Has there been maintenance or tweaking today?

I’ve been having a really buggy day today. 9/10 times i try to interact with objects/npcs nothing happens. i’ve had this problem in the past on an odd occasion, but today has been really bad.
I have 3 methods of interacting with nodes, npcs etc and none of them were working. sometimes i’ve had to press the keys half a dozen times b4 it would finally work and usually only after a move away then close in within range again.

Also trying to post on forums i keep getting this strange message that this area isn’t available yet or something like that. i’ve mainly tried to post on the Maguma Gate thread today.

Has anyone else experienced these issues? or is could it be something on my end. It’s only happening in gw2 so….

Finally a more 'mature' area.

Yeah I fully agree, I mean don’t get me wrong, like I said, I like the beauty of GW2 zones a lot. But, in all it’s beauty (to me) it lacks character. To me this is mostly due to lighting and dynamic weather, mostly lighting tbh. the clear nights, the always overly lit caverns.

It’s sort of like some of the art made by Rembrant, see he isn’t so famous for what he painted, nor his brush strokes. His most renounced quality in this paintings is the use of light. Light sets the mood, or the lack of light, a bright day will make you happy, while I grey one makes you grumpy. A clear night with a full moon will feel fresh, while a poorly lit night will make it feel damp and cold. A cavern with some flickering torches gives a whole different mood than an overly lit subway entry.

Same things happen with weather, a heavy snowstorm will create a bit of claustrophobia, it feels like a struggle. A mild snow creates anticipation, and some what of a joy (for snowball fights, building snowballs, hot choco and a warm fire place).

These are things I would call ‘character’, as they are character building circumstances. So I have nothing against the beauty of Tyria as it is now, and I thoroughly enjoy it. What I do miss, is the icing on the cake, the character, those things that make a pixelated world (even in a painterly style) feel like almost real. Where the lack of light leaves room for the imagination, or where an abundance of light creates a true focus point (though I did see these).

With this new dust storm area (as long as they are dynamic), we do get an area that has more character. That does leave room for imagination, or at least anticipation. And thus, hopefully the responses will be overly positive, so that Anet will start to touch up Tyria with this in mind…

You can control lighting to an extent with gamma slider. I find some caves (particularly at night) quite dark and find myself having to adjust gamma to see where i’m going, this is mostly in case of JP’s and ofc it depends how deep in a cave I am. Perhaps your gamma is too high? I usually keep mine around 95 points. But really, they need add a lot more sliders to gw2 to control lighting such as background, ambient, brightness etc and not just rely on gamma. And yea nights need some adjustment too.

I would also have to agree about the dynamic weather. One of the biggest things i miss in this game is dramatic weather changes. I mean I play Lotro, an 8 year old game and it has an amazing weather effects. Lightning storms, thunderstorms, heavy rain that last for hours on end, soft rain with sunrays shining thru, snow storms/blizzards etc. So yea, i really hope Anet starts to add those aspects to gw2, it would make traveling thru Tyria so much more immersive. I know there’s snow falling in some parts of Shiverpeaks and some rain u see occasionally in other places, but it’s not enough.

It doesn’t quite fit the atmosphere they showed in the trailer. This is more jungle rather than desert.

Unless we’re getting at least 2 new zones..

I hope so.
There were some areas of Maguma even in gw1 that were lush, Tangleroot and also Aurora Glade area if i remember correctly.

The guys who uploaded this video says he found it on a website, but doesn’t say which one, so i wonder where he got it from.

Even after being around since launch (with various periods of inactivity), I still manage to come back and find things that still put me in awe.

Just today, in Orr, I came across a helicopter dropship that deposited Pact Soldiers and just flew off. I was shocked, I had NO idea such technology existed within the game outside of the Charr war machines and my native races (asura) strange inventions.

I may have map completion on two characters, but every now and again I get reminded that I have not truly “Been There, Done That.”

I know exactly how u feel, i remember feeling the same sense of awe first time i saw that. There are in fact few places in Orr where chopper drops occur, usually prior to events starting, or events failing and Pact soldiers being evacuated, as well as in Arah PS, although that one is a cinematic.

Personally, I would like to see a return of the Shining Blades to prominence, The White Mantle, the Mursat and ofc Glint.

I’m really hoping the Zephyrites do not get destroyed entirely here. From snippets of conversations i’ve heard at the Cliffs, the Zephyrites seem to be the new guardians/protectors of Glint’s legacy, replacing Dwarves in that regard and i hope they will play some major role in the LS2.

Here’s hoping.

Might become interesting if perhaps their role in preserving Glint’s legacy is the reason they’re being targeted.

It’s funny but that’s exactly what i was thinking. I mean if that don’t pan out, why would they put all them hints about Glint at Cliffs? The fact that Zephyrites are being attacked and hints that they may even be from Cantha, the possibilities are endless ugh oh.

(Sugg) Disable buys for maxed acct upgrades

Tiger Ashante.1792

As the title suggests, I would like to see some kind of auto disable on purchasing items from store on maxed out account upgrades, such as bank slots etc.

On Sunday, i noticed bank expansion tabs were on sale and purchased one, not realising my bank was already maxed out. It’s been so long since i maxed it out, i completely forgot, yet the store allowed me to purchase another tab even though i couldn’t use it.

As a result i was forced to contact support, (thanks for your prompt refund) and this could have been avoided if a system like in Lotro was implemented, where if u’ve maxed out ur bank storage or bag slots or w/ever, the store gives u a message: "there is currently nothing available for you to purchase’ or something along them lines.

It would be nice if the game systems kept track of your account upgrades in that way so you don’t have to waste support’s time seeking refunds etc.

Thanks if you’ve read this,

Cheers.

Mini pets that swam b4 today's patch..

My Kasmeer still swim. So not all pets were changed.

Yeah, i just tested Eir mini and she swims but yea queen jenna don’t on the same char so it’s very confusing, as it seems some minis that used to swim now don’t while others still do. I guess it’s for devs to figure out, but to me simplest solution is to let all minis swim, it would save a lot of hassles for devs i think and lot of angst for players who like minis.

I’m not sure if this has been reported. my search found nothing.

I haven’t tested many of the minis, but b4 the patch today, my mini Zojja could swim now she vanishes when i enter water. My Asuran has Zojja and Mr. Sparkles on her and Mr. Sparkles still swims but Zojja doesn’t.

Please devs, please, return swim ability to all our mini pets, I really miss that. I realise you think it’s lore breaking for some pets to swim, but really it is a nuisance as it stands. It’s kinda strange if our minis are barred from swimming due to lore, when my Mr Sparkles can swim (a golem) but not my little doggie? Dogs generally swim very well in real life so why not in game? This is just a small example.

Anyway, i’ve stopped collecting mini pets due to this issue and will not be getting any more until this is fixed/reversed, which is really sad as I love minis.

GW2 has been officially released in China merely 2 weeks ago and it has already hit #5 on their top 10 list, toppling some of the giants along the way.

Now I know some trolls and sourpusses will come along and try to negate this with various rhetoric “it’s a new game”, it’s the honeymoon" etc. etc. etc.

But no matter what you say, the fact that Anet went to China with a very risky business model never before seen over there, makes it a great achievement indeed.

So once again, congratulation Anet and all the best in your future endeavors.

Cheers!

That’s awesome! Now we will get better development here as a result! GG devs and thank you China!

Yep, if it continues to be well received (and frankly i don’t see why it shouldn’t be) it can only mean a good thing for all of us and for the game as a whole.

I know many ppl have expressed their hatred for PS and slammed to no end on these forums which frankly baffles me, as lot of MMO’s don’t even have a story to speak of. My only complaint is that there wasn’t enough of it lol.

Just wanted to say thanks for the great game you have created and the extremely fun content. Thank you for the wardrobe system, thank you for the villain Scarlet, who turned the community on its ear with the thought she may never be slain, thank you for the account bound Legendary/Ascended item fix, thank you for the two handed sigil update, also thank you for the champ train nerf in noob areas! Thank you for the multitude of improvements you have provided. Finally, thank you for trying new things in an MMO and working with the player base to make it better as we go into Living World Season 2. Again, thanks for your hard work and dedication!

Now, to the trolls that will most definitely hit this, grow up and try to look beyond your own nose when it comes to things in life. To those who feel that they are “unique” because they played first and got “x” item, and it should not be ever again offered to the player base, really? By this time, your uniqueness should be portrayed in your ability to make fantastic toon builds that will stomp the kitten out of these noobs in WvWvW and sPvP adding to your pvp reward track. To those that have hurt feelings over not getting what they want when they want it, get a kitten job and learn you are not the center of the universe, the world is not flat, you are not special. Enjoy what you have and participate in the discussions of “making things better” in a constructive manner that Anet can follow and we can stand behind as a gamer community for the betterment of our game! To those that think Anet can operate without a budget or a marketing ploy, aka Item shop. Look at it this way, the item shop is not pay to win, nothing in item shop gives you an advantage over anyone else. Do not want to pay? Don’t, just play. You just won’t have that cool hat everyone has, or that 12 hour extension to your food buff. also, it costs real money to pay for bandwidth, programmers, marketing, salespersons, management, and service technicians to keep your game/forum websites running. So, YES, Anet is trying to make money, again don’t pay more than you are willing to and do not troll more than you should. Again, that is slightly just beyond your own nose, look there from time to time! To those that feel the wardrobe has destroyed there dual legendary set-up, LOL, think about it, put he keyboard away and just really think about it. If you can’t figure it out, then just quit, we are all better off without you.
Finally, to the community at large, thank you for being such a great group of players, thank you for being passionate and working with Anet to give me the game I so love and enjoy! Again Anet, NICE JOB!
To players just coming in, GW2 is a great game and after you get involved, it’s what you make it. I have played from day one, have all professions and toons to level 80, fully geared and still love this game and have more than enough to keep me busy! Give it a shot!

To those that utter fan boy, LOL, work for what you have and quit begging and crying for what you want! PEACE!!!!

+1
Well said!

and then 1 month later China realize there is no end game in gw2…

Oh dear, that again. I feel sorry for you people, really i do. gw2 has barely began to expand its horizons and you keep harping about some imaginary end game. omg what’s happened to gamers these days, so brainwashed by these insidious games they cannot see the forest for the trees.

are you 1 of those casuals who plays 1 or 2 hours a day who doesn’t see the big pic? GW2 has lost a lot of players since LS1 out and that is a fact. Most of the big guilds since pre released have like 10 members at best now. Every MMOs need some kind of game to have its keep the players strive for. GW2 isn’t a bad game but it need something for players to keep playing.

Like what? raids? gear treadmill? For a start if gw2 is losing players, that really doesn’t concern you as player, that’s the company’s problem. You as a player only have to worry about having fun in the game. That doesn’t mean i don’t care about the game, i support it whenever i can and that’s what we all should do if we want to get that new content, not just complain about it.

But no matter what’s laid out before you, the company can’t make u have fun. You have to find your own fun. They can give you the tools, the environments and places to go, but ultimately it’s up to you to enjoy the world they’ve created for you.

If you only ever played games that held you hand, told you what to do every step of the way and don’t u dare sway form that arrow pointing u ahead you may not find gw2 satisfying, because in gw2, you have to make your own goals. The tools are there, the content is there, you just got to decided what you want to do form the plethora of choices on the table.

And fyi, I’ve been playing gw2 since BWE1 and every day since head start. My daily play varies, but suffice to say i’ve played well over 5k hours and i have hardly touched the dungeons, have played a bit of WvW, but i’ve not set foot in PvP as yet. I have x9 lvl 80 all with 100% map completions, i got all my crafts to 500 and i have crafted a legendary weapon, The Birfrost. Ive never farmed and i’ve earned my legendary weapon, simply through playing the game. Sure it took me a long time but that was ok by me, it was a long term plan of mine anyway. I’ve not gambled on Mystic Forge to get it either. Granted it would have been more epic if the precursor dropped for me but i’m not that lucky so i bought mine and despite all of that i’m not exactly poor.

Granted, i too am dying for some new maps etc and they will come, but seriously, i think gw2 has more replayable content than many other games out there of the same age and some even older ones.

How can i think that? Well for a start in a typical MMO, you go through maps in order of lvls and as u lvl up all the areas behind you become obsolete, u never go there, even if you missed some places. So you rush to so called end game and what’s waiting for you there? 1 or 2 dungeons and gear grind where u get to run those dungeons over and over and over ad nauseum.

Meanwhile in gw2, I log in i do what i want, i go where i please, i do events in whatever gorgeous map i want and complete my dailies/monthlies along the way, do a bit of crafting, a bit of gathering, a bit of chest hunting, do a few world bosses sometimes i do some jumping puzzles and before i know it, several hours have gone by. Well that to me is much more fun than being stuck in some dark, boring dungeon day in and day out, rarely seeing daylight, but that’s just me.

@Fasalina.6571

Ok i see where u’r coming from, u’r deeply into lore and i can understand that. I guess i too feel disappointed a bit that the lore from gw1 was not brought forth in a more meaningful way at the start of gw2, where they gave an overview of the first game and it’s connection to gw2. But that game is so huge, the stories so big, how do u condense them into one cinematic? Perhaps they should have a cinematic library somewhere in Durmand Priory, or in Divinity Reach somewhere where u can relive some of them moments, or shows u a nice overview of the lore. They had so many wonderful cinematics in gw1 that basically told the story in a concise way, they could make up some kind of montage from them to show pple the history etc.

Although i got into gw1 lore as much as i could when i started playing, i realised i had lots of missing stuff after watching many WoodenPotatoes vids on lore, yes i did watch them. It was mostly the backgrounds stuff that was not really broadly explained in missions etc that i needed to fill in. When all put together like that, gw lore is absolutely fascinating and deserves to be more prominent.

I started gw1 some time after Nighfall came out and i bought that campaign to start with. It was my first online game and i wasn’t sure if i would like it. I ended up liking it and then got Faction, then Prophecies and finally Eye of the North. So i did everything backward lol, which didn’t help me fully appreciate the lore as it may have done had i done it in the right order.

But in the end, i think that like any story books, stories do run it’s course and its hard to keep them going and keep making them interesting. Sometimes you have to begin a new chapters, new story with perhaps still some common threads, but with 250 year jump, all them epic characters dead, they had to create something new. Don’t lose hope though, there’s plenty of room to reconnect everything, it just may not be as simple as staring a new one and it may take some time.

I can understand if people leave GW2 and not play other MMOs, but in terms of MMOs I don’t know where they are going to go at all.

Went back to, and am currently enjoying World of Warcraft, Got Mists of pandaria, and love playing a monk.

No game compares to it and no game coming out in the near future will seem to compare so far, either.

Guess you have not heard of EQ next? From what I have seen, it will leave Gw2 in the dust.

GW2 has some problems, sure, but it’s an incredible game – best game I’ve ever played and I plan to stick around for some time and to those who think that things don’t get fixed – they do. I’ve been around since launch and the game has really improved in a lot of ways.

I have also been around since launch, but saying it has really improved in a lot of ways, is missing the forest for the pretty trees.

Some of the trees may be in and of themselves pretty, but the forest, taken as aa whole, is worse than launch. The game has taken to monetizing as much content as possible, therefore the game is Gold centric…. or gem centric. Then by Nerfing any Gold farming they discover to the ground… Gold acquisition itself is Gem centric.

The game is becoming an excuse to get people onto the servers, so that they can be gem shopped to utter death.

I decided to go back to WoW because at least there, i know, I pay $15 a month…. I then get CONTENT. In Gw2, I MIGHT not pay anything…but I get the gem store rammed down my throat. The Minute anyone finds a way to generate gold repeatedly… consistently…within game…it’s nerfed to bloody hell. So that leaves them with the gem store to purchase their gold. Anyone else notice how they have started doing IN GAME announcements about what is in their Gem shop? Along with a friendly reminder that they also sell Gold?

Better games? I think a Lot of players are looking at gw2 through Rose colored Goggles when they say " No game Like it." Well… they are right , there is no game like it. The main issue is…that is a bad thing in this case… for gw2.

Well that’s fine dear, u go back to your WoW and we who enjoy gw2 will keep looking at the game with “rose-coloured” glasses coz you know what? It sure looks pretty and as longs as one is enjoying a game, what does it matter? Just as a matter of interest, what colour glasses are u wearing?

why did you make it so painful to start a new character? the new trait system forces you to do map exploration for EVERYTHING.

just buy the skills you say? for 50 silver + and 2+ skillpoints!!!! I can live with the cash just means more money for anet >=( but the skill points are a bit harsh, REMOVE THAT REQUIREMENT

Geez u think that’s bad? How about playing a game that’s not only lvl gated for getting ur traits, but you have to complete every quest in a zone like 50 of them, just for 1 trait point! And let me tell you, most of these quests aren’t fun, its go kill x, kill y and u have to get like 65 trait points to max lvl! Sure u also get a trait point every 2 lvls too but each level can take u a day or 2!

For me, leveling in gw2 is the best part and it has the best lvling system of any games i played. in fact it’s too fast if you ask me if u actually do everything in a map. But to me its always fun and i have 9xlvl 80. Granted, i’ve not lvled a char since the changes have been made but i don’t think that would bother me at all.

Make a new character and go trait-hunting. Then come back and discuss.

Funny you should say that, but i was actually thinking about doing just that so i can experience that feeling i used to get skill hunting in gw1. but i’ve already duplicated one class and really don’t see the point in doing it any more, so i’m waiting for a new class to come out.

And btw, i collected all the grand master traits for all my 9 chars, not with gold but by doing the content required. I loved it, it was tons of fun actually. The only one i found frustrating was Grenth and Lyssa, Grenth for crazy 1 shot kills and Lyssa for long waits between events. but i just kept doing other stuff in the area till they came around and if i didn’t have time to wait, i just tired it the next day. it took me about a month of casual hunting to get them all.

Having played just about every MMO and RPG out there, this frail, aging 44 year old gamer still finds that to this day, there are only two online games that he has given his most time to, World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2.

This post is not about World of Warcraft. That is for another time.

I want to talk about Guild Wars 2. More importantly, on how I constantly see crowded in game cities and how it appears in the top 10 most played pc games from sites ranging from Xfire to Raptr, and yet it is also the most consistently frowned upon MMO in most online forums. This is a game that was the next step up. If World of Warcraft borrowed the Everquest model and made its game more polished, then Guild Wars 2 took all the little irritating things about all MMOs and eliminated them completely.

This is a game were you “see” what is going on right in front of you, and react. You are never told by NPCs to go kill x amount of spiders, and questing can involve many different ways to complete an area. Small events pop up and sometimes even collide. Exploration is encouraged and completing a zone map actually leads to a reward.
You can deposit material items to your bank from anywhere in the game, you craft straight from your bank, can read email from anywhere. There is shared looting so if someone tags a mob before you, as long as you hit, you get credit. Everyone can mine the same ore so you don’t get upset at other players. Anyone can resurrect anyone else which has created a sub culture of some very nice, helpful players. The game runs great, has a nice interface, beautiful graphics, gorgeous music, AND it is buy to play, making it one of the better deals around. There is little or no downtime whatsoever, and it has that special quality of being easy to get into but difficult to master. It has a sense of humor, excellent lore and even jumping puzzles for some of those parkour fans. The starting areas are fantastic and epic, and having outdoor giant monster Shadow Behemoth-like open events in all the starting areas is a real eye-opener. The wardrobe and specifically dye system is one of the best around.

The end game is what we always knew it would be. People complain about the lack of gear progression but that’s what Guild Wars 2 was always going to be. Even though there are some small upgrades, it has never really been about gear at level 80. In fact, to me, it is more about how you look cosmetically at level 80, which is refreshing, to say the least. The lack of a holy trinity has made finding dungeon groups so much easier, as there is no waiting around for a tank or healer, and holds you more accountable for getting out of the way of damage.

While there have been bumps with the living story content only being temporary, future updates are rumored to be more permanent additions, so ArenaNet has listened. Some of the content was quite impressive including the attack on Lion’s Arch and the very popular Super Adventure Box. Updates in general seem to come as fast if not faster than other games that have subscriptions.

My question is, what am I missing here? Is it jealousy? Are a lot of these internet anti-GW2 rants actually shills from other companies? Maybe GW2 is not your cup of tea, I get it. But I get sick and tired of someone randomly saying “GW2 sucks” or it is a flop because it just does not make sense. It does not add up.

Everything you said there, was said so eloquently and it summed up all my feelings nicely for the game, i couldn’t have said it any better. But what you said in your last paragraph about shills, i think there’s definitely lot of that as well.

and then 1 month later China realize there is no end game in gw2…

Oh dear, that again. I feel sorry for you people, really i do. gw2 has barely began to expand its horizons and you keep harping about some imaginary end game. omg what’s happened to gamers these days, so brainwashed by these insidious games they cannot see the forest for the trees.

Pretty much all GW1 players know about this, it’s nothing new.

So you believe this thread is just for gw1 players? well that’s news to me. and btw, i’m gw1 player (latecomer to it to be sure) and i didn’t know about it, so don’t go around making assumptions about everyone, or speaking for everyone, it’s not couth.

Pretty much all GW1 players know about this, it’s nothing new. And this is one of the many reasons people like me cringe and some have stopped playing. The land of Tyria has great potential, there’s a huge world out there that can be created. I honestly believed that the GW universe could’ve expanded and expanded, new continents, new seas, new monsters, new schemes. I believed the GW universe could’ve become something like the TES universe. Alas, the devs never thought about it…. or thought about it but considering the amount of work needed to make something like this they didn’t bother. I mean why create new continents new, breath taking views, enemies, skills, and stories, when you can ask your 4 year old kids to write a story every 2 weeks, reskin a buch of weapons with different colors and make a kitten ton of money.

Well i think some of the things you said there are a bit harsh. It’s not easy to create a new content for MMO as it may be for single player game because often you’re not just making one map for a single play thru and in case of where u have expansions and other continents, they have to be all connected to the game world via story, lore etc to everything u’ve made b4.

It took AN 5 or more years to create what’s here and they didn’t just copy and paste stuff from gw1 to gw2 either. The gw2 world was fully recreated anew and hand crafted for us to enjoy, that’s a lot of work. I mean they could have just copied lots of areas from gw1 and just enhanced them and lots of gw1 fans would have complained that its just a recycled old game. They design a complete new world and they complain that it isn’t gw1. Lol the devs can’t win really.

Designing worlds and filling them up is probably the most time consuming thing if you want them to be original. I’m not a game designer but i know one thing, its a very time consuming thing and i imagine the code for gw2 is as complex as hell, especially when u factor in all the dynamic stuff in the game.

And yet despite this complexity, i think they’ve done a marvelous job. Everything pretty much works well and as it should. Sure things bug out now and then when new updates happen, this always happen in every MMO, but when u consider the complexity of this game compared to some others i can’t help but appreciate the work in this game.

But getting back to the map, i don’t think that map is just for today. What that tells me, if gw2 does well there may well be gw3 and beyond. There’s certainly enough land mass there for a long future and to make at least 1 more game.

I simply wanted to point out that it would be easier to necro an older thread which contained more information and hypothesis instead of starting an other one and coming up with the same thing.

But I’ll admit that I’m bad a searching. And also lazy at it.

Heh yea well i’m not game resurrecting a year old thread lol, if u are go for it. Plus there’s lots of new people in the game now who weren’t there year ago and wouldn’t have a clue about that thread as i didn’t and i was here, so really i don’t see any harm in it.

There’s nothing wrong with discussing an interesting subject again that’s been buried away, if for no other reason then for new players who may be interested in something like this. And forum system does not like u resurrecting old threads either.

Anyway, I’m not aware of this discussion ur referring to and my search revealed nothing, but hey, thanks for your input.

I think GW2 will head up into the top 3 and possibly even hit no. 1 spot, especially if for Season 2 they do regular 2 weekly updates from July 1st. Got a feeling the Chinese will love that…

The Chinese can stand the grind better than us, but they also care more about the loot than us. GW2 a loot doesn’t go well together.

Well from all the QQ i have seen on these forums about loot, i’d say we like loot as much as the next man lol.

Personally, in my experience, GW2 loot is the best around. I don’t know of any games that give guaranteed loot chests for completing general stuff on daily basis. I’ve done tier 3 raids in some games over and over which are really long and hard and get zip at the end. But, I’m not really the type that plays purely for loot, ofc it’s nice to get it, but its not my primary reason for playing, so perhaps my view of this is somewhat skewed.

However, i hope this thread doesn’t turn into a debate about loot, we got enough of those all over forums already.

The loot’s fine until you get to the endgame.

The problem is that there’s no medium-termed goals and everything after the initial round of loot feels terribly unrewarding.

Take the Queen’s Gauntlet for example. The initial completion, its amazing. You move up through the ranks, you hear the announcer announce your entry differently, you get achievements and even a mini+title after you down Lladri. It felt good.

But that’s what, 3 hours at most? After that, there’s basically no in between rewards. Chances have a miniscue chance to drop LS rares or the coveted Lyssa’s Chaos recipe, but thats the very long term rewards that you jump over the moon when you do get it, there;s nothing to keep you going until then.

Take TSW’s raid for example. There’s the Subway Tokens which is the raid-exclusive BiS tank/DPS talisman which everyone wants and rarely drops: the long term goal. But until then, every complete of the raid gets you a guaranteed number of tokens to buy non-raid BiS stuff with (the raid BiS gear apart from the tokens are only situationally better) and you’ll probably get some less coveted raid drops if you run in a guild group as well: the medium term goal.

That kinda sounds like gw2 dungeon token system to me. and i also think its awesome that you can craft the best gear in gw2 if you so choose and not purely rely on a /roll system in dungeon where only 1/12 ppl may get that coveted reward that everyone is after.

It’s pretty awsome, leaves them open to expand loads more, I once saw some concept art that depicted a future asura city and it looked awesome, if guild wars continues to be a profitable business, it could expand in so many ways, guild wars 2 is set 200years after 1 is it not? There could eventually be a 3 that’s set even further into the future of tyria, like a mix of fantasy lore and futuristic would be awsome, can already see that happening with asura technology now, and it works rather well, so many avenues this game world could go

Yes, super exciting stuff just to even know its there and 250 years after the gw1.

Tiger Ashante.1792

why did you make it so painful to start a new character? the new trait system forces you to do map exploration for EVERYTHING.

just buy the skills you say? for 50 silver + and 2+ skillpoints!!!!

Did you know that Tyria is a big planet with huge masses of lands, oceans and islands we have never seen? In fact according to this globe we have only seen a small fraction of it in the span of gw1 and gw2 so far. There’s lots of future stories that could be told in those lands don’t you think?

Thanks WoodenPotatoe, great find!

PS devs, plz don’t move this to linksvile, i would like to generate some discussion and ideas about this globe.

Cheers!

(Sugg) Put crafters name on items they craft

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

As the title says, to give more pride and meaning to items you craft and want to sell and to make yourself known as a crafter, allow us to put our names on the crafted items, whether for private or trade use.

I always feel good when i craft something in Lotro and my name is automatically added to that item: Crafted By (insert character name).

Lotro goes one step further and allows you to name certain items you craft, at least those of higher quality, so if you make a blade or a piece of armor, you can give it a name. If Anet made this possible they could just allow you (via a little pop up window) to name those items that they haven’t named themselves already, like for eg: Legendary weapons or other named weapons and armor. Obviously, they wouldn’t want those changed but i don’t see why we can’t name our own stuff, like even ascended gear. Instead of everything just having that same name, Ascended shoulder, Ascended boots etc.

Oh and also, if you apply skin to an item, the crafter’s name should always show there as the maker of the original item. The named skins or items can still remain as the actual main heading titles, while the crfater’s name would appear below it.

What do you think guys? If you enjoy crafting, would you like to see something like this implemented? I think it would make the crafting a bit more personal and meaningful.

I know what you mean. Timberline and Frostgorge are my fav maps, although i really like Orr as well (especially on high graphic settings) and think it’s very much underrated.

Here a couple of shots of Timeberline Falls, one of Lonar Pass and one of Orr.
