Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.
-Zenleto-
I still solo roam on my ranger/druid. Sure, I get rolled a lot, but I still manage to have fun. I tend to get bored running with zergs real quickly. Solo roaming is a heck of a lot more challenging, imo. And as some others have posted…I tend to solo roam later in the evening, and not at peak hours.
Although, tbh, the last couple weeks I have been taking a little break and playing more ESO.
I play all game modes, I played extensively on every wvw tournament. I play only for rewards, I have 7K hours in gw2 and 8K hours in gw1. I’ve played over 10 mmos since 2001 and I’ve been playing games for 25 years, that sum it up for u guys?
The bolding is mine. I would say that pretty much sums it up….bet you have been disappointed in just about every mmo you have ever played, if you just play for rewards/shineys. (Ugh, that would bore the heck out of me…just playing for rewards..and fyi, I have been playing mmos since the 90s and video games since the 80s…..although I don’t see how that has any relevance to anything…lol)
not really? There are lots of rewards in all mmo’s. My favorite rewards are the ones that are gated behind a reasonable grind and require a tremendous amount of personal skill to obtain. This gives you a combination which requires you to be a highly skilled player who is consistently skilled over a period of time. Rewards obtained from this type of content are my favorite, because they are hard to get.
I don’t like unreasonable grinds that are mindless and time consuming and are based on nothing, such as grinding for wvw rank.
Fair enough. I have known a lot of friends in mmos that play like that. 15-20 years ago, I was more into that, as well. But at my advanced age for an mmo player now(58 years old), and with the limited amount of time that I play…..I pretty much just play for the sheer fun of it anymore, and to socialize with my friends in the guild I belong to. Cool drops, earned bling, unintended rewards are just added gravy, imo, anymore. Sure, I notice when I get another wvw or pvp level, and when my ap level dings….but I don’t consciously try to grind stuff out anymore. Last time I did that was the 10 years that I played Dark Age of Camelot, and I eventually found that doing that decreased my enjoyment of the game.
I actually get more of a kick out of seeing what others in the guild have earned with their grinds…lol.
I never really gave much attention to the added rewards in wvw. That’s not why I am there. I play it for the fun of it, not to grind out some shinys.
Hello all,
One reason I left PvP for WvW was due to the level of toxicity is less in WvW. Sur eyou get the occasional idiots that jump on dead bodies (even when in an outnumbered situation) or throw siege, laugh, or teabag. It still isn’t as bad as PvP.
I have always tried to WvW with respect. I will /bow at the end of good fights to show this respect.
I may get salty whispers from time to time, however nothing short of amusing when I do get them. Still better than PvP.
Last night, there was a good fight where it was a 2v3 (we were 3) in our camp, and the 2 (DPS reaper and rifle scrapper) did very well. They downed 2 of us, almost 3 (i barely survived) and took out a bunch of NPC’s as well. I did my /bow and got a whisper.
I was expecting a salty whisper but it was an appreciation whisper for showing respect to them. I was floored that someone actually took my /bow for how it was meant. Even made a new friend out of it. Later in the night, /bow a DH that I downed by his zerg (bailed as they were rushing me to rez him), saw him later when I was afk (cleaning inventory) and his zerg was taking the camp i was near. He didnt attack, just jumped around me. I was startled so I bailed, he dropped traps somewhere and I (i knew they were there but forgot?) and triggered them, dropped and he came up to me, waved, then left me to res.
First time(s) I saw mutual respect in WvW. I loved it. Sure i got more bad whispers of salty ppl but those 2 acts were the best things I have experienced (that, and a wicked portal bomb into lords room that I set up a long time ago…that was also awesome).
TL:DR; Some people are morons, and some people are worth the respect you give them in WvW.
Anyone else have any awesome experiences from opposing players?
Those sorts of experiences are few and far between….but yea, I have experienced a few. Makes you smile a lot when it happens. And yea, I always try and show respect after good fights, whether I win or lose.
My most recent experience of that nature didn’t even involve fighting. I was messing around roaming late, late one night several weeks ago….things were pretty slow, so I went out to pick up a few miscellaneous dailies. Was coming up on this enemy sentry, and just before I got to him, noticed this enemy player approaching it as well….we both stopped short of the sentry and waited to see who would attack first….neither of us did, so we both slowly approached the sentry and then killed it together and waited around to get the daily, then backed off and bowed to each other before heading off in our own directions. It was very late, and I was tired….otherwise I probably would have attacked the enemy player…..in the end it was just a nice, unique experience of cooperation(even though we didn’t need to as sentries are ezpz). I got a good chuckle and smile out of it….(the enemy player must have been tired, too….lol)
And fwiw, have also experienced this same sort of thing when taking a camp solo and a solo enemy player has come in and helped…..only has happened a couple times in several years, and has almost always been really, really late.
Fun when it happens, but 98% of the time it is kill or be killed, and then show respect if it was a good battle.

If you only play for reward, I can’t take your criticism seriously. Why should I even care since you obviously do not care about the game mode? This game mode is not for you or playing it would be the reward in itself.
I’ve always said in the past that the relatively poor reward was what protected WvW from EoTM players and farmers. Now, the carrot is too shiny and here we are…
I have to agree with this. Wish I had more time to play wvw, but I could care less about the pips/shineys. Yea, the game mode needs some tweaks, but the game mode itself is the only reason I play it….just for the sheer fun of it.

I understand the frustration of being badly outnumbered. No matter where you go it seems as if there is a half dozen enemies waiting to pounce. The frustration gets to the point that you have to vent. You exaggerate. Others call you out on the exaggeration and you get more frustrated. Frustration leads to stubbornness and you fly headlong into enemy groups again and again, getting more frustrated each time.
Take a step back.
Take a deep breath.
Rethink your approach.
It is very possible to earn pips on an outnumbered map. I LOVE the extra pips, but not enough to go looking for the outnumbered buff.
Change up your approach a bit. Think it through before leaving spawn. Strategize. Come up with contingencies. THEN hit the field.
Your blood pressure will be better and you will love the increased rate at which you can gain pips.
…regardless, and for what its worth, my apologies for the tone of my previous posts in this thread.
Great post.
Wish I had your patience and empathy.
You get credit for killing anything that’s not a neutral. Even if you lose, you can just kill guards. I mean, I got 50% of level 1 by getting a single kill.
If you tag someone and die, you’ll still get credit if someone else kills them.
Hence the bizarre tactic of finding 2 opposing groups and trying to tag them.
Go around killing guards. When someone takes the objective in the future, you still get credit…
You’ve never been on an outnumerbered server have you? You can’t kill guards if there are 40 people waiting to kill you at every camp and every tower.
I have. This morning. We were driven into spawn. For about 15 minutes I got a total of 2 kills. (1from pulling someone into spawn lol). It got better after a while due to attrition.
Honestly I don’t get why people complain about spawn camp. In other games peopke kill you just as you respawn. That is why it is unfair. Here, you can abuse the invul as well as multiple exits.
Post a screenshot of the enemy seevers camping all exits across all 4 maps, and maybe I will consider.
40 people at every camp and tower on the map??? LMAO!!!!
Yea, I would like to see screenshots of that, as well….but I won’t hold my breath.

And I’m sorry, but no, being rewarded for fighting in WvW is not silly. If you really think it is silly, then stop fighting so much that you reach tier 3 particpation to prove it.
Sorry, but that is NOT what I posted. You completely missed my point. /shrug
In any case, I am still not sure why you’re having such a problem getting pips. I have been part of the outnumbered as well as being on the side that is outnumbering, and haven’t had much trouble getting pips out there, whether I am in a zerg or roaming or somewhere in between.
But then again, getting pips isn’t the reason I play wvw, so it is not all that important to me.
(edited by Teon.5168)
I do think that fighting and dying to enemy players is participating. Why do you think fighting and dying to enemy players is not participating?
Charging headlong into a zerg with no possibility of success is no more actual participation than is choosing to run off a cliff. Its suicide.
Actually its worse than running off a cliff. Suicide via zerg is actively aiding the other side. Why should treason be rewarded?
Completely agree. If anet made it so that you got pips and xp for merely engaging the enemy, there would be all sorts of players coming to wvw with no actual interest in wvw, but with interest in the pips and rewards. There would be bunches of players merely running out of the portal to their deaths over and over and over again farming pips.
Sorry, but that is just a plain silly idea, imo, schlake.
But how would a program be able to tell? I mean, you could technically run into a massive enemy zerg, get one hit in(“fighting against a player”) before getting rolled…..and you think a player should get xp and pips for that??
Neighborhood bar, for a beer.
Maybe some peanuts too.
This. The Quaggans have been running a real popular bar and grill for years, and the harpies are loyal regulars.
So let me see if I got this right…..according to your op, I could technically run out of portal into a mass of enemies, get rolled, and continue to do this for awhile….and then I should get pips and xp for doing this?
Thanks, Chaba. That clears up the confusion for me.
I and several other guildies also experienced lots of dcs last night. I ran some partial diagnostics on my machine last night, made sure all my crucial drivers were updated, even made sure Win10 had its latest update, and it sure doesn’t seem to be at my end. I can’t see the amount of dcs happening to be something coincidental among so many others. And have had these sorts of issues before with patch days. We all just said, "ah well, it’s patch day’…..lol. And yea, it usually clears up pretty quickly after patch days.
If it happens again tonight, I will be sure to send a report to Anet.
Who cares about pips? I don’t. I just want to have fun out there. If I am smiling and laughing while I am playing wvw, then all is right with the world.
You need to read the latest patch notes for wvw.

World vs. World
General
Simple nameplates for enemies have been changed to triangles instead of circles, making it easier to distinguish between enemies and allies.
The Loyalty pip has been renamed to the Commitment pip. The Commitment pip is obtained by completing wood division the previous week.
1 up / 1 down matchmaking:
Starting this Friday at reset, WvW will begin doing 1 up / 1 down matchmaking. This means a single, third-placing world will move down one tier and a single, first-placing world will move up one tier. If there is a tie for last, no world moves down, which also means no world in the tier below can move up (as there’s no room). Similarly, if there is a tie for first, no world moves up, which prevents the next tier up’s last-place world from moving down. If there is a change in which worlds are being used for matchmaking purposes (such as when world links change), matchmaking falls back on the usual Glicko rating sort (plus a potential deviation-based shuffle). Even while 1 up / 1 down is active, Glicko data will continue to be updated as it has been when each week’s round ends. This way it is always current when it needs to be relied upon.
This is a new test to try to improve how quickly worlds can move into their proper place.
We can revert back to Glicko if it is determined that the new matchup style is more harmful than helpful.

Yea, roaming is pretty tough against a server like BG, (our matchup this week), as they have the numbers to have excellent coverage on all maps. We just don’t have the numbers to have anywhere close to the kind of coverage they do.
Some good points, Cerby.
I am hoping you’re correct, Sylvyn. But I could see the 1up, 1down also affecting the groupings in a way that Anet had not considered. I won’t mind if it takes Kaineng down a notch, but if they go, “well, that lowbie should be grouped with a higher T1”…..well, then, it will suck bigtime, imo.
Mainly, I am just hoping that we never, ever have to see BG again. This week has just sucked, as we just don’t have anywhere close to the numbers to compete with them. And that is all I want to be able to do…..compete. I don’t care if we lose, as long as we can be competitive. Battles aren’t fun when you’re consistently outnumbered 3-1 or worse.
And I am not even mentioning how sucky small havoc or roaming is when the enemy has the sort of coverage and defense that a T1 server has for all areas of the map at pretty much any given hour.
I can’t even see how BG is having much fun in this matchup, considering their complete dominance.
Guess we’ll see.
(edited by Teon.5168)
Haven’t seen this addressed, yet….maybe it already has, and my apologies if so…..
I understand how the new 1up, 1down sytem is supposed to work for the matchups…..
But, how will it work for the pairings? Currently, Kaineng is grouped with TC and GoM.
Say Kaineng has a really bad week…..would we then get grouped with a lower server due to the 1up, 1down?
Just curious, as I could see some potential problems with this in the groupings.
Comments?
there is an rng roll +- 100 to the glicko roll when matchmaking occurs. Since servers 2-8 are within 100 they can swap places based on the RNG gods.
Don’t feel bad, you rng rolled T1 one week, we are on week 2 of too big for us……
True, but we should at least get a mulligan or something. Pretty much all of the regular WvW players are calling it quits this week.
Yup….whenever we get paired up against a T1 server, most everyone spends that 3 weeks doing pve or other game stuff.
After a couple hours out there, it just gets to be super pointless. Although I must admit that it is hilarious fun when you come upon the occasional zerg with mostly new wvw’ers in it.
I don’t get it.
According to the leaderboards, our server is 6th place, YB is 5th, and BG is 1st, yet we are are all paired against each other in this weeks match. So ANet considers it fair to pit the 1st, 5th and 6th against each other, while the 2nd place JQ fights at 3rd tier, and 3rd place fights at 2nd tier.
From the wiki: “high-ranked worlds will battle other high-ranked worlds, and low-ranked worlds will battle other low-ranked worlds.” But this does not appear to be so.
The only thing I can think of that would compound this is the linking system. JQ, BG, and Maguuma are unlinked while the others all. I realize that this would also lock at least these 3 servers in Eternal Battle and get quite boring, but how is it fair to pit lower servers against higher? Is this just for amusement, to give BG easier pickings?
Since reset, TC has been constantly outnumbered and overly dominated, and queues are empty. However last week, I never saw outnumbered and queues were full daily, and most importantly, fights were fair.
I hear ya. Am on Kaineng, and we’re paired with TC, and seeing BG again is just mind boggling.
I think Anet actually wants people to get disinterested in wvw……lol.
Seriously, the matchups make absolutely no sense sometimes. LOL….not that I don’t still try….but the fun factor doesn’t last long against BG.
Looks like it 3 weeks of some part time wvw mixed with checking out some of my neglected games.
I concur. The changes were all very postive and I do hope that some of those new players remain. It has changed quite a bit as there always seems to be more people around no matter the BL.
Completely agree. Wvw has been a ton of fun since the patch, despite the huge queues at times.
Although, I find the entire pip system pointless. It will be popular for a month or two, and then the players who truly spend all their time in wvw won’t give a hoot about it, if they ever did.
I am no hardcore wvw player. I am just casual and low level, but it is the main thing I do. I already find the entire pip system pointless. (Ok, some of the guild decorations are cool, if your guild is into that)
Maybe when the loyalty bonuses actually happen, and someone gets a free legendary, then I might go, “WTF!!??!!”
All kidding aside, I think that the wvw update has been very successful, overall.
It has brought a ton of people out into wvw.
Now, if they would just update and add some servers to handle the lag of the added players…..well, yea, that would be cool.
(edited by Teon.5168)
As has been said on the forums several times already, give it a couple weeks and the queues will diminish a lot. I am already seeing it, even on reset nights.(It is getting earlier and earlier in the later hours after reset to find really small queues).
Of course, it might be different on T1. But, I have no desire to play on T1(have already for some length of time, and it is just mindless zerging all the time) And when I was on T1, queues seemed to be pretty constant and consistent.
And on T2/T3, roaming and small havoc squads are still a lot of fun. You just have to be a bit more careful and creative.
I have rarely run into this when playing wvw. However, when I do, I just mark them down as a commander not to follow.
That being said, the commander tag has the right to kick or keep any classes they might like/not like in their squad. /shrug
Currently to get any of the gear in WvW if you were to start at level 1 now and try to get to 1500 it would take a year and a half.
In WoW an expansion comes out, but it doesn’t take a couple years to get the new gear it only takes a couple months which is alot more reasonable.
Think the Anet Devs need to take in consideration that the rate of which people will level will actually be exponentially slower due to queues and less play time because of the fact of limited time to play.
What can be done? Add a solution to fix the over population maybe a new map. lower the rank req to atleast 1000.
i agree completely, I’d like to attain this armor sometime this year, otherwise this is just another unrealistic korean mmo grind
Just curious…..do you play wvw for rewards?
I only do content for rewards, if there is no rewards i usually don’t play the content. I like treasure what can i say. I do all types of content though and play all game modes I do enjoy it sometimes, but a lot of it is tedious in my opinion and a lot of my enjoyment comes from getting rewards.
Fair enough. I got no problems with that. People play the game for different reasons.
Best of luck!
I would tend to agree with Indigo…..that probably has a lot to do with it.
That being said, I got in no prob later, as there were no queues, or very small ones.

WOW….. complete barf (And yea, I have played it……long ago…hated it…I would rather play Everquest)
LOL…quite funny…..actually, a bunny rabbit running around in all sorts of different directions with no goal would be good, too.
(Talking about commander tags that are obviously completely new to wvw)
well you are waiting you can always go onto a different map. T1 had 4 maps queued but the longest i waited tonight without actually being in wvw was not voer 5 min. go in the emptiest map then que for whatever you want.
All of our maps were queued…..we initially got in EB, because it was the smallest of the bunch….but all our maps were queued……so we had no choice….as they were all about the same size later. (and if you were wondering, yea, the wife and I have been here since almost the beginning, and I have been playing wvw for awhile, so we do know about queue jumping as you suggested)
Another hour, and it will empty out.
(edited by Teon.5168)
I am a casual player, mostly wvw, and I don’t give a hoot about the rewards. I don’t play wvw for rewards…..I play it because it is a hilarious blast most of the time.
I certainly can see the points about needing to bring new blood in and keep it….and yea, might be a good idea to reduce it some to get and keep new blood.
But like I said, even if I was a super high rank, I still probably wouldn’t care at all about it. My main has the gear he needs, and wvw is a blast, so I am good.
Sorry if this has already been talked about…..the search engine sucks here, so I don’t even use it anymore.
So wife and I signed in tonight, got into the 40+ EB queue, and after about 25 minutes, got in. So we zerged around for a bit….then after 30 minutes or so, we got bored zerging and wanted to get on the bls. So, we got out and got into the 25+ queue for TC.
And we waited….and waited……and waited…..still at 24……..
So after 30+ minutes, we logged(as we both hated wasting our xp boosters we had turned on for EB earlier)…
Then got in again, queue at around 20……
Waited….waited……waited…….no progression…..
Logged out, then back in….queue at 15……rinse and repeat.
My question is, as there was a small path today……anyone else having similar problems? And is it that the queue is bugged, or is it actually progressing, but not showing it?
Will try much later, as wvw is always quieter late.
Start with improving the lag issues, now that is something that would attract new players and keep the old ones from leaving. Peace.
Couldn’t agree more with this statement. The lag has been much worse since the update went live. (and yea, I realize that it is mainly from increased numbers out there)
It gives you defense credit for spending any supply. You don’t need to put 10.
Obviously don’t do it for walls that are being trebbed. Probably add a note. Although I’d like to point out someone just flipping camps is going to have plenty of supply on hand not from said objective.
Also if there is limited supply in the area being contested, as that is usually desperately needed for any defense siege that might be needed. (arrow carts come to mind)
(edited by Teon.5168)
4) Repair objectives that are contested even if you are just passing through, 10 supply spent will give you credit for the defense of the objective, and it will also give you wxp for the repair itself. You dont need to stand there fixing the wall completely, spend your supply and move on. Of course if you want, repair it completely, even if people are yelling at you to not waste supply, since its WXP you are after, not their approval.
Stop giving grief tips. This is kitten and only animating people for pull out the mats from objectives which are under attack. The WXP outcome isn’t also worth for it.
There are some instances when repairing a wall for the xp is ok(if there are multiple walls down, or if noone is around in an active battle for the area)……but yea, one should normally leave the walls alone if there is a huge battle going on and map chat is saying not to repair things.

Do you need the new shinies to play the game?
Does not having them give you a massive disadvantage over those that do?
For the record, I haven’t even cracked 1,000 in rank after four years, and I still stand behind Anet doing this.
I don’t know about you, but I look much classier in shiney stuff lying dead on the battlefield.
Oh I find I scout my best in the prone position.
LOL…..actually, there is some truth to that….lol.
Do you need the new shinies to play the game?
Does not having them give you a massive disadvantage over those that do?
I don’t know about you, but I look much classier in shiney stuff lying dead on the battlefield.
Was running with my guild the other night and got several chains of WXP potions out of chests, so I opened one, got another, opened the next, another. Ended up with like 30 levels. – Must have been incredible luck for me.
Mine came without opening any chests I got, but you make a good point…..I hadn’t even thought about that.
Oh, I realize that. It just seemed a lot quicker than normal a couple nights back. And like I said, might just be my imagination.
Nice, clear, concise guide for those that might not be terribly familiar with wvw.
So the thing here is that people mock others for having too high of a rank (EOTM) and then mock people for having too low of a rank for not wxp enough.
That seems to be a correct assessment, imo.
Was out in wvw the other night, running my normal boosters, running with a small havoc pug……and the ranks I got in the short time I was out there seemed to come a lot faster than normal.
Might just be my imagination. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?
Increasing map limits will be the worst thing possible, already as is the maps keep crashing add more people the game will be unplayable. Just ride it out till the PvE players get bored of waiting months to get reward
I don’t even think it will take that long. I give a couple weeks, tops, until things start to normalize again, somewhat.
The worst thing about the wvw update and the increased numbers out there, imo, is the insufferable skill lag at times….something that I rarely had to deal with before the patch.
Regular WvW player since launch. And nowadays WvW is all I do. Period. Every day.
I cant say that I care much for the rewards. I think I got 7 sets of ascended armors and asc weapons for all chars to go with them. As do a lot of us. Almost everything crafted (I never get good loot so I make my own things, easy solution). What else do I need?
I got no need for a WvW backpiece or flashy armor with the exact same stats that I already got several sets of. I just want fun fights on the borderlands.
This might shock some but a lot of us already got all the equipement we need and thousands of gold in the bank never being used on anything else than food or siege. Or maybe a nice new skin once in a while to fresh things up a bit.
We just want a good balance between classes and a healthy population. Then leave everything else to us players.
But the last thing we need, is something that make every pve player that never play WvW regularly to flood all borderlands for months. Some of us work all day and usually come home to play around prime time. And then stay up late playing.
Luckily I got a life so I will do something else, I wont be affected much by this. I got other games to play if I want and friends and family to hang out with. But I got no time for queing for 2 hours after coming home from work. So I am very much excluded atm. Nice, after putting down so many thousands of hours.
Excellent post, and I agree with most of it.
Fwiw, I only think it will take a week or two for the queues to drop down to where the wait isn’t much more than 5-15 minutes. I am spending the next couple weeks, gamewise, with some other games I have neglected for awhile…..it is actually kind of a fun break, imo.
Give it a week….the queues will diminish. They’re just huge right now due to the hype and interest in the wvw update.
Personally, I don’t really care about the new shineys. I enjoy playing wvw just because I have a ton of fun playing it. Mostly roaming and small havoc, but I do zerg every once in awhile, too.
Even if I could easily get the new shineys in my limited playing time, I doubt if it would interest me much.
If I wanted to grind like crazy for some pretty baubles, I would be playing pve all the time. I have already done super grindy garbage in other, older mmorpgs, to get shineys…and frankly, imo….the sheer time investment is just not worth it.
But hey, if I get 2k wvw rank some day, I will probably just continue playing wvw and completely ignore the ability to get the ‘reward’ for that rank. /shrug
And if you’re into the new shineys, then more power to you and best of luck! As others have said, load up on the boosters and charge ahead!
Peace!
(edited by Teon.5168)
Maybe with increased participation, the ranks will go faster, but prior to now, my average is probably about 1 per night….I’m on the 5-year plan…:)
Are you trolling? What are you doing? That’s close to impossible to only get 1 per night.
No it’s not. You don’t know how Sylvyn plays the game. Maybe he/she plays only an hour or so a night, does some slow paced roaming or whatever, doesn’t remember to run any wvw bonuses, takes frequent breaks, etc….
There have been many nights when I just got 1 level out there….because of the way I was playing (breaks, talking to wife, reorganizing drops, etc). Sure, most of the times I am out there, I will get more than 2-4 levels…..but some nights I just play relaxed and laid back and don’t care about levels at all. (Most of the time I don’t even pay attention to levels until I quit for the night).

I’m a roamer and I get more than 1 rank every single time I play (without any boosters). I’m sorry but if you can’t play more than 1hr per night and can’t get more than 1 rank per night… You’re just being entitled. These rewards require time investment and expecting kitten to be giving out to you because you haven’t been able to get the rank required in almost 5yrs of this gamemode is not a valuable input.
I was responding to your statement about it being next to impossible to only get 1 level during playtime. You don’t know how Sylvyn plays the game, and neither do I. I was just presenting how one could play wvw for that period of time and not rack up multiple levels.
Not sure how you went from that to some sort of sense of entitlement. I am perfectly fine with the 2k line on the T3 stuff. And I am perfectly fine with whatever levels I may or may not get while playing wvw.
At my age, the game is a pleasant diversion for me, and that’s it. I rarely get serious, in any way, shape, or form, about a video game anymore. It is just a way of having some mindless fun with friends after the work day for me.
I meant for anyone behind the idea (not at you directly but you defended that mentality which is completely absurd to me) that this rank is too high of a requirement when they can’t even get more than 1 rank per day of play; it’s a you (general you) problem, not the game or the developers. Idk how they play but to not get more than 1 rank you have to be doing NOTHING and most likely dying more than you cap or kill so why should that be rewarded? And if it’s because they’re on a time constraint, it’s no one else’s problem.
Not defending it…..just was saying how it is possible. There have been many times when I have only gotten that much, but it is when I am not paying much attention to the mode, i.e., talking to the wife, to other stuff with the pets, etc…….not defending it….just showing how it is possible.
When I am into wvw, yea, 4-5 levels in an hour is very doable, even roaming. (That usually happens when my wife is in bed and I don’t have any interruptions, and I can just work fast with camps, sentries, etc…..) People who play on a casual basis, with limited game time should realize that 2k is probably unattainable. As it should be. At the same time, someone who plays casual like I do, shouldn’t expect that kind of reward to just be given to them.
And I am fine with that.

As JQ’s Legendary Scout, even I’m not rank 2000 yet! That’s because scouting / building / back capping / doing the chores / was and is still unrewarding. This back piece and armor just makes it that much more of a slap in the face to those of us that took care of our Worlds. It’s what it is and it after almost 5 years of WvW, completely expected from the dev’s.
Time to kitten it all, booster up, and farm all the guppies trying out the mode.
I am in the same boat, as I have limited playing time, and I love to havoc and roam.
Not sure if I can force myself to get into the agonizing boredom that is zergs just for a cool shiney.
As long as I continue to have fun….that is all that matters to me.
