You are never losing a match so badly that you cannot win until the enemy has 400+ points.

Even then I’ve played 4v5 and it looked like we were going to lose…. the enemy had 350+ pts and we had 60 something then had our 5th reconnect and we pulled through and won the match.

I don’t think that is going to be the case every time…. but if you put the abandon system into the game, you remove the chance that it could happen entirely.

If you all agree to throw the match, you can just let the enemy triple cap, and feed them kills without attacking back.

The loss will come soon enough.

chances are they just didn’t think it thru enough when they 1st created the structure of items and how they will be used/double clicked.

since they didn’t include it from the beginning, they have to go in and add the functionality to every item that needs consume all, 1 by 1.

I am a software engineer. What you are claiming is that EVERY STINKING ITEM in the game has its own menu generation code. I think the likelihood of that is slightly less than my chances of winning the Powerball lottery.

If the developers actually played their own game, they would know which consumables should have the consume all option.

Try this is you are having trouble.

I don’t exactly want everyone copying my build…. cuz it will get nerfed…. so you will have to decipher this on your own…. but this is a really nice setup.

Lots of sustain, dps, condi clear, boon strip, unblockable attacks, and life stealing.

Prob druid. It can’t lose any 1v1 and can resolve every matchup but the most tanky builds.

Mesmer- stalemate
Ele- killed (slow)
Necro- killed (slow)
Engie- stalemate
Druid- n/a
Theif- killed
Warrior- killed
Rev- killed
Guard- killed

I have yet to meet a druid that even came close to killing me 1v1 on my reaper.

You literally can’t even hold the cap if you are fighting me 1v1, and if you try and hold a cap/decap you will die without a doubt.

Admittedly they have good sustain…. but boonstrip > druid…. sorry.

Depend on how much LF you have left rly.

If you don’t have Reaper Shroud Active, you’d be CCed by Druid endless and die eventually. Reaper has no chance to fight Druid when the LF runs out.
Even with LF, it’d be a close match-up since Celes has decent damage from Bristleback and Strength of the Pack.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Shroud is more for a finishing blow than anything.

…and fyi I don’t run the “meta” necro build because imho its not good.

Bringing gliding into the core game would be a wonderful opportunity to showcase HoT only features to the F2P playerbase and encourage them to buy the expansion.

F2P players, of course, would not be able to deploy gliders….. but they would be able to see other players gliding…. which I feel is a strong selling point for the expansion.

Anet… you could start small…. one or two town maps at a time.

Lions arch…. then next update… Hoelbrak and The Black Citadel…. then The Grove and Rata Sum…. etc.

Then eventually start branching out to the explorable maps.

All you need is a little beta testing to see where players can reach with the gliders…. determine if you want them to be able to reach those areas or not…. and then adjust things accordingly.

F2P Is lacking

All they would have to do is put gliding into the core game somehow….. like allow ppl to glide around in LA….. and all the f2p players would ooh and aah over it.

Runescape did it this way…. where the pay to play players could show off their p2p shinies to the f2p players….. but hey…. lets just lock everything behind a pay wall and not even allow the f2p ppl to take a look through the keyhole to see whats on the other side.

To sum up the Condi clear:
Empathic Bond (3 per 10s)
Healing Spring (12 per 24s)
Druidic Clarity (All per AF use (10s charge time after leaving af))
Seed of Life (2 per 1s in AF)
Sunless runes + natural stride (half duration of chill/cripple/immob)

All of this heavily leans the match towards the condi druids favor. Most rangers run power or celestial so you will have easy matches the majority of the time though.

implying i run condi…. and implying condi works against necro… lmao

A reaper with a full life force bar would be the best for dueling imho.

…but reapers begin the match with 0% life force.

Pulsing stability and lots of CC, chill, stun, cripple, boonstrip, condi removal, life steal, unblockable attacks, etc.

The trick is to get your enemy to about 50% hp then stunlock them with shroud 3 and 5, and warhorn 4… or drop your wells on an immobilized or deep-frozen target.

At the start of the match u really don’t have anything to worry about from an enemy reaper… but if he got some life force from somewhere…. watch the kitten out.

Also sometimes, when keeping the movement keys pressed while being immobilized, after it breaks i have to let go and press the keys again or the character wont move.

Yep…. this is 100% testable and reproducible.

Anywhere in the game where immobilize can be applied…. if you are attempting to move in a straight line when it is applied, and continue holding the keys for that same direction, you will still be rooted in place after the condition ends…. until you release the keys and push them again.

Being a pvp player, I’ve noticed that when enemies do not travel in a straight line, (heading straight for you the way they do in pve), several gap closer skills simply send you in the completely wrong direction, way beyond the target, or you never even connect with the target.

Warrior GS 5 (rush) is the worst when it comes to this issue….. but with the release of HoT, Reaper shroud #2 is now part of the list of skills that simply fail to connect with the target.

I would REALLY like to see Anet fix this problem… it might even make warriors a little more usable in pvp.

There is no reason why an issue should persist for years after it has been discovered.

No exceptions.

The system is perfectly fine except for the fact that you can’t lose divisions.

Everyone makes it through amber, emerald, and even sapphire if you play enough.

Once you get to Ruby, you can’t rely on getting lucky any more and you actually need to win more than you lose in order to progress to diamond.

The problem is that….. since everyone can make it to ruby just by grinding long enough…. and ruby is the first division where not everyone can progress…. all the horrible players get trapped in ruby forever and ever and ever.

They can’t down rank back to sapphire no matter how many times they lose…. and they will never make it to diamond since they are not skilled enough for it…. so they rot in ruby all day long, due to a flaw in the system.

This not only causes a problem for those players…. since they will be losing a majority of their matches for being in a bracket that is too skilled…. but it also causes headaches for legitimately ruby skilled players wo keep getting matched with braindead teammates who don’t belong in ruby.

Gw2 had the potential to be the best MMO ever created…. and instead, Anet chose to squeeze as much money out of people as they could while delivering a mediocre gaming experience.

If they simply put the quality of their product before the dollar signs, the revenue would have followed.

Instead, they went for the money…. and now they have a mediocre product and mediocre income.

…and things are only going to get worse as time goes on until they either release quality content, or they no longer have the funds to continue pretending.

Those in charge of GW Guru were responsible for thousands of players losing their GW1 accounts.

They were corrupt. They stole credentials from their users and attempted to use them wherever they could to gain access to e-mail, or gw1 accounts.

They did not allow fun in any way shape or form.

I was banned from the site for making my password “gurublows.”

How on earth could someone know that unless they were looking through everyone’s login credentials?

Forget that.

I was not about to allow them to continue their tyranny for Gw2.

We don’t need to attract any more pve kittenters into pvp by dangling some carrot in front of them that they can’t get otherwise.

ruby isn’t better, it turns full aids with people running 4-5 bunker builds per team

2 days into ruby so far and I want to gouge my eyes out playing solo que vs the 2-3 tempest 2-3 mes comps

Its funny you say this… because last night I played a match where everything seemed pretty normal until the enemy team attempted to push our lord.

It ended up being a 5v5 on top of our lord….. and it stayed that way until the end of the match….. nobody died on my team or on the enemy team, and the lord had full hp the entire time…

It was then I realized that everyone was playing bunker/celestial and, I would compare it to two little kids trying to shoot eachother to death with nerf guns.

To help get us closer to where we want to be, we’ll simultaneously roll out changes to the salvaging of some materials. Some of these changes will reduce output to help us maintain scarcity, and some will rebalance heavily input materials with more rare materials to help even out some of the variation of scarcity we currently have.

Same for me as Monica. Are the ‘easy in sapphire’ guys perhaps a dragon hunter or reaper? Those profs, stacked seem to win 70% of time (i’m often matched against them).

I was indeed playing reaper when I sliced through Sapphire like a hot knife through butter.

I had a really late start…. and I’ve been struggling to make it out of emerald, and have lost that last pip ive needed to make sapphire a couple times now….

Every time its due to some d/c or some braindead guy who has no idea what he is doing.

I only hope things get better in sapphire…. and I can sort of feel what you are saying already.

The problem is that everyone starts in the gutter…pro players and filthy cashews and must claw over eachother to progress.

The only way around this is to team q through amber and emerald.

Experienced solo q’ers get screwed by getting matched with the gutter trash until they start getting matched with better teammates.

It’s like running a marathon…. and you know you are faster than everyone else….. but you can’t physically run through someone….. so you have to jog behind 7 slow people till you muscle your way past them.

A really dumb system….. and we should maintain our league position for next time around so this crap doesn’t happen again.

This year is “year of the ascension” maybe next year will be the “year of playing in the division where you actually belong”

here’s an update after i hit sapphire…. things going very smoothly so far.

update….. I just hit ruby….. getting through sapphire took about 1/10th the time it did to get through emerald.

One full nights worth of playing.

Question about stability

Stability is a stacking buff.

If your stability prevents a CC, then a stack is removed.

If you have one stack of stability and get cc’d twice, the second cc will still have its full effects on you.

Alternatively…. some skills convert boons into conditions, and stability is converted into fear.

You couldn’t take henchmen into end game content. They weren’t allowed in Underworld or Fissure of Woe. It was players or go home.

Heroes changed all of this, tho.

They didn’t. You could only take 3 heroes into the end game areas for the longest time. And I’m relatively certain most people can’t run DOA with three heroes. Or Slavers.

If one person in a thousand could, I’d be quite surprised.

i did o/

i finished every dungeon/ elite missions in gw1 with heroes/hench except for the underworld, because i just couldn’t do the horsemen.

then one day, JOY! i did the horsemen, only to then fail on the bit in the ice wastes with the fire-happy spiders

my soul died and i never tried again QQ.

You finished DOA and Slavers with only 3 heroes and no henchmen?

I think slavers you could take henchmen. The GWEN henchies wernt that bad.

And I’m sure someone was “soloing” DOA with 3 hero’s with a special farming build.

Definitely…. my old guild leader used to farm doa with heroes all the time.

All a pointless debate as now it’s 7 hero cap.

There is a bug where each server space reserved for the Wintersday JP can be occupied by a map with only one person on it.

There is no more room for new servers, and the servers in use are either
Filled to the brim
or
Empty except for one person.

That… in combination with the jp being the most efficient way to earn gifts… creates a problem.

The only reason why anet has extended the time constraint on the items and not lowered the amount of items required is because it encourages more people to buy more game currency with real life cash.

Think about it.

This is no different than one of those facebook games that wants you to complete an impossible task in a week for a cool reward… when the week is up…. none of your progress matters and in comes a new item under the same constraint.

If you don’t already have the in game cash to spend (~800g) The only way to complete the task is to buy currency, unless you farm nonstop for two weeks.

Extending the time limit will do nothing but increase the total cost it will take for players to complete the task, as the supply begins to dwindle after the event.

Its a scam.

The problems with the ladder system are
1) its Farmable.
If you are horrible… you can still have a chance to progress if you continue to ram your face into the wall over and over and over again. You just have to have the patience to keep trying over and over and over and over again.

2) its Holding back experienced players.
Experienced players, (unless they team queued through emerald and sapphire… or got an early start) get stuck with kittenters on their teams and end up losing matches to other kittenters, and as a result get graded as kitten tier…. even though their skill level is well above the rest.

you should stop progression and hit a 50/50 win/loss ratio in the tier where you belong.

…and you should not get slammed hard with a 50/50 w/l from the start of amber simply because you keep getting some braindead mutant on your team who has no idea what pvp is or how to play it.

I’m over halfway through emerald….. and the biggest problem is being put with people who have no kittening clue what they are doing for all of amber and the first half of emerald.

Now, I’m finally starting to be put with other players who at least have some notion of how the game should be played….

…but if you solo q, you are going to have to suffer through a 50% win/loss ratio, and ram your head into that wall over and over and over until you break through.

They should honestly save our rankings when the season ends. for next time… and not force players to claw over eachother to get out of the kittenhole gutter tier all over again.

The best way to avoid this is to team q until you make it through amber and emerald.

Lesson learned, I suppose….. but at least I know what to do for next time.

RIP my MMR.

I didn’t tank it on purpose….. but believe me…. getting matched with people who don’t even know how to leave the spawn, really helped me with that.

You dont understand my point. I wanna be rewarded and ranked up by my personal success. I dont wanna fail nor success due to others in team. I am sure I am not only one player who prefer soloQ over teamQ.

Doing what earns you the best personal score has never ever meant you are doing what is best for the team.

If PS determined how you ranked up….. everyone would be triple capping, double stomping, etc.

I was really excited to hear Rytlock went into the mists with his sword to stop the Ascalon ghosts at the end of LS S2….. yet the ghosts still persist after the release of the expansion.

It would have been an excellent addition to the HoT release to see the ghosts taken out once and for all, and have those areas reworked.

In GW1, they overhauled almost all of factions, replacing most of the afflicted with Ministry.

We won’t get that sort of treatment for GW2 tho it would seem….

more missed opportunities to make the game really great….. and instead its just mediocre.

IMHO This pvp “meta” is nothing more than broken imbalance, and anyone playing pvp right now has no desire for skilled play.

I’ll be waiting for some serious balances to occur before I even set foot back into pvp.
…and when I see someone with the icon I honestly look down upon them.

(It basically means they have no problem running imba cancer…. no respect)

Its sad because I have been dying for a ladder reset (I seem to miss my chance every time to do ranked) and now that I can…. I don’t even want to.

I’m pretty sure a majority of the player base who actually cares about pvp isn’t participating either.
