Make some elaborate nerf to chronomancer Moa that either does nothing or ends up making the skill completely useless
  • Remove an amulet or two because that’s the problem…

What they really should do:

  • Nerf all HoT specs. All need nerfed, just some more than others.

Forgot about the only trait line in the game where all minors and traits that can be chosen are passive, a.ka. Retribution line. Goes somewhere there along the lines of my above post.

Versed in Stone, stability on dodge, Eye for an Eye, so “complex” to use man

Most power revs have moved from the retribution line and are now taking the Invocation line for the damage. But yes retribution is very good for survivability.

And power rev was designed with weakness to condi in mind from the very start. It would be highly unlikely that they would give it more condi cleanse.

Why am I not aloud to win a pvp match?

First step, stop blaming the matchmaking. It’s almost certainly the player’s fault. This week we got a pug complaining that he lost like 15 in a row and matchmaking sucks, then he proceeded to throw the game by losing to classes he’s supposed to counter, wiping under 2-3 seconds in every fight. He singlehandedly ended our winstreak of 25-30.

If you have a lose streak bigger than 3-4 matches, you’re the problem, and denying it won’t help you climb.

Hah i had one like the other day. A mesmer on our team kept complaining in team chat the whole game how he gets awful teammates. I was in a duo Q with my buddy. We lost.

Next match we face against him. First thing is does in map chat is complain how he’s getting awful team mates. We win this time. Even his teammates said in map chat “you’re not exactly carrying yourself here buddy!”

Notice the connection here?

There are obviously some kind of matchmaking problems as admitted to by the Devs but there is also a lot of people who like to blame others and not look at how they are playing.

I would say that the biggest problem of rev is not only that fulfills exactly the same role than other classes but with more succes, but the horrible design that he have. Rev needs an overall rework imo.

It definitely needs rework.

The class has good potential. I have noticed though that compared to say necro and DH which pretty much anyone can pick up and be decent at very very quickly, with rev there are sooooo many terrible ones out there. The difference between the average power rev and a good power rev is huge and it comes down to skill.

When I’m on my Scrapper, DH or condi Rev i would much rather face a power rev than another Scrapper,DH or condi rev because i know there is a high chance they will be average and much easier to kill.

I’d argue that all power specs get destroyed by condi builds, not just revenant. That claim doesn’t hold any worth.

you can argue if you like but everyone knows that the biggest weakness of Power Rev is condi and its way worse than any other spec. Power Rev meta build has the least condi clears out of any power spec class.

DH has wings of resolve, Smite Condition (utility as well as on heal effect). Can trait for Remove condition on block also.

Scrapper has remove conditions on elixir and heal use. Elixir gun has cleanse conditions. Can remove conditions by combo of light field.

Thief can clear conditions on evade/dodge. Can clear in stealth.

Sorry but Power Rev is bottom of the list when it comes to condi cleansing.

Play 3 games per day for 5 days in a 7 day period. Lose no pips.
Play 3 games per day for 4 days in a 7 day period. Lose 1 pip
Play 3 games per day for 3 days in a 7 day period. Lose 2 pips
Play 3 games per day for 2 days in a 7 day period. Lose 3 pips
Play 3 games per day for 1 day in a 7 day period. Lose 4 pips
Don’t play at least 3 games for any days in a 7 day period. Lose 5 pips.

There are ways to make sure people don’t just stop playing without it being onerous.
You can’t be called champ if you refuse to fight your competition.

Implement a decay system. If you don’t play your ranking decays. So play and risk losing your ranking or don’t play and DEFINITELY lose your ranking. Besides you still get the achievement for crossing divisions so not like you miss out on those.

I personally would vote for Pip, Tier and Division loss in every division except Amber.

ANET needs to decide if they want to have a grind system or proper skill based system.

And I’m saying this knowing this will forever prevent me from getting legendary.
