Honestly…. I would have paid for a subscription had I known this F2P gemstore system was going to be so slow and boring.
…..and another….. attempting the 100% stealth option.
The door didn’t open after activating both consoles.
Is this some kind of joke?
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
Sometimes you have to stand up on the ledge against the wall above the magmacyte, make sure he doesn’t have anything aggro’d on him. Next step is to get him killed and revive him, then repeat the above. If those aren’t solving it, (and it can sometimes still seem like it’s bugged out as it’s sometimes touchy on where you stand to trigger him), then it may be something new breaking it. When it happens be sure to do a bug report from within game. They keep telling us that those are in fact read and it does provide them with additional information that the forum cannot.
Sadly, none of those things resolved the issue for me and my party.
In my situation, there were no enemies around whatsoever.
Magg had a red bubble above his head (talk to me its important marker) and was standing next to the magmacyte.
We got him killed, did the whole thing over again, and eventually gave up after trying literally everything.
I had this happen to me on one of my CoF p2 runs.
After running it the speedy way, Magg wouldn’t interact with the magmacyte….. everyone ran the lava fields, still no dice.
We all waypointed to the start and tried the whole thing over again….. all he would do was hand out extinguishers.
We ended up restarting the dungeon.

Ok so i attempted to do achievements and on 2different attempts the mission once again bugged completely halting progress:
Room 1:
Knocked out an asura and triggered the alarm, but after all enemies were dead, the asura I knocked out was still stealthed, but had a ‘!’ over his head, and the panel was never able to activated….
RESTART
Room #3
Killed all the enemies and the panels never became usable.
WTF ANET!
Do you even player test your updates?
Yeah…. Nothing really happened when I turned in the dowsing rod.
Same issue, waiting for Faolin to beat them which is taking ages – also I found you couldn’t deactivate anything in the rooms with Golems as no matter where they were in the room they detected the panel activation and deactivated it again – forcing you to fight when you were trying to stealth it.
I was able to do that part no problem, by first knocking out all the asura, then activating one on one side of the room then immediately heading for the other one on the other side.
Halfway through the mission, Meeting the Asura, I am stuck in stealth (with no attack skills) and the alarm is sounded…..
I am supposed to stealthily disable all the generators or kill all the enemies.
I wanted to kill all the enemies, and started attacking…. so the alarm sounded.
Now…. the only way to progress is to defeat all the alerted foes…. but I can’t since I’m permanently stuck in stealth.
For two years “Nearest Enemy” has been selecting someone in front of us (for the most part. Targeting has always been a little problematic in this game). Now it is working MUCH differently. That alone is cause enough for outcry.
(Though despite numerous threads decrying the targeting problems here, in the Bugs forum, and elsewhere, I have yet to see ANet acknowledge us in any manner.)
…because using target next works exactly the same way target closest did before the patch.
You have an option to use one or the other.
There is no problem… except that people either
A) Don’t realize that tab targeting works the way they want it to
B) Can’t adapt
Again, as I stated to you in a different thread, there were hundreds and hundreds of complaints about the system.
Anet implemented changes to resolve the issues.
The issues were completely resolved.
I don’t know what you want Anet to do….. put the bugs back in the game because you can’t learn to use a different key?
In the bandit cave in Kessex Hills, for example, GW2 will let me target the caged cave trolls, which cannot be hit and are in fact invulnerable. Why does GW2 even consider the trolls as possible targets?
I just went there to test this.
It is impossible to target the trolls with tab targeting.
But possible with target nearest.
nice video.. i honestly didn’t really get this story..
You probably never played guild wars 1!
I agree. I end up having to take off my helm, since I do indeed wear one and never display it.
In the makeover panel, it displays all your armor, shoulders, headgear, etc. even if you have them hidden.
Really annoying if you are trying to tweak your toon to match your armor…. you see them naked, or you see all of their armor (including a helm that completely covers the face/removes all the hair) ….. you need to take off the helm and shoulders (if you want them hidden) before you use the kit.
Idk if this is the right place to post this….. but…
I need recipes for the ambrite weapons.
Earlier today, I went to Dry Top, helped get it to t4….. realized my geodes were in the bank.
I left to go get them, and returned to a t1 dry top.
I couldn’t get back into to that t4 to save my life.
In that situation, you need to party with someone before you leave, that’s all. Then you can join on them.
and well….. that doesn’t always work either.
I also experienced this a while back.
I reported the issue, but it clearly has not yet been resolved.
At any rate, I can vouch that this is not an uncommon bug.
In the spirit of charity, perhaps the OP meant he couldn’t do all the monthlies including the PvP ones, given that he is PvE only and hates JP’s?
That’s as far as my charity goes, however, because I don’t feel that one has to Do It All. The game offers a variety of things to do from which one need only pick a subset suited to their preferences to get the same monthly reward; any subsequent achieves are gravy but hardly required.
…or maybe he is just logging in on the 28th to do his monthly, and is realizing that he will not be able to get the easy Monthly Completionist…. and instead must actually experience the game in some way shape or form.
You’re a bit slow cottoning on to this nearest target problem. A few people posted immediately on the forum after the problems started (a few months ago) and I raised a bug report on the forum. Maybe the OP should write a bug report too instead of a community complaint since nearest target function is broken compared to its previous state.
Except that its not a bug…. and it is a fix for hundreds of issues.
You’re fixing a specific Z-axis issue in the 180 frontal cone by turning it into a 360 sphere. Is that really a “fix”? At best, an undocumented change of functionality. Can’t it be “fixed” by turning the frontal 180 cone into a frontal 180 semisphere, and using “next enemy” for targeting thieves behind you?
You are ignoring the fact that the targeting no longer works on line of sight, which was the main issue causing hundreds of lesser issues.
Now that enemies can’t get obstructed by invisible geometry, we are able to target them without any issues.
It is simply an added bonus that I’m able to target the literal “nearest enemy” without having to rotate my camera directly to face them.
90% of the time you won’t even have any issues, and the 10% of the time you target a barracuda in the water below you or a wall in WvW, you can simply tab target.
“According to our Marketing Team, the items you mention are from the Heroic Edition, not the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Again, if that is indeed what she is referencing, then this becomes rather misinforming.
Also, I understand Arenanet’s stand on the issue, obviously.
(I don’t have the items)I just feel like the whole thing screams bad marketing and misinformation
That quote from Gaile is referencing an old version of the digital deluxe (about a year ago) and is a response to another poster asking about the it. The old version was different. Sorry for the confusion there. I should have pointed that out as well as putting in the source. That was my mistake. Mea culpa.
I prefer not to edit, “correct”, or remove parts of “Red Posts” so I left her response to the other poster about the old version in. What I do is highlight the important parts that are relevant. The part that I want to indicate that this is their policy and how they handle this.
This part:
“Please keep in mind that with any developer, offerings and prices change over the life of a game. Just as your local department store doesn’t give this week’s bonus B1G1F offer to someone who purchased the a pair of shoes six months or a year ago, we’re not giving the new items to those who have had the pleasure of playing the game for the last many months.”
Again…. I am aware Arenanet is not giving us the items….
The reason why just doesn’t seem to make any sense.
It is obviously a promotion. No-one denies that.
It is simply not labeled as such.
The reason why it is not labeled as such is because of the outrage that would ensue over the subject.
A promotion labeled in such a way that it doesn’t look like a promotion.
Game packages added/relabeled/altered/etc.
Items that are not “exclusive” but still desirable.
All rolled into one big “you can’t touch me” loophole.
Simply because some players are having trouble adapting to using tab instead of target nearest does not mean it is a bug.
Well, Gaile isn’t or wasn’t the ‘PR’ person, nor is she infallible. If you read all her posts, you will see she makes mistakes from time to time, just like any other human being.
Sorry, our “Forum Communications” person.
Either way, she is not held responsible for the marketing or the design/layout of the purchase options.
I would be inclined to side with Gaile more than I would with an image.
I don’t believe her to be wrong about this issue, and instead I believe its a mistake in the misleading marketing advert.
How is it misinforming?
The Digital Deluxe editions is the Heroic Edition PLUS some Deluxe only stuff. The items themselves ARE from the Heroic edition, but due to the fact that the Deluxe edition is a Heroic+ edition it would be rather silly to not have them included.
I understand everything completely, and don’t need any explanations as to what is considered Digital Deluxe and what is considered Heroic.
My point is I own a Digital Deluxe copy of the game.
According to the image on buy.guildwars2.com, the Digital Deluxe have all of the listed items.
I know that people are not given these items if they have owned the Digital Deluxe version of the game since launch, (obviously or this thread would not exist).
I am asking why players were not retroactively awarded items said to be contained in the Digital Deluxe edition of the game after they were added later.
Every player purchasing the game brand new receives the items in question, regardless of edition selected.
Why are the items listed as part of the editions rather than as a special promotion?
That is why I am saying its bad Marketing/PR.
Our PR person, Gaile (bless her heart) even stated that the items are not part of the digital deluxe edition….. when the image clearly shows otherwise.
It makes no sense.
Lets just award players monthlies for breathing.
“According to our Marketing Team, the items you mention are from the Heroic Edition, not the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Again, if that is indeed what she is referencing, then this becomes rather misinforming.

(I don’t have the items)
I just feel like the whole thing screams bad marketing and misinformation
As an aside, I find it interesting how most (if not all) examples of “You wouldn’t get it in this situation” involve real world, physical goods that must be manufactured rather than digital goods of which there are a limitless supply.
You wouldn’t download a car would you?
@TheBlackLeach
“It is just bad PR, imho. …especially since the players went into an uproar about the same topic in the past and Arenanet did indeed give everyone the exclusive items.”ANet gave everyone the exclusive items in the past? I don’t recall this. What items were those?
As someone already mentioned, the Wizard’kitten
The advert clearly states that new players would receive exclusive items, and after the community went into an uproar, the items were made free for all players.
@Filaha – Didn’t realize “next enemy” behaved that way.(was that a recent change?) That’s very helpful, thank you.
@TheBlackLeech – I can see how that helps you, but the way I play it’s more of a hinderance. Thank you for taking the time to explain, though.
Well, if you are not big on WvW, I will assume you don’t like PvP in general, and spare PvP and WvW related issues from my future explanations.
Here is something you will probably be able to relate to a bit better.
The PvE world is littered with rocks, bushes, fences, and thousands of other obstructions which we call our environment and the game world.
Often times, when an obstruction managed to find its way between yourself and the foe you wanted to fight, you would be completely unable to target it.
This could happen at any moment, even mid fight.
This is an image of one of my characters in Queensdale.
As you can see the landscape is full of Ettins (one is already dead, lol).
The nearest foe to me, would be the Ettin directly in the center of the screen.
The line of sight targeting system would not allow me to target the Ettin by any means. (Target nearest enemy, tab, clicking, etc.) even though it is clearly visible and is hiding behind the tree like something out of a bad cartoon.
Check it out.
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
@ TheBlackLeech & Pray for Kosmos – Why would you want to target something that can’t be hit? Can you please explain why this method works so much better for you than they way it was? Maybe the rest of us are missing something.(I’m serious, not trolling)
And I would definitely like a “target nearest enemy within line of sight” option.
I’ll give you one example at a time, till you realize why this is a good thing.
Attacking players in WvW used to be unable to target foes atop of keeps/towers who were able to rain fire down upon them.
This was due to a problem with the “Line of Sight” targeting that was in the game since launch.
There was a tiny lip on the tower that prevented the game from detecting any enemies if you were on the ground, even though you could clearly see them, and were being attacked by them.
Can you see why this was a problem? Do you think this is a good thing?
Yes, definitely.
Here are some pictures for you
The first image is how the Buy Guild Wars 2 appears now.
The second image is how it used to appear during promotions, and the final image is one of said promotions.
It is without a doubt that the miscommunication occurred in the changes after the employee who was in charge of said designs left the arenanet team.
So basically if they had changed it to say Digital Deluxe Heroic Edition there would be no issues? Or what is your point?
I’m just saying that the way it is presented is misleading. The Digital Deluxe edition did/does not come with these items… it is part of an additional promotion.
Even though that doesn’t really change the way I feel about the whole thing.
In the past, Arenanet has delivered these types bonus items to all players retroactively, not just new signups.
It just feels a bit insulting to see a product, that I purchased for $60 more, have more features added while I get nothing for loyalty.
Also, you can purchase upgrades to your account through the gemstore, but if I already have the “upgrade” there is no way to get the items short of just buying them myself, because technically its a downgrade.
A downgrade to get more items doesn’t seem right.
Also, even if they put a price tag on getting the rewards from the heroic edition through a retroactive discount system, (Like getting these items for 100gems or something) I’d still feel like I was paying for something that I was entitled to.
Finally….. saying that new players need these additional items to boost them up to speed with other players who have been playing since launch is insulting.
Is my time spent in the game not valuable enough that another brand new player can instantly receive items that I worked hard in the past to earn for myself?
Players who play the game longer should always be rewarded for the time they spend in this game or any MMO. If you don’t have anything to show for your dedication to a game, what is the point in dedicating it at all?
It is just bad PR, imho. …especially since the players went into an uproar about the same topic in the past and Arenanet did indeed give everyone the exclusive items.
There are several reasons why this change was implemented.
This is not a bug, and target nearest enemy does exactly what it says it does….
I have been waiting for this change since launch, and I am 100% content with it.
I hope that all of this is a prelude to an expansion.
I’m fairly certain the employee at Arenanet who was in charge of UI design left the team….. so don’t hold your breath.
Yeah, Arenanet…. please nerf Ascalonian Salad.
Its obvious it is a crafting material yet runs around unscathed without being labeled and such.
Demanding a hotfix.
Imo, I would like to see the tooltip updated to say 45 seconds, rather than alter the skill functionality to match the description.
I’m not sure what the point of this is. The forum filters out swear words, whether they have spaces in-between the letters, or not, or have letters before and/or after.
Maybe the point is it needs better AI, to distinguish context. Lol. Maybe the Team can put in a special whatever for the Witch’s head apparel, since that is an item in GW2. I don’t know. But, the others have too many combinations, I would think.
I would think they can add exceptions to the filters. If not….. this thread is indeed pointless.
I wonder if these threads would come up if ANet named the new offering something different than Digital Deluxe. If they named it Digital Heroic for example, I suspect a lot less people would think they are entitled to get what is in it just because they bought the Deluxe in the past.
Yes, definitely.

@ Aidan:
You seem to have never played Guild Wars 1, did you?
Only because the Krait are currently in GW2 mostly seen only in water heavy areas doesn’t mean, that this must be the only territory, where they live.
The Krait in GW1 lived in the Tarnished Coast, very near to the Maguuma Jungle.
They are a metemorphobic race, which are able to evolutionize their appearance fitting to the territory they live in.If you played GW1, then you would know, that all the Krait that we battled at the Tarnished Coast were not living in the water, we battled them all on land where they had like five different evolutional forms and tranformed themself even in while being in combat
Its unbelieveable, how shortsighted and narrowminded people can be here in this forums. Next time inform yourself first, before you open up your mouth for just complaining about things about which you seem to know nothing at all about !
http://wiki-en.guildwars2.com/wiki/KraitThe krait are humanoid from the waist up, with a lizard-like head with protruding horns and scaly skin, and have snake-like tails. They prefer to live underwater, where their tail allows them to be flexible and excellent swimmers, but they are equally able to live on land and are reasonably mobile there
Means just, they can live everywhere on land as like in water territories, deal with it, if you like it or not!
They were forced to leave also their favored home territories mostly by the deep sea dragon. They already had a presence on the Tarnished Coast. Fifty years ago, however, they were forced out of the Unending Ocean’s deepest trenches, their former homeland, by the deep sea dragon’s forces
So who the hell are you to tell me, that none of those many Krait refugees that got forced to leave their original underwater home search for a new home in the Maguuma Jungle to get then into war with the there living Nierr over that territory, cause the Krait don’t care about what other races need, they just take what they want by force, unless there is a bigger force like the deep sea dragon that can easily defeat them…
If you have nothing constructive to say, other than to flame me by telling me I would have “Mary Sued” my concept, when you clearly know nothing about the Krait what is ridiculous and insulting, then please stay out of this thread.
If the Krait are for you and your personal universe of understanding nothing else, than “Ocean Dwellers”, fine, but don’t dare to tell others what a race is, when you clearly don’t have the full understanding about the race you are talking about, viewing them only from the angle, how the race got implemented so far in GW2, when the race has a much longer history in the game and existed already in GW1 clearly showing everyone, that this race is no solely “Ocean Dweller” as you seem to believe, especially when the Krait Lore confirms easily, that they can live everywhere, but just prefer only to live in the water, because out of simple moveability reasons! The picture I put into the attachment should also help only people to get a simpler understandign about, how the Nierr could LOOK LIKE, not how they definetely should look like. It was an artwork, that simple inspired me, nothing more, nothing less.
That people must complain really over every single tiny bullcrap instead of staying for once constructive and just say what they would personally change about a made “concept” (I hope really people know what this word actually means), which is much more useful criticism
Don’t you dare even try to compare krait to anime catgirls.
And another…
Player I: Wow what is that hat on your head and where did you get it?
Player II: That is my Wizard’kitten. A special headpiece given to players during Wintersday 2012.
All of those responses were in regards to percent-off sales, which is not what I’m talking about in this thread.
Look closer.
- “Do longtime players get free items too? (Wizard Hat; Merged)”
- “plus a digital item not available to current players.”
In case you have your stories confused….. we are talking about the same Wizard’kitten that was later added for free for everyone to the gemstore, right?
Meaning everyone playing the game could acquire one, not just new players who were seeing “Get a free wizard’kitten when you buy now” banners.
Arenanet did the right thing and let everyone have them, not just the new people buying the game.
Edited title from: “ArenaNet punishes every existing player.”
When you buy jeans, and the store puts them on sale the next month, do you accuse them of “hating” you? Is that “slapping every single” shopper?
Every seller of any kind of merchandise — from games to jeans to automobiles to burgers — runs limited-time promotions. Those who purchased three months ago had the advantage of playing the game for three months, of leveling characters, of attending the Halloween and Lost Shores event, getting more drops, earning more gold, maybe getting early access or special items with the release products… and on and on. Those coming along later will never be able to go back in time to do those things.
So while I understand you would like to have the lower price, I think you should recognize that you have gained advantages with your earlier purchase.
This is for new accounts.
Don’t forget, those who purchased previously had other opportunities: Beta access, Head-start access, digital items, the post-trial offer, event participation, etc. With each promotion there are different incentives.
All of those responses were in regards to percent-off sales and lower pricing in general, which is not what I’m talking about in this thread.

Just because you played since launch does not mean everything is all cuppycakes and gumdrops, and the door swings both ways.
Actually, no, the door does not swing both ways. What people that bought the game at launch got is two years of playing. It’s something new players won’t have. And in a year or two there will possibly be a new promotion that people starting now won’t get. Does that mean they should wait?
What about people that bought the game at the 50% off sale? Does that mean that everyone that bought it before should have 50% of their money refunded? Yeah, right. It doesn’t work that way – but you already should know that.
apples and oranges.
Not really. You’re saying “I bought this edition so I should get the stuff they now get”. The 50% sale point follows that same logic. Unless you’re just arguing for the sake of it?
No.
There is a big difference between:
Buy the Heroic or Digital Deluxe editions today and receive these bonus items because of a promotion.
and
The Heroic or Digital Deluxe include the following items.
The items are not included in either package unless you are buying the game during the promotion.
If anything, since players are not retroactively receiving these items, they should be listed separately under special promotions, instead of listed in the package I purchased.
They are not part of Heroic or Digital Deluxe editions, they are part of a sales promotion.
Promotion: “Buy Today and receive the following items in addition to your purchase”

If Arenanet were actually working on an expansion, they would let players know.
The only reason to remain silent about something like an expansion is if they aren’t working on one.
Think about it.
I have thought about it. Do you know what announcing anything like an expansion has a bit of science to it. You announce it too early and it’s bad for business. People get a buzz and then a lot of people lose interest over time. Also, sometimes there’s other news in the industry that takes away from your launch. The WoW expansion for example.
When SWToR launched, Rift went dark. No ads, no annoucements, nothing. They knew they couldn’t compete with EA for advertising and so there was no point in putting at an announcement at a time when it would be overshadowed.
Think about it.
Too early? Are we talking about the same game here?
If anything an expansion is long overdue.
Besides, Arenanet are the masters of stretching words like “soon” “its coming”
…so if they announced today, right now, that an expansion was coming soon, players would automatically expect to wait at least a year.
Arenanet could also simply say that “We plan to make an expansion for this game.” without giving any time frame.
The reason they don’t say that is because they probably don’t plan to make an expansion…. at least not until players voice their mind and start gathering the pitchforks.
Arenanet also advertises every single living story and update they pump out with youtube videos and trailers….. nothing about your publicity argument holds any water.
Oh, nice. I will put this thread as a reference in this list.
Nice list. There are several things that are wrong with it.
I’ll refer you to this part:
— I do not agree with your pros and cons.
- These are not mine pros and cons; pros and cons listed here are aggregated from what is usually said in threads on the respective topics.
If you look closely at this thread, you can see most of the points from the list outright mentioned.
Cheers.
I’m sorry…. but I completely fail to see any of your plethora of posts promoting your “list” as helpful. If anything they are spam, and add nothing to the conversation being discussed within these topics.
Nobody cares, so please stop doing it.
On another note, I don’t see marriage coming to GW2, but if it did I would not be opposed.

It is related, because you are not at the disadvantage those who started at least a year late are. Not to mention the items that were removed/replaced with the Heroic Edition.
I’m sure most could afford to buy those items with the Gold they have amassed since launch, so in effect, getting them free. If Boosters weren’t account-bound, I’d willingly send you mine; I have a stack of them sitting in the bank. They aren’t worth much, to me.
If you so desire, you can read the Dev response to your issue over in the Account Issue sub-forum.
Edit: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Digital-Deluxe-Edition-Query/first#post3122138
Good luck.
The game’s gold has also inflated with all of the prices being inflated, in case you have not noticed.
Also what about the things that have cost me hundreds of gold since launch that are no longer in the game?
When Character-bound commander tags went to account bound, I lost out on 100g.
There was no wardrobe system, and I actually did buy a suit of primeval armor…… TWICE because I wanted to use the chest and leg armor on two different characters…. I never got any sort of compensation for that. ….not to mention the t3 cultural armor sets that were purchased for the AP, and transmuted and lost before the wardrobe.
Just because you played since launch does not mean everything is all cuppycakes and gumdrops, and the door swings both ways.
…I’m just saying it would be nice to have these things…. especially since I have supported the game since launch, paid more for the game than new players (which MORE than makes up the cost of buying the gems needed to pay for these items) and could definitely get some use out of them.
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
I just fine salvage kit all the things.
(unless I really want a rune or sigil, then that’s black lion kit ofc)
Fine Salvage kit master race.
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
I have a great idea. How about you give up everything you currently have on your account and start over to get those extra things? No, huh? lol
People who start MMO’s late are at a disadvantage. We don’t need as many experience boosters most of us have 80s. We don’t need bags, mostly because most of us have bags. New people they’re way behind.
If they want a commander tag it’s not 100 gold it’s 300 gold. Everything is inflated since launch.
Do you really think it’s worth waiting to get that stuff? It’s just another way to ease people into the game who are starting with a modest disadvantage.
I, for one, could totally use a mithril box for one of my 11 toons and some extra boosters for future toons, and would totally love a suit of legacy armor.
but …yeah man.
Start my account over.
That’s really related to everything I’m talking about in my original post.
