The question is, will conquest be overtaken by the new game modes. Or will conquest just be the main mode for every spvp game type while the other modes are simply an option in a custom game, therefore being excluded from solo que or tourney.

Thats why its bad that theyre testing it without big feedbact, to see palyers opinions, they shouldnt release mode THEY like, they must release modes which PLAYERS like

It’s all about profit not about what we want. Then again if they actually did bother to allow a more improved form of testing (involving the community in it) or find out what we as the community are after ( adhering to those that take a serious steps while disregarding blatant trolling), that would be a different story.

Anet will start to run out of time once the next year comes into swing. If they continue to follow the current path and dance us around. I need not say more.

A friend of mine picked this up for wvw, seems to work nicely in 1v1s. For small skirmishes it also works, provided you have dps supporting you. If the dps is another d/p that knows how to use “head shot”, fights can be pretty interesting. Lackluster when it comes to an increase in enemy numbers(go figure).

In the end, it’s a dualist build by design that seems to work well as observed and can be a perfect addition to any roaming team.

Earth Shaker is a ground targeted aoe as well as Long bow adren skill. Makes no sense why Hammers adren skill fails while Combustive Shot works.

Unless for one thing, Earth Shaker is maybe counted as a leap first then an aoe attack.

Healing signets healing tick is bugged, meant to heal every 3 seconds if I remember correctly. I think it heals for every second, needs confirmation. But even so, a nerf would be targeted to either the healing amount or intervals of healing.

I have tested the runes of speed in pvp and found that the 6th does not work at all. I have heard rumours of the 6th affect not working for pve too but have not tested yet. I do know that the runes of the traveler +25% speed boost does work in pve. If anyone can confirm Superior Rune of Speeds 6th is entirely bugged for pve too that would be much appreciated.

Not trying to give myself a bump but for the people that have sent me PM’s regarding not to post more videos about mace+Shield/GS combo in fear it will increase the chances of getting the spec nerfed, well im sorry if I have given out that impression, this is by no means a video show casing how strong I am or anything near that nature its just high lights of my average game-play.

Regards to you posting Mace+Shield/GS combo vid, don’t worry your spec will be nerfed in due time in any event. The spec has already been flashed around for far to long so you may continue to feed the already present raging inferno.

the only real changes hammer needs is 4 needs to be castable on the move and 5 either needs to be aoe or the cd reduced, other then that I think everything else works well.

sometimes earthshaker bugs on terrain but it’s manageable

Back Breaker in gw1 was never an aoe attack.

There has been a LOT of forums posted recently pertaining to Warrior. I’m wondering what the balance team feels about Warrior as it is currently. Most of the “information” presented in these forums is just downright wrong. It’s a lot different than Spirit Rangers where it was apparent that there was very few exploitable weaknesses. The current Warrior meta to me is only strong because it aims to counter the condition heavy meta, which I feel was an attempt to allow the players to shift the meta on their own without directly nerfing said builds in the current meta. The builds we run have several counters, you just don’t see them frequently because they aren’t popular currently. If Warrior remains how it is we may see a shift in the game so that for example Mesmers come back into the fray to counter the Warriors that are Countering Rangers and Necros.

I just pray that you do not listen to these forums filled with incorrect information and “shave” Warriors back into mediocrity so shortly after we were made useful after a year of being the punchline of every PvP joke.

If power meta returns trust me warriors will be OP. They will be one shoting people with sustain. So yea I hope they nerf it so noobs on warrs don’t think they are good at the game (same reason I want spirit ranger nerfed). Warriors were balanced before it was just the other classes needed adjustment. ZERK STANCE AND HEALING SIGNET NEED HUGE NERF. I HATE THAT THE CLASS I PUT MY EFFORT INTO LEARNING IS EASY TO PLAY FOR ANYONE NOW. Enough said.

Clear cut counter to berserker stance: wait for the stance to end (very easy to do) then condi burst war. If you spam every direct dps ability when a ranger uses “Protect Me” or the signet then you will have to be an idiot. If you spam all conditions on an engineer traited for 100% condi immunity at 25%, yeap need not repeat myself.

Counter to healing signet: maintain poison on target or maintain pressure. This also seems to work against rangers, mesmer’s, guardians, engineers and elementalists. Well go figure for that eh?

Opinion sack, I never have trouble with these types of wars as I understand the mechanics in play and know how to counter them.

We can also pop zerk stance when we are already training you then what happens? You cant blind his stun you just have to hope to god you dodge the stun or he is dumb and completely misses an insta cast.

In that situation it would still be a waste and I actually use stun breakers unlike other people. But then again commen sense is hard to come by and well if many others had it, we might see less cries for nerfs or QQ e.g. coloxus(or however you spell his name) vs unknown war.

I found myself laughing at this part though.

Basically s/d right now does too much of everything. It has high burst, very high sustainable damage And is very difficult to kill.

Haha so S/D has a “high burst” now….

Apparently the community finally hates consistent damage that can constantly evade and hardly take damage. Not to mention easily disengage within any situation to a certain degree.

Funny thing is, you just have to get the rotation in your mind and after that it seemingly takes no skill to use it.

But it does have weaknesses, you simply can’t take any kind of damage at all regularly while you have your heals, utilities or elite on cd. You also can’t dodge spam what you can’t see, so one shot or two shot specs can maybe kill one out right. There are those said one or shot specs out there that can also perma stealth to a point.

Helseth virtually states “there is no skill in interrupting”. Sure anyone can interrupt an auto attack, but not many can anticipate when their target will use a heal skill, utility, weapon set skill (2-5) or elite. You can even go further by stating how you need to know when to rupt or what to rupt at that period of time. That’s what turns what he calls “no skill” into “clutch play” for whoever can pull it off perfectly.

Superior Rune of Speed is also incredibly good and much cheaper…

You get a metric ton of Vitality which is usually pretty low cause of lack of Vit from Apothecary.

I know for certain that the +25% movement speed for pvp is broken. Funny how the pve varient apparently doesn’t work as well with the +25% movement speed buff.

I can say that pve runes of the traveller’s displayed affects all work.

All in all, it makes you wonder when runes of the traveller or any other pve only rune/ sigil will make it over to pvp.

Is kind of absurdly strong, or am I going crazy?
(1) +28 Condition Damage
(2) 5% chance when hit to steal Health on next attack
(3) +55 Condition Damage
(4) After using your healing skill, your next attack skill steals health
(5) +100 Condition Damage
(6) 7% of Vitality becomes Condition damage.

To me, this simply looks like a far better version of Rune of the Undead, combined with Vampirism. What the kitten?
Edited in: You lose out on ~50 Toughness, have the potential to gain more Condition damage, and have the loss in Toughness offset by the fact that the Leech is ~900 in both damage and heals. Stocking up on this before the price goes up?

Using this as an example, makes you wonder if any of these pve only runes will ever be implemented into pvp.

1. Guardians are basically half-and-half Monk and Paragon. They use heavy armor like Paragons and make heavy use of shouts (or at least have the ability to) to channel their magic. Monks channeled healing, protection, and smiting magic through their prayers.

2. Guardian power comes from faith. What that faith is placed in doesn’t really matter — whether it be in the Human gods or in a warband, as may be the case for Charr Guardians. All that matters is that it’s strong enough to act as a source of power for our magic.

3. All of our weapons are honestly pretty good/useful. It just depends on what you’re doing. If anything is “lacking” in our arsenal, it’d be either Sword or Scepter, and not by much.

4. I don’t think it’s possible to really say how many “types” there are. I basically look at it this way: Bunker, DPS, or Support. I guess Hybrid is a thing too.

5. AH builds are easily the most used currently. They’re simply and easy to use.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be difficult for me to throw a history together for my Guardian, especially considering how into GW1 I was and how interesting Tyria’s lore is, but I just haven’t bothered. Not a big RP-type.

Towards the title of this thread, it’s total stupidity to even call this over powered when the thief, guard and engi still hasn’t even been buffed to the degree the warrior, ranger, necro and condition thief/mesmer has been. The mesmer still requires more tweaks but I don’t need to elaborate. But a good engi, ranger, mesmer, necro or maybe guard could beat this war or stale mate the duel, even when not buffed so what does that say. The warrior class needed these tweaks to be competitive. To call for a nerf that if successfully heard, would mean the notion “free kill” for the war.

But on side note, the spec used by the warrior clearly and effectively exploited the weaknesses of jumpers spec and destroyed him. The thief managed to get the war down to 25% hp but continued pressure when it’s condition removal is on cooldown thus allowing the consistent dps from conditions to eat away at him. Since jumpers spec is not designed to take any kind of dps constantly, he dies in the end, how is that op from the warriors stand point?

I would call for a need to buff thieves for build variety instead of a nerf to warriors. But then again I have seen very strong condition builds out there for the thief that could beat this war as well. In conclusion, condition meta ftw.

Firstly, we have no qualm or rivalry with Helseth.

That aside, I have some questions, and would like to address some other points made.

1. What exactly do you mean by allocating resources to eSports?
2. What exactly is your definition of fun? Fun is subjective, no?

While we definitely appreciate it when players are vocal and provide feedback, excessive hyperbole does not help us to understand the fundamental issue.

Some more points:
1. The current meta is not controlled by the PvP team. Yes, we monitor it closely as balance greatly affects PvP. However, no resources are being taken away from PvP development in order to do balance. So I’d like to just squash that misconception now.

2. Skill effect clutter – another thing not controlled by the PvP team. Another thing that we monitor and provide feedback to the teams that do control it.

3. Sending out in-game mail is not as easy as it sounds. Keep in mind that every message that is sent has to be edited and localized.

  • This is, however, something we recognize as an area to be improved. We are investigating ways to provide in-game messaging for events.

4. Lastly, I want to thank you for promoting the guildwars2pvptv channel. I always see a few people on the team with the stream always going on their 2nd/3rd monitors. Once PAX has past, we’ll be looking to better promote streamers from all areas of the game. So keep it up!!

ok so basically everything that is wrong with the game is not your fault. There is nothing at all under “control” you simply “monitor” thats cute!

I guess it is ours then! this meta is the worse EVER and i believe we all agree on that but it is ofc the players fault for playing the extremely OP professions that YOU made.

When dealing with anet, always expect nerfs, minor buffs, over nerfs. Rarely though you may see an over buff.

This is what I’ve taken from Isaiah attempts to display to the community on spec variety for the various classes:

The ironic part within this stream (including the other classes related vids) is the push to show build variety when it really comes down to build viability. Isaiah can go on to show case each necro spec or display other class specs . But in the end the best builds that are used are specs that operate better and can adapt in the same situation or in multiple situations. Shining through the rest along with the class that uses the build creating a pigeon hole affect. Skill then comes into play but I won’t go into how this game doesn’t show case it effectively for pve or pvp.

However, Scepter is still in a strange place. With another condition and condition damage added to Malicious Sorcery trait, it’s time take the plunge and scrap Ether Bolt.

Problems with Ether Bolt chain:

  • power scaling, unlike rest of weapon
  • clones are too frequent in PVE (can’t even shatter them all)
  • clones are unreliable in sPVP (hard to get 3rd skill chain off)
  • clones’ attacks do nothing (unlike sword and staff)
  • doesn’t scale with weapon/illusion recharge reduction traits (lackluster compared to other clone skills late game)

Suggestions:

  • nerf Confusing Images and move it to Scepter #1
  • remove clone from Illusionary Counter
  • bring back GW1’s Illusion of Weakness
  • or GW2 style: “Create a clone with low hp that runs the direction you’re facing. If this clone is killed, enemy is inflicted with Torment.”

MOAR MINDGAMES! That’s the true fun of mesmer. Imagine Illusion of Weakness with Decoy or The Prestige!

Scepter is amazing atm I run it in power and condition builds. Any changes to make it stronger are unwarranted and would make mesmer even more op than it currently is.

You have to acknowledge one aspect of the sceptre that does need the change. It’s auto attack doesn’t really provide synergy with the rest of the condition theme. It is also out dpsed by other weapon sets in terms of raw damage.

The reason it does not synergies is the lack of a condition proc from it’s auto attack which then makes the clones some what only good for shatter fodder. If the clones caused 1 second of confusion on the target or some sort of condition to at least keep some pressure up. It would complete the weapon and make it perfect for it’s role. Another idea could be anet doing away with the clone creation on auto and add a condition chain similar to the necromancer but not as op to the auto attack.

Well, because no matter how much you may think they are above it they will be like everyone else, wanting their class buffed and all others nerfed. You really need a objective viewpoint to properly balance.

A good solution is to recruit players that play all classes. If you have every class and play each one practically equally in skill, your therefore are not biased based on class but play style. If you have enough players that play all classes discussing with each having various play styles, the discussion will even out. But it is hard to find serious players to coordinate this. We are also rare, as not many want to make a character for each class or can learn each one and become competent or masters within all the classes.

Prime example why present day pvpers should WvW more with this current map type. As the elements within sky hammer could become a staple in future pvp map designs. But one could argue that the transition from pvp to pve or vice versa simply gimps various peoples game play experience. Not to mention many pvpers views of wvw or how others put it zvz. So please let more fall footage occur and let the laughs continue until everyone gets accustomed to this map design.

I like it the way it is i actually think it would be a little bit OP if you got healed when you entered DS. and remember its not a guardian its a necro their not meant to be able to heal like a guardian.

Well, we are supposed to be an attrition profession, which we aren’t really at the moment.

Still, I don’t think making DS heal us is the right way to go – wouldn’t it be easier to just remove the “you can’t be healed while in DS” part anyway? Even if DS itself didn’t heal us, it would be nice if it didn’t block other sources of healing like regeneration. That, or maybe they could make the life steals from Blood Magic be like.. actually noticeable? All it would take is a slight buff to the amount they steal and suddenly life steal builds would be perfectly fine.

How much do those things heal these days anyway, like 30 health/attack? That’s around 1/1000 of our health, which isn’t exactly helpful when an average attack deals something like 2-3k damage and a good burst can be close to 20k. It needs to be several times what it currently is to make any difference.

I agree but it will be very difficult to separate and allow regeneration along with life transfer to work. It will mean a rework of the boon and the life steal mechanic, that in turn will breed various bugs and require multiple fixes.

What makes attrition work though is sustainability, constant pressure and reduction of effectiveness.

We don’t have sustainability worked out yet. Necromancers can’t effectively maintain themselves at a certain level as not every single skill provides life force. This means a necromancer must also win his first fight and accumulate life force as we have no life force to use our class mechanic “death shroud”. Life steal is also simply too flawed to work as death shroud stops its affect or it is easily out dpsed as it does not provide enough healing to be a benefit in the first place. Life steal is also limited to one trait line, one weapon, one utility, one heal skill and two sigils. We also do not have passive countering to conditions or control affects. We have burst counters but no passive counters or they aren’t feasible.

We have the constant pressure but some view it as fine while others view it as over powered. We do need to have good viable ways to provide constant pressure to kill our enemies or force them to make hard choices. If it is heavily nerfed then we cannot be an attrition based class.

We do have multiple ways to reduce the effectiveness of our enemies. Some are not applied as often as others which then makes people think a centralised way to actively weaken enemies is required. But what it seems like the necromancer needs is simply to improve or further ingrain “reduction of effectiveness” into the offensive capabilities that the necromancer has or have better trait options implemented to provide it.

In conclusion a necromancer requires these three points to be a attrition based class which are: sustainability for themselves, constant pressure against the enemy and to reduce the effectiveness of the enemy.

It’s funny how the trait “Fresh Air” has it’s internal cooldown bugged at 3 seconds. I foresee a needed fix which will be a nerf to the trait.

Pelicankilla you need to follow the four points that I presented in my first post in this thread and take in with a grain of salt any recommendation that is not positive. Choose your “Yoda’s” carefully and seek a wide variety of possibilities. Which means you will never be pigeon holed and can adapt to the changing situations within gw2.

You three (Arganthium, Jax and TheMightyAltroll) just helped provide useless biased comments that the player pelicankilla wasn’t required to know. I commend Arganthium and TheMightyAltroll for at least trying to get back onto point. Practically /facepalm at Jax’s attempt to continue to troll within this thread without any proper advice at all. I would say for everyone to not let this fall into a troll thread, but clearly the name of the thread is starting to warrant the wrong attention.

Four points of advice can be given to pelicankilla. The first is to post a new thread which actually took a serious approach to his question within a clear format. The second is to research the classes either by youtube or by any other means you like. Judge the play style which best suits you and go with it. The third is to create a character for every class and become a better player while doing so. This option would be lengthy for you but would be worth it in the end. The fourth option is to not just seek aid from one “teacher” but from multiples over time. Obviously gaging whether they are trust worthy and to disregarded any opinions they may have about the various classes that are clearly biased.

Responding to stupid statements such as “Guardians are less effective than Engineers.” and now yours. Not trolling.
