I expressed all of these concerns over 4 months ago.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/The-Biggest-Concern-about-HoT/first

The “expansion” we see in the “beta” is literally just the next southsun cove, drytop, silverwastes, etc. map.

Something players would have gotten for free in its entirety a long time ago if anet did not decide to start withholding living story releases in order to bundle them up and sell them as an expansion.

All I can say is…. if anet is damming up all these ls releases, and we don’t get more content (that we would have gotten sooner, more often, and for free through the old system) There is going to be hell to pay.

The whole prepurchase thing is at best a kickstarter to fund the creation of an actual expansion.

Buy whats behind the curtain….. but there literally isn’t anything there yet until enough people buy it….and they have the cash to fund its creation.

Chronomancer is disgusting

TheBlackLeech.9360

The amount of “its fine” in this thread is astounding…. people were already complaining about mesmers being broken….. and with chronomancer, they are even more broken.

Why is it whenever I see people complaining about something legitimate that needs nerfing there are always the trolls that come out of the woodwork to say its a l2p issue.

Discussing tweaking something overpowered in pvp, and all the baddies immediately go all gollum from lord or the rings, and start yelling “my precious” when u try to take it away from them.

We all know its overpowered.
It happens.

That is why we have beta tests.

Defending chronomancer’s current state because you need to use it as a crutch in order to do well in spvp is sad.

The main reason it is still kitten in pvp is because their gap closers just don’t connect with their intended targets 80% of the time.

They have no shadowsteps or blinks…

…and the only thing they really have going for themselves atm is rampage.

Which class is most faceroll?

in PvP

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

The class easiest for beginners to play is LB/GS Power Ranger.

You don’t need to fight on point, and you can rek ppl from 1500 range.

Bring entangle for extra lols since Anet refuses to address the broken immobilize mechanics which are not working as intended (midair immob, immob presisting after the condition is removed, etc).

….and for the cherry on the sundae, give the class two utilities that provide invulnerability, a trait that applies stability below 50% hp & a signet that does the same, and the furthest gap finisher in the game so the ranger can make his escape when someone tries to roll up on him.

The class with the highest skill cap is thief. Once you master the profession, it is easily one of the most powerful professions in pvp.

There are so many intricacies that are involved with thief, that it takes a long time to know/understand them all.

Little things like aiming your camera down to heartseeker multiple times through your blinding powder without getting too far away from it.

Shadowstepping into a fight from behind cover, so when you make your getaway your back is protected.

Managing initiative and using skills to their potential instead of just using whatever skill is off of cooldown.

Knowing when to escape a fight versus knowing when to make it look like you escaped to get another free shot at spiking a foe down.

How to leave your foe baffled as to what you are going to do next, or when you are going to strike.

Knowing what professions have what items for stealing, and how you can use them to your advantage. (ie: steal from a warrior when he is using his ranged weapon)

Too much to even list in this thread.

Sadly, the class is a bit overpowered in the hands of some.

The mobility and escape is always there without sacrificing any damage potential…. you just need to know what you are doing…. because a noob will simply not be able to play the class without some extensive knowledge.

…and I doubt anyone at Anet even plays thief the way some hardcore pvp thieves do to realize just how strong a skilled thief can be.

The price of rares on TP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

Rares are worth next to nothing because players set the prices of these items.

There is an enormous influx of rares into the game every single day, but only a few different reasons why players would want to purchase additional rares from other players via the trading post.

First off, players are showered in guaranteed rare items, from several areas of the game. This sets the supply of this item very high.

Since players almost always strive to equip their characters with exotic or better gear, the gear is rarely purchased for the purpose of equipping characters. (lack of demand for gearing purposes)

Rares (lvl 70+) will always be linked to the price of ectoplasm. This means that when ectos are low, rares will be low also.
This is due to the fact that ectoplasm can be salvaged from rares.

Ectos spiked up around june/july due to a patch, and now ecto prices are slowly returning to normal…. so if you see the prices going down recently in rares, the price of ectoplasm had skyrocketed and is stabilizing, so rares will drop in price also.

Next, players who want to use the mystic forge to gamble for precursors often times throw in many rares at a time. Arenanet has announced that new legendaries are to be released with the expansion, and therefore many players are simply waiting to see what the new legendaries are going to be before crafting a legendary themselves. Less legendary crafting = Less precursor gambling, and a lower demand for rares, so a lower price.

Burn Guard actually less powerful after 6/23

in PvP

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

The only true thing you have said is the burn damage from before patch :/ Condition removals are still there. Before patch what? You could do 1k a tick at a push but you cant load burns but nor cant you just fire them and leave them because of how much condition removal is in the game over time you end up doing less damage before than being able to front load say an easy 5 burns ( Zfire, Zflame and passive ) and do the 6k damage instead of doing maybe 1 or 2k to them have it removed and no no more.

Not only can you stack it to do more damage per tick then before consistently but you can also front load it and get a load of damage upfront and not give people a whole load of time to casually remove it.

No matter how its looked at burn is strong now than before patch. Saying burn before was stronger is an extremely false statement. No two ways. Only way it was better before patch is when it was returned to you you didnt condi spike yourself.

The pressure was constant…. always applied…. even if you removed it, it came right back…. a steady persistent burn.

Now, you are dealing less damage overall, and the pressure is completely absent.

…and even if you did blow all of your cooldowns at once, you get a 3s timeframe where you “burst” ~9k dmg and then you have nothing… and your dps screeches to a halt.

In a fight that lasts 30 seconds, you are screwed.

Before, you would win, easily…. hands down.

“and might has always buffed condi damage…. before and after patch.”
My quote was about vulnerability not might :/ Before patch vulnerability didnt.

befroe patch your burns would tick 1k, 1k, 1k 1k and it would still get cleansed with 5s on it so 5s wasted damage.
after patch you can tick 1.2k, 2,k, 3k, 2k, and these stacks are always falling off and going on so less burn goes to wasted opposed to before patch.

in essence before patch to do 9k damage with burns it would take 9s. after patch it can take anywhere from 3~6s for example depending on a few things.

there is no legitimate way you are correct from a mathematical standpoint. Burn after patch mathematically will do more damage than before. The only way it wont is if you are constantly spamming someone will 1 stack after 1 stack has fallen off.

You can refute this point all you want but you will always be incorrect :/ the one who is incorrigible is you not us. Unless you dont know how to stack burns fast enough to burst burn for huge damage :/

Again you are right….. you can deal 9k burning damage in 3 seconds….. and then what happens?

You’ve used all your cooldowns to tick for a little over 3k a tick for 3 ticks…. and then there is a huge dropoff.

If you can put your maths on hold for just a moment and look at some real in game numbers for a second…. you will see that nothing I’ve stated is false.

Condition damage is simply more front loaded than it was before.

Just because you can blow your load completely (which is something you don’t even do to begin with) and stack burning for 3.2k for 3 whole seconds…. doesn’t mean you have a constant upkeep of that damage.

You are reduced to the virtue of justice proc…. which is 2 stacks of burning every 3 attacks…. which doesn’t even wrap.

I know of many other classes in pvp atm that can deal much more damage than 9k in a 3s timeframe…. without the “burnout” of sitting there with all your cooldowns blown.

so what you’re saying is you can stack a burn on someone and then sit their cackling like “You’re gonna be in real trouble in 45 seconds!”

when burn stacked duration you could use as many burn skills as you like, heck, get 2 minutes of burn stacked up! you’ll still be doing the same damage each seconds as you would from applying one burn.
now you can really lay on the pain, wanna see something HILARIOUS?
spec for burns, grab the 2 traits that effect virtue of justice (aoe, and proc every 3 hits) and take a staff to the big group of training dummies, its a beautiful sight to behold!

Hitting 5 targets every attack at best applies 3 stacks of burning…. and to one of the targets… 1 or two stacks to some of the others.

What’s so hilarious?

TheBlackLeech.9360

Hey guys…. I just wanted to point out a few things about all this burn guardian qq happening in pvp atm.

First things first…. burn guardians have been a thing for almost a year now, and they are actually much less powerful after the June 23rd patch.

Yes, there is the whole burning condition stacking thing that many of you are focusing on in your reasoning as to why it needs to be nerfed…. but I assure you, the build has always been scary… and it is actually far less scary after the patch where you guys are claiming it became broken.

Lets, for the sake of argument…. hop into our time machine…. and go back eight months ago.

…to this thread.

The name of the thread is “It’s Totally Viable (It really isn’t)”

…and someone brings up a “full condition damage guardian” and wants to add it to the list of builds that are a joke.

…and what you will see is several players who actually have been running condi guardians in pvp coming out of the woodwork to set the misinformed player straight about how condition damage guardians are so much better than your regular medi guard.

Most players, who had yet to see the burn guard in action made statements like “the condition damage is wasted if burn is the only condition guardian has” or “it only works on paper” etc.

Well… guess what?

People finally caught on a little bit before the June 23rd patch….
and many Guardians are still running condition damage in pvp.

…but the best part of all of this…. is that players never really complained about the build because it was still unknown to most of the playerbase.

There was never a meta build posted on a site such a metabattle for condition damage guardian… and to my knowledge there still isn’t anything posted on the particular build I’ve been running (for over a year now), till this day.

Why?

…because nobody knew about it… and if the playerbase did… it would have started spreading around like malaria, and it would have gotten nerfed fairly quickly.

Flash forward back to today…

Now that burning stacks in intensity instead of duration…. many players are complaining about how overpowered it is…. and I do agree…. standing in a burning field and accumulating multiple stacks of burning will drop you like a stone in a pond.

…but you guys obviously have no idea how powerful condition damage guardian was before the June 23rd update.

Our traits have been nerfed…

including Amplified Wrath
(which had its effectiveness more than halved as it used to be a 33% increase in burning damage)
and
Fiery Wrath
(which also saw a 30% decrease in effectiveness)

That, when combined with the new formula for how much damage burn does does per stack….
(0.155 * Condition Damage) + (1.55 * Level) + 7.5 damage per stack per second
(0.155 * Condition Damage) + 131.5 damage per stack per second at Level 80

vs

(0.25 * Condition Damage) + (4 * Level) + 8 damage per second
(0.25 * Condition Damage) + 328 damage per second at Level 80

means we are doing less damage when we have 1-2 stacks of burning, about the same at 3-4 stacks of burning, a little more at 5 stacks, and 6+ stacks is where the burning starts to get scary.

There are hard counters to condition stacking builds in the meta now, to name a couple…

any competent Necromancer… will simply return all of your conditions to you with a bow on top, and Diamond Skin d/d elementalists

also…
Anyone worth their salt in pvp will not allow the burning to stack over 3-4 stacks before cleansing.

…and if you allow the burning to actually stack to 5 or 6 before you are in downed state (which is usually the case…. someone sees why they have no hp and they notice 5 stacks of burning), I assure you leaving the pre-patch burning on for that long would have downed you against this build no problem.

Cleanse your conditions…. we don’t apply 5+ stacks of burning instantly…. it accumulates over time, from our attacks and you standing in a fire field.

There is also burning’s duration…. which used to easily down players well after I had died in a teamfight if it was not cleansed….. which now lasts, at most…. a couple of seconds.

Burning is now a tiny bitmore front loaded….. (and i say a tiny bit more because you still need to get 3+ stacks for it to be effective) and does less overall damage with this build than it did before…. hands down.

If you played the build before and after the patch you would notice a huge drop in its effectiveness… but all you guys see is the 5th stack of burning being applied right before you enter downed state.

New Skills for Revenant (your Suggestions)

in Revenant

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

Legendary Demon Stance: the stance is meant to minimize condition damage to yourself and deal condition damage yet there’s not much condition pressure from the Mace/Axe and stance skills, as far as I see the theme it’s not quite about dealing condition damage, but manipulating the conditions in the battlefield, stacking them on you and dealing more damage traits are good, the problem is there’s no place for a build based on Mallyx on PvE, and you can get easily overpowered by condition builds on PvP/WvW because if there’s too much pressure on you you’ll run out of energy.

Pain Absorption: reduce cost to 25 energy, increase resistance to 2 stacks of 2 seconds
Empowering Misery: Increase Healing to 4,6200, self weakness makes the resistance on LD stance skills a must or usage while in elite form, allows room for interesting plays, but chokes you if you’re in a dire situation because of the low burst heal vs pressure applied to you OR add an additional effect instead of increasing the base heal: +3 energy per condition on you
New Skill Suggestions:
-Consume Torment: Energy: 30, Cast: 3/4 CD: 20s Range: 600 Remove stacks of Torment from your foe, for each stack removed you deal 190 damage and syphon 90 health
-Crippling Anguish: Energy 35, Cast: 1/2, CD: 30s, Your next few attacks have a random chance to cause Weakness (4s), Torment(4s) and Slow (4s) (33% for each condition), 3-5 attacks depending on iterations, self Vulnerability 4 stacks (6 seconds)
-Veil of Shadows: Energy 30, Cast: Instant, CD: 30s, for the next 4 seconds foes that attack you are blinded (2s), grants resistance for 4 seconds, self poison 2 stacks (6s)

Trait Change Suggestions: change yearning empowerment from torment lasts longer to deal 7% more damage to foes suffering torment

It doesn’t work properly in pvp or wvw either…. its been tested… and the manipulating conditions thing works well on paper…. but when it is actually applied….. it fails miserably…

You simply do not get enough resistance to survive if you actually plan on hurting your opponents with your conditions… because AT BEST they will have the same amount of negative conditions as you have….. OR LESS.

Completely useless.

Not to mention…. even if you did have enough resistance to make the condition matching useful…. its a boon that can easily be stripped.

Mallyx elite should reapply resistance the way lich form, plague form, tornado, and rampage apply stability.

So let me ask you some things…

Did you buy HoT or not?

Did you contact support demanding a refund, on the grounds that you were not going to purchase the expansion + core game until you were refunded the cost of the core game?

If you went to anet…. told them you are not going to buy the expansion + the core game until you are refunded for the core game…..

Then they agreed to refund you for the core game, if you buy the expansion + core package….

Until you make the purchase, you were basically refunded for the game, and no longer have the game until you buy it again.

…and if anet refunded your core game cost without restricting you in some way, who is to say you wouldn’t strike this bargain, and then continue playing the game (that at this point you paid nothing for since you were refunded)

Analogy:
Imagine you bought a pack of pencils without erasers for $3
Then you see that there is a pack of pencils with erasers for $5

You ask for a refund on your pack of pencils without erasers, so you can buy the pack with the erasers instead.

You got your refund, and now you are complaining that you don’t have any pencils.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

I’m pretty much going along for the ride.
As much as I would like to dictate how this game should be developed, I am a player and not a developer.

Sometimes I am the happiest player in the world, and other times I feel like Anet does things to personally screw me over.

The bottom line is, I can’t control what Anet does to Guild Wars 2, so I don’t let it bother me too often, and when it does bother me, I have quit the game for a bit.

Nobody wants to “play” a game that isn’t fun, and as much as you want to keep playing because you have so much time and effort invested, sometimes the best thing for your GW2 career is to just take a break for a while.

Everyone hates hearing that, because that don’t want to admit that Guild Wars 2 has become a stale game after being out for roughly three years, and there aren’t any worthwhile things left to do… but it is the truth.

In my case, Guild Wars 2 has been dull for quite some time now.

I have beyond conquered all the content available in the game, and all that remains for me is a list of chores I can complete for AP.

If I really wanted to, I could grind out kills with warhorn and shield, or slay giants every day, or costume brawl, etc…. but is that really fun?

No. Not to me at least.

and instead of getting new content, we get tweaks to appeal to casual players.

GW2 isn’t made for hardcore players like me who want to play every single day for hours on end, and as much as I love the game, it truly does cater to casual players.

This was Anet’s decision, the model they went with at launch, and all I can do about it is take a break from the game when things get especially dull, and hope to come back later when there are things to do that are worthwhile.

Any changes Anet makes to Guild Wars 2 that impact me negatively are taken with a grain of salt, because ultimately if things got so bad that I didn’t want to play anymore, I can let go and quit.

It took me a long time to admit this to myself, that Guild Wars 2 is just an “okay” game on my list, after living and breathing Guild Wars 1 for several years as a hardcore player.

I can only hope that Anet realizes they are seriously neglecting their hardcore playerbase which are the ones that played Guild Wars for years, supported the franchise, and are the ones that even made a sequel possible.

It just seems that Anet is driven more by money now than their playerbase’s happiness.

We see five fold more new outfits and toys in the gemstore than we will ever see new endgame content.

Hardcore players desperately want more challenging and repeatable content that rewards players based on their skill level and how well they perform.
…and we want fewer reward tables that are completely ruled by RNG.

…so we can keep playing, and continue earning gold while we play, and our time is well-spent.

But Anet has a different plan…
The most prestigious gear you can buy in the game can be in your hand in seconds if you whip out your credit card and pay.

Casual players don’t have the money to afford a legendary weapon, but they don’t want to feel left out… so they open their wallets.

What you might not realize is that after you do your daily dungeon paths, and your fotm tiers, (even guild missions once a week), you are scraping the bottom of the barrel of rewarding content to grind.

No matter how hard you grind, your income is gated. Turn the game off and play again tomorrow to make more money, otherwise you are wasting your time.

They are keeping us poor with the gating to keep us playing for fewer hours a day, but more days of the year… and we are always tempted to buy gold from the gemstore… (even if it is nothing more than a temptation.)

You are forced into being a casual player in Guild Wars 2.
…and I’m pretty sure Anet knows that not all of us want to be casuals, but they turn a blind eye as long as they are making money.

This is not what I thought I was getting into when I purchased a sequel to my favorite game, and I hope they realize that many of us are unhappy about it.

This is just the tip of one of many icebergs when it comes to how I feel about this situation, and the direction Anet chooses to go with Guild Wars 2.

TL;DR

I share the sentiment with the OP about Anet frequently making changes to the game I am unhappy with, and I hate that I loved Guild Wars 1 so much that I feel like a prisoner to the new Arenanet and Guild Wars 2… but it is important to know you aren’t literally a prisoner, and you need to know when you should take a break from the game for a while. Sometimes things just take a while to get used to…. other times you just need to wait for things to blow over.

Anet wants us to be casual players, so why fight against it?

We are playing their game, so just go along with the ride, or play a different one.

TheBlackLeech.9360

the recipes used for creating a legendary will always give the same results with the exception of the mystic clover recipe

the forge takes the following items to make your legendary:
Gift of fortune, gift of mastery, gift of (insert legendary name here), and the precursor

and yes its guaranteed to give you a legendary.

Just to recap….. if you follow the recipe…
100% chance to create the gift of might when combining the proper t6 mats
100% chance to create the gift of magic when combining the other t6 mats
100% chance that you will get gift of fortune when you put the ingredients in the forge
100% chance you will get gift of mastery when you put ingredients in the forge
100% chance you will get your gift of (insert legendary name here) when u put those ingredients into the forge.
and 100% chance to get the legendary if you combine those last three things with the precursor you need.

the only part of creating a legendary that is not guaranteed is the acquisition of mystic clovers (required for the gift of fortune) through the use of the mystic forge.

Unless you are capped on Magic Find, you are doing a disservice to yourself by not consuming those EoLs. Consuming luck as you receive it increases your odds of finding rare items linearly, but holding on to luck for a long time does not provide any benefit as the potential to find rare items is being wasted.

Not to mention the huge amount of boosters taking up all those bank slots could be reduced to two, maybe three bank slots if boost enchantment powder were used.

Lord Taeres’s Shadow… but that is a one handed sword sadly.

The particle effect on that sword is so much cooler than the purple fog we have on the fellblade.

I wish they did as the gentleman in that video suggested and gave the fellblade the Lord Taeres’s Shadow particle effect (without making anything pinky/purple of course)

I’m guessing something like this. Might have a few traits wrong.

specializations are correct….. traits are almost completely wrong.

Warhorn’s locust swarm stacks corrupter’s defense very nicely and is a must for this build, so ur weapons are wrong too.

Runes also not ideal.

Yep, which is why I haven’t taken this all that seriously. Unholy Santuary MM clerics is a good amount better.

What if I told you that healing is no longer an issue with this build, and you are still getting healed as well as healing others while in death shroud…

fellblade is a Hall of Monuments skin, not black lion chest.

I know as I was talking in general , I have been playing gw1 since 2008 and got 30 HoM points. But fellblade effects are not worth it

100% agree with the op.

Anet is creating more and more of these cheese builds, while simultaneously limiting build diversity.

PvP used to be based on skill…. now it boils down to who has the “better build”.
Which is not necessarily such a bad thing…. until you realize that anet keeps leaving some professions in the gutter, while making others broken powerful.

Were you balls at pvp before the patch?
Well roll x profession with x build and its ez mode.

I’m not even really going to bother re-learning whats what in pvp until the new specializations come out…. because they already dropped one bomb on us and its pandemonium…. and there is a much bigger bomb that has still yet to drop (the new specializations). …and some of the stuff happening in pvp atm really needs to be nerfed before anyone who likes to see balanced play enters a match.

Isn’t the Jotun GreatSword just the Bandit skin with shiny blue stuff added?

The color of the wraps, the shape of the blade, added particle effects, the hilt, etc.

What is the point of a thread that says “this is awesome” and then turns around and says “but I’m not going to give away what makes it awesome because then everyone will think it’s awesome”? Honestly, the trait is pretty good and rather effective in Stronghold where you can easily build stacks versus NPCs, and when combined with the already stupid bulk of minionmancers you get something annoying to kill. That said, unlike better bunkers this just doesn’t do anything at all to support the team other than mediocre damage on the side. It’ll only be really strong if/when Dire becomes a thing in PvP

I don’t really want to give anything away, though because this build is ugly….. but at the same time, I don’t want people to think I’m a loon, so I’ll give clues.

Yes, it is a minion master!

Though it is not as useless in the support department as you claim, since it does provide quite a bit of support with its ability to heal allies… and it is not wasted if you are “alone,” since you have your minions. But the build really shines next to another player.

I’ve given you a couple clues so far, bunker and healing…. so I think the amulet should be apparent at this point.

Also, here’s a post from another player in a different thread, who has seen this build.

Currently Bunker Necro is insane… Being able to hold the point from 4 to 5 players at once for 1 or 2 mins depending on how bursty they are. With a friend their staying in death shroud 100% of the time. Been actually looking for 4 necros to troll bunker with. Being unkillable when next to another player.

Sorry, I’ve tested this extensively and it’s mediocre. No decent team will let you freecast long enough to get to 10 stacks, and even if you do, the stacks expire pretty quickly, especially when you’re in DS where you don’t apply conditions as quickly.

You can pretty much maintain 9-10 stacks, idk where you “tested” but go back and try again.

yeah!!

wait waaa..huh?

I’ve seen several Necromancers are running this trait in pvp recently.

…but the reason for this thread is because I saw someone last night, maximizing this trait’s potential.

I honestly believe this “potential” is going to become a new meta for necromancers…. mark my words.

Without giving away too many details of the build (I’d hate it if others copied a build I was using and it got nerfed…), I’m talking about an easy 2v1 (sometimes 3v1) bunker potential with decent damage output as well.

You might be used to seeing elementalists who are really resilient and evasive, or guardians keeping that capture point held in the face of danger…

…and Necromancer has just stepped up to the plate.

So much Revenant Hate

TheBlackLeech.9360

Just saying every map I’ve gone to is complaining about Rev. Before this weeks beta testing everyone was excited, and all I’ve heard today is to not bring them to this or that event. Some points are valid like they are not complete but isn’t the whole point to be testing and trying to push the limits of what’ there? So wouldn’t it make sense to put them in those situations? Granted it would make even more sense if the profession was complete.

It’s ironic because when it’s finished and finalized everyone will be complaining about the balancing and the bugs, and be asking Anet why they didn’t do more testing before they released it.

You just can’t make anyone happy anymore can you?

There is a big difference in simply complaining about revenant, and addressing issues with revenant.

The whole purpose of a beta is for developers to gather information from their playerbase.

Sorry some of it is negative… but only giving positive feedback when there are issues that need to be addressed isn’t going to help the players or the developers.

Feedback is a good thing…. you can still be a super brown-nozed fanboy after giving constructive criticism. But just telling someone something was great even if it wasn’t is not the right thing to do.

Only class that cannot change skills #1-#5

in Revenant

TheBlackLeech.9360

Think of it like an elementalist only backwards…. an elementalist swaps attunements, and gets 5 new skills…

A revenant swaps legends, and gets 5 new skills.

Neither class can weapon swap, and an elementalist can choose its 5 utilities…. the same way a revenant can choose its 5 weapon skills.

Of course the revenant only has 2 legends available at a time instead of 4 attunements… but perhaps they might make it so you can swap between any of the 4… and make the heal skills share a cooldown or increase the recharge on legend swapping or something.

Players usually tend to do things optimally.

If you are around other players, you will be sharing buffs and ressing the downed before they die completely, etc. That’s why we stack up.

There aren’t really any safe spots for any of the world bosses…. but some areas take quite a beating, while others are barely touched.

Take the claw of jormag for example… everyone stacks at the safe distance from the boss (where you aren’t taking chill damage) and ranges the wall down.
Standing any closer will just get you killed….. guaranteed.

Sticking with other players ensures that you will be sharing stability buffs while simultaneously ensuring there aren’t players running around dragging upscaled champions into the players who just want to fight the boss.
You can also easily resurrect any players who might get downed.

…and the reason you stand on the ledge is so you can watch the ledges, which is quite possibly the most important part of the entire fight.

Lack of Swiftness

in Revenant

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

Forcing a combination field for a swiftness is a poor mechanic.

Great for WvW…. better than staff 3 on guardian that’s for sure.

Staff 3 on guardian is mainly for stacking swiftness whilst stationary, and it stack huge amounts in an instant cast aoe.

The guardian utility swiftness actually comes from ‘Retreat’ and gives every1 20 secs swiftness and aegis.
Revenant utility swiftness comes from comboing ‘road’ with a weapon ability to get the aoe swiftness out, and when it’s out it only lasts 5 secs

Then guardians have enough self swiftness to stack to 59 secs easily, plus greatsword dash and sword teleport if a mob, critter or enemy are in the distance. Revenants meanwhile have a self crippling jump, and a pretend jump that roots you in place, or a pretend dash where you glide forward with a staff that is actually a support-only weapon.

Guardian beats Revenant hands down

Are you forgetting that you are forced to have a staff equipped for this? lol

Staff guardian is pretty much just a loot stick when it comes to its grade in the dps department.
btw… retreat is a 40sec cooldown. (unless traited then its 32 seconds)
Retreat is a great skill…. and I always have it on my guardian

and… have fun standing still to stack quickness.
(blasting the road can be done while standing still also)

Also the “5 seconds” of swiftness with the road mace combo is actually 10… and its 100% maintainable and the field grants 5 seconds of stability.

Assuming for a second you are the only one applying swiftness.
(and you have Pure of Voice and honorable staff traited)
With staff 3 + retreat you barely wrap the swiftness.
(unless ofc you have a platinum and gold doubloons in your staff for increased boon duration)

Bottom line is…. even if you do manage to wrap your swiftness on guard…. swiftness is swiftness…. and 100% uptime + 50% stability uptime > loot stick zerging.

Arguably you can say that the symbol guardians drop can apply more swiftness to more people….. but retreat doesn’t do that, it has the same limitation the revenant does with swiftness application…. and the only the guardian + a small handful of others will have wrapped swiftness. Which is the same with revenant…. 100% swiftness for a handful of players.

Also frigid blitz is a shadowstep…. so idk what you are on about with the other comparisons.

Lets discuss the elite dwarf skill.

Rite of the Great Dwarf.

hey Anet was there more to this skill?

I notice currently the game doesnt have tooltip for it.

But it has a long cast time, and stun break.

But why would I cast a long spell for damage reduction, when I could be burst down while using it?

likely because its a group only skill. Perhaps best if we got a second elite skill if thats the case.

Or simply reduce the cast time and add some offensive element to it would be nice.

But what do you all believe could make this skill good?

Have the skill apply obsidian flesh

AoE Invulnerability for you and your teammates for a short duration.

My [big] Revenant Rework

in Revenant

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

No offense, but I really don’t agree with anything you’ve suggested.

I’ve played the majority of the beta so far with Mace + Axe using King Jalis and Mallyx.

First of all…. you said the “elite for Mallyx is fine”…. which just hurts my soul.

Did you even use this skill, lol?

The skill literally does nothing except apply an equal amount of torment to you and enemies if you don’t already have conditions on you.

…and if you do have conditions on you, the skill doesn’t even apply enough resistance to help you at all. The non-elite necromancer skill Plague signet is literally better than this.

I believe like you just wrote a description for many of these things just to feel like you said something without actually having experienced them.

Mace is a condi weapon…. and the autoattack chain doesn’t need any power increase, because it is applying condition damage.

…also half of your complaints are because you have autotarget turned on….

How to Improve Revenants ideas

in Revenant

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

Have the elite for the Legendary Demon stance, Embrace the Darkness, reapply resistance every couple of seconds the way stability is applied to a Necromancer in Lich form.

Currently… using the elite does nothing unless you are stacked with conditions…. and by the time you have enough condi to want share them with your enemies, you’ve already put the nail in your coffin.

It would also be really nice if the elite halved the cost of all energy used while it was active, since you can’t really do too much besides autoattack with the energy drain.

I would really like to see heal skills without an energy cost, since they have a cooldown after they are used.

If you are using a different skill that has an upkeep, once your energy gets too low you are unable to heal.

Since there is a cooldown…. and the energy cost of these skills is so little…

What is the point… other than forcing revenants to make sure their energy never drops below 5?

Its just annoying.

You’re basically double dipping in the “lets make things unnecessarily difficult” pot.
