But isn’t personal perception everything? I mean do you care how other people view the game ? I don’t particularly. I care about my personal enjoyment since “newsflash” this is a game and meant to be enjoyed. So If I find that when I solo q and get put in the 4,1 or 3,1,1 vs full solo or 2,1,1,1 and we ROFLSTOMP more often than not and vice versa when im in the full solo team them my “personal perception” is that premades “generally” have an advantage over solo queuers.

I want to first poll, whether Duo is allowed and a further poll whether Team Que is abolished.
Conclusion: Against what Arenanet suggests for separate Solo and Team Que.
if you read what Josh wrote, the first poll will be if we want solo/duo q. Then AFTER Season 5 ENDS another poll will ask if we want to make it permanent.
There will NOT be both solo/duo queue and team queue in S5. Its either remain as it is or Solo/Duo q depending on first poll.

Let me be CLEAR; “I personally agree with having it separate”, but I’m going to play devils advocate here just to make sure people also have this in mind when they start rooting for this change.
One of pvps biggest problems is lack of new players or having existing players becoming more interested in pvp. If you separate balance between the two modes, it’ll give pve players or new players to the game another reason not to enter. Why? because not only do they have to learn the pvp game mode and all of its jargon, they also have to learn a whole new class balance with their choose profession. Your going to hear even more talk of people saying, “oh this class is great in pve, but is terrible in pvp,” which will make it even harder for new players or existing to settle on a class they want to main.
However, I doubt the balance team would ever completely change a class so much that it would require relearning it, if everything was completely separate. I’d assume only a few skills would get the “PVP only” tag next to it. The rest, remaining the same.
It doesn’t have to be that way. ANet can do a lot to balance both modes better and separately by just changing coefficients and CDs around between the game mods. That means you might have to adjust your rotations but that’s it (and really you should be doing that anyway, a PvE rotation isn’t that good in PvP).
Agreed. They already changed the CD on precision strike on REV sword 2 in PVP to be 1 sec longer in PVP compared to PVE/WvW. They can change the duration of boons, the CD of skills, the healing coefficients (remember Selfless Daring on Guardian?), the damage coefficients. The duration and CD of conditions applied.
A lot can be done using just these.

Ive said this before a number of times. They really should go into splitting the ONE amulet system into 3 items. So you choose a stat set for Weapons, another for Armor and another for Amulet. The total number of stat points will remain the same but this will allow a significant increase in stat flexibility, allowing for a wider variety of builds.
This isn’t much more difficult for new players to understand while allowing experienced players to experiment with a lot of different builds.

Personally it should have 2 leagues a solo/duo league and a 3/4/5 man league. Exclusively doing one or the other is not a good idea. As mentioned above it discriminates against full teams.

There’s a reason they play that build. If you have team support you’re unstoppable with it. It’s the apex predator of power builds in team comps.
Exactly its very very powerful when in a proper team or even in a duo team with a Druid/Scrapper/Ele. SoloQ its more hit or miss although of course there are people who have done very well with power rev soloq too.

So many games have been called “lost” after the first wipe at mid by inexperienced players. Quite often the people who give up are the real reason for a loss as they prevent a comeback. Those players that AFK because they feel the match is lost deserve to be reported.

I think after 25k+ i have a good idea when the game is lost or no.Ppl keep mixing up winnable and non-winnable games. Yes you dont AFK when there still is a chance. But come on… you only decalre a game ‘lost’ when its 52-497? Once I’m sure we lose, I go AFK. It gets me (and all the others) to a new game sooner which I actually have the chance to win. Or if the enemy team is not so all over the map, I try to pick a 1v1 to have fun and kill time. Telling ppl to run in like headless chickens regardless of the circumstances is anything but sportsmanlike or positive. Just like AFKing in a game thats actually winnable… both scenarios have their corresponding ‘proper attitude’ imho.
The problem with that is the point where the player feels its unwinnable is very different depending on the player. For some its 400/200 and they stop. For others its when they lose the first mid fight and start raging in team chat. For some its when its 200/100.
So you see people can AFK when the match is certainly still winnable because they happen to be 12y kids who rage when they get owned at mid or in a 1v1 on side point.
Just because certain individuals lack the capacity to make this decision wisely, does not mean the attitude is flawed. There is no cure for stupid… Immature and emotionally unstable ppl gonna do what they gonna do anyways – regardless if their behaviour can be justified or not. This is for the ones who actually have situational awareness and a cool head. Just like a chainsaw: works if used well.
Actually behavior can be modified very easily based on the reward system in place. Currently there is no difference (reward) for losing 500/499 or 500/100 and so some players will give up when they believe a match is lost.
Look at GW2 PVE system. When you do dungeons or fractals everyone gets the loot at the end. I used to play a game where the final loot was a chest and you all had to Roll for the item. The rage/anger/stealing that used to go on was incredible. People would only run dungeons with friends or guildies. LFG was a huge risk.
If Anet were to put in place something where if you a penalized less if you lose 500/450 than if you lose 500/100 (especially if they implement layers like 500/450, 500/350, 500/300) then the player base will be incentivized to do the best they can.

Melandru runes? I would think leadership is the best for the boon duration so that your resistance uptime is really high.

I think I’m gonna try this out today since it feels like every game I play has 2 condi-mesmers in it these days, but two questions on this build:
- How necessary is Retribution? It seems like having so much access to resistance sort of negates a lot of what you’re getting from Ret, unless this is mainly just to help stomp/rez people. Devastation with your Sage’s amulet seems interesting since I think traited life siphoning scales off 10% of your healing power?
- Sort of similar note, but since you’re still using Glint, why not Elder’s Force?
The build’s weakness is the lack of stunbreaks. Only one stunbreak available and that’s in glint. So using Retribution and Enhanced bulwark gives you a lot of stability to help counter the lack of stunbreaks. If you go Devastation or Invo you lose the stability. With invo you get stun break on legend swap though. Invo does more damage but one cc chain and youre dead.

ANET really needs to go back to some kind of reward system where getting a close loss result is better than a blowout loss. This goes a long way towards preventing AFKers, people who give up after they are down 100 pts.

A necromancer damage is low and it’s only utility is boon corrupt. leave a necromancer build LF can be dangerous but always lesser than leave alone a DH, a Warrior, a Reve, a Druid or even a Tempest free to cast it’s skills from range (expecially a tempest with the staff, that cans eriously inflict a insane amount of AoE damage with staff Fire 5, glyph and lightning attunement overcharge, much more damage than a necro can do.
And yet EVERY match im in EVERYONE says focus the necro first. No one says focus the DH, or Warrior if there is a necro in enemy team. Rev is a toss up. But still more often than not they say go for necro rather than Rev.

Glint/Mallyx condi rev is pretty good and ive played it a lot last season. Personally I feel that in Solo Q its better than Power Rev. However if I duo queue with a druid or engie then I like power rev better. The support I get from druid or Scrapper lets me focus on my DPS and its insane damage.
I actually have 2 Revs for pvp one setup for condi another for power (since ANET still hasn’t given us saved pvp builds yet). When I solo q, I see my team comp then I can switch between the 2.

Boon duration on Guard/DH thats so 2012 ??? ;P
Imo i dont think that Guardians gain that much from boon duration nowadays, rather have blocks for the heal than expect regen does its work, before getting corrupted.The reason boon duration went out the window back then was because of the nerf to boon duration runes and the remaining sources were highly inefficient like crap such as stuffing doubloons in exotic trinkets— just inherenly suboptimal and overall gimmicky as all hell.
Nowadays, boon duration comes with strong runes (durability) and strong stat combos such as wanderers and commanders that do not sacrifice many base stats to accomplish their goals. At a certain point you are able to survive any hit and are able to invest in luxuries like boon duration power or healing power or whathaveyou and still survive easy. Being overly tanky helps no one— it’s not like you can body block cleaves or AOEs.
The result is someone almost as tough as full pvt/sentinels yet able to more effectively support the group. There really are no losses here. And then there’s the potential offense increase.
And sure corruption is a problem, but it’s much easier to crap out boons than it is to strip them. There are many more ways to give AOE boons than there are to AOE boon strip/corrupt.
Simply put, with Heralds crapping out resistance/swiftness (thus covering all guardian weaknesses) and the fixes to stability, it’s a great time for any support guardian.
+1 so much this. Boon Duration between 2013 and release of HOT was terrible after ANET fixed the mixing of runes like monk/water etc. Now Wanderer and Commander gear is very efficient. Durability runes are awesome. Plus boon duration food. You can get very good duration . You can have good damage/toughness and boon duration all in one.

ya know, you can trigger all the traps with one block, dodge, or w/e. Im not sure how stacking dh is op. I mean, ofc if 5 dh jump on you you’re going to die to traps, but if 5 necrs jump on you you’re going to die to condis, so…
Stacking 5 guards might not be that bad if the game mode didn’t involve trying to capture a point, that is coincidentally the exact same size as DH traps. Stacking lets say 5 thieves, what advantage do you gain?? Well you get mobility… that’s about it. Stacking 5 DH will almost ensure that no one will get a point easily, and coupled with their damage output, and defensive capabilities makes them extremely overpowered when stacked(assuming they aren’t total scrubs).
My point still holds, stacking 5 necros is op cause they can put a lot of pressure in a point with marks and DS
I know someone who created a 5 man Necro team and steamrolled their way up through Diamond. So yeah stacking 5 Necro is very strong too.

Any amulet that doesn’t have Vitality is extremely difficult for a Guardian to use. There are probably only a handful of players who can make Zerker amulet work for DH but the term “Glassy” is too tanky a word to use for a Guardian that uses an amulet with no toughness and/or no vitality

I tried it for a while but as mentioned before if you are under condi pressure you want to stay in Mallyx stance and use the resistance. You don’t want to swap out of Mallyx just to proc the condi transfer.

The point of Save Yourself is there’s a component of risk. That’s why its a strong as it is. Resistance isn’t even on the table for discussion.
Its sooo strong its never used in PvP and don’t even dare try it in WvW in a big group. I use it for open world fun when solo . Then yeah its good.

I also was getting way more crashes on my MacBook last night. Previously it would be maybe 1 crash per WEEK. Yesterday I crashed 3 times. (general crashing not just map of course)

We’ve said this before. Save Yourselves needs 3 sec of resistance so you have a chance to press another button before you die. Especially since Save Yourselves hasn’t been updated to take into account the Condi Stacking that was implemented last year.

I played Burn DH last week in unranked and it def has a big surprise factor. No one expects it and if you stick to the team fights your AOE damage is quite high. As mentioned above if you drop a purging flames on top of a group trying to rez they get melted.
Its squishier than the symbolic Dh build (I use Radiance, Valor, DH trait lines) so I don’t have dodge heals, aegis heals or symbol heals. But I have burn on block and we have a TON of blocks. The amount of burn reapplication is quite high so even if they cleanse you reapply pretty quickly.
Burn guard probably works ok in unranked and lower tiers but I wouldn’t risk it in high tiers and I felt the squishier nature means its better in a team fight or 2v2 rather than a 1v1

Seriously the last thing sPvP needs is Condi builds with Dire stats, perplexity rune mesmers, or menders druids.
We used to have way more runes, amulets, and sigils in sPvP, however they where removed for very good reasons.
you can still keep that stuff out of pvp. the players have given many suggestions such as instead of just choosing amulet (Zerk, Marauder, Mender etc), we should be allowed to choose from those same stats but for Weapons, Armor and accessories so that we have 3 places we can choose stats. That way we could choose Marauder weapons, Zerk armor and even Valkyrie accessories (for example). Still simple enough but provide more flexibility.
You wont get wvw dire perplexity mesmers because dire and perplexity runes don’t exist and I don’t advocate that they do.

Personally, I cant stand PvP. The only reason why I am engaged in it is because I want my PvP Legendary wings.
Once I get this achievement, Ill be done with PvP for ever in this game. I just need to get past this forced PvP issue to get these wings.
Ive said it plenty of times. The biggest mistake ANET made was making a PVE item as a reward for PVP. You end up with players who literally HATE pvp and do it just for the item. Just as in real life if you force yourself to do stuff you hate only for a specific reward you will never get to any decent level (I know you don’t want to anyway) BUT you will also drag your unfortunate team mates down with you.
Amazes me that players will subject themselves to doing things they hate. Its a game. Do what you like doing . Why waste hours upon hours playing a game that is meant to be fun doing stuff that you plainly don’t enjoy?
