As a game without a subscription plan, there is no reason you should feel obligated to be playing or not at any given time. Come and go as you please, that’s the point.

I’ve seen this typed so many times, it’s absolutely frustration to read. It is not that simple! ArenaNet breaks into my house at night, presses a gun to my head and demands that I buy Gems!

Terrible policy.

Hmmm have you talked to the police about this?

I have made precisely seven calls to the police about Josh Foreman and Colin Johnson’s B&E, assault, battery, and animal abuse. They won’t lift a finger, because ARENANET OWNS THE POLICE!

That horse head they left in my bed was pretty tasty, though, kind of a mixed blessing.

Well aren’t you two smart Alecs. All ready and keyed up to make fun of somebody genuinely interested in the future of this game.

I don’t believe i wrote anything in my post that should elicit such sarcasm or smarty pants comments from you two. How dare I ask, after two years of supporting the game, for some kinda of road map on what we as players can expect. I don’t need details, just want to hear if there is something major to look forward to. i think that’s a pretty normal expectation.

I’m sick an tired of people like you constantly coming up with the same ol rehashed saying on these forums, this is not a sub game and no one is forcing u to play it or spend any money on it. Technically that is true, but if everyone thought as u do, there would be no gw2. Well not anymore anyway.

I support the game b/c i don’t believe paying a box price should entitle me to free content for evermore and i’m quite happy to dish out some money Anet’s way if my money is being used to expand the game in a true sense of the word.

And b/c I’ve invested a fair bit of money and most importantly a lot of time into this game that’s still relatively young (in hope of it being expanded further), i don’t want to leave it as yet and would like to know what to expect from it in the near future. I don’t believe these are such unreasonable expectations that it should bring on people like you full of derision in disguise of some cheap comedy. if I had to hazard a guess, you do not have gw2 interests at heart talking the way u do, but that’s just my personal feeling.

I know you guys have this silence policy on future development of the game, which imo, is a double edged sword. But for me, the time has come where i need to know if there’s any hope in the near future that we are going to see Tyria opened up and if I should continue to invest myself into this game.

I felt cramped year into the game and i’ve hang in there patiently waiting for more world to explore and new things to do, but i’m afraid my hopes are really stating to fade now. Can you not give us some inkling of hope here please?

I really don’t want to stop playing gw2, as i do love the game and feel it has barely began to expand and that is the problem for me. I have reached a stage where I now need to see more as I’ve already traversed the revealed land of Tyria thousands of times and anyone would get bored of that.

I know some will come here and tell me to take a break and I do play gw2 less and less these days, but I stress these points because i’m the type of person that once i lose interest in a game and stop playing it completely, i usually never go back to it. It’s just the way I am and as i said, I really don’t want that to happen with gw2.

I believe that your veteran players like myself, have been extremely patient and I for one have supported the game as much as i could and whenever i could and i would like to see some greater results for my investment into the game. I do think it’s about time we hear some news from you guys regarding the future development of gw2 if you would like us to stick by you.

Dear Risen Veteran Subjugator,

Don’t you see?
We don’t mean to disturb your prayers, but we’re are also worshipers of another kind. We worship the beautifully lined row of trees that surrounds your shrine. Well in truth, we worship lobbing those trees. They’re made of magic you see. We cut them down but in an hour, they’re back whole again as if nothing happend.

But what really makes them magical is this sweet, rainbow-coloured essence called Firefox, which they release upon dying. This…this essence is bewitching, we have been beguiled by it’s beauty and we simply cannot resist it’s charm. I’m sorry to say, but no one will stand in our way, not even you!

Does it even matter if they despawn? they don’t actually attack anything

I’ve notice this too – minions are the GW2 equivalent of young offenders doing community service…stood around doing naff all while you’re getting it handed to you on a plate.

That problem startet with the marionette event i think, or somewhere last december.
Have myself also postet that in different thread in the bugs forum and also in other
forums .. but nobody seems to care at all so far

Hmm, maybe you’re right, maybe it did start earlier. I assumed April patch, but b4 that i hadn’t played my necro for a while so not sure when it started exactly and i too reported it as bug ages ago, but yea still nothing done about it.

Yea i’ve had the issue with flesh golem not attacking at least 50% of the time and also the shade minion, but not as bad as flesh golem. This has been going on since April patch but this is now really bad. Hopefully next update it’ll be fixed.

As an aside, srry if this was reported elsewhere, i was in the game at the time i made this thread and wasn’t in a position to start searching the forums.

Also as some mentioned above, normally, only flesh golem (and wurm it seems which i don’t use much) die in water.

Please fix this as soon as u can, my MM Necro has become unplayable now.

Really love the new QoL added in the last patch, great work but I would like to see some additions for clarity sake. Not sure if some of these have already been suggested but here it goes anyway.

1) Add a label to mini description that shows (like in case of dyes) if you’ve already unlocked a particular mini. Now that minis are actually destroyed when added to the collection, this would greatly help one complete their collection and not buy the ones they already have.

2) Add a sorting to the mini collection. I know there’s a search, but you’d have to know the name of what ur searching for to begin with, so splitting the mini collection into some sort of categories (like dyes) would work wonders.

Thanks for reading and plz comment if like/dislike the idea.

Update: Today my mini was showing all the time, even in a busy map! TYVM ecstatic!

I think that perhaps I needed to reboot my PC for the new patch to take effect? As on the patch day, I updated the game and immediately logged in so perhaps that’s why it didn’t work. Not sure, but w/ever the reason, I’m relieved it’s been fixed.

Once again TY Anet, that was my only gripe with the mini wardrobe (minis being hidden), otherwise I love it.

IMO leveling alts always sucked. What’s supposed to be fun about re-doing the entire storyline with a different beginning? I only got my second level 80 thanks to the Queensdale train, and after that I just can’t do it anymore. Maybe one day I’ll get my other 3 toons up to 80, but why, when I already have a max level guardian that I love to play?

I have an empty character slot I bought recently on sale. Dunno why, I have 9x lvl 80’s lol all with 100% map completion and all. I got it just in case they add a new class or something.

I thought about lvling another char after the new patch just for the experience, but I don’t feel like replicating yet another class….got 2 rangers atm.

Tbh, I’m tempted still, as leving new chars was my fav part in gw2, but doing it for the 10th time without it being a new class? Not really.

Tiger Ashante.1792

I had a lengthy chat today with a long time gw2 friend. We both started our gw2 adventure in BWE1 and have played ever since.

Even so, I did not realise just how passionate he was about the game and how much he loved it. It wasn’t something we talked about much in the past, we just played and enjoyed the game.

I saw today he was leveling a new character so I asked him what he thought about the new patch. “It SUCKS big time” he replied. Oh? How so? I asked. Well this is a short of it what he said.

This is GW2! I loved GW1 and I love GW2! I love it b/c gw games are not about stats and gating. They’re about the skill, the journey and play how you want.

They needed a tutorial, so why haven’t they added a tutorial? Why have they gated the very things I love about this game? At lvl 17 I was told I have unlocked combos and that was it! Nothing to tell me what they are or how they worked. All they needed was a tutorial and leave the game as it was. Instead, I get to unlock my 2nd utility at lvl 24, woopie and now, I’m not getting my elite skill till 40!

One really poignant thing he said, “It made me cry when I had to dance for the cows instead of feeding them”. I assumed he was referring to the very first heart quest you do in the Human Starter area and upon hearing that, I kind of felt sad with him there.

I tried to explain this was not intended for him and me as vet players and since we got lots of lvl 80’s it shouldn’t affect us, but his reply was that this affects everyone! Instead of spending all that dev time designing this stuff, they could have added more stuff to the game along the tutorial like more elite skills that could have been locked and allow the new players to discover and simply adding more fun leveling content, not gating content. I couldn’t really argue with that, even though I personally haven’t played a new character since the patch and cannot offer my own opinion about it.

However, from talking to my normally docile friend and from all the outrage on the forums I have read, I think that what Anet should do, is simply remove the gating and introduce tooltips at various lvls. There should be a new button at top left screen called tooltips (perhaps denoted by a question mark?) with search options once activated, so people can go back and revisit these tooltips in case they pop up at the wrong time, like while they’re fighting or w/ever. But the very first tooltip should be about the tooltip itself and to notify the player of its existence.

2nd thing, there should be an option to disable these tooltips for vet players or anyone for that matter.

Oddly enough, another guildie of mine, also long term player, has been leveling not 1 but 3 alts and I asked him about it as well. He basically likes it all, like the directional compass thing but he also didn’t like the gating aspect of it.

On another note, I just brought a freind across from Lotro to gw2. It took me quite some time to get him to come over and he loves the game. His says the game is perfect, the only thing he doesn’t like is the downscaling lol. It’s something totally new for him, but I assured him he will get used to it. I didn’t like it at first either, but I’m well used to it now and forget it’s even there.

However, he was already lvl 40 when the patch hit, so not sure how he’s gonna feel when he rolls a new character. Time will tell I guess.

Anyway, this was just one little experience form a section of your playerbase Anet, so I hope some of this feedback is useful to you.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment as long as its constructive plz.

Well I’m glad the new patch is working for some of you above and you can now see your minis, but for me, things haven’t changed.

After updating my game and reading updated patch notes, i was hopeful but sadly, my hopes were dashed once i started playing and saw no change regarding my minis. I spent several hours playing today on separate occasions in various maps and varying times of day and didn’t see my mini appear once. I spent quite some time in Lonar Pass and there was hardly anyone there, but my mini was still hidden.

I went to Orr and even as i was given an option in Malcor Leap to leave an emptying map my mini stayed hidden. I checked the equipped mini box and it was unchecked, so i tried to tick it on but soon as I close the UI and open it again, i find it unchecked again and no mini showing. Not getting those annoying chat messages anymore, but not sure if this is much better tbh, as now i have to open the UI to see what’s going on.

After a while and no progress i just gave up.

No point in having or buying mini's anymore

This is probably my least favourite result of the mini changes. I hardly ever see my mini now unless i’m in a city. Several times, i was in a map where i was offered to move to a more populated map and being told the map i was in was closing, yet my mini didn’t come out and when i tried to force it out, i got that annoying message, due to rising population, etc etc, your mini is hidden.

I’m actually regretting now having destroyed all my minis (and i had a lot of them and were worth lot of money combined) to be faced with this. I can only hope they address this fast and at least let us see our own minis at all times.

Lost my 100% exploration-3 hearts missing!?

Tiger Ashante.1792

Those are all new Renown Hearts added with the patch. They didn’t exist before, so that’s why they haven’t been completed.

Cattle prodding wasn’t a Renown Heart, but a Dynamic Event.

Oh truly? I thought those were hearts, but it’s been a long time since i did my last 100%.

I just wish when new things are added to the game and don’t affect your 100% world completion, they didn’t reduce your stats for it either. It just becomes rather annoying every time something new is added, you lose your 100%, especially when these new things don’t count toward it and you don’t have to do them anyway. But when i see that 100% gone to 99% or w/ever i hate it and just have to fix it. Already done it several times now and it’s happened again. Even though technically u still got your 100% it doesn’t feel like it, when every time you open that map it shows less than that.

All 9 of my chars have had 100% for a long time. After the patch, they all lost it and stats on the map show i’m missing 3 heart quests. 1 in Celodim Forest, which i couldn’t see just by looking at the map and 2 in Plains of Ashford lol.

I thought that maybe new hearts have been added, but when i checked the ones in Plains of Ashford, i realised there’s no new hearts,, but ones i have already done have been reset. The very first one where u do cattle prodding and the one near the skill point guy in Tela Range.

I haven’t gone to Celodim Forest to check which one was reset there as yet. but i’m hoping Anet will fix these soon. I’m mean i don’t mind doing them again if i have to, but that’s not the point.

Anyway don’t know if anyone else has this happen, but i’ve spoken to some other folks who said they lost their 100% but didn’t find out if it was the same reason or not.

As long as you realise guys, none of those pieces were actually armor, they’ve all outfits worn over ur armor just as u wear outfits in gw2 now. The only difference is in gw1 the head gear had a separate slot so you could actually remove the head piece iif you wanted to, but the rest was all-in-one.

I have some of them outfits in gw1 and wouldn’t mind having them here either as as long as they remain outfits.

Tiger Ashante.1792

In regards to Sept patch mostly.

It seems like you can’t go on forums or reddit these days to be flooded with so many unhappy posts. I get it too, a lot of these changes are disappointing. Still, it’s not often I see positive, thankful posts. Is this an accurate “thermometer” check of the community or is it just that negative players are more vocal?

After two whole years it’s still pretty much the same games with a few major changes. Sure there has been loads of revamps and nerfs, but 2 new PVE maps and LS chapters, and a handful of other additions haven’t done much to expand the game. Sure it does a little, but after two years, wouldn’t there be more stuff by now in the average mainstream MMO?

Anet cannot be blind/deaf to these gripes, so it makes me wonder if they are truly that out of touch. I have to wonder how much the NA community is shrinking and how much money they are losing from the NA players.

TL;DR: So are you happy with the state of changes in GW2 for the past two years? Sure there has been some good, but it seems most people are just unhappy overall.

In response to your title, I was wondering the same thing and made a post about it, which was promptly slammed and deleted, no explanation give either. I can only assume while I was asleep, it got derailed badly.

But on topic, I think they’re too many unhappy chappies these days and people are becoming harder and harder to please. I’d hate to be the one trying to appease them all.

Dye drops too low?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Unfortunately, many, many players asked for account-wide dyes. And ArenaNet listened. Thus, we ended up with no dye drops. Sometimes we have to be careful what we ask for. =/

As much as I appreciate having account bound dyes, I Don’t think they shouldn’t have removed them from drops completely. Making them a rare drop would have been a much nicer implementation. I really miss finding dyes in plant nodes as I used to. My fav drop and I feel sad they removed them entirely. I used to get mostly dandelions, but every now and then, I’d get a dye instead and it made my day. Now, dandelions is all I get! How exciting…NOT!

Tiger Ashante.1792

Wow guys, didn’t u read the blog properly?

Its not meant for experienced players who are rolling alts, it’s meant for a brand new players.

Currently, if you’re new player to gw2, you don’t even know about the downstate until ur downed. For someone who has never experienced this, it’s a very confusing thing. They don’t understand what is going on and they’re in such panic and being killed of so fast, trying to understand the downed skills and what they do and what has happened to you is very daunting.

I remember experiencing it for the first time in beta and even though i was aware of the fact there was downstate, nothing prepared me for when it actually happened and what i was supposed to do to rally. So imo, this is a good thing, vet players can just ignore it.

Completely Pointless Revamps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Maybe someone can help me out here, because I just don’t understand this “feature” patch.

Since the game launched 2 years ago, it was touted as having a great leveling system, where you could go anywhere, didn’t have to do quests and could level doing pretty much anything.

The game has always had one major complaint, the lack of endgame content. There were no raids, no new areas, no endgame progression, and no new ingame skins being released.

These two things have been pretty much the two constants of the game since launch… leveling good… endgame bad…

Yet we now have spent the last 2 “feature” patches revamping the leveling system from the ground up and not introducing a single bit of endgame. I literally just spent the last 20 minutes looking for a SINGLE thread that said they should revamp leveling and I couldn’t find one person complaining about it. The biggest complaint related to leveling I could find was to undo the changes to leveling the last “feature” patch brought.

So what exactly is the point of revamping the only part of the game people almost unanimously loved and completely ignoring the areas of the game people think need the most work? It just seems like a terrible business strategy to me.

I don’t think any update to a game is “pointless” especially a better guide for new players. Don’t be so selfish!

I remember way back reading many reviews of gw2 and many posts all over the internet how gw2 doesn’t introduce and teach their new players how to play, or guide them through the game.

Sure, this feature may be late in coming, but it’s better late than never. You also got to bear in mind the game is still very new in China, where this feature was introduced, so it makes sense to put it in for us too.

To you and me, GW2 may seem easy to figure out now, but this game is so different to many others out there, to new players not familiar with it, it may appear very strange and directionless. So a good solid intro/guide is always a good thing, especially an optional one, so older players can disable this feature.

Ultimately, i really don’t see why you had to complain about it.

game-breaking bug vs. desire to play

Disclaimer: this isn’t a bug report, it’s a frustration report.

My account is hit by a particularly nasty bug that prevents everything from resetting at the daily reset. This includes daily achievements, orichalcum veins and ancient saplings, world boss chests, once per day per account crafting, etc. Needless to say, the bug has cost me a great deal of gold over the last 15 days. Support tickets have been met with copied and pasted replies. The thread on this subject in the Bugs sub-forum has gone ignored.

With the upcoming Features Patch and the high cadence of the Living Story, I can’t help but feel this issue is so far down the list of prioritizes that it’s not going to be fixed anytime soon (or possibly at all, if the number of players affected is particularly low). At this point, my frustration far outweighs my desire to play; and I’m starting to feel this bug will be the end of my time in Tyria. So, what’s a guy to do? Any advice?

Have u tried repairing your client? I had a weird bug where i had constant problems interacting with objects/npc’s etc. Like i would click to mine a ore or chop wood and nothing would happen. Sometime, after a few tries it would suddenly work, or if i walked away then approached it again it would work, but not all the time.

I repaired my client due to another issue and it seems to be working fine now. That was about a month ago, so keeping my fingers crossed.

So if you haven’t already done it, may be worth a try, it may resolve your issue as well.

It’s funny you should bring this topic up, I was going to make one myself.

I just recently started playing Rift. I heard about that game right here on the forum and being free to play i thought i’d give it a try.

Tbh, the general gameplay is nothing special and questing and leveling is pretty boring. Just your typical fetch/kill x quests and not much of a story to be had.

But

They have fishing and if it wasn’t for that, I would have given the game away already. Irl, I’m not much into fishing, but for some reason in this game, I really like it. In fact, i find myself spending most of my time in Rift fishing and I think it’s b/c the fishing in this game actually has some meaning, but also b/c like you, i’m getting tired of constant fighting and this type of activity definitely provides a nice, relaxing change of pace.

They have these fish exchange quests where they want you to catch a particular type of fish and some of them are really hard to catch without the right lure, which you can make yourself from the fish you catch.

Each zone has different types of fish and daily quests. Not just fishing quests either. In the main cities they offer all kinds of crafting quests, including cooking and some require the fish you catch. A typical quest entails you making some food and delivering it to a quartermaster on the front line, or to the expert/master chef to prove your prowess in cooking and angling.

Typical reward for these quests (aside from some exp) you get a chest that may contain, crafting mats, recipes, reputation scrolls for that particular area, items for your house and crafting tokens with which you can buy more recipes. So as you can see it’s quite an in-depth system and all connected.

What i also like is that you often catch sunken treasure chests that may contain similar stuff as the rewards mentioned above. You can also fish out artifacts and trophies, which are collectable items stored in a type of a valet and once you get a full set you’re awarded with a lucky coin. I’m still not sure what those are for lol, as i haven’t completed many sets.

So yes. I totally agree with you. GW2 could greatly benefit from such an activity if it is well done, especially when you consider all those marvelous waterways we have in this game.

Well that was weird, i quoted the OP with a reply and once i posted it, it only shows the original post but not my own reply. Ah well.

What i was saying, was mainly referring to the title of the OP.

I dunno. I’m pretty sure it was the devs who created this game, not us. We had no input, it was all their doing. And for a small fee, they’ve allowed us to enter their dream and their vision that was turned into gw2 universe.

Like it or not, it is what it is and yes, we can ask for them to change some things we would like to see, but ultimately, it is up them to allow us to alter their dream and their vision of this world.

Gw2: A game for players, or a game for devs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

Hi all.

First of all, this is not meant to be a offensive thread, more likely a opinion and general discussion thread.

I’ve been playing gw2 since 2012 with the beta weekends and general open-betas. I really felt that it was such a incridible game meant to be a game for the players, because everything , the combat, the exploration and the feeling of liberty of game made me feel very confortable about the game.

This is mostly directed to the title of this post.

I dunno, i’m pretty sure it was the devs who created this game, not us. We had no input, it was all their doing. And for a small fee they’ve allowed us to enter their dream and vision of their world. Like it or not, it is what it is.
But ok, this was the very first concept of the game and I still love it. My concern here is what the game became after launch. Ever since the first releases, and when we started to “Experience” the living world, I’ve bee just feeling like a laboratory rat being “Tested”.

And by “Tested”, I mean that this just feels like that the general gw2 staff is just trying over a lot of different methods, and new sort of things on us, without really caring about if we wanted this. The game is hitting 2 years after launch, and have sooo few new content that I’ve been seeing ppl getting back in last week asking : “Hey, whats new around? I’ve left the game 1 month after launch.”.

What do I have to awnser to then? Sadly, not much. Anyway, it is not only the lack of content that makes me feel uncofortable, its mostly about the overall sense that this game is no longer made by gamers, with gamers, to gamers. All of the game now feel like the toy of the programmers and GD’s, testing their new stuff on us, and anoting what goes nice and what goes bad. And even with a million of common threads of things players want to see in the game, or want back in the game, things have been getting removed, or simply ignored, while stuff thatwe never asked or neither even wanted to have, are bring to the game with bright stars around almost saying : “This, is what you need and want!”. But no, this never has been what I’ve asked or even wanted.

All I see with Living story and feature packs are things that the GD’s wanted to put in and test. Not the things that the players overall wanted to see. I agree that some of the stuff is awesome, but still, its always like a test.

This is my little outburst about my feelings around of gw2 lately. By one of your veterans players, to the actual game devs of gw2.

I’m definitely against pvp in pve, but i don’t see anything wrong with “sparring matches”, like i’ve seen in other MMO’s like Lotro for eg.

They’re always 1v1 and by invitation only and you also have option to turn those invitations off.

No one actually dies or gets killed. If one opponent’s HP goes to zero you have a winner, simple as that. No hard feelings there. It’s a test of skill /strength, and a bit more fun than a dummy test or costume brawl? If implemented in this way, i don’t see a problem, it can even be fun to watch sometimes.

I like the outfits. Being able to wear them in combat is awesome, but my issue is that the outfit is joined to the head gear. I realise you can hide the headgear, but sometimes i want to use only helmet and not the rest, but i can’t.

So all they need to do to make them 100% better and more versatile and hence more popular, is to sell them complete, but split the head gear and have a separate slot for it, just like they had in gw1.

Here’s another idea that i thought after posting this that i think would make the outfits skyrocket in popularity. Thinking about it sounds very simple to implement and would please everyone i think.

Why not create a model box for the entire outfit, then add those little hide tick boxes for each part? Simple isn’kitten And you wouldn’t have to change the way the outfits are made only the way they’re displayed.

You still wouldn’t be able to mix and match outfits but by hiding a particular part it would then show your actual armor and so you can mix and match your looks that way.

Outfit trend is worrying.

On Mounts & Housing.

Tiger Ashante.1792

I am one of the anti-mount people. Too many games have mounts and they cause problems for people who don’t like mounts, such as dragging aggroed mobs to them, etc.

If they add mounts, I want the all the mobs to have a skill like Ethereal Burden to slow the mounts to 50% of walking speed. I also want the mounts to be able to be killed and then you have to wait a certain time before your mount can be used again. This will make mounts not very useful, I know, but it will make mount users THINK before using, which they don’t in most games. Mounts are the most unimmersive part of any game.

I beg to differ.

Btw, welcome back balrog, that’s a famous name from Lotro!

I’ve watched this debate silently like forever and feel like it’s about time i say something.

I beg to differ Dusty Moon, because if implemented correctly, mounts can be awesome and add so much atmosphere to the game. Go and play Lotro and see how amazing a proper implementation of mounts can be. I cannot imagine that game without them, and collecting them is a huge business.

However, the reason i love Lotro’s mount system is coz it’s simple, they only have horses…..and goats which were added to travel through Moria as you cannot ride horses in Moria. I definitely wouldn’t like to see a whole menagerie of mounts, like in some other games and no, moas wouldn’t make good mounts, or flying ones etc. Horses on the other hand, or dolyaks, bring them on i say.

In Lotro, they’re also super awesome War Steeds used for mounted combat, but that’s another story. Another thing I like about Lotro’s system is the simplicity of use. Each mount has it’s on skill and works as a utility summon skill. The mounts server only to get u from A to B, they can be attacked and killed in which case you get dismounted and cannot re-summon until you’re out of combat.

This could work fine in gw2 with some exceptions. Because Lotro is a true open world, ie: you can ride your steed into town etc, but it still poses no problem, because Lotro has put their banks, Auction houses, crafting stations and other essential services within instanced buildings, into which ofc you cannot ride your mount.

Since gw2 has instanced towns, you would not be able to ride your mounts within cities, simple as that. But having said that, you shouldn’t get dismounted when going through portals between maps either, that would be just as annoying as the minis issue.

Another thing that is really nice in Lotro, they also have rent-a-horse stables in each city. These rented horses are much faster than your own and are immune to enemy attacks. You can rent a swift travel which costs more but instantly transports you to your destination, or you can rent a normal travel and enjoy the countryside as you travel across the map. The steed will automatically ride to your destination and dismount you when you arrive. How awesome is that? And really, what is wrong with that? I know we have wp’s but so what? people can have choices. If you don’t want mounts then don’t use them, you have alternative travel and everyone is happy.

That’s the crux of my feelings on the matter.

I like the idea of scavenger hunt too if it’s interesting and not just a sheer grind. I thought materials requirement for part 1 of this back piece was large enough, but just looking at that shopping list for part 2 is insane, virtually a repeat of step one only even larger! This amount of work and cost i could understand if it was toward a legendary weapon but for just a back piece? I don’t think i’ll bother wasting my time with it.

The sheer amount of geodes required to get all these recipes for ambrite weapons and now this, would have me grind dry top night and day. I like the map and all but i’m already getting sick of it, endlessly chasing these geodes for one thing and another.

Now, the Zephyr favour is gone up to tier 6! Say what! Even with this content being fresh, I’ve only seen tier 5 reached once in the last 3 weeks, let alone tier 6. I’ve logged in at all varying times of day and night and nope, lucky to reach tier 4 most times.

At the same time, everything cost more geodes now so it’s a double whammy. Instead of having to pay 400 geodes for ambrite recipes at tier 4 like we used to, we now have to pay 425. At the same time, new items for this back piece are being introduced all the time, eating up any geodes we gather. Seriously!

I have like 10 fossils now that i can’t do nothing with, because every time i get close to buying a recipe, you up the ante by introducing new recipes and materials required for this new back piece and raising the requirements all around.

I got 9x multiple items for this back piece that i can’t use. I’m getting overloaded with useless items. Well sorry Anet, you’ve lost me here. My bank is already maxed out, so i can’t buy any more space. I’ve spent a lot of money on this game, because I wanted to support it, but i’m getting tired of these massive shopping lists for everything you want to make in the game and huge demand for same materials from all sides. While at the same time, the cost of these materials is going up and up and seems harder and harder to come by.

I don’t even know what ascended requirements are for this back piece but frankly. I don’t think i want to know. I mean i’m a hard worker, i always earn my money the hard way and i don’t mind that, but this is getting out of hand.

The frustrating thing is, I’ve kinda committed myself to making the 2nd part b4 i realised the full list of requirements, so if i don’t go ahead, i’m gonna feel bad it’s all been a waste.

final boss fight too much

I have to chime in here and say my peace.

This fight isn’t so much difficult as once again, like Rytlock Ritual one, terribly annoying. Soooo over done with condi dmg, K.D’s, AoE’s that cover the entire room, giving u no time at all to recover and allow your skills and endurance to recharge. The camera plays awful in there as well, which only adds more annoyance to the whole encounter.

Dodge, Dodge, Dodge, until your eyes bleed. I came out of there feeling dizzy and with a king size headache from all the craziness. That was not fun, maybe some people thrive on insanity, but the sheer chaos of these fights is making me ill.

I realise this is dragon stuff and shouldn’t be “easy” but omg, i dread to think what the actual Modremoth encounter is gonna be like. Be prepared for ultimate insanity if it continues like this.

I don’t play games to drive me insane, I play games for fun and these fights are not fun for me and by the looks of it, not for many others.

What was especially annoying in this fight, was when u finally got a chance to hit the boss, you didn’t know where he’s gonna pop out and i often found myself on the opposite side of the room and was lucky to hit him once b4 he would vanish, resetting the whole cycle over again. Prolonging the fight in this way, until became so boring that i hated the thought of having to do it on my alts, isn’t a way to go.

IMO, a fight like this would be much more interesting and more enjoyable if a person is at least given bit of room to breathe and absorb what is going on. I would really like for the devs to ease up a bit on these mechanics or at least pace them out a bit better, instead of non-stop intense chaos a player has to deal with, especially in these solo instances.

Up until this final fight though, the rest was ok, although the bit in DR gets tedious after u do it a couple of times, it takes way too long.

But to be honest, for some time now, I’m becoming estranged with this game, where I feel that I don’t know it any more. I’ve been playing since head start and gw1 b4 that and this game is becoming an alien specimen to me as it progresses through it’s life. Not really sure how long I’m gonna stay interested if it continues along this path. I mean I love all the maps and the artwork, I like the combat system, the exploration and many other little things, which make me log on daily basis, but those things are becoming less and less of a draw now. I so desperately want to see gw2 play out, but the fight mechanics are becoming way too weird and crazy for my taste.

Tone of this thread was: this fight is horrible, not hard/easy, horrible. It’s even in the title!
I never said it was too hard or easy, just horrible. I mean what are the invulnerable disco balls for? What connection or purpose do they server in the scheme of things and the story itself, other than to annoy and frustrate you? I have never seen those things before until this update.

But yea, most of this thread has turned into a competition among opportunists looking to show us how good they are and how easy it was for them, while putting down everyone who dare say anything different.

Except that your first post reeks of qq and l2p issues. Just re-read it please.

It basicly is:

“I can’t dodge.”

“I can’t kite/move.”

“I have no idea what stability is.”

“I have no idea what spawns where.”

Also mentioning Old Teq as you kind of enjoyable content… I don’t even…

I’m done with this thread, I’ll get out before I drown in whining.

You misunderstand my meaning about enjoying old tequatil, perhaps I didn’t explain myself well, but I didn’t mean he was necessarily enjoyable, what i meant is that it was a popular event and played by many people, hence enjoyed by many.

But anyway, since you’re going my explaining don’t really matter and btw, no one forced you to join this thread in the first place.

(Sugg) Colour coded recipes.

in Crafting

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Not sure if this has been suggested b4, but i would really like to see colour coding on the recipes according to their rarity. I realise they’re colour coded when u can still get exp form them, but once u max out ur crafting, everything goes pale grey.

I don’t know about others, but i find it terribly frustrating sifting through all that grey matter to find that one recipe i need, especially at 500 crafting and zillion recipes there. The filter system is a nuisance too, yet colour coding would solve this problem nicely imo.

Another thing i would really like to see, is when u click on a recipe to craft something, say planks of wood, that recipe is better highlighted in the main column than it is now. I can barely see which thing I’ve clicked on to craft. A much brighter colour is needed. perhaps white? Anything that would make it stand out more. I don’t know how many times i’ve crafted dowels instead of planks due to poor highlighting of recipes. I know, I know I should look at the outcome but seriously, sometimes when ur tired or u get distracted, it’s way too easy to make the mistake when it’s hard to distinguish what u’ve clicked on.

I have opened 60? 70? Buried Locked Chests farming them 2 hours every night and have not got one of the new kites. By the time I finally (if ever) get one we will be out of the Dry Top and will not need the 33% sandstorm bonus.

I would have rather earned one by crafting, quests, or better yet got one at the end of the story to enjoy while in Dry Top.

Grind, Grind, Grind for nothing?

It’s weird, I hardly ever get any rare drops, I’m just not lucky, but today, on my 2nd chest (and my last key) i get a kite. And so far, I’ve gotten 9 fossils, my very first find had 2 of them in one chest. My only problem is, trying to get almost 4k geodes for all them extremely expensive (and min t4 requirement) recipes. I don’t think I’ll be able to make all of them. So far, I’ve only managed to make 2, g/s and axe.

Too Much Jumping Required

Tiger Ashante.1792

I like Jumping Puzzles, they are fun but optional. When I feel like doing my best impression of lemming I head to one and have hours of eye bleeding fun. I do not however want to be forces to jump everywhere.

I would love to see a change to the mechanics in Dry Top. I know in my guild and circle of on-line friends this requirement has put many off playing in the new areas and completing the living world story.

Please make jumping optional once more, not required. <3

(I know many will say, its optional to do the living story, its optional to explore – but when the whole of the new content is based round those kind of mechanics I think you are stretching the term optional beyond reason.)

Thanks for reading. <3

I don’t like the fact that it’s a requirement to get through the area either, but wouldn’t mind it so much if it wasn’t timed. Some of the jumps are so precise if you miss the key ur done for. I have a bad latency problem and the timed jumps are not as enjoyable as much as frustrating and I swear on some them jumps the skill don’t last 15 seconds, more like 10.

The ones I’ve found most frustrating are the 2 skill points in the newest area and the Vista. But there are also couple of jumps in the first area that are hit and miss depending on my latency. I have not even bothered trying for the goggles or finding all the coins.

However, for the rest, I’ve persisted and have gotten better with it and managed to get everything done on all my 9 characters, except the goggles and the coins, although i managed to get a good number of them.

Rytlock Ritual End Fight

Tiger Ashante.1792

Again, it’s not about difficulty… it’s about whether the fight is enjoyable. For some people, difficult is enjoyable. For some, a fight is enjoyable if it feels difficult (even though it isn’t that hard). For some, a fight is enjoyable if it’s a relaxing breeze.

But none of these have to do with the enjoyability of a fight’s mechanics. A dev can write in code that spawns a bubble and you have to get into that bubble within 5 seconds or you die. Or a dev can code the same bubble and give you 2 minutes to get inside it or you die. Huge difference in difficulty, but the mechanic is the same – and it’s a potentially annoying mechanic, or an enjoyable one that requires some skill, depending on how you look at it.

This ego-stroking “this isn’t hard” prattle doesn’t serve any purpose other than satisfying the person who says it. Nor do proclamations of a fight being “hard” with little explanation as to why – and I’ve seen both in this thread.

There is nothing productive to be gained from taking a potentially complex topic on the design of a fight and simplifying it into a kittening match about its apparent difficulty level.

Kittens, man… kittens everywhere.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment, you are among the few in this thread that get what I was trying to say.

(Sugg) Pls give a tooltip for unlocked minis

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

This seems like a good idea for buying minis off the TP. The problem I see with this is that, unlike weapon skins and armor dyes, minis are not bound to your account. The ones that are bound can’t be sold anyway. I imagine there might be some coding difficulties that aren’t worth trying to tackle. What if you buy the mini but then put it back on the TP but it hasn’t sold yet? I know flipping minis is a poor example but would this new system be required to constantly monitor all your minis across your account because they can be bought and sold at will?

That’s actually a good point, but this was just an idea. I don’t know how they can implement something like that without affecting the trade of minis, but the game does keep a record of those u’ve already collected and deposited into the bank.

Maybe they could stamp the actual mini slot in the bank in some way? Or even change the borders colour for that slot to indicate you already had that mini, would be very helpful. Ofc, this would not alleviate the problem when buying off of the TP, but you could always stay at ur bank, have the mini tabs open and check which ones u already have?

But please if any of you have other ideas, feel free to express them, I’m just kinda brainstorming here in hope to give Anet some ideas.

(Sugg) Pls give a tooltip for unlocked minis

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

As the title suggests, could we please have an indicator for minis, like on dyes, for those we have unlocked? However, that tooltip should not bar you from acquiring or using multiples of the same type. It would be purely an indicator, so if i want 2 same minis on 2 different chars i should be able to do that.

Trying to complete some of my collections, I’ve bought duplicate minis on number of occasions, due to being unsure if i already had it or not. It’s hard to keep a track of which minis you’ve unlocked with having 9 chars and all of them keeping several minis on them. I know i could just keep them in the bank, but even that is time consuming trying to work out which i have, there are so many! Plus i like to have minis on my chars and change them up.

I also realise they could be resold, but that costs gold and i don’t think a tooltip would be too hard or costly to add.

I know i’m gonna get concerned community members saying this would be waste of devs time etc, but i think this would be a nice little QoL i think, at least for those avid mini collectors and lets face it, minis are a big feature in this game.

So please support it if you like the idea and u never know, we may just get it.

Thanks in advance.

Its still NCSoft that decides where to spend the manpower. And its obvious that its not being spent on GW2.

No it isn’t.

It is NCSoft that decides where to put money. Sure they can tell ArenaNet that they must put all their 300 employees at this specific issues or else they will lose their funding, but they can’t order ArenaNet employees to work on non-ArenaNet projects. They are hired by ArenaNet, not NCSoft.

I imagine Anet is given a budget by NCSoft and they decide internally how to spend it. As far as Anet staff working for Carbine, I don’t see it. Maybe unofficially they help out each other with with some things, but working for them, I don’t think so.

If people’s complaints are being heard, Anet needs to say so…not just once in a while. They need to keep saying so. Otherwise, people will simply feel disenfranchised.

Yes, I agree, they need to interact us with us more there’s been hardly anything for some time now.

Perhaps if they created a position of a Community Manager who’s main job is to address the Forum concerns and community in general?

People actually had problems with this boss?
People are actually wanting them to nerf difficulty?
Things in this game are easy enough. I’d rather they stop with the mindless nerfing just to appeal to people that refuse to learn basic mechanics.
To add to the dungeon discussion, every dungeon in the game is easy. When every single dungeon can be beat by the same strategy (stack on boss, kill boss), then dungeons, even arah, should not be considered difficult by anyone.

i agree in 100% , guild wars 2 in few words : 111111 hitting same mob with different name 11111111 boss fight 1111111 world event 111111+runing to the corner 11111111

rly maybe when I was growing up games were more difficult or people just didn`t run to forum after every death writing pls nerf it ,it killed me(eyes full of tears) or i just like games like dark souls ,ninja gaiden 2, older final fantasy even resident evil 2 had higher lvl.

Um, so what are u doing here again?
Coz frankly if the game is so bad for you, so easy and not challenging at all, those games u mentioned are still out there and i’m curious why u are here and not playing them?

I’ve seen people like you in the past coming on these forums, putting gw2 down by whining how easy it is and presents no challenging content for these self-proclaimed hot shots, while in most cases, they don’t even play the game any more. They use semantics and catch phrases like “1111” to demean others and make them feel inadequate and to demean the game itself.

So to appease them, Anet adds events like the great wurm and tequatil, which btw used be enjoyed by a huge number of people, including lower than lvl 80 players, to now where it’s only being done by a select few. Meanwhile, these so called hot shots are nowhere to be seen, They still end up leaving the game anyway, or weren’t playing it to begin with and the gw2’s community has to deal with the consenquences.

Imo, not all content should be hard in a game, particularly an MMO, where u have to cater to masses of varying tastes, ages and abilities. You saying, when i was growing up games were more difficult, reminds me of my grandma, who always made a point to remind me of how things were much harder in her youth. Maybe the reason people didn’t come to complain on the forum in them days, was the very limitation of internet at the time or simply that online games weren’t as popular as they are now. It’s pointless trying to go back to the past, it’s a different world now. Now every man and his dog has a PC and internet connected. Some years ago, i could count on my hand how many had it in my town.

Today, with hectic lifestyles and limited amount of leisure time, some people play games to relax and have fun. Maybe your kind of fun is dying 1000 times and for you that means a good challenge, but it’s not to everyone’s taste and certainly not mine. It’s nice sometimes to just have a “walk in the park” in a game, rather then be stressed out all time with every little bit of content that you come across. I’m not saying that’s what gw2 is, but if Anet listens to these so called hot shots, this game would become unplayable for most people especially newcomers. They would start playing, die a lot, then leave the game and post on internet how gw2 sucks.

I do believe there should be content for players like you as well and you do have some, like fractals, dungeons and those i mentioned above. I’m cretanly not aversed to Anet adding more instanced challenges for people who want that. but open world should be relatively easy for leveling, except perhaps the world events.

But like some others have said in this thread, story should never be presented like that. It should always be enjoyable and about the story itself, with perhaps mild challenges. It should never be about neither skills or kills and certainly not designed for pure frustration just for the sake of it. Because no matter how good the story may be, when u get that frustrated, the story is lost and all it becomes in ur mind is, ugh let me just get through it so i never have to do it again and that is a real shame, especially if the story is good.

Not everyone is good or has desire to exploit mechanics, some ppl actually try to play the game the way it was meant to be. Nor does everyone have a good reaction time due to internet latency, age, illness etc, making spam of CC’s difficult to avoid.

I also think my instance was bugged or something, there was way too many enemies and fear turrets in the room and menders were spawning way too fast one after another, something i didn’t now experience the first time around.

But i must thank you and some of the posters above for your statements “afk and use 11111” and such. What an original thought, never heard that b4 on these forums!

There was literally no skill required. i literally scratch my head at this thread.
