Whatever you guys are even hoping to achieve by constantly asking for nerfs?
Everything is a matter of personal skill….who lose now…will lose later still
…..I take it you play Ele?
Anyway Dragonhunters would like to say hi, they know how you feel with all these Ele nerf posts you are referring to.

i used to use Hammer and i love Hammer 3 to trigger DH traps but i started to use Staff again since i like its melee strength and that low CD block.
I find that hammer has issues when someone comes right into my face melee range. Thats where Staff works better for me. (i know i can swap to sw/shield but i have to wait for the weapon swap to come off cd)

Back in beta, or early launch, my friend and I vowed never to play any class in PvP besides 1, I chose Guardian. …(snip)…. I can’t be the only one who took up this vow of keeping that circle on the PvP panel a single color.
Thoughts? Anyone else agree?
I think there is a very high chance that you and your friend are the only people in the game with over 2000 matches and all of them on one class.
I got 5k in total and +2k on Thief :<
Yes but that means you have 3k matches on other classes right? My point was its rare to have played so many matches and ONLY on one class.

The most stupid and cluelessness post ever read.
He wouldn’t be wrong to guess so. There are people who farm dailies, there are people who want/have to try at least a second class for whatever group they usually run with. There are newbies who spammed every class looking to see which they enjoyed more. There are people who just played something else out of boredom.
If you aren’t in any of the above mentioned groups, you’re one of the very few.
I think Seyiwaji.4082 doesn’t read much if he thinks my post is the most stupid he has ever read. lol
Anyway maybe you misunderstood since obviously you don’t read much. My point was its very unlikely to have 2000 matches and ONLY have played one class. You can obviously have 2000 matches on a class but to tell me you have not played any other class in pvp even once is extemely rare.

I dont understand how people can say Guardian/Dh is weak in pve. I wreck mobs (mordrem and any others ) on my Zerk/Valkyrie geared DH. Never felt like they were hard or resistant to my power damage. I dont even use a PVE spec. I use my WvW Roaming medi/trapper spec.

But how did the Matchmaking system think pairing a 5 man premade (diamond+4 ruby) is suitable against 3 ruby 2 sapphire all soloq? Surely there was a duo or tripleq team out there that could have been paired up?

Whats the best Rev build for solo or duo q in low/mid tiers (Sapphire and below)
I know we have metabattle but im not high tier. I play a few games per day and would like a build that is good enough for me up to Sapphire. I hardly play enough to get me into ruby so i doubt i will meet too many diamonds (except for the MMR manipulators)
Since the Resistance nerf for Mallyx is Glint/Shiro better or still condi Mallyx?
Bear in mind i solo or duoq only so can’t always rely on great team coordination or a dedicated support from a team mate.
Thanks

For PVE on my rev i use Zerker weapons, zerker armor, valkyrie accessories with knights or soldiers rings for some toughness.

Just like not every high school basketball player can play at NBA level, not every MMO can be an eSport. Give it up Anet. Your system is just not good enough and has been going downhill not improving. PvP as it stands blows.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Agreed that if you know how a DH works you can out play it. I play DH and Rev in PvP and with the knowledge i gained playing them i can kill most average Revs using my DH and most average DH using my Rev. (granted im low tier but then again DH is great for farming casual players in low tiers).
Im constantly amazed at how many ambers/emeralds/Sapphires keep rushing headlong into my traps. I had stopped using Dragons Maw because i felt it was too easy to dodge. Then i switched back when i saw so many of my soloq team mates dying to enemy DH Dragons Maw.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
sounds interesting. Warrior def needs rework on Adrenaline. ANET went overboard with the Adrenaline decay. I know it was silly before when you could carry full adrenaline for ages between fights but the “fix” anet put in was way too hard. 1 decay/Sec would be a good start.
I like the concept of burning adrenaline to reduce CD which you have tempered by proposing a fatigue so the warrior needs to priotize which skills he wants to burn down. Not just any skill.

OP Lost all credibility after writing this.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
That was my point…..The current league system doesn’t cater for the masses which is really casual players……its too easy for the more active Pvp’ers to manipulate MMR/team comp etc to farm solo q pugs. If you now made it so those poor souls also lost pips and tiers, very quickly there would be no fodder for the Ruby-Diamond players.
Say hello super long Q times
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
problem is with the current 50/50 win loss matchmaking system the casual players would not progress and you would lose all of them which means no farming of pugs by pre made which means more QQ’ing by the “pros” which makes Anet sad.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I agree with those points
Also maybe make it so that if you are soloq you cannot lose tiers regardless of division while 2,3,4,5man premades you can lose tiers.
Solo queuers are always at a disadvantage and should be compensated for it if soloq is not going to be made available .

Guys so what if he played approximately 30 hours per week for 3 weeks to get legend? The point of the post was the useful knowledge he gained and is willing to post on the forum for us. I definitely don’t have the time to play that much but it’s still good to know how he did it.
I do agree that it’s sad to know that you need to play a particulate class to maximize your chances (well I knew that already)
I only play DH or rev since I don’t like the other classes. My other classes are thief and war but I’m not gonna bring those to spvp.
I play gw2 for fun and being forced to play a class that I have no interest in to be super competitive is never gonna happen for me. I’d rather quit.
Thanks to OP for the post and congrats on legend rank.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Its all rather complex isnt it.
I mean everyone who bought HoT has the right to play any class and any elite in any game mode, WvW, PVE, PVP (ranked, unranked). Yes some are weaker than others but the person playing the weaker build/class be it Warrior, Thief or some experimental build on another class is doing it because he wants to.
Yes you can be upset when you lose a pip and “believe” that its the Warrior or thief or whatever’s fault but to tell that person to reroll or to only play unranked (while you are queueing SoloQ ) is basically putting your enjoyment over his. Now thats all fine and all, just remember that he is putting his enjoyment over yours too. So fairs fair dont you think?
Some players dont like playing other classes. Maybe they always played warrior in every MMO they played. Whatever the reason. If im gonna SoloQ Ranked i fully expect to see many different classes in the team roster.
Full Disclosure (I play DH and REV in PvP) i retired my War because i simply dont enjoy it in pvp anymore.

Part of what I did that seemed to help with the stress of seemingly bad games was start doing exercise when I made one of a small list of mistakes.
Give up a terrain advantage? thats a set of ten. Look at the scoreboard mid game? Another set of 10. Lose a fight I should have won? Another set of 10.
It had two effects.
First. Its incredible stress relief. I stopped getting angry. And when I do get angry it usually disappears pretty quickly.
Second. I started noticing my own mistakes during the match as being more “Real” and its helped my game play ALOT.
If your matches are going badly. Id recommend doing the same or something similar even if its just putting down a tally mark on a piece of paper whenever you do X thing.
Sure it might be your team in a way. But its also likely something you yourself are doing wrong. Even if it seems a small thing. If you do it 3-4 times a game you could be throwing the match without ever realising it.
Ha Nice!!!
i went a little further. 4 evenings per week i ask myself “Gym or GW2 PvP” . Gym wins most of the time. Same benefits
1. I dont get as stressed since im not really PvP’ing as much
2. I get fitter.
:)
I do like your suggestion though!
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Playing 3 games with whatever class in either of the 2 pvp modi is not playing it your way? Sorry, but that is “play it your way” as much as it possibly can get.
i thought it was 3 ranked matches? And i agree thats fine 3 games is easy. I was referring to what the OP said about loging and playing 45 days in a row. If that is incorrect then my bad.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
People have weird ideas of grind. These achievements are definitely not grind.
Anything that forces you to play “daily” or a certain amount per day to get achievements is not “play it your way” as Anet likes to say.
Lucky for me i don’t give a craap about the legendary backpack so it doesn’t effect me but to read about people “stressing” over having to login in daily for 45 days continous etc etc, does not come across as a non-grind game.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Build diversity disappeared when ANET forced you to NOT be able to choose an adept to put in the master slot or a master trait into the GM slot. And of course by locking you into only 3 trait lines.

Or perhaps your chosen form of grind can wait until season 2.
And “The Grind” is in full effect!

Greatsword 3 is an AOE blind.

A person who held a home point for 10 minutes and has 10 points while his team lost the game trying to 4v5 is equal to the same as a person who has 10 points and solo died 15 times trying to take back home.
Points do matter. Learn to rotate.
LOL are you serious? I sure hope you are joking.
The person bunkering home meant the home node was ticking points for the team the whole time. The person dying 15 times trying to take back home didn’t get any points for the team since home belonged to the enemy team.
smh.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
They say it doesn’t matter because they think it doesn’t it matter. Whatever stance you take on score, whether it’s closer to one extreme (“Best score = best player always!”) or the other (“Score means absolutely nothing ever!”), there are going to be plenty of exceptions to that rule. In my opinion, it’s more beneficial to look at GW2’s relationship between score and skill (and lack thereof) as an opportunity to learn more about the use and misuse of statistics than to attempt to determine a concrete answer on how important or unimportant score currently is in this game.
In my opinion its no different then any team sport. GW2 is no exception. nerds just can’t understand that.
Let me make this easier for you. Look at shutdown corners in football like Darrell Revis or Richard Sherman. Many games, their stats are crap. Why? Because the opposing quarterback completely avoids throwing in their direction.
ok so I guess you agree now that gw2 isn’t any diff from any other team sport? But one difference is, in professional athletic sports, noone goes around saying personal score doesn’t mean anything because of the other factors that go into a team win. That would be silly.
Omg you obviously fail to see how scoring in this game works, more imortantly you fail to listen what ppl are trying to say .
If you are trolling ,gg if you are not i wouldnt wish to have you in my team ever.As for basketball comparsion
imagine that every time you pass ball you get score and every time you cross 3p line you get score or if you touch a player you get points. You can collect most points by just runing around touching ppl and crossing the line while you done 0 for the team ..
I guess we know at least one person we need to block so as not to have on our team right?

The inability to not drop divisions is a serious flaw in my opinion where people can literally grind all the way to ruby and then relax knowing they cant drop back down.
They drop down to the beginning at every new season. So even if they manage to get up to division 3 or 4 by grinding (which takes time) the percentage of time they actually spend in those higher divisions is quite small compared to the time they spend grinding their way up.
Ahhh didn’t think about that. Thanks for clarifying.
I still think it should be something like if you lose 5 or 10 games in a row you drop a tier or even a division if you are at the bottom tier of a division.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Honestly, a trap nerf might be a good thing for guardians at the moment.
They’re so powerful vs other glass cannons that the meta shifted to tanky builds, which as it so happened, also counter guardian in general.
False. The meta moved towards bruiser builds because they can tank while outpace in sustained dps most of the burst builds. Traps are almos useless in high level of play due they are predictable, easy to evade and fill slots for other utilities so once they are used the DH remains exposed and vulnerable.
Currently, meditrap is the most solid, well rounded, DH build, and is used broadly in random matches due they are easy to play. But even then, DH are outside the meta and serious matches because they are also SO EASY TO OUTPLAY.
Berserker specs are actually doomed due current iterations of non-DH/guardian classes. Also, the amount of people in random matches which keep entering in cqc against DH even after knowning which is going to happen is outstanding: makes me to belive that no matter the meta, those people will be always prone to lose the matches and to whine whatever the scene is.
You’re definitely right about how easy it is to outplay a DH compared to Mesmer, Rev or Scrapper but I wouldn’t say we’re not a viable 5th pick.
We’ll likely always lose to a rev but that’s the case for everyone. However niche, DH can 1v1 any Rev if we preplace traps near or on point before hand. Out 5th pick may have been taken by some other bunker classes but that’s only because teams are running double ele/mesmer/rev. This popular team comp leaves very little room for anyone.
It’s not that we’re no longer viable, we’re just not popular in this “capture a point first” poor meta.
I play DH and Rev in PvP and i play Power rev with Hammer and its soooooo easy to trigger traps without getting hurt.
If i see a DH standing on point i simply have to use Hammer 3 skill which leaps into the area where i think traps are, triggers them and then it teleports me back out, Boom traps wasted.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
This is my problem as well…
Every time I try to make a burn DH build I end up swapping the LB to something else, like scepter+torch. I think the Longbow is much better in hybrid builds. But If I try to make a hybrid build I end up using less and less condi damage traits/gear such getting a power LB build as a result.
So I do not think LB can be fitted well into a min/maxed burn build.
If you do not min/max than it is petty viable.
I dont recommened LB on a burn build. Burn Guard is better without DH traitline.

Enjoy Sapphire while you can. The way league progression is designed , everyone and i mean everyone will eventually get to Sapphire just by grinding. So Sapphire will the big blob of players of very widely varying skill levels. Right now the players who play a lot of games every day are up in sapphire while the casuals are still languishing in emerald or even amber because either.
1. They are just not good enough to rank up fast enough
2. They dont play many pvp games per day or not even every day so will take some time.
But have no doubt they will be in sapphire at some point. Heck the true grinders will be in ruby also and i would say in another month ruby may not be that good either.
The inability to not drop divisions is a serious flaw in my opinion where people can literally grind all the way to ruby and then relax knowing they cant drop back down.

Unless you are sitting on a point all game as an excuse to score low score means something.
…that you might think that someone holding a point all game is doing it primarily to have an excuse for low score tells a lot about your pvp experience. The idea that you can do it by “AFKing at best” says even more.

Ok, I tried it out with Virtues replacing Zeal. Gotta admit the damage does seem much higher. Build revised to reflect more focus on Virtues and consecrations.
Nice. but now swap out the sword/torch for Greatsword. Drop a purging flames, use GS 5 to pull mobs in and then whirling wrath and giggle at the amount of burn stacks you build up on a group of mobs. (whirling wrath does flaming bolts on a fire field)
I used to do that all day every day in Siverwastes/Orr on my burn guard.

I would love to see the stats for class breakdown in all 3 game modes (PVE/WVW/PVP)
what percentage of players play warrior in these game modes vs pre HoT.
Warriors were nerfed on 23rd June, but with the availability of better spec with HoT, it just put the final nail in the coffin. I know many that that quit playing warriors back in June.
I mained warrior for all of 2015 even after 23rd June, right up till HoT. Now im back to my Guard(DH) (my first toon) and also rolled a Rev. It saddens me that the elite spec is so weak comparatively. Well the entire core needs changing to tie in better with the elite. Or completely change the elite.

Overall I liked more of the traits that Zeal had to offer. If the only thing I get for my build from Virtues is Supreme Justice, Zeal offers symbols a chance to burn, deals additional damage to enemies with burning on them, and adds to condition damage from power.
I’ll keep an open mind and give it a shot though. Thanks for the advice.
You get Supreme Justice which is Virtue of Justice Proc every 3rd hit BUT you also get Permeating Wrath which is your Virtue of Justice passive proc becomes an AOE burn not single target. In PVE on my burn guard (pre HoT, in Silverwastes etc) i found it to be amazing when fighting multiple mobs. You easily get 3K+ burn ticks on every mob in a 240 radius.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
IM not a big fan of the zeal line for a burning build. If you want it for pve then how about going virtues instead of zeal and taking supreme justice and permeating wrath for AOE proc of Virtue of Justice passive every 3rd hit? Those burn stacks build up really really fast on mob groups that way.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
It’s not really a ranking system though, and it’s not really a progression system. It’s frustrating because it’s a little bit of both.
Amber division, for instance, is purely a progression system. Amber doesn’t tell you anything about a player’s ability, only that they haven’t played very much.
Emerald and Sapphire are this kind of hybrid system, where the division ratchet allows everyone to progress eventually. Weaker players will progress through these divisions slowly (the win one, lose one drag) while stronger players will blast through faster, but the rub is that everyone will eventually grind through it. Also, it gets easier to move through these divisions over time, as better / more regular players move into the higher divisions and Emerald / Sapphire are filled only with casuals. Hence, the first week or so Emerald and (particularly) Sapphire are meaningful ratings, but as time goes on they are closer to Amber grind divisions.
Ruby is the first real rating division. You can only progress through Ruby if you are performing, hence your position in Ruby is actually saying something about your ability. The problem is that the bottom of Ruby is the end point of the grind divisions – anyone, with enough time and dedication, will eventually hit Ruby. Hence, by the end of the season in January, Ruby will no longer be a meaningful rating division, but will be a big mix of ‘I am pretty good at this game but do not play a ton’ and ‘I am bronze tier MMR but grinded the hell out of this game’; it’s the serious about PvP badge but doesn’t indicate any amount of skill.
Diamond and Legendary tiers are the only actual rating tiers. Those are the ones that, at the end of the season, will indicate real ability at the game. At least in theory – this is getting diluted by the matchmaking problems of queuing with Amber accounts, meaning that Diamond, at least for season 1, is going to be more indicative of knowing how to game the matchmaking system than of performance. Still, you need to perform well above average for that trick to work, so Diamond and above show some real rating.
TL;DR – divisions are not a rating system, but a hybrid rating / grind system. Amber means you tried sPvP; Emerald means you showed up, while Sapphire and Ruby are indicators that you’ve spent some time grinding out ranks. Only Diamond and Legendary tiers are real indicators of performance.
Pretty much hit that nail on the head. Well written.
