Well that sucks. Whats the fun or interest in playing a match you know you’ve lost? Why not just stand afk once you’ve lost the lead? That’s really kittened up

Some points I want to add:

  • You still can come back, it is just harder to do so.
  • It rewards you for playing good right from the start.
  • It is basically the same with the capture points, once you have map control you can snowball (and outnumber) through the whole match.

Changes to Shoutbow:

  • Shout healing base amount healed was changed from 1480 (0.9) to 1000 (1.0).
  • Warhorn trait makes warhorn skills remove 1 boon (used to be convert 1 boon) .

General changes:

  • Vigor is 50% increase to endurance regeneration (old 100%).

Other builds also got buffs whereas Shoutbow didn’t see many.

You are forgetting all the cool stuff the Shoutbow got.

  • the new ‘Vigorous Shouts’ include 3 traits, therefore you can f.e. now take the trait ’Shrug It Off" for an automatic Shout proc → compensates for the healing per shout lost.
  • ‘Endure Pain’ proc to avoid getting bursted down.
  • Burst Mastery
  • Condi remove on weapon swap
  • Warrior’s Sprint
  • Retaliation on getting crit
  • more might on weapon swap
  • +Healing Power per Might

My suggestion is to make Mantras start recharging when the first charge is used while in combat.

I vote for starting the cooldown when you first use a charge of that particular mantra.

Great suggestion. Love it. (But I’m not sure if that’s technically possible tho).

Totally agree. If the “bugged” version of the mantras are too strong, adjust the numbers (healing output, cooldown per charges, cooldown before recharging).

The “bugged” mantra state was just way more fun. With the “bugged” version it was far more rewarding to use the mantra charges when necessary. Now it is more effective to just spam your charges asap to get the cooldown running again.

Currently there are valid reasons. If you get placed on a team with 4 brand new gw2 players against 5 seasoned lvl 80 vets.

I had days, where I played with/again WTS-participants followed by a match with an obvious new player., but I had NEVER a match with 4 brand new players. If you do, than you are most likely just as good as them.

Its obvious how the match is going to go. Should the player be forced to suffer through that match?

I had enough matches played 4v5 and barely loosing (<50). If the QQ-player would have stayed, we would have won easily.

Or you could be placed with on a team with decent classes but the opposing team is full of the current top pvp classes only (through class stacking) who are going to (and do) stomp your team right away leaving no chance to even compete.

All those fotm-joiners are the best, I love farming them.

however can easily put the matchmaking at blame

Or maybe you have a cry baby that doesn’t like the fact that your team is down by 10 and they have no skill to help come up out of the hole and they leave.

It feels like that is the bigger problem than actual disconnects. For starters I would just begin with a harder punishment for those.

Not entirely. The maps often have different rules. And finding one with an actual match (NOT a duel, NOT roleplay, not whatever else odd thing people come up with) takes an annoying amount of time in itself.

I have created my own filters for the server list. One for normal 5v5, one to find duelling server and so on…

the practice button was a noob trap. noobs would click it and go in to a match where rank 80s are kittening around and zerging the kitten out of everything and basically playing conquest wrong in every possible way, and then theyd either quit after getting dragon stomped or come here and complain they were being dragon stomped and then quit. oh, and, the people doing the dragon stomps tell them they suck and they should quit too. is that really the kind of experience you want a new player to have when they first set foot in pvp? no.

They bring ONE mesmer and suddenly the class needs a nerf xD? We can’t count helseth’s squad either, since the man is an amazing mesmer with or without buffs.

Reminder: oRNG (team who used to play without Mesmer at all in the past) has won ESL in last week with double Mesmer comp.

^Exactly, team with most mesmers win now, quite obvious something is wrong.

Yesterday was the “big” monthly finals… and guess what: A lot of mesmers disappeared!

oRNG took a really close second place (lord rush failed at 1%) without a mesmer.
Abjured won NA without a mesmer.

Seems the teams learned to play around them / counter them.

Ele churning earth is the hardest hitting skill in the game especially when combined with the amount that of dmg modifiers eles get.

Churning earth does not even come close.

I’ve insta’d people with binding blade before. Have one with 5×3703 on video.

That’s from WvW, you don’t get those numbers in SPvP.

No, it isn’t the hardest hitting ability in the game… Ever fought a good shatter mesmer?

The damage of a shatter mesmer comes from different sources (Power Block, iBerserker, Mirror Blade, Mind Stab and Mind Wrack), but they all hit for less damage (Mind Wrack can get near that tho, but than again, you first need some ability to generate three clones).

Yes, that’s the highly unlikely prerequisite I was talking about (A MM Necromancer was nearby).

I attacked the screenshot. It happened in a ranked PvP match directly after a judged intervention teleport (so <=3 might stacks, <=3 vulnerability).

Do you guys think (after the bugfix to the grenadier trait) this will be the single hardest hitting ability ingame (so highly unlikely to hit you 5 times)?

There are 11.5k Backstab screens and Hundred Blade hits with Sholar Runes and Might for up to 13k, but can’t remember a single 13k screenshot from a single ability right at the start of a fight.

match making broken

One game I was playing with a member of TCG; the next with a necromancer, spamming auto attack on a down state warrior right next to a free uncapped point.

Those match-ups should not be happening in a working match making system.

I don’t care about ‘Mist Champions’ when not even the basics of a pvp game are working (broken mmr system, no reward structure, too long balance phases, no punishment for flamers/leavers/afkers).

i guess some ppl want to see just success in the videos with no mistakes . sry they feel this way. i put video with almost no editing mainly always from yesterday fights and not w8ing a month to choose only the bigest moments.

It is the opposite. You provided success (you managed to decap), but (at least the first scene) was missing good play (F4 & dodge & timewarp timing) vs good opponents (vs an opponent using MoP, Fencer’s Finesse and iDuellist).

Please don’t take it offensive, but as constructive criticism for your next video. I still appreciate the effort you put into the video and sharing your condition experience.

@1. Fight: 1 Opponent with Fencer’s Finesse, Pistol Offhand and with Mantra of Pain. Really late. You didn’t dodge anything and used F4 really late (basically after face tanking the burst) -> No point in watching any further.

My biggest design problems with condi mesmer:

  • Slow traveling projectiles
  • Relies on those projectiles from the clones to apply constant condi pressure -> with AOE in a teamfight very problematic
  • no strong condi pressure compared to current burn-builds
  • necro condi transfer
  • A lot of condi cleanse in the teamfights

Things to look forward to:

  • Fixed IDuellist might provide strong condi range pressure, that you can place outside of the AOE for teamfights.
  • MtD buffs
  • playing with at least two other condi professions (e.g. with a trapper) in a teamfight, that provide pressure with different condis (no confusion) with condition overload (more than they can cleanse).

Even if I could just improve my current ladder position (e.g. similar to the leagues in lol), that would be enough of an incentive for me. (MMR based ladder! NOT farmland!)

Well, every 1v1 server seems to have it’s own small ruleset. If they do, they have a link in the description of the server.

If you want to get used to your build, just look for a server, that allows the use of your build.

Personally, most of the time, I’m duelling friends, and there we just don’t use too long Cooldown (e.g. Moa on Mesmer).

@Turrets: Haven’t see a server yet, that prohibits the use of turrets, and if the does so, than he rule is outdated, since the turrets got a rebalance since.

You know what’s odd? Frosty (top mes EU) always said mes are strong (that was pre-patch) and kitten on most thieves.

Then how comes, he got farmed from Red Levin on Thursday in the ESL Cup?

Let’s wait and see if he participates in todays Go4Cup and generally, how the mesmers are doing there.

It is funny how people bring this sort of thing up, but never look at it from the other perspective, focusing someone down in this game is by far the least skilled in any MMO I’ve played, no healers, no diminishing returns / immunity on CC, the most forgiving / abusable stealth system I’ve ever played, etc make it faceroll, especially against certain classes, it is simply brainless.

Then you definitely should play more games.

I don’t understand anything happening in any of the LoL streams. And that’s me being 100% honest.

I totally agree. I just know, that they killed someone with their abilities, but I have no clue what the ability does.

But the main difference between those games and gw2 is the following:
Most of the time, there is 1 single thing going on.
First the lanes are farming, till one of the junglers jump in → you watch, and maybe he get’s the kill or not (= interesting). It builds up to that moment.
Then you have big fight, either someone get’s killed and the move forward, or they have to back off.

GW2 is different. Multiple fight all over the map are happening at the same time.

I’m a bit confused here. Can you please give some real game examples a not talk about cars. From my perspective you are saying: “I can’t dodge the opponents abilities, so there should not be abilities I have to dodge.”

Confusing Combatants – New 2nd Minor. You and your illusions have a chance (33%) to inflict confusion on crit (3sec).

We don’t need more passive condition procs. We want more active condition play (e.g. with a buffed Maim the Disillusioned)

Azani was playing with them, not against.

That is your problem, not necro related. Try out Noscs Necro build and make them cry.

  2. GM? Hm, maybe Phantasmal Defender. My two favorite traits are definitely Blinding Disipation and Restorative Illusions.
  3. Do you think this needs adjustments? Yes. It needs to be tuned down.
  4. Tried it, but I while CI is a great trait in Chaos, the adept and master traits (special after the nerf) are just meh.
  5. I love Inspiration.
  6. No, I dislike them.
  7. Yes, for JPs to reset my portal.
  8. For PvE strong as ever, for PvP I still prefer the moa. Huge cooldown and small radius are still a problem.
  9. Well, yes, who is better at blinding and dodging is going to win. Haven’t met a good PU-Shatter yet so, maybe with the stealth duration he would have an advantage in a 1v1.

Perhaps it was his excitement, maybe it was the explanation of synergies. Or maybe i’m just optimistic, but i’m sorta looking forward to the changes.

I’m really looking forward to the necro changes.
F.e. D/P thief changes are strong (compared to today he get’s the SA line for free), but really boring too. Nothing really new.
With necromancer there are so many fun things I can’t try to test out.

Aside from the consume condition change, maybe it won’t be SO bad hehe.

I’m really not afraid of that change. Personally I feel the main problems for the necro heals are the long cast time (and not the CD/healing power) and therefore that they are too easy to interrupt.

What is there to talk about it? It will work like all the other “proc-utility” traits work:

  • It will not share a CD with the ‘phantasmal defender’-utility skill.
  • It will have the same base CD as the utility skill.
  • The proc-cd will be influenced like the utility skill.
  • You will not have a cast bar / it will proc instantly.

Will it be used? There will be situation where it will be used, and there will be situations where it will not be used.

Giving free GW2 with a copy of HoT means Anet (or whoever made that decision) thinks GW2 is now worthless (or at least, that’s how you can interpret it).

No, ANet thinks, that way they will attract more new players.

1 copy = easier to buy
cheaper = more will buy it

So f.e. if 100.000 new player would have bought it for 10€ core + 45€addon =5.500.000
Now if 123.000 new player buy it for the 45€ in combination => 5.535.000
+ bigger chance, that some of those 23.000 players will spent more money in the long run (through buying gems).

For us players: more new player to play with = more fun!

Anet doesn’t care about the money they already made, but about the money they want/will make. A player should think different, why exactly?

I bought the game at release, for the 50€. With that, I bought myself thousands of hours of gametime. MY choice is now, if I want to spent another 45€ for another (probably) few thousands (or at least hundreds) of hours of gametime (=fun).

That’s my decision to make, and yes, I’ll buy the addon for 45 €.

It does not matter for my decision if any other person around gets something in addition (the core game), or has to pay less (f.e. because he lives in China; maybe I should move? xD), or if the addon will only cost 10€ in two year (well, I could wait).

For me, it is good, that there is a good deal for new players. New player = more players to play with = more fun.

Don’t forget. Old players who used up all their slots will need to spend an extra $10 on top of that $50 that new players will be paying for the full HoT experience.

Old players will for sure have ~140 gold to buy the slot with ingame currency.

Old players already had a good time and lots of fun in the game. Is that nothing?

Would you prefer, you would not have bought the core game ages ago, not had a good time in the past year/month/weeks, so that you now might save ~10 bucks?

Blind on dodge does not sound good to you?

A blind with a 10% chance of success, after I already dodged the big attack?

How do you get to a 10% chance of success? It is 100% every 10 seconds, that does not equal 10%.
