warrior should not get fast hands baseline. weaponswap cooldown is not a class specific thing so it makes little sense to give a class a shorter baseline weaponswap cooldown.

I respectfully disagree since the whole concept of Warrior is to be a master of weapons. So fast hands as baseline is not a completely alien concept for warriors to have.

Anyway this whole thing has been discussed before and i dont want to bring it up again. I will wait till Friday to see what they have in store.

We’ve taken a look at the warrior’s baseline abilities, adjusting cooldowns, damage, and in some cases even functionality. Our goal for this iteration is to give you a bit more to play with in a single weapon set so that the cooldowns feel more active and fun to play around with. Rifle has also seen a bit of a rework, gaining a more defensive nature while retaining its overall purpose of kill-shotting every enemy of Tyria. We’ll also be taking another pass at improving the berserker elite specialization, focusing on increasing its usability in various game modes and promoting more active skill use in trait design. Lastly, we’ll improve the warrior’s ability to sustain themselves in combat.

Please make Fast Hands baseline and do something about Adrenaline loss. Sustain changes will be very welcome.

Amber Pip Rigging

This has been adressed in last weeks balance patch anouncemend. It will be fixed via making the highest division count for all party members e.g. diamond and amber counts as double diamond starting tomorow I think.

Seems like someone is salty about being beaten by a ranger…
(no I’m just kidding, sorry xD)
That’s more an example of team composition at work (judging by meta builds). Red team has a good balance with a bunch of hybrid damage and a solo-que Tempest (which 9 times out of 10 carries anti-projectile/reflect). Blue team has at least 3 projectile-heavy members for their main damage, and much less teamwide boon support, as well as lacking soft CC and condi damage. Plus you got more than 100 points, which is not exactly a blowout…

Im not sure if you are trolling or you really absolutely have no idea what you are talking about. This post is complete craap.

I think if ANET doesnt want to add solo q then something along the lines of what was suggested above.

Adjust rewards based on party size. Make an adjustment to the team MMR when in a party to account for better coordination/voice comms. That way the soloq players either dont lose a pip unless its a complete blowout and the winning team may not even get a pip unless its a complete blowout. Well thats an extreme example but you know what i mean. Just adjust the MMR per additional person in a party.

I still see a problem in the daily profession win achievements. People have played classes they do not know to get the rewards for a long time; but when there’s a PvP league with achievements, they’ll combine both types in one go – play ranked and on classes they do not know.

My suggestion is: change the profession win dailies to a daily profession win in unranked, or a daily win on any profession in ranked, like this:

  • Win an unranked match as Elementalist or Mesmer, or win a ranked match as any class.
  • Win an unranked match as Guardian or Ranger, or win 2 ranked matches as any class.

This will effectively work with the current non-exclusive achievement system and allow 2 achievements for both options.

you can get daily wins in unranked right? (correct me if im wrong)

Or do you mean they want to save time by doing a diff class and in ranked? Well i dont think its Anets job to make life easier for those players just cos they are lazy.

Heck if they are really lazy they can get quick dailies done in those dedicated custom arenas on a class they dont know. They dont even need to do anything other than cap a node.

Unless I am reading this wrong, this sounds horrible for casual/low mmr players who will have to face high ranked players at the start of the season, thus putting them off pvp altogether. It sounds like it is best not to play in the first week of the season at all……. I won’t be.

Exactly. If you are a casual/low mmr player i would highly recommend missing the first week of season 2. That way the better players will have moved several tiers already and you wont have big losing streaks on day 1.

So this means that yes people can queue with lower division but unless its known that they can play at the level of the highest person, why would they want to? Especially if that person is in ruby or higher where a loss can be a major setback.

Thats the point tho. Diamonds were queueing with Ambers to game the system. Of course they used the excuse of “I want shorter queue times” or “i want to pvp with friends and play ranked” when really they wanted more pips on a win and lose less on a loss. Well let’s see how “strong” that friendship is when the diamond risks losing those pips for bringing his amber friend into ranked pvp.

IM betting there will be a lot less of that going on and suddenly those long queue times wont feel so bad after all and neither will unranked look so unappetizing.

NOTE: of course there really are some ruby/diamond players who want to queue with amber friends for “friendship” factor

While you’re at it, how about make it so that if a teammate disconnects at any point, your team doesn’t lose a Pip for losing and you instantly give that teammate who disconnected dishonor. You know, instead of the current system where everyone loses a Pip. I don’t care if he comes back in 1 minute, you fall behind real quick in PvP when you’re doing 5v4.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too gameable. Every team would specify a designated dropper, who’d dc in the event the team started losing.

-Separate pve skills and pvp skills
-In pvp each profession is locked to a fixed set of skills and a specific role (like a moba would)
-Because this would lower the overall quantity of builds, add pvp specific professions (mist themed professions, some could be obtained from gem store, some from crossing league ranks) that would add to the number of player choices.

This is an interesting issue.

I think another route cause to all this imbalance is they way they dumbed down all the pvp stats and trait lines.

There is simply no room for experimenting. Because there are only 3 traits per trait-line now, there is a much bigger chance of x being obvious pick over y, and z. rather than having 5(or was it 6) different options. Most classes are now tunnel visioned into 1-2 builds with little room to customise. This has massively contributed to how ‘meta’ forced this game is.
With less diversity in your playing style options, the less people are going to experiment and create their own builds/styles of play. Now, with Elite specs, that has turned your 6 optional trait specs into 5, because the Elites are pretty much a must. Again, just dumbs down everything and forces people to stay in certain meta builds due to lack of diversity in traits or stats.

what’s the point in 6 trait specs when only MAXIMUM 2 builds are viable from those 6 specs on any class.

Secondly, as was stated above in this post, pvp stats are also dumbed down.

Before, when you could mix and match runes, there was greater flexibility of what stats you wanted. I feel amulets are far too simplistic….forcing everyone to play, pure bunker, pure dps (condi or power).

Not only is there no ‘trinity’ in this game….it’s worse, there is now only 2 viable options. Unfortunately, because of how amulets and runes are balanced, the trade offs between survivability, damage and skill are too greatly favoured towards survivability.

If there are only 2 builds to choose from, bunker or pure dps, and the aim of GW2 PvP is conquest…shock, you get a constant bunker meta.

Every day i wish i could theory craft random, exciting builds for my classes, like the old days. Mix and match runes, stats depending on what traits…. but you cannot. There is no trait diversity now, and all the trait lines are too forced towards certain traits, especially with the elite spec now being imperative instead of optional.

Basically, it’s too easy to find the optimal meta build for any class now because of the lack of any real stat/trait customisations.

I do believe the state of Warrior also took a toll on him. I remember watching his stream when leagues started. He said he was a lifelong Warrior player in every MMO he played and wasnt giving up on warrior. He really tried but ended up having to play tempest. I bet that really got him down too.

Best sPvP Rev build for SoloQ/DuoQ

HI all

Ive played Condi Mallyx and Power shiro/glint builds in pvp, with each obviously having some weakness or another. What i would like to ask the experienced pvp’ers here is which build would you recommend for SoloQ/DuoQ matches. I dont play premade, i mostly solo/duo and even in duo i rarely use TeamSpeak.

Consequently communication between team members can be a little slow. What build should i use that would the most useful in the majority of cases where i dont know the skill or team composition.

I guess the problem is not that, might be that the player is not breaking any rule… might count as a variant of very bad.
Maybe a fix would be to kick them from map even if they have moved some as long as they haven’t left the safe area.

That will just make them afk just outside respawn….no one on enemy team will bother to go after them

HI all. I recently started playing Marauder Hammer Scrapper in PVP and like it a lot. Ive also played a good amount of Condi Rev and a fair amount of power rev. Since my Scrapper is the least ive played, i would like to ask the experienced pvp’ers how they feel scrapper measures up against Rev.

1. Just make it so that you cant party with someone more than 1 division above or below you.

OR

2. As suggested above. Calculate the average MMR of the team and adjust rewards on a per person basis based on your MMR/Division position relative to the average. if you are signicantly above the average you may not get any pips on a win. If you are significantly below the average you may get 2 or 3 pips for a win. (of course the Match making prediction table should be used also to take into account enemy team average MMR/Division).
This should encourage players to team with people of equal skill/rating.

You should be able to queue with who ever you want, there should just be consequences when you play with someone to low.

Which is why i prefer option 2

I’m usually happier when I get a thief on my team than when I get double DHs or double necros.

I dunno. Its harder to find a good thief. Its easy to find a DH that can spam traps on a node.

I stopped taking pvp seriously quite early on and now play for fun. I still want to win of course but i dont rage or get “too” upset if i lose.

After the first week of league season i realised that i didn’t want the back piece enough to grind for it or MMR manipulate for it. Once i accepted that fact i enjoyed my soloq/Duoq matches much much more.

every one forgot the bug on the f3 that makes the DH bloc not only range attacks but also AOE AND MELEE ATTACKS. (and sometimes you can hit him… lol).

just debugg the f3 already!

F3 is not a bug, Read the tooltip. Its working as intended. Just say you want it nerfed.

My guildie whose main is a Thief, switched to DH for pvp and he uses GS/LB. I think he is almost diamond now and he tells me he gets way more damage numbers with the GS and doesnt really care about sw/focus. He is usually doing around 700-1 million damage per match using meditrapper.

Hi I recently started playing Scrapper and really like the playstyle in pvp. My previous classes are DH, Warrior and Rev.

Currently im using the meta Marauder Hammer build and ive been doing ok with it.

I mainly solo or duoQ so my question is for solo/duo is Cele or Marauder better since i cannot know in advance what my team comp is. I dont really like changing builds constantly so which would be the best for a newer player in this mode?

Yeah he probably doesn’t deserve to reach Ruby. But the point is that not everyone is doing it to abuse the system. Anet needs to think of the other situations before making drastic changes.

The problem is , by playing with your friend you are potentially ruining 8 other peoples game experience. These people have no say whatsoever in whether they are ok with this.

Yes you arent doing it intentionally but when there is an identical game mode available that has no negative consequences for duo grouping its rather unfair for you to insist on being able to play with you friend in ranked just because you want to.

The system is way too open to abuse as GW2 has shown and most serious pvp games dont allow cross divisional grouping for that very reason.

Your intentions may be totally honest and all but you are hurting your friend by carrying him and hurting the other players. So basically by being selfish you are potentially hurting 8 other players when you could just be playing unranked.

Another example. I just started playing Engie to get my 3rd profession ranked wins. Now im at the start of a tier in lower division and i could very easily go and queue ranked knowing i cant lose tiers or pips and maybe i get some lucky matches and get carried to my 5 wins fast. But i dont want to kitten my team mates over so im queueing unranked for the time being to learn the class a little so that when i do queue ranked im not a complete liability.

HAHA GG premade fail. Happened to me last night in Temple map. We were full solo queuers vs a premade. The Match Making system must have thought we should lose because i got 2 pips (and a tier) from beating that team.

Mathematically on some conditions it does stack

Lets take burning. Assume you get hit for 4 seconds of burning at 400 Hp per second damage.

Without AA and without Hoelbrak and no condi cleanse you would take the full 4 seconds so 4×400=1600 damage.

AA (alone) would reduce the damage by 20% so you would take 0.8×1600=1280 damage

Hoelbrak (alone, no AA trait) would reduce the duration by 20% so you would take 0.8*4 sec=3.2 sec of burning which is 3.2*400=1280 damage

Now combined AA with Hoelbrak. First of all you would reduce the duration by 20% so you would take 3.2 seconds of burning.
Then you would take 20% less damage so 0.8×400=320 per second damage

Combines that 3.2×320=1024.
This is a 36% reduction in condition damage. Not quite stacking but pretty close.

So… how and why is this allowed?

I came from WoW and it’s has some broken stuff too but this is like next level. People paying $40 for HoT to play meta builds and have amber rank to boost their main teams should be considered a real exploit.

What’s your thoughts. Does it seem right for people to do this?

League Professional achievment

I did mine while in Emerald.

IDK if i’m missing something, but you have to repeat this same achievement 4 times, not just once.

Ascension part 1 is 2 different professions, and Ascension part 2 through 4 are all 5 wins on 3 different professions.

You have no idea how frustrating it is to play a game with a class you’re not familiar with in a high tier enviroment.

Play the different classes earlier on and the lovely 50/50 win/loss match making algorithm should eventually let you get your 5 wins. If you do this at the start of a tier in the lower divisions you will not lose any pips/tiers.

Each season your division will get reset so do them at the start of next season.

I would hardly consider DH overpowered and too strong in this meta. Traps are easily mitigated by classes with lots of evades and invulnerabilities. Hell, on my ranger I just let my pet trigger the traps and that is that. There is a tradeoff to taking so many traps as well. A DH’s survivability goes to kitten once you take more than one trap.

The Longbow is strong yes, but the longbow is also slow. And the number 2 is so easy to dodge and is a long cast time. The Longbow has its tradeoffs, which is long cast times and the slowness of it.

My Main is a DH but i also play Rev and in the last few days i started playing Marauder Scrapper. Honestly DH works really really well against low tier players. Its incredible how many players see my DH standing on point but still run right up to me and try and melee, triggering all my traps.

Having played DH a lot i have very little problem facing them with my Rev or my Scrapper.

Rev Hammer 3 or Staff 5 can trigger traps while evading all the damage.
Scrapper has stability on demand to get out of traps and has an amazing low CD reflect on hammer 2 to throw that True Shot back in the DH face.

Class can only be used for matchmaking/MMR purposes if ANET prevents people from switching classes once they get into the PvP map otherwise everyone will Queue with their weakest class (one they have lost every match they have ever played) and then once they enter map they switch to their main.

Rev PvP Build question

i really really like Hammer 2, and Hammer 3, its such fun to see the big numbers and i agree it should be situational on team and map but i solo and duoq a lot and a lot of the time I’m stuck in a melee fight defending a node in a 1v1 or 1v2. Thats where the Healing from Staff 4, the block from staff 3 and the rush/knockdown from staff 5 can help me get out of a sticky situation or help me bunker till my team mates arrive.

I prefer Power Rev. Either Sw/S & Staff or Sw/S & Hammer work. Having more fun with Hammer actually, being able to attack from a distance is really nice

They are actually pretty useless vs me, since Hammer 3 actives and evades them all

If you use staff instead of Hammer you can use Staff 5 skill right from the edge of the node (usually DH drops traps right in the middle). The rush and evade from Staff 5 will carry you right over the full length of the cap and you will be on the other side and have already triggered the traps.

Playing the other classes in PVE doesnt really count that much. Yes it helps a little but you need to play them in PvP to really know how they work.

Yeah they want to highlight the “im queuing with friends and i want lower Q times”

They don’t want you to focus on the REAL benefit where they get 2 pips on a win and only lose 1 on a loss. And if their “friend” is actually a diamond level player on an alt account its even more of a manipulative tactic with odds very much skewed in their favor.

Shorten match time?

the shorter the time the less chance of a comeback. I like the current match times because ive been in matches where were started off badly and managed to pull ourselves together and fight our way back to a win. We wouldnt be able to do that in shorter matches. Vice Versa i’ve lost matches because our team got complacent and let the enemy catch up.
