Finally, this topic is now officially finished. Hopefully Anet can now move on to improving wvw in all sorts of other ways. Looking forward to seeing what else they might have tweaked in dbl when it shows up, again.

All a moot point, now. Dbls were voted to stay in the game by almost a 2-1 margin. And now, 2 abl, 1 dbl will be our bls for wvw. Glad this topic is now done, and the wvw team can move on to other wvw priorities.

I hate to break it to you, it will never be done. Every week you will come to accept players complaining about the DBL, either being in the game or not, or rotation, or not FOREVER. Since this was something so divided in the community, it is not ever going to end now.

If there is a mass exodus due to the dbl again, then they will right back at square one to remove it .. again. No matter what happens with the polls they certainly are not going to let that decision kill their game…. unless it actually kills the game mode and everyone leaves anyway.

If they had actually had WvW player involvement prior to making it and releasing it, it would be a very different map.

It makes me chuckle how every other server is a “bad” one until you actually know people on them. I hear stories about pretty much all other servers.. .most anyway and people talk smack.. I will never understand it. I mean if people on other servers are anything like me they might be in trouble ‘cause I’m the very best at being bad! bahaa

I have been on both FA and NSP, and they were both very fun servers, as well. FA was an absolute crack-up. Our time spent paired with TC was also good, as most there were also very nice/fun. My saying that Kaineng was so much fun was just a reflection on me spending most of my time there, and not meant to be disparaging to any other servers.

I main Guard, and usually don’t run anything else in WvW. So if you see me, I’ll be that guardian that charges alone into the blob as Crummy tells “fake push”. Every single time. Then the TS will be full of laughter, it seemingly never gets old :p

It is this sort of stuff that makes Kaineng such a fun server to be a part of.

Yea, I really don’t care which option wins, I just thought that the mixed bls was a better compromise for those that hated dbls, and I voted for that. But, I got to enjoy dbls just after their tweaks and right before Anet pulled them, so I am personally good with both bls, either mixed or on a quarterly rotation.

No need to sweat about it, Hex, unless it drops to around 72% or less.

Know the feeling, I got a bit sensitive hearing myself, so I can manage at most 30 minutes with TS, and then I just need to shut all sound off or I get a headache.

But I do like dropping in every now and then when the guild is actually trying to do something other than using the TS as drunken karaoke bar. :p

The map/team chatter was kind of like that last night….lol. And I usually end up not running TS, but since I am a backline support character, if I just pay attention, I can usually tell if the leader is calling for a push, or if we’re moving on, or baiting another group, or whatever. It is all good fun.
I mainly just try to make sure I don’t screw up…..lol.
My wife also had a ton of fun running with the same group last night…..she has a nasty ele, and said several times how helpful the group was in keeping her and other nukers alive.

I actually never got into TS. I think I remember seeing a holler on map chat about what channel, but Crummy was moving super fast, and my computer is a bit finicky about TS….gotta get out of the game, setup my headset, and then get into TS, and then back into the game. If I had done that, there would have been no catching up with the group, again. So I just tried to pay close attention and stick close to the group.

Plus, they were chattering a lot on team and map chat, and that helped.

No idea what server you’re on, but if you happen to be on Kaineng reach out to either of the guilds I’m in (SIN and Owls) they’re great for taking in new WvW’ers and showing them the ropes, and generally focus on roaming/havocing.

If you’re on Kaineng, SIN and Owls are really good wvw guilds that we have on the server. Lots of fun and lots of help.

The best place to start is to actually try to become a part of the WvW community. This is not Single player and Not PvE, and that should be understood from the go.

So look at it this way, you just walked out onto the court in the middle of a basketball game grabbed the ball and started scoring for the other team and wonder why people are yelling at you.

Not sure where to post this but seems like this is as good a place as any.

So we are linked with 3 other servers. I see commanders running the BL’s and not typing in the message box so they are definitely in TS. Three times now I have asked for the TS channel and received zero responses. Joining the squad isn’t much use when 99% of the communication is in TS. In EB I tried to join a squad that was closed so couldn’t of course. Joined the other squad and asked a couple times what TS they were using with no response…. So I have to ask.. is it because I’m not in the ‘right’ server that no response is coming? or is it just bad luck last night? Sadly it seems like the groups are staying tight to their server lines for the most part. So I roamed a lot… then I saw messages complaining that people were roaming and should be on tag… chuckle ah what do you do? I continued to roam of course..

Oh my goodness! I’m Kaineng (Owl Legion) and a TS admin – please message me in game Balth, I’ll watch out for you when I’m on. You are more than welcome to run around with us and join our TS anytime. By the way we will never berate folks for roaming; Roaming = Life.

Also, to our partners: Owls squads are usually open so if you see our flock, please feel free to join up. You will see our tags on weekends and evenings, often in borderlands. Incidentally, our guild is having a delightful time with this linking and it feels really great to be here.

Had a great time tonight in a SIN havoc group. Been awhile since I have seen those guys, as I have been transferring around some. Good to join up with one of our better known Kaineng groups and run around causing all sorts of probs. Great fun!

It will be just below 75% for the final tally, because the DBL haters are trying to sabotage the vote, so that they can say afterwards…..“See? We told you so!!!! The game will now die!!!” Or something equally as absurd.

Frankly, I don’t care if it does revert to a quarterly rotation. I just think the 2 abl, 1 dbl option is the best compromise.

That may be what you wish for, but as Crise, Liston, and others here have said….YES, that ship has sailed. It will be a mixed bl, and you dbl haters will still have the chance to avoid it at all costs. Some stadiums have configurations that create difficult wind conditions. Teams choose personnel in part based upon these factors and teams that don’t practice or play often in the conditions they have play in at an away game are at a disadvantage.

Yup, they don’t have the time to build new systems for a completely new game mode at the moment, still need to upgrade the old stuff we have, wvw, spvp, dungeons, fractals, then living story soon, new legendaries some time this century, new raids, new expansion, when they’re quite clearly shown they can’t work on all of the above at the same time.

It’ll be nice to have battlegrounds at some point though, if they can manage to do something bigger than 5v5.

I have to agree with those that posted that the OP’s suggestion is basically a new game……not wvw in GW2. Too late to make this sort of game mode change in GW2, as it would appeal to a completely different set of players.

Op’s suggestion would work much better in a game that was being developed with WvW as a major part of the game, rather than an afterthought….as Anet did it. I could maybe see the down the road ‘Camelot Unchained’ being able to do something like what the OP suggests.

When our main zerg is stuck in a life-or-AoE fight with 4W’s own zerg, team/map chat is covered with “help at this place” messages. They clearly have many more roaming teams than we do (which is excellent) and very efficient ones i may say. i remember seeing our 3 top alpine camps being seized in the span of 2 minutes while our main force kept losing ground to the invaders.

Before the links Kaineng’s population for WvW had fallen pretty low. We never had numbers to fight a zerg, so the guilds that remained got very good at splitting into Havoc Teams and hitting multiple targets at once. One team would probably get steamrolled by the enemy zerg, but that allowed the other 2 or 3 to get their objectives.

This tactic is serving us VERY well with the new 5 minute tick. 15 was too long, but 5 may be too short. Not sure. Think maybe there should be a small window to flip it back before the tick. Maybe 7 minutes… or reduce RI to 3 or 4 minutes.

Yes. I’m still asking for a TS in Team/Map and no one has one. Right now we are getting by mostly on guild teams knowing what they are doing a sheer numbers. I see tags, and they know what they are doing in team chat, but we still don’t get any voice going.

I’ve considered adding a 2-month expiring link to the TACOtalk Discord server and advertising that just to see if I can get us into one chat… but being as TACO is still a tiny little known guild, I doubt it would work.

Maybe if [Owls] set one up…

I seem to remember us having a Kaineng TS channel on a large TS server awhile back.

I am from Kaineng, and this crazy linking has been tons of fun, so far. Fights of all types everywhere……and pretty much at all times.

Right now, our linking is dominant……but as a few have already posted, some of the servers in our linking came from high up tier linkings from last week….so some of us are a bit stacked. I agree with those other posters that that will change in the next week or two, as people move to other servers again. Right now, I think the matchup would have been more competitive if DH had one of our servers.

But yea….heck of a lot of fun out there!!

I’ve said as much about DH needing a bit more help by having one of your 4 servers pair up with DH. The point count blowout at this stage will likely cause some of your opposition players to do something else until they see how the next matchup will look, which means your fights will dry up as the remaining players end up severely outnumbered. It’s like the 4 server group is the BG of T4. Hope I’m wrong but time will tell.

I don’t think the fights will dry up. If anything, I expect the next week to be closer in score. And the week after that, etc.

But I agree, in that it would be perfect if DH had one of our servers. Hopefully Anet will learn from this pairing like they did from the last one.

Some surveys, yes. Other approaches combine surveys with more involved interviews with a smaller subset of the sampling universe to better interpret survey responses. Triangulation via non-survey data is better still.

But which approach to use depends on what you’re trying to achieve. On the question of whether to keep dbl in rotation, why should Anet care so much about why people want it when the cost of probing that brings little gain but would inevitably lead to considerably fewer responses to the central question?

Anet is basically holding referenda here, not conducting behavioral research. It’s for that reason that their methodology is perfectly acceptable, and even superior to what you seem to want them to do.

It’s funny to sad how much WvW is becoming EotM. In EotM there’s two types of play, K-Training or Bag Farming. Now in WvW it’s basically coming down to people wanting to full blown either K-Training or Bag Farming too. Long live EotM 2.0
