Your analogy is bad and here’s why.
I can always go find the “DBZ saga” i missed and re-watch it. I cannot go re-play season 1.
’Nuff said.
Season 2 and Hot are a good step forward in most places.
Season 1 was incredibly dull, far too drawn out and ultimately lacked in attraction as it required daily log in for 5 minute content at best. Lest we all forget the karma image that pretty much sums up “Season 1”.
WvW’ers were invited ?
All i saw was a massive publicity stunt and a lack of actual testing.
Mine → Sell it → Buy Ascended Mats → Fractals → Back to start
This is my typical weekday.
Weekend is more flexible and has more guild raiding than mining.
Gotta keep working toward that new shiny and i needs me money for that.
Good riddance ?
Maybe i’m extremely jaded at this point. But the game and the expansion are 60$. If they dont want to pay that price for easily thousands of hours of entertainment then they can still play the base game for free. Not much for to discuss here.
I only ran 1 achievement with a group, the rest are entirely soloable.
I just want another chance so the odds are on par with pre-fractal changes.
Please give 76-100 its own daily category.
I think it’s in the right spot.
I can control myself, i cannot control 9 other players.
Given that alone it really doesn’t need to be any harder to obtain.
Just play engineer.
Because as a good friend once said and we both will echo it being engineer players.
Engineers can do everything, every other class is capable of with 10 extra button presses.
It’s funny because when Anet introduced these long-haul event maps, they also broke fractals down to one-and-done instead of a gauntlet so it would be more convenient for those with time constraints. I thought the fractal change was based on a lesson they’d learned from their player base.
No the fractal change was done with the sole purpose of moving people who like dungeons away from them into fractals. Hence why the average length of a fractal is now the exact same time it would take an organized group to speed run.
Still irritated at that change. Wish they would have just added another mode to fractals to allow people who enjoyed the old format to keep playing the content in that way.
Yes.
15 angry char.
Do bots dream of electric snowflakes?
Only if androids dream of electric sheep.
The maps are fun. What most people seem to have an issue with is the length of the meta events.
Honestly some of them can be tunned a great bit better. TD/AB/DS have a too much bloat time on either sides of the meta completion (1st half) and the start of the “assualt/defend” phases.
Tuning them down to 30 minutes to progress the meta and 10-15minute fight times for the attack/defend phases with 15 minute reset / explore phase would suit them far better and removes a good 1hour of wasted time from all the maps listed.
We have to farm too much as is.
You already have a home….6 of them.
Aside from all of this there’s much more pressing issues than making this SAO wars 2.
F11.
Shows both at the bottom.
Waiting on the next wings for legendary armour. :P
Haha, good luck with that… Players will probably have to run it over the course of a year to get it at this rate…
Have you even raided ?
If you had you’d see the collection required is a partial one with only the items for raid wing 1 being shown and achievable. There are more items which we cannot obtain (par for the course see Ad Infinitum)
I like that they act differently more than anything.
It’s fun to have to dodge their charges or look out for their sniper shots.
Nothing new. Arah already had this mechanic.
Risen Aboms have a must dodge FGS attack. Risen Dead-Eyes have a 1 shot kill snipe to any moving target.

3 years of a huge massive game for 50$.
Now they want 50$ for another 3 years of sub free goodness.
Ok. Sounds reasonable.
Show me where they’ve said our next expansion date is again ?
For all we as players know it could be in 5 months, 12 months, 16 months etc….We have no guarantee.

Read the FAQ and install as instructed there.
Should solve most if not all client related crashes.
Talk about a “Lack of Sense of Humor.” I just happened across this necro’d thread from a month ago. Is this the mindset of people too dense to see that Anet prided themselves on the relative difficulty of the raids and were making a joke about it causing tears?
No. It’s just many people dislike when jokes are being made at their expense.
Then they should get good so they aren’t the punchline.
If you’re in a guild where people are giving up after the first few wipes….
Then you probably should look for a more serious raiding guild, if you want to raid.
Not trying to be rude here, but there is a large casual audience who would rather be carried than experience failure and learn from it.
by getting good ?
Or exploiting…take your pick.
Given the toxicity (as opposed to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism) that pervades these forums most of the time I can hardly blame them.
Besides, is it really THAT difficult for people to check into Reddit?
Hell, even some of the best user-created information is there. When I’m researching builds, I almost always end up on Reddit….
You know that the toxicity people talk about, really didn’t exist until we had massive voids in communication stemming from the change in policy right ?
Some form of racial themed decorations would be nice.
Allow for golems/holo tech upgrades for asura, Cogs/Steampunk for Charr, Rustic/Beast themed for Norn etc….
It’s perfectly fine for the devs to have more open discourse elsewhere without the fear of too much backlash, it’s not fine to ignore pressing community issues on the community forums for fear of being fired.
This. But that fear is more than legitimate given past incidents and the current affairs on the forums. I mean, look at the nasty way people respond every time Gaile posts anything.
Heck, if I was an ANet developer I wouldn’t post here either.
You know, there might be some sorta reason why people are shooting the messenger currently. No disrespect meant toward Gaile at all she’s doing what she can given what she’s allowed.
But there is ultimately only so much she can do given the policies in place that have lead us to this spot.
Granted open communication was tried before and it worked, we’ve seen it work countless times. When it fails to work however is when the silence starts. I get that the devs are busy people, have lives etc…. But give that, they have enough time to post on reddit, i think its fair to say the same time could be invested into their forums or heck even the communication policies that are causing the issues to arise.
I mean there’s a whole community team, if they aren’t seeing these issues and pushing for changes then what is it they are doing ?
Why must they be required to post on the GW2 forums? They use all forms of social media so there’s no reason for everything to be restricted to these forums.
Social Media is a good tool if properly utilized.
However when you already have a direct form of communication for game based issues, they should stay there (AKA the forums).
Now yes the forums are a joke, see the search feature….or the lack their of. See the numerous duplicate topics/mega merged threads and the lack of interaction due to how it’s been for the most part left to rot.
It’s perfectly fine for the devs to have more open discourse elsewhere without the fear of too much backlash, it’s not fine to ignore pressing community issues on the community forums for fear of being fired.
Pretty sure that sums up a vast majority of the problems with why people dislike the current state of both media platforms.
It’s not 8 weekly… You get 8 each time you downed a boss, as long as the instance owner never killed that boss that week. So yeah, go out and help some new people kill the boss,
I thought you were locked out from shards from said boss if you killed it that week.
Nope, every kill will earn you 8 shards. You’re only locked out of your weekly reward drop (the one that has a chance of giving ascended stuff)
Thanks for clearing that up. Learned something new.
The irony behind the OP’s post and their really liberal application of words is great.
Pre Purchase they said small guild would not be left out.
They lied…..
They did not lie.
People are just ignorant. They said many times that Guild Halls were designed with 10 people in mind. Anything less than that is no more than a party.

Another very helpful post. Thank you very much.
I’ve been earning 5 fractal daily chest per day since HoT launched. Those chests aren’t the solution, they’re the problem. They keep giving me excessive amounts of useless crap fractal weapon skins that I’ve already unlocked, instead of useful drops. Those useful drops aren’t “guaranteed” as you claim. That’s the crux of the problem. Quite often, I get useless rubbish instead. When those chests you highlighted in the screenshot drop you a fractal weapon skin, they don’t drop you a Stabilizing Matrix, despite the bold claim that the chest will. It’s a lie.
This isn’t even about the specific stuff I’m not getting. It’s about getting loot that I can do nothing with except “right-click -> destroy -> yes”.
Having to destroy the drops I’m supposed to consider the “special”, “better” reward options, that’s stupid. There’s really no other word for it, except ones that would get me infracted.
It’s not a lie, you are guaranteed a matrix from said chest.
Have a nice day.
Fallen mask, Fungus Among Us, Punch o Matic, Scar Rifle Field Test, Shooting Gallery……
All are the bane of Gold for many players.
If you can’t bother to read what I write, don’t comment.
Fractal weapon skins can’t be salvaged, sold, or TPed.
I get them from doing the fractal dailies.
They drop instead of the things you tell me to salvage.
They are supposed to be some kind of special prize. They aren’t. They’re worthless. They’re a random chance for me to get no reward to speak of at all from a fractal box.
They say people have a better chance to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery.
If fractal daily chests are a lottery, getting a fractal weapon skin isn’t the equivalent of winning the lottery. They’re the lightning.
Yep i see your problem.
You’re trying to salvage fractal weapons.
Do you daily sets, you’re guaranteed them from it. Salvage any ascended ring as previously stated. Continue on with life.
It’s not rocket science
Or atleast implement action camera.
Joking right ?
Have you tried enabling action camera from the options.
Either way the problem really is, that the user if possible needs to use a mouse.
It will be a major QoL change for them. Unless they only have one hand, in which case im extremely sorry but the puzzle will forever be a hurdle to overcome.
Don’t ascended weapons vendor for 1g? (Honest question, as I don’t know if fractal weapons can be vendored).
They do.
I have no idea what manasa is doing wrong but they are doing a lot of it wrong.
Stabilizing matrices are a dime a dozen. They need to start salvaging the horrible rings/doing the daily sets.
1) It’s a bug
2) To prevent the fail farm state of only running VG and gaming the system.
The achievement will still be attainable after wintersday ends.
Only the activity dependent ones will cease to function.
Please bring SaB
Its the least you can do after releasing HoT with unfinished content
Irony.
You want to complain about unfinished content, and yet want more unfinished content back ?
I mean, im all for SAB just thought, i’d point out the situation and its comic nature.
Those look like some good changes.
If one of the devs is reading this thread, a suggestion.
Can you make upgrades not autostart?
Keep them free but make it so someone has to actually talk to an npc to kick off the next upgrade.
Would go a long way along with the dolyak change so a server doesnt get free upgrades for doing nothing.
This, but also make them select-able upgrades. Removing strategic choice is bad.
The selection process looks random, i had to ask my guildmates if anyone else recently received a survey or if it was even legit. Only 1 other person had, and we both checked the validity.
The survey is…an interesting one. The kicker being that they don’t want people discussing the details of it.
So here are my thoughts on hotfixing the meta.
You use that word hotfix…..
I don’t think you know what that means.
None of these skills/traits are bugged, thus not in need of a hotfix.
What you are suggesting is a balance pass, and a rather horrible one at that. For as much flak as you give anet, i’m sure glad you are not a part of the live balance team.
I miss the good old days — when GW2 actually had a friendly, helpful community.
Happy Wintersday, everyone.
It still does have a friendly helpful community.
Keep in mind the forum posting is less than 5% of the player base. Of that there’s a extremely vocal minority on these forums who may present some form of toxicity. Your odds of running into any one of them in game is likely to be around 2% at best unless you actively go out of your way to find them.
Most of this thread has been a fairly civil discussion with the majority of people agreeing that something should change, be it tokens, the achievement changed to attempts instead of completions or something entirely different.
So i’m confused why you would go out of your way to post something that would only go as far as to stir the pot instead of contributing actively.
I tried giving Braham a gift for wintersday…
Apparently, he’s not an orphan even though he has no parents and is still a kid.
You can walk through the gate as well.
But yes this is a pretty silly bug.
Why should anyone be punished for actively using a mechanic in game ?
Courtyard…..
But no one likes that map. Too small for actual TDM, or TDME
So please tell me how I can improve my reaction time
By not making excuses and actively going out of your way, even though it may not be appealing or easy and just taking small steps.
Eventually you will build up muscle memory and be able to do the puzzle almost instinctively.
Seriously, I tried to stop reading after “it may not be appealing”, but I just could not do it. The fascinating point here is, you´re not even wrong. But what is this, a game or some kind of physiotheraphy? Muscle memory to make unappealing content is an actual argument in an MMO? People are not recovering from an accident, they are looking for fun in their spare time…
Fun is relative though. Rewards are concrete however, the item is a reward, not fun.
You can do many things for fun, you have to do many things to be rewarded. That’s the difference.
Again it may not be something you actively enjoy, personally i hate the bell choir game. Am i going to let my own rhythmic ineptitude stop me from trying ? No. Eventually i’ll be able to complete a song and not feel hopeless.
Do i think they could have been nice and made the achievement items sell-able and have limitless repeatable acquisition, sure. But then you’d open up a can of worms where-in people complain about Gold being all that’s required for the unique skin.
Is there potentially another solution ? Sure.
Do i think removing part of the requirements is ever going to be it ? No.And again, it is hard to argue against the logic of the argument. But I thought until recently that it was the job to make a game fun for a company if it wants to sell it? You offer a solution like a mechanic that repairs a volvo with functionality as the goal, not fun or aestethics. And I seriously doubt that this can help a game like GW2 stay afloat in the future.
Of course you can argue that a reward has a fixed schedule to get it as it is a reward and wants to be earned. But it still does kind of not make sense to say people that they simply can´t have it then if a funny game is your product. It would make sense if we were all working in the accounting department of a comany though.
I get what your saying, fun and rewarding doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive, and i agree.
However, there’s a problem with this. Who determines what is fun ? Some people surely enjoy the jumping puzzles, are they not having fun ? Would removing said content requirement diminish their fun ?
To be fair like i said you can’t ask objectively what fun is. At the end of the day, you are working to a goal. Sometimes that’s fun as it’s something you want to do. Other times it’s not.
There are solutions that could have been taken, that were missed this year. As such its extremely unlikely to change (based on history). All Anet can do given the current time frame is read suggestions and iterate on it for next wintersday (or even the next Festival).
Just turn them into agony infusion slots where you can place cosmetics.
