I’ve made this post several times already. It has been an issues since the alphas. They will never fix it. It is best to use rush as a movement skill instead of for attacking purposes. Same thing with kill shot straight up failing half the time and sending the projectile in some random direction away from the active target.

Believe it or not, it has actually gotten much worse since launch.

Finisher being reset by UI navigation

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

Step 1) Open your hero panel (Push H), and navigate to your finishers. Do not select a finisher, but note which finisher you have selected.
Step 2) Return to the Previous menu

Your finisher has just been reset.

It seems that this occurs once for each time you open your hero panel, and will not happen again until you close your hero panel.

This also does not occur if you select a new finisher while viewing the finisher tab.

Bugs that are just not getting fixed

TheBlackLeech.9360

So….. not a day goes by where I don’t come across a bug that has been in the game since launch or over a year.

While the amount of these bugs is many, it is hard to think of them all at once to compile them into an immediate list.

I encounter them and then forget about them almost immediately after…. because I have encountered them hundreds of times before and have just dismissed them as a lost cause.

Why do we still have so many bugs that have been in the game for over a year?

These bugs can be replicated 100% of the time.

Here are a few things off the top of my head that have been bugged FOR EVER, and no fix has ever been implemented:

1) When Warriors start losing their adrenaline they react as if they are gaining adrenaline. “Adrenaline Rising” “Gaining adrenaline” etc.

2) When pinging a stack of items greater than 250 from the collections tab, the wrong amount appears in the chat code. IE: Ping a stack of 256 and it will show up in chat as one…. ping a stack of 258, and it will show up in chat as 2.

3) Some NPC’s spam their dialogue to the point of hilarity
No, No, No… No, No, No… No, No, No… No, No, No…
Be careful… Be careful… Be careful… Be careful… Be careful…

4) When a mesmer is running forward with his weapon sheathed and uses blink, he will unsheathe his weapon and glide across the floor instead of running.

Anyway…… what’s going on?

Are you guys at Arenanet asleep on the job?
Does the arenanet staff even actually play Guild Wars 2 from time to time?

Can you tell me that nobody plays on a warrior or mesmer, or does dungeons or notices any of these things?

Stealth Classes OP in PvP

Even though the OP is completely hopeless, and he seems to just fail hard at spvp…..

I do still feel that the pvp meta of stacking condi is to blame for his qq moreso than stealth.

Stacking up a bunch of condi then hiding while it ticks away sort of abuses the entire concept behind stealth….

You can’t attack while stealthed….. but you can continue dealing damage (through condi) in stealth….

This is what made PU mesmers such a viable build for the longest time, and you can’t deny that was not overpowered, since anet decided to step in and nerf it.

I really like this suggestion, and to be honest, even if we don’t get the little icon next to our username, the different tiers would add a deeper sense of progression.

It is easier to share boons when you are in a full party during events.

…but if nobody was in a party, all boons would be divided equally.

It is actually much more efficient to not be partied up (if everyone drops party), and it is the meta for World Boss events like Tequatl and Wurm to have everyone going in solo, so any might over 25 stacks gets distributed to nearby players instead, rather than getting capped off and wasted.

The Ranger pet revive in water is OP if you let them survive until they can activate it. On land a downed ranger stands no chance vs. a thief. The thief can easily damage the ranger down or use a finish.
The thief can prevent up to 2 finishes on himself but the ranger only 1 which can be blocked by stability or stealth.
The warrior is better – I have recovered solo on a warrior more than once. A well timed hammer throw can sometimes buy time to get back up with Vengeance and take down your enemy.

….again, you (and many other people) are missing the pet utility skills…. not many people even know the ranger can use them in downed state, and you better believe that those that do definitely (ab)use it.

IE: fight a decent ranger in spvp and he will use his wolf’s fear to interrupt a second stomp…. swap to a pink moa pet, and interrupt a third stomp….

The timing has to be almost perfect on those – a thief uses a ranged blind or uses a stealth before they move in (rather than something which combines those with the move) and you are guessing on the timing for when they do move in to finish.

….really you aren’t…. at least not any more than you are timing any other interrupt.

Try it out.

Superior Air Sigil has 5 sec cooldown, not 3

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

The sigil has a 50% chance to proc on any crit if it is off of cooldown.

That means it does not automatically proc every 3 seconds.

In normal situations, that would be true. However, with the flamethrower and near 100% crit chance, it should proc pretty quick after it comes off cooldown.

This is very clearly demonstrated with the Superior Sigil of Fire: it procs just a little over every 5 seconds. There is no reason why Superior Sigil of Air would proc at the exact same times for minutes on end.

If you have experienced it proccing twice in a 3 second window, I would like to see evidence of that. As far as I’ve been able to see, ANET just didn’t change the cooldown even though they said they did. Maybe the programmers simply forgot to implement the change.

At this point, there is barely any reason to pick Air over Fire. That would be different with a lower (the right) cooldown on Air.

maybe the sigils share an icd.

I tested the air sigil without sigil of fire.

TheBlackLeech.9360

While, I do believe downed state is a separate-but-equal situation for most classes…. the ranger has a blatant unfair advantage.

A ranger is able to use his pet utility skills as well as pet swap while in downed state.

That gives the ranger his normal downed state interrupt and pet res…. and two additional skills that can interrupt, immobilize, fear, etc. an enemy player from attempting a stomp.

This in combination with the ability to have your pet revive you is definitely not balanced.

I would not doubt that it was yet another ranger + pet oversight that arenanet has no idea about, and won’t even get nerfed until people complain about it enough.

There is also a superstition that players have regarding loot and kill credit.

It has been debunked a hundred times over and yet people still do it as some sort of good-luck juju to ensure they get guaranteed drops like champ bags or world boss chests.

Personally, I think its funny that the players who defend the party-up for loot thing have never once brought forth a shred of proof that it actually changes anything (lack of credit and rewards is almost always attributed to lack of participation/dps)…. but its harmless enough.

All I am reminded of is how people swear holding down some arbitrary button when catching a pokemon actually helps.

Now it’s madness and fact that 10 days isn’t enough to fix it is like a bad joke.

I agree the fix should have been implemented already, but I also must stress that the issue is the animation which was added in the update and not the refresh rate.

It’s both. There was no reason to refresh the whole list just to update a roster on one of the groups. I might have agreed with you if the refresh happened only on adding/removing a group, but doing it when all that changes is one player being added or removed from a single group on a list… That would be a problem even without the animation.

you wouldn’t even notice if the animation never played.

Having an lfg tool under high traffic is going to be almost just as frustrating nomatter how streamline the tool actually is, and its minor flaws are only really showing due to the immense amount of traffic.

There weren’t much problems with lfg before that last change that broke it. Also, saying that “LFG is not broken, it’s just not working right in the categories where it is most needed” means, that it’s not working right for majority of people that use the system. Ergo, it is broken.

I’m saying it isn’t perfect, and the only reason the flaws are being noticed is because there is a different underlying issue compounding all the tiny problems into a bigger problem.

Even if we had the old system still, we had a perfect system, or have the system we are currently using, we would still have the same problems.

Sure, if the issues we are having do get changed, that’d be great……. but in a 100% perfect lfg tool there is no way to have a perfect balance of keeping old stuff on there longer versus refreshing faster.

With the old lfg system, there was a slower refresh rate, and after being up there for some time they would finally fade away, and everything would shift to fill up the empty space.

With the new lfg system, there is a much faster refresh rate, and it refreshes immediately when a new LFG is added or removed, the only problem is that there is a scrolling animation that needs to be fixed.

Lowering the refresh rate is a bad idea. Regardless of how long you let an lfg sit there before it disappears, it still has to disappear at some point, and it is going to shift everything whether it happens instantly or after 5 seconds.

I’m saying the scroll animation needs to be removed, and don’t change the refresh rate at all.

If you open up your task manager on your computer and sort the processes by cpu usage, you will see what I’m talking about.

It instantly refreshes, and works perfectly……

now imagine if every time an item changed its position in the list, there was a scroll animation that played.

The scrolling would never stop.

The problem is the scroll animation and not the refresh rate.

Please fix the LFG refresh rate

TheBlackLeech.9360

I don’t think the players themselves actually understand what they want.

You don’t want the entire lfg to refresh instantly when a new lfg is posted, or one is filled and removed…. but you DO want it up to date, so you aren’t scrolling through old and filled lfgs before they disappear.

A fast refreshing the lfg in general is a wonderful thing.

The heavy Silverwastes traffic and lfg spam is to blame moreso than the lfg coding for the problems people are having with joining parties.

I mean…. you don’t see the problem anywhere else except open world content.

What needs to be done is, add newer lfg’s to the bottom of the list, and keep existing non-filled lfgs where they are, and don’t refresh the entire list of lfgs.

When an LFG is filled, move everything below it upward.

Another issue is the scroll animation.

The scrolling animation from the right to left, while it may be aesthetically pleasing to see under low traffic, becomes a joke during high traffic.

The animation plays long enough that an lfg may be filled or created in that time, the lfg refreshes, and the scrolling starts all over again.

Removing the scroll animation from the lfg utility will fix the problems encountered with high lfg traffic.

Though, this will not really help as much as people think it will.

Having an lfg tool under high traffic is going to be almost just as frustrating nomatter how streamline the tool actually is, and its minor flaws are only really showing due to the immense amount of traffic.

You are still going to have problems joining parties before they are filled, since 923487293842938472 people can’t all join the same 90% SW party at once.

RNG as a concept: Discuss

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

On an individual level this means that while almost everyone falls into a reasonable range in the middle, there are outliers on each side of the distribution that are either highly rewarded or not rewarded at all. These individuals become sample cases and spotlights for experiences that maybe shouldn’t exist.

This statement here is why the total levels of RNG in an MMO should be kept to a minimum.

Some players are rewarded consistently for doing minimal work, while others are never rewarded for doing copious amounts of work.

I do agree that RNG has its place in any loot table…. but RNG should not determine over 90% of a player’s wealth.

As it stands now, the only guaranteed way to make decent guaranteed money in the game is by doing one of each dungeon path once a day.

or… guild missions after a weekly reset.

(not including of course offering services to other players for a price, ie: selling dungeon paths)

While world boss events do reward players with an increased quality of the reward in the form of rare items, said items are still heavily influenced on RNG….. and unless the guaranteed rares are sold on the trading post, they are usually salvaged and put through more RNG.

Guaranteed rares for completing a mindless task has essentially just lowered the price of rares to the point where they are barely even a worthy source of player income.

There needs to be more non-RNG-based loot behind challenging and repeatable content.

This will solve many of the gripes about RNG, while simultaneously giving players the end-game content they have been asking for.

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

why is this post here instead of our server forums, do you even know the url? I dont rly see the need to air our dirty laundry for the whole game.

I havent seen you in wvw in ages leech. sirbeau I think youve been in TS maybe 3 times ever and I know youre an active wvw’r.

all the old sor ppl knew are gone. infact when the night commander logs out it even ceases to be a community. the community only exists in the minds of the ppl participating.

how do you fix this? by getting involved with us still trying to form a new community. this means getting vocal, getting on ts, getting on our forums and not asking why in public channels. we need to look within, make ourselves strong and be successful, not by the standards of others, but in our own right.

ps Ill look for you in game krustydog, add me as well, maybe we can get something coordinated

The reason this is in the WvW forum is because WvW is the only place where servers actually matter anymore thanks to megaserver.

As far as my absence goes, I did WvW on SoR with my guild, and half of the members in my guild left to form a new guild on Db or transferred to SoS for better WvW….

…and it is not that I don’t still enter WvW either….

It is that WvW as I know it no longer even exists on SoR.

All we have atm is karma train…. and if all you want to do is karma train you might as well just Eotm.

When my guild started getting serious about WvW, SoR had already been dragging at the bottom for quite some time.
We pushed as hard as we could to get SoR’s recovery started from its bottom position on the ladder…
We knew if we could get WvW back, the server would come back to life, and we talked about how great it would be if we were the ones to make it happen and put the gears in motion.

…but as I said earlier…. When all of our guild members who were serious about WvW realized we were wasted potential on SoR, they simply transferred.

WvW is about coverage above all else, and regardless of how well you play…. if you don’t have the coverage, you don’t win the matchups.

One guild does not make or break a WvW server, and case in point with my guild…. when the weight of the server weighed down upon our shoulders, we cracked and fragmented.

Our guild was not able to be successful on four different maps at once, 24 hours a day…. and yet there were no other guilds that showed up or came out of hiding to create a snowball effect of players returning to WvW, or fill in the gaps of our downtime.

Too much responsibility being placed on our guild, because there was nobody else with the numbers or the leadership to man up and take care of business when we weren’t around.
So I ask you….
How big of a following do you need to get the ball rolling?
A guild of 500 active players was not enough to spark any new interest in WvW.

And don’t even attempt to try and promote or plug SoR’s "official teamspeak "because it is just a bunch of entitled crybaby nobodies who attempt to try and run the show, and instead continue to run the server into the ground.

We could definitely do with a fresh start with a new teamspeak complete with new administration and moderation if things are ever going to go any differently.

SoR WvW died when all the internal organs (the players who made it live) evacuated the body. Now all that’s left is the hollow husk of a shell with the same name on it. Give it up dude. If you want to WvW. go find a serious community of WvW’rs who don’t get bound up with the mental constructs of what server name they’re fighting for, and instead play to win whatever match up they face.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, (that I can just jump on the bandwagon and server swap like everyone else).

I’m asking how to rejuvenate a server…. not help kill it.

Hopefully this thread gets some gears turning inside people’s heads, (both in the player community and with Anet) about WvW in general.

What do we do with a dead server with no way of bringing it back to life?

Hundreds and hundreds of players have been leaving SoR to pursue a more worthwhile WvW experience.

With the introduction of the megaserver system, it is impossible to tell homeworld populations…. but I would be willing to bet that this mass exodus has actually killed the server.

So I ask you…..

How can we recover?

Are you guys, (and is Arenanet) opposed to merging two less-populated servers to garner more WvW players/coverage?

…so what is this nerf?

I’m not understanding what happened.

I used to play power necro in spvp…. what’s changed?

Edit:
So I watched the China v NA tourney and the nerf is clearly about summoning minions before the match starts to build up DS…. and you can’t do it any more.

As someone who played power necro in spvp and tpvp, i can say that I never once did this…. and I welcome its change.

You build up DS insanely fast with Axe 2 or dagger autos anyway.

If players were somehow relying on this to gain an advantage, it is a minor one and good players will get along just fine without it.

Necro’s were able to use some utility skills to build up some Life force before the match started (such as using minions, and then replacing the minions with your wanted utilities before countdown reached 0). Now, this is not possible anymore and we have to start with 0% LF. For a condi necro especially this is a pretty big nerf.

Terrormancer was op anyway, and if this is the route Anet decided to go about a nerf…. you should be happy.

the build is still more than viable…. its just that you won’t have a pillowy death shroud cloud to ride into (your first) battle on.

Do you prefer brandy or water?

Personally, I don’t like Guild Wars 2 being compared to World of Warcraft.

Apples and oranges.

Sure both are fruit….. but they are also very different.

Of course nobody can tell you you are wrong for preferring one over the other….

…but we can tell you are wrong for trying to compare them.

Guild Wars 2 is a good game in many aspects….. but I agree it is lacking substance.

It is hard to keep me entertained with these small bi-weekly content packets.

We need an expansion, and soon.

I can’t be the only person who logs in and thinks ….what is there to do and come to the same exact list every single day…

Dungeons?

Fractals?

PvP?

WvW?

Should I make toon number 12?

Should I work for another legendary?

I’m sort-of bored of doing the same dungeons that have been in the game since launch every day for over two years, and FotM is just a glorified dungeon.

PvP is now boring, since I had nothing else to do in the game for so long, hit r80, and now I’m bored of it as well.

WvW on my server is completely dead.

I’m putting off making toon number 12 because I never play toon 11 (my second mesmer…. though my second warrior and second guardian do get some use)

I have already made all the “cool” legendaries…. and everything else is rainbows and/or glitter….

Sure on patch days (every 2 weeks) we are given another bite of the Living Story sandwich….. but I’m starving….. and I want sustenance.

An expansion for Guild Wars 2 would be just what the doctor ordered.

Those items are part of a mentor’s kit…..

For your next character!
(since you just beat the game on that one)

Lol…I have 9 level 80 toons, all with 100% map completion and 2 with PS completion. I have a stack of “mentor” items in the vault collecting dust.

However the point is my toon that just finished the personal story, saved tyria and all that jazz is the one that should get a commensurate reward, NOT my next character.

I’ve got 11 toons, all of which have their PS done….. and back in my day, we didn’t get any fancy rewards…. except a pact victory token and a few boxes with yellow ribbons that always contained green items 100% of the time (I’m pretty sure they still give you those same boxes as part of the reward, but you can actually get masterwork OR HIGHER gear now).

I have done the PS two times since the update to the rewards, and I must say that compared to what they used to be, they are pretty nice.

I did end up tossing the armor pieces, but the tomes I’m saving for my next 80.

Anet trying to reduce its player base?

I hold fast in my belief that Anet is demonstrating a disregard, perhaps even a distaste, for its veteran core group with its insistence in continuing the path it’s on with little emphasis to actually fixing long-standing bugs or introducing meaningful content. That is my belief, and I am entitled to it just as, sir/madam, you are yours.

Dude….. it makes sense!

They don’t want veteran players playing because we play more…. we play every day, and we put strain on the servers.

We earn most of the things we want from the gemstore by converting gold to gems…..

They want everyone to be casuals…. so that we log in once or twice a week, and occasionally buy a gemstore item with cash or something.
