+1 I agree the balance team have the ability to control this.

Cleric Amulet was strong on Ele but not particularly strong on Bunker Guard (wasnt enough to get it into the meta) so ANET could have just restricted its use .

Is warrior A or B tier now?? Mind you I only use power warrior.. or were engis ninja nerfed?

The patch notes show that they took an axe to Scrapper.

Where as the only nerf War got was 10% reduction to Adrenal Health. Add to that the Buff to Axe and the ability to stack Endure Pain and Defy Pain means that War (and power war particularly) got a lot stronger on a relative basis vs Scrapper.

Allow condi to damage treb in BoK

Currently, if you play a condition class, you struggle to kill the treb in Battle of Khylo. Can this perhaps be changed so that condition damage can deal damage to the treb and just double the treb’s hp. Would make it more fair across all classes when trying to destroy it.

Yup cos trebs can bleed and be poisoned……….

i’ll give you burning condi as acceptable.

The previous Meta only used the heal trap and Test of Faith. Judging from what ive been reading on the Guardian forum and some testing myself last night, the new Meta will likely still be using those 2 traps and actually maybe only the heal trap.

So in summary stop whining about losing to noob trap spammers.

Removing Amulets will NOT Solve the Problem [Merged]

I think the Cleric Amulet needed to go, they got rid of Soldier, Soldier made you yourself sustainable but with Cleric people could heal 5 door breakers faster than a trebuchet could damage them. Usually hitting them twice with it is enough, a healer could pretty much negate the trebuchet damage. Magi, well it has vitality instead of toughness and precision instead of power. I can imagine a lot of healers will pay the gold and unlock it. Would like to see it go as well as it has the same healing power as Cleric so could be used to keep enemy NPCs alive pretty much indefinitely. Either that or bring back cleric but nerf the Tempest and Druid healing abilities beyond recognition. Nothing wrong with making them able to heal so that door breakers can survive an extra hit or so from the treb but not much more than that.

If they deleted an entire amulet only because of stronghold, a failed pvp map, then I would be flabbergasted.

+1 . I mean who the heck even plays Stronghold anymore other than premade groups farming pips off solo q scrubs who forgot to uncheck stronghold from their preferences?

@stormcrow…. just put a sigil of speed in your longbow and enjoy permanent swiftness in open world pve. Thats what i do. No need to waste utility slots. And if you really want also use Spring Rolls for swiftness that lasts for days and days and days.

The Deflecting Shot change is a good one. Takes the RNG out of it so you know when to get knockbocks when reviving.

Improving ESL casting

Best way to improve ESL viewing experience (IMO) is to STOP JUMPING from player to player every 5 seconds. That combined with the insane spamming visual effects is dramatically increasing my chances of having an epileptic fit.

With regards to the casters themselves…i cant comment since it feels like gibberish when they also change commentary every 5 sec due to the camera viewpoints continually changing.

warrior seems to be the only forum that calls for nerfs, there are loads of overpowered skills, greater than this, I hope anet looks at what players are using rather than these sour grapes posts that drop in. If it was massively op, then everyone would be using it….
simply not the case, aren’t even loads of warriors around.

personally, i think they should replace bleeding, confusion with weakness 8s, 5 vulnerability 8s and it should be fine.

I think it’s better for build diversity to keep some damaging condis on. Condi/Hybrid builds like CC, too, ya know!

Sword is/was the warrior condi weapon. What i hate is the big difference in “style” between Skull Crack and Skull Grinder. Skull Crack suits a power build while Skull Grinder is a condi build burst. Yet its the same weapon so if you spec power you lose a lot of the benefit of the primal burst F1.

Warrior PvP - Second Thread

I played a hybrid warrior last week for a day using Destroyer Amulet and GS Mace/Shield but when i looked at the end game stats i found that the condi damage was much lower than i had hoped. So i switched to Full Power War (GS Axe/Shield) with Demolisher amulet and had so much more fun. I actually had one game where i hit the legendary 1 Million + damage stat. It was almost 1.2 Million. It was a long match that went to 500/470 finish.

I actually hadnt had so much fun on war since before HOT. Meta Condi war just bores me to tears although i did use it in season 3 to get my easy profession achievement.

Single Or Multiple PvP Classes

I used to be exclusively warrior for pvp with some guardian thrown in (before HOT). The poor state of warrior in season 1 and 2 made me branch out and learn Rev and Scrapper. So now i can play 4 classes reasonably well.

Rev dont need energy regen with autos just removing energy costs on weapon skill.

no way will it be DH, because everyone at ANET thinks DH is in a good place and even as it is currently, all the scrubs whine that they are getting owned by Trap DH.

They don’t really balance for the low level population though…. I know it’s a higher percentage of the population but in the upper tiers dhs are garbage and we didn’t see any? (Could be wrong) in recent tourneys.

They do balance mainly for the average, most populated player base. They’re the one’s who keep the game going so I don’t know why you would say that… DH is a really good class when going up against Amber rated players so they need to walk a fine line with buffs/nerfs.

Nope they dont. They balance at the competitive level. Would be pretty silly to balance around the low skill players…. would absolutely ruin competitive play

If ANET balanced around competitive play why do they keep nerfing DH in every patch? Seeing a DH in high level play is as common as Unicorn sightings in Central Park. DH is the purest example of ANET balancing for the masses and not for competitive play.

Allowing people to choose stats for each gear piece individually would turn pvp into wvw

Look at wvw then think again if that would be wise. There are a lot of builds there that would disintegrate the meta and it is not even counting the condi cancer all through the fine tuning of stats….it could work since food and other op runes/sigils/ascended equipment wouldn’t exist in pvp so go figure

But dont you think that if they allowed free stat choices it would then make balancing between pvp and wvw much much easier. Right now ANET balances class skills/utilities using the artificially restrictive stat spreads of the Amulet system we have in place (plus the limited rune and sigil choices). This creates far too many “unintended” consequences in WvW.

The point of unranked is to test new builds and strategies, hone your skills in a less stressful environment. Yeah I guess you get players not taking it seriously but then do we expect the games to be competitive? People who want competition can always open a private room and go at it with friends or guilds.

+1^ Anyone who expects to get consistently good games in unranked is deluding themselves. I go to Unranked to test new classes/new builds. I’m without a doubt playing something that im not familiar with and as such will not be playing my best.

I “expect” a good percentage of my team mates will be doing the same and so do not really care whether i win or lose, so long as im learning from the match which was my intention all along.

What else did we learn?

1. When designing a pvp system. Never, ever, ever put a PVE item as a grindable reward in a PVP league. (oh us players learned that in season 1) Hopefully ANET realizes it now too.

2. Lack of solo q has had a significant number of complaints.

3. Guards are in a good place but just to be safe they should probably get nerfed some more. (im kidding Karl!!!)

I don’t think we have a large enough player pool to accommodate a split between solo and party queues. I think this is the reason they haven’t implemented it again.

And at the rate ANET is going pretty soon there won’t be enough players for their current mixed Q system either i suspect.

I like warrior and its the one i have the most PVP matches on but i feel that with all the QQ we might get an Adrenal Health shave . However i think that is wrong. It would be better for some condi damage nerf since Adrenal Health is not OP on power warrior. Mace F1 for example would be a better candidate for a nerf if there has to be one.

I agree with the remove amulet things. How on earth ANET thinks they could balance PVP and PVE/WVW where in PVP you have restricted stat combinations while in PVE/WVW you can have whatever you want is beyond me.

However i would say start slowly. Let us make 3 choices using the currently available stats. So instead of choosing an amulet we can choose.

1. Weapon stats
2. Armor stats
3. Accessory (amulet) stats

in addition to rune and sigil choices that we already can do.

This would give us 3 times more flexibility than we currently do while still being easy for new players to “understand” or not be overwhelmed.

I suggest Pure of Voice should convert 2 conditions into boons not 1. With the current condi bursts that people can do either nerf the condi burst or give support guardian better team condi cleanse. Pure of Voice is a GM trait and as such it should be more than convert 1.

Also Save Yourselves should give the guardian 3 seconds of resistance.

To be honest you can get all the hero points you need to unlock the Elite Spec in a day.

I hate grind but even i gotta say its not really that hard or takes too long at all.

That’s not really the point. It’s actually a great quality of life improvement to be able to run WvW and get HP’s you need for your 4th or 5th alt. It’d be nice if the same were true in sPvP.

I think its a good idea , ive done all HP on 5 Alts. It would be easier of course if i could get them as a reward track so i would be happy to have that track also. I think what i was trying to say was that if you do occasional WvW or PVE then getting the HP done is not super grindy. There are enough people doing them that you never have to try and solo. I have a commanders tag and i would just go to HP, call on Map Chat and within a couple minutes at least 2 or 3 people would show up which is all you need to do any of the champs.

Again its the only way Scrappers can safe stomp. If you want to make it interruptible be prepared to also accept every other classes “safe stomp” be interruptible.

Shall we make thieves elite stomp also have a 1.5 sec cast time also so they can “tune” their impact? Should guardians F3 shield also have a cast time so they can be interupted before shield appears?

Hate to break this to you but there is a pre cast time on every ability in the impact strike chain…. It is also not a safe stomp. now in theory you can take Haste to speed this up, but to do that you would need to drop Thrill of the crime. a choice most thief’s won’t go for. The total time is 1/2 seconds + 3/4 seconds + 1 1/2 seconds. by all means reduce this to 1.5 instead of the 2 3/4 seconds it is now

Thief’s safe stomp was already nerfed, that would of been IR + stomp + steal. Which btw also recieved a cast time.

(This was the worst example you could of used)

I dont play a thief in pvp (i have one i use in open world) but i read good thieves can time their impact strike, starting it just before the enemy is downed and then final strike finishes the enemy immediately. Again i may be wrong here.

Maybe it was a bad example but my point was that people are complaining about it but a lot of other classes have excellent safe stomping abilities.

TL;DR: if you don’t get anything in return for doing something, you won’t try to do it in the best way you can. You will do it for doing it = low skill and low effort environment.

Hmmm when i was a kid i played soccer because i liked it and wanted to get better at it. There was no expectation of returns. In no way was it a low skill/low effort environment. When i entered a competition/tournament there was a trophy BUT only ONE team got to win it. Not everyone got a trophy just for showing up and grinding games.

Meh I can’t help but think… If this was a ranger ability on a 20s icd and had a range of 900 and could stomp & rez it would be nerfed…

Probably it would be nerfed down to 600 range and have a 60s icd… Oh wait, this already happened to rangers but it only had half the functionality that the gyro does and wasn’t nearly as strong…

In short I’d like to see the range nerfed to 600 and the icd increased to a minimum of 48s but preferably 60s…

LOL Search and Rescue was able to completely remove a downed player from any cleaving action from the enemy team. It could teleport the downed player to the Ranger that was positioned 1200 distance away, usually on a ledge or other difficult to access location, thereby guaranteeing a successful rez.

Profession queueing

Ok, someone explain to me why being able to switch professions before a game should be off limits. I understand it gives an advantage, but isn’t that a good thing? Should you really not be rewarded for knowing how to play multiple professions?

preventing profession switching would allow ANET to use Profession based MMR and not Account Based MMR. This would take into account how someone can be really good at one class but terrible on another. The incredible wisdom of ANET to make league professional achievements on 3 classes makes for terrible matches where you get a player on your team that may be ruby on his main class but be amber skill level on the other 2 classes. Currently the Match Maker will still think hes a ruby level player and place him on team based on his account MMR. When in reality he knows nothing about that second class.

Gyro stomp is the Engie’s “Safe Stomp”. If you want to remove that then you need to look at every other classes ability to safe stomp. Thieves with their super fast elite stomp. Guardians with their Focus 5 Stomp (3 blocks) Or F3 shield blocks. Basically anyone who has access to multiple blocks/stability stacks.

Warrior Dolyak Signet 10 stacks of stability? Balanced stance 2 stacks.

Scrapper needs to use a GM trait Final Salvo to get that stability. Im ok with removing stability IF either they give Engineers another way to safe stomp (via utilities) or they remove safe stomping from every other class. Safe Stomping is an important mechanic in pvp.
