Great Idea: Personal Legendaries

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

I really like the Lotro’s Legendary Weapon system. I could write a book about it, but i’ll try to be as brief as i can, but i think it’s worth mentioning it as i think some of these ideas could be used (although knowing Anet, i know they want to forge their own legend by doing things differently to anyone else lol). Still this may give them some inspiration, i hope.

AT lvl 50 (although you can start at lvl 45), but it’s a lvl 50 quest) you get a quest to obtain your legendary weapon. The quest has a few stages, first getting the weapon, then a kind of tutorial where you have to lvl up ur weapon to lvl 10, then you have to take it to a forge master to reforge it, then to a relic master who shows you how to insert relics (up to 4 and the last one can only be crafted by the player who will use it).

Your weapon has to be reforged every 10 lvls or it won’t get further exp until you do that and this is how you gain legacies (weapon’s stats) Each time the weapon is reforged, u get a choice of 2 legacies to choose form to add to your weapon and you can have 6 and get one extra with a special item, but this is high lvls stuff.
These legacies are directly related to your class skills, except the first one, which increased your weapon’s base dmg. These legacies may improve dmg of certain skills or it may reduce cooldowns on them or make certain buffs last longer etc (kinda works bit like traits or even typical weapons stats that gw2 has).

Each lvl gained by your weapon, you also gain certain number of points to distribute among your legacies .

Upon acquisition, the weapon is at lvl 1 and u basically lvl it by killing foes and completing quests. You only get exp from quests in lvl 50+ zones.

Your weapon goes up to lvl 60 but you can extend it to 70 by using a special scroll. These scrolls are often given as epic quest rewards or may drop from locked lootboxes. The keys for these boxes also drop form mobs and can be traded.

Once you compete the first part of your quest, you then get a small 2nd part, where you get your 2nd legendary/weapon item. Some classes get to use 2 legendary weapons, while others get a class slot item instead, as there are not legendary shields, those classes that use a shield and 1h weapon usually get a class slot item.

Once you complete these quests and start questing in those lvl appropriate zones, other legendary weapons (of which there are 3 types) start dropping from mobs, at least the lowest tier ones. These weapons are always unidentified and you have to take them to forge masters scattered around the world to identify them.

Lowest type is 3rd Age series (a pink color and very common drop form mobs)

2nd Age series, is teal color and may drop from mobs up to lvl 60, though very rarely. Mostly they’re found in dungeons where bosses may drop them.

The 1st Age weapons are gold color and most sought after. They have the highest dmg rating, highest points awarded per lvl and are hardest to get. The teal and gold weapons higher than lvl 60 can only be crafted by the players who have maxed out their reputation with the in-game crafting guild, made up of NPC’s.

Upgrading:
The weapons that drop in the world are generally used to deconstruct at the Relic Master to extract new legacies but mostly for relics. There’s an entire relic upgrading system, which to get say relic lvl 10 may take deconstructing100’s of pink weapons, which is the part i don’t like as it makes it rather tedious and girndy and diminishes that initial awe and excitement of getting your first legendary weapon.

This is a very deep and complex system and a lot of your game time revolves around ur legendary weapons, constantly upgrading them as u lvl up and making them better and it basically never ends. Because very often as soon as you got that 1st Ager, they up the lvls and you have to stat over again lol. But at this point, your in a much better position to get your weapon sorted out quickly as by now u got many relics built up and also better knowledge of how you want to shape your weapon.

Sorry about the lengthy post here, but there’s lot to this and it’s hard to describe it in a few sentences.

Edit: i accidentally hit submit instead of preview and had to edit some typos., but there’s probably more lol.

You are not on any server. All the previously existing ones were removed and every zone is now an overflow (they call it Megaserver). The only place where server specific areas still exist is WvW.

Oh ic, tnx, wonder why that guy was saying we were on SoR then?

Will You Be Playing GW2 Less Post Patch ?

Tiger Ashante.1792

As much as I’m dying for Elona, Cantha and all other amazing places of Tyria to be unlocked, i intend to play gw2 for as long as i have at least some things to do in the game, all in hope that one day soon, I’ll see all those nostalgic places from it’s predecessor. It’s just a matter of time imo.

Tyria is HUGE people, what we got so far is a tiny spec of the world and this last update is certainly laying a nice core foundation for the game.

Being B2P game, the content we want may not be rolling out as fast as we would like but it’s still the best value/quality-for-money MMO out there imo.

Perhaps a bit more monetary support wouldn’t hurt to speed up the process of getting what most of us are waiting for….one huge opening of Tyria! Here’s hoping and to back it up i’ll be spending a bit more money in the shop again soon.

I do get tired of ppl accusing Anet of greed really. It just isn’t justified imo, although the BLC locked skins do kinda point in that direction, but in the end, they are just skins and completely voluntary. Unlike some free games that lock everything behind cash shop, including areas maps, instances, QoL stuff etc. Anet basically gives us all those things for free, when really they could do the same.

So yea, though it took me a while, i’m totally attached to my chars now and hope to play gw2 for as long it’s running.

The wait was not worth it

@OP
I’m not saying some of your reasons aren’t valid, but for someone who claims to be loaded and cares about the game, also says in the same breath they haven’t spent a cent in the gem shop to support this game (a basically free to play game of such high quality as gw2) is rather contradictory and really does not earn you the right to complain about neither game, nor gems shop you obviously haven’t supported.

I (perhaps more, or as much as anyone) want new permanent content, new maps etc, but i think Anet is doing a marvelous job considering that they are B2P game and I feel are extremely generous as a company.

If you don’t believe me, try out ESO. The greed there is beyond measure and although i’m not in business of pitting one company against another or putting down one dev team over another, those guys are amateurs compared to Anet dev team when you consider what they’ve given us for so little money.

People complain about bugs in gw2, omg you don’t know what you’re talking about (once again, looking at you ESO). Put it this way, I’ve been playing since BWE1 and i’m still playing gw2 today, have been logging in every day since then and i’ve tried other games, betas etc but nothing comes even close to gw2. So when i see some 1 bashing the game they obviously played for a long time for free and got their money’s worth 10x over, i get a bit riled.

Perhaps if OP supprted the game a bit more, maybe it would aid in adding some more content. And just coz Anet has tried something different with the LS that don’t give you the right to bag the entire game down. After all, its their game and they can do as they please. All we can do is try give them some constructive feedback but it’s up to them if they want to take it onboard and if their direction don’t please you that’s fine too. After all, you have 1200 steam games to play, right?

This is an awesome patch, lots of work and thought has gone into and i had lots of fun discovering all the stuff (haven’t had a chance to check this megaserver stuff, but tbh, i have to agree with some posters above, that it was a bit too much in one hit.

I got 9×80′s and managed to sort out traits etc for 5 of them (I think lol) and was totally exhausted buy the end of it all. So i left the rest till tomorrow.

To add to that, I also play Lotro and they added a new patch a day b4 this one (as well as their 7th anniversary festival) and it also contained lots of changes so yea, totally spent, but in a good way.

Auto Loot Needs to be Reworked

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

+1 totally support this, never understood why they designed the auto loot this way, to me auto loot means everything goes directly into your inventory.

What would also be good, is to have an overflow loot bag system like in Lotro, so if ur bags are full while running a dungeon or w/ever it goes into this overflow bag and you can collect it once back in town.

Additions to account wallet?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Actually what they could add is something similar as Danikat pointed out is a separate storage panel/bag to your inventory that holds all store purchased items only.

I used to play Runes of Magic and all your characters had a store item tab in the inventory system, so whenever you purchased anything from their store it automatically went into this storage area. This included any gifts from the game as well, such as birthday presents or w/ever, but i guess getting them in the mail is fine too, except if your mail box is full this could pose a problem.

I haven’t tried WS so can’t comment, but as some have also tossed ESO into the frey, i can comment on that since i did participate in the last 2 ESO betas.

I used to play a lot TES games, like Morrowind and Oblivion and more for nostalgic reasons than anything else, i was so looking forward to ESO, but was very undecided after they announced their payment model….it seems terribly expensive, full box price + sub + cash shop! omg really! And i didn’t like that a whole race…well at least the look of one…was locked behind a paywall even b4 the game released!

I was excited when i got beta invite so i can finally make a decision one way or the other and i have. Not getting it, not for now anyway.

As much as the world was nice and some really nice quest plots, the game was sooo bugged it was awful. almost every quest was bugged where i couldn’t progress and this worried me greatly being only 2 weeks b4 release (although some pple were saying that we were playing an old build but i’m not sure if that was true or not and if it was, how strange to do that for their last beta)?

Leveling was snail pace. I played a lot during the 2 weekends it took me both
to reach lvl 10! Now i don’t mind slower lvling but that was way too slow for my liking. The UI was awkward, the combat was awkward, the animations ugh. But i will say this, if it was b2p, i wouldn’t think twice buying it, just coz of the great story, interesting plot quests and ofc being able to explore a whole new world.

Anyway, it was a relief to be back in gw2, it was like coming home…..but…. i’m sad. i really need some new zones in gw2. I’m mostly a pve person and love exploring and i’m bored. these days, i just log in for my dailies and log out /sad face. and now with the daily AP limit which i’ll reach with 200 AP more, i’ll have no reason to log into gw2, unless they open up Tyria and i may well move onto other pastures, regardless whether they’re greener or not.

Hopefully, when we get some new maps, we’ll get one that has nothing but giants and it will count toward this achievement. Well, I can dream can’t I?

Tiger Ashante.1792

I would like to chime in and give my thanks to Anet teams for all the hard work they’ve put in for this QoL update.

I am a bit concerned though, that legendary weapons are being unlocked as skins, which may cheapen them and make them less prestigious. I know people can transmute their legendaries even now onto lower lvl chars etc, but that would kinda destroy their rarity, so i don’t imagine many people would be doing that.

Having them Account Bound is fine, it would allow my bifrost to be moved around if i so desire, but I’m not so sure unlocking them as skins for all characters is such a good idea (just my opinion though) as i imagine we will be seeing nothing but legendaries now everywhere we go.

I’m also somewhat concerned about the cost of transmuting skins, people will go wild i imagine, but i can understand Anet has to make money from their cosmetics as well, so it’s a reasonable compromise I guess.

Sorry if this has been reported before, search revealed nothing.

I haven’t played my Necro for a while and logged her in recently. She plays Minion Master and I noticed that Flesh Golem does not attack for at least 50% of the time if not more. He just stands there a lot of the time. It seems he reacts better if something hits me, but if i hit something he often does not react and attack my target. Even my shade minion seems to ignore enemies sometimes, but not as regularly as the Flesh Golem.

Is this a known bug? Is anyone else having this problem? Would a dev plz look into this and let me know.

It would be a major QoL feature. It’s just a pain in the kitten to have to keep up with 4 or 5 different armor skins in your bank. But I’m pretty sure that’s what Anet wants you to do. If you didn’t have to save so much armor and weapons, then you don’t have to purchase as much bank space, so adding a feature like this would be hurting their pocket book.

Someone mentioned in another thread though, that this WAS something that was being talking about at Anet, but who knows if it’s already been scrapped because of the reasons I mentioned.

Yea i’ve heard mention of a skin system being worked on here and there, but it’s been all quiet for a long while.

As far as not doing something like this due to people not wanting to purchase bank slots etc. well i got my bank maxed out even though there’s no wardrobe system and I don’t think that would prevent people from buying the bank slots.

In any case thinking like that simply isn’t sustainable in a game that relies on selling skins, because sooner or later people will have their bank maxed and then what? I know they can add more tabs but those things are one-off purchases while they can keep creating skins infinitely, imagination is the only limit.

You used the current system of Zenith skins and added a skin slot on Hero panel like in gw1 where u put the skins over ur armor.

I know you want to make money via transmutations but to me that is a bad system for several reasons, each transmutation removes the existing look and people like me, who worked hard to get the looks they wanted are not prepared to overwrite them and therefore don’t spend any money on the new skins or trans crystals.

But no matter how good something looks, you feel like a change after a while and it would be totally awesome to be able to change ur looks at whim. You would sell a lot more skins from the shop and by all means put them all in there just like in gw1. i’ll be happy to give u money for such a system.

I’m not saying you should remove trans crystals all together, they still may have their uses, but should not be primary focus.

For eg: i would buy all 3 zodiac skins if the skin system worked as i stated above and there many others i would have bought….will buy if such a system was implemented. But as it stands, I won’t be buying any, as i don’t want to lose my current looks.

Imagine this. I have 9 characters, each have a look i like atm but i would like to change it often if it were possible, except i can’t without loosing the original look. I bought flamekissed armor, which i think is awesome on my ele, but i also like the new zodiac light, so if want to change to that, i would have to overwrite the flamekissed! No way? Or have many separate armor sets with different looks! Again, no way!

However, if the above system was in place, i would probably have 4-5 different looks for each of my 9 chars, think about it Anet, each set of 3 armor pces would give you 2400 gems just from me! As it stands, you get 0. Nor will you make any gems on crystals from me as i do not intend to overwrite my existing look. Hence, why i’m not even gonna bother crafting ascended which i don’t like the look of and would have to transmute….which i think is a shame and a waste.

So you already have a system in place for Zenith skins, all you would have to do is add that skin slot on Hero panel like in gw1 and i don’t think that would be too difficult to implement.

I love the new zodiac skins, really, really beautiful work, kudos to the designers but sadly, i won’t be enjoying them any time soon and that makes me sad.

Comments appreciated especially from Anet.

I’d say try again. This time, use the search function in your character’s inventory and bank slots. I’ve had items go ‘missing’ where the only thing that made them turn up was to use the search function to weed out the visual chaffe. It’s really difficult to find a particular tree in a forest ;D

Also, use a unique part of its name and spell it correctly. ‘lynx’ would do.

I followed ur advice and used the search function, but as I already suspected, nothing. My Mini Lynx is gone!

I hadn’t checked my mini collection for a while but recently i started to try and complete my minis sets 1 &2 and noticed that my mini lynx isn’t in the vault anymore.

Mini Lynx was one of the first minis I ever bought from TP and used to keep it on my thief, as i thought it suited her, but once i got more minis i gave her something else and deposited the mini lynx into the vault (as I said, quite sometime ago) and now its gone.

I checked all my chars to make sure none of them have it and nope, it’s vanished. And no, I didn’t sell it or anything like that, never sold a single mini, only bought them.

I know its not a special mini or anything, but my concern is more for the fact that it disappeared from vault and that this sort of thing can happen. I got so many minis now and i’m wondering if any others have gone missing that i’m not aware of.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I would like to have an answer regarding this as well.

I’m extremely worried about this as i used the skin soon as i bought it and b4 all the drama ensued relating to it.
Personally, I think they should just leave those for ppl who bought that skin and let them keep it and be done with it. Then design a new set, something that would be just as nice for the rest. It would allow for a bit of variety too.

My Ele who used the armor skin is a human so it fits her well and doesn’t really break the lore. But I do find it a bit annoying when I see Norns with it. It just doesn’t fit the lore and reminds me of the drama surrounding it.

Tiger Ashante.1792

Well, invisible bags always worked perfectly fine for me. And also, I always look at what I’m selling/salvaging. You can also buy something back that you sold to an NPC by accident.

So I don’t really see a problem there myself.

i know u can buy things back, but u only have a limited time within which u can buy items back. so if u don’t realise it right away that u sold something important, too bad its gone.

Not only that, but to get ur item(s) you can only buy it back from the very trader u sold it to. So if u don’t remember where u sold it too bad.

Think of this scenario, you’re tired after long questing or w/ever, ur ready to log off but want to clear out ur bags first and you sell something u didn’t want to without realising it. You log off and then as ur about to fall sleep it hits you, hmmm too bad, its gone forever. You’d just want to hope it wasn’t that precursor that just dropped for you lol, as many of them look just like any other weapon in the game. I know they’re of exotic quality but seriously when ur eyes a bleary, its easy to mistake colours especially at night.

Anyway, I’m not suggesting we should get rid of the bags, they can stay as they are, but this would be an additional safety option for the community that want to use it. I for one would definitely use it and i’m sure many others would too once they saw the benefit of it.

Suggestion: Option to Lock items

Tiger Ashante.1792

There are many different type bags for inventory that help with auto-sorting.

From the wiki:

Basic — No special properties

Craftsman’s Bags — Looted crafting material is placed here first.

Oiled Packs — Looted junk is placed here first.

Equipment Boxes — Looted weapons and armor are placed here first.

Invisible Bags/Safe Boxes — Items in these bags can be sold neither to merchants nor at the Black Lion Trading Company. They do not move when inventory is sorted. Using ‘Deposit Collectibles’ will not affect items inside invisible bags.

So, in a sense, we already have these functions. As for salvaging, anything rare and above is supposed to pop a warning asking if you’re sure you want to salvage. Anything you sell to an NPC can be bought back immediately for what they paid you for it.

In the end, I understand and kind of like your idea, I just don’t think it’s necessary.

The only thing I do wish is that equipped items go directly to your invisible box/bag when you “unequip” them rather than having to fish them out of the first available slot when you swap weapons.

I see what you’re saying and i’m aware of all of that, but trust me, I use the lock/unlock system in Lotro and it’s much better than this bag system. Consider this, ur locked items are always safe no matter where they are, including minis. They can go into any bag in ur inventory and they’re safe, this is especially handy for items u always keep in ur bags and if ur items get scattered, once u get rid of stuff u don’t want to keep, just use sort button and all ur locked items stack neatly together.

Anyway, this is not some flippant idea, im talking from experience here. Like i said, i use a system like this in Lotro all the time and it works fantastic. Once u get used to it u’d never want to go back to having a bag for this a bag for that, but if u got any space in those bags it dumps whatever in there anyway, defeating the whole purpose of them.

The only thing Lotro lacks is that sorting option (i think they’re working on that too) but even without that, it still works better imo than this cumbersome item-specific bag system.

I would like to make a simple suggestion to let us lock items we don’t want to loose by, salvaging, selling, auto depositing, or even destroying by mistake.

Not sure how simple or hard this may be to implement, but you make a small locket available on all icons, just like the one u see on unlocked bank tabs or unlocked bag slots but ofc much smaller. By default the little locket would appear unlocked with the little latch sprang open and when u lock an item it would appear locked.

The lock/unlock is done by a default key bind for eg: Shift+L. You simply left click on the item to select it, then first use of Shift+ L locks the item, 2nd use unlocks it. This locking can be done even in the merchant’s interface when u go to sell items. Sometimes you may miss locking something important and see it there, you should be able to lock it in the same way just by selecting it.

The locked items always remain locked and they can be used as normal except: They cannot be sold, salvaged, merched. destroyed or auto deposited unless you unlock them first.

One of the reasons i’m suggesting this, other than those i mentioned above, is i often have come close to selling my (namely my engi’s and ele’s who don’t have a dual swap) weapons by mistake.
All my characters have invisible bags that i keep at the bottom of my inventory and store all their spare weapons, minis etc in there, always making sure there’s enough space for them. However, in case of those 2 classes, when switching from a 1H and off hand weapon to a 2H one, the off hand never gets put back into invisible bag. It always gets thrown to a first available storage slot in ur inventory and gets mixed up with rest of the stuff there.

Locking off all your valuables would prevent any concerns of selling these items or w/ever and keep them safe until u manually unlock them.

Please discuss, agree/disagree or whatever.

First off I understand the whole ‘bonding with my character’ thing. My main not just a few pixels on the screen for me, she is her own character with a backstory. She isnt real, but thats not to say she isnt important to me.

As for your suggestion I disagree that a conversion is even needed. Reroll another character using the same name and looks etc and think of it as a rebirth of your main. Make up some story in your head that your main got injured during battle and couldnt be saved, but Asuran technology put him/her into another similar body. Give the new character some differences in appearance, saying the process isnt perfect.

The new character isnt actually new, its a new beginning for your main. Think of it in that way and youll realise that you arent losing a character, youre merely taking it down a different path. Its all about using your imagination

Thank you, I think I will try this
Just a question, is there a way to transfer items to different characters? I spent my heroic edition items on this, and I don’t want to lose it.(also crafting things)
because I can’t seem to mail items to myself.

If u purchased a particular edition that offers any kind of bonuses, those are usually account based and any character you create will get them automatically as well. They should be added to your inventory as soon as you make them.
I purchased the Deluxe digital that offered a mini, hero ring, a 1 week banker etc and all my characters get those upon creation. so i think you will too. Best thing is to try it and see what happens.
And like others have said, u can transmute gear u want to transfer onto whites but if they’re soul bound, make sure u keep the old character they’re bound to and use it to transmute gear b4 u delete it and also make sure u empty all their bags into the bank etc.
If you put anything into the bank that’s still bound to the old character, you will not be able to withdraw it or do anything with it so yea, just make sure all that is tidied up. Like i said, if you have a spare char slot, best thing is to keep the old one for a while to make sure u got everything out of them that you want.

New Pets for Rangers

One of my biggest disappointments with HoM pets, is they didn’t give us Rainbow Phoenix!
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Rainbow_Pheonix

That bird was hard to unlock and i earned it and it’s just roaming all alone in HoM in gw1.
For those like me who earned 50/50 and if they unlocked this pet, they should have been given it for gw2 imo. Now that would have been a true reward for achieving 50/50. I mean the titles are nice but who looks at ur titles in gw2? the pet would be there for all to see, yes i worked my butt off in gw1 to get this and here it is.

I really hope when they unlock the far Shiverpeaks, they will give us those, or at least give as a quest to get it.

P.S. I agree we need for pets to progress from juvenile to adults. I don’t necessarily want gw1 pet lvling system but something that makes ur pet grow naturally. Perhaps if the pet fights along side you, the more hours it does the more it grows? Or something along the lines. It does seem rather silly and unrealistic that ur pet stays juvenile forever more.

Panic! I posted a thread a while back asking…no begging….for this elite mesmer skill to be brought over from gw1. I used to love running Panic mesmer especially in DoA where u had massive amounts of mobs to deal with and seeing them all with the ! above their heads lol. it was the funnest skill ever!

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Panic

The other skills i really liked was Asuran Pain Inverter, simply bc all classes could use it, incl ur heroes, and Searing Flames for my ele. Meteor shower wasn’t bad in some situations as it knocked down all the foes as well as burnt them but the long casting of it had limited use.
Ah the good old days hehe.

New Holiday Minis

Srry for being stroppy, but this business with the minis really frustrated me today. Anyway, tnx for the explanation, but i haven’t seen any info on having to craft the mini Doylak. Where did u see that?

It would help if there was an explanation in the actual gem store on these items stating special requirements are needed. Instead, we get a 1-liner…pack of 3 minis and no explanation about them.

Btw, where do u get these ugly sweaters? wouldn’t those things be only available after the patch is up? and i’ve already seen ppl with the doylak. I guess it’s possible these ppl have kept them from last year? or am i missing something?

In any case, i think it’s horrible having to destroy ur other 3 minis to craft the doylak. it’s rather cruel imo. They could have just included it in the pack. that would have been much nicer and more humane.

As far as minis not swimming, i only found these latest ones not being able to. Although i’ve had my other minis occasionally disappear when entering water, or using wp’s but most of the time they work ok.

It’s sad that it has become standard now, every patch ruins something along the way. This is not exclusive to gw2 either. I see it in other MMO’s as well. All i can say, I’d hate to be a code programmer. It must be an awful job.

New Holiday Minis

I just bought the new 3 pack minis.

First disappointment, i was expecting a dolyak calf, u know the one that has the biggest picture on the gem shop. I didn’t get it. Had i known this was RNG based i wouldn’t have spent my gems on it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 3 minis i got, the arctic fox, the fawn and the puppy….all cute, but i thought i would get the doylak. I didn’t get what i was expecting.

2nd disappointment (and i hope this is a bug that will get fixed asap) is that the new minis vanish when u go underwater. One of the few redeeming things i enjoy about minis is that they swim with me, as i spend fair amount of time underwater. if this is a bug plz fix it, if this is intended plz state that on this thread, so i know what is going on and if it is intended then i will be requesting a refund.

Thanks

Strange sound when gathering toxic spores

Today i noticed these strange noises while gathering toxic spores. I’ve narrowed it down to the spores by testing it with a friend and it don’t matter if u use perma tools or normal ones. The noise sounds like a pirate gun firing off each time u gather a spore.

Another strange noise i noticed right from the start of this current LS update, is that sharks make bird-like noise when fighting. I’m sure this was not intended and it sound rather disconcerting and totally inappropriate as sharks don’t make noises and until this update they were always silent.

I love how this thread is current at the same time as another one lamenting how few people there are in mid-level areas.

Well i visit lots of maps and sometimes run into ppl chasing mats, just like me. There’s rarely time for events these days, unless they offer dragonite ore lol, even though i myself would like to do them and often get caught up in an odd one here and there. So yea, ppl don’t stick around these maps for long and it would be easy to miss them.

I appreciate all your suggestions, but I don’t want you to miss the point here.

I realise there are other ways of getting mats and i do get them that way as well and sometimes even buy them if i’m short, but its never enough and one shouldn’t have to resort to, or rely on these methods as a “better” or more efficient way of getting these mats, as opposed to gathering them. As it is, i’m tired of all the clicking to salvage items, its getting so tedious i’m literally falling asleep half the time i play gw2 these days.

I have 9 chars, they’re all my main, i never leave any of my chars behind they’re all equal in my eyes and i wanted to craft them all at least one ascended weap, the one they use the most and then think about the 2nd set but i can see i’m gonna give up gw2 before that’s ever achieved.

IMO, if you go and introduce recipes into the game that require insane amount of mats, then you have to balance it out. Reduce the refining requirements, or ensure there are enough nodes in the relevant maps to satisfy those needs, without forcing people to spend all their gameplay chasing these mats over multiple maps day in and day out.

I can for eg traverse 1/3 of a map and not see a single node of wood or iron. Why so spread out? and why so sparse? Other times i’ll go into a map where should be iron but i find 70-80% of the nodes are silver.

Don’t get me wrong, I normally enjoy gathering and crafting and found it relaxing in most part, but since this ascended stuff, it’s actually becoming a pain and i’m starting to hate it. I’m also dreading ascended armor and not sure if i’m even going to bother with it, coz that’s gonna be even worse with RNG leather, omg! I pray the 6 will sway me from this path!

Harvesting isn’t the only way to get iron and wood. In fact there are much faster and easier ways to obtain them. Maybe look in to those before asking the game be changed to suit your gaming behavior.

Ugh Oh! U mean buy it? or bot it? No thanks. I spent $100’s of RL money to buy full sets of permanent gathering tools for all 9 of my char, why should i have to spend money now on buying those mats?

Think harder. You’ll eventually get it. It’s entirely legit and has been in the game since release. I’m surprised at your bluntness when I see not one, but two people that tried to help you here.

I don’t need your, or other players help to mine iron/wood, i need Anet to fix the problem, but tnx for your input.

You’re also forgetting about salvaging, which can produce a great deal more raw material than gathering and in a shorter amount of time. You get more than luck from all those blues and greens, ya know.

I’m forgetting nothing. I salvage plenty, but still get very little if any soft wood out of it or even iron for that matter.

I’m seriously getting frustrated with these 2 materials for ascended crafting. Others are bad enough, but these 2 I just can’t get enough of just to even level my crafting. And no wonder, x3 chunks of iron to make iron ingot and same for steel. To make 1 ascended component you need 20 iron ingots + 10 steel (among others) which = 90 iron chunks for just 1 component.

I can scour entire map and not find half that amount of iron and soft wood is even worse x 4 logs to make 1 plank! And you need 20 planks to make 1 component that’s 80 logs of soft wood! At the same time, soft wood is even scarcer than iron. I can go through entire Diessa Plateau and be lucky to get 30 logs of soft wood, which can take well over an hour. It’s really getting on my nerves and it’s so boring to keep hunting for these mats aside form others.

Plz reduce the requirement. Make iron & steel ingots only needing 2 chunks and same for soft wood, or at least dramatically increase the nodes available in places like Gandarran Fields and other maps where these materials appear. Even more frustrating is that i often find ore nodes are placed where they,re unreachable or very difficult to get to, making u waste even more time.

Thanks for listening.

PS. I also meant to add: please reduce the amount of walnut from soft wood, getting sick of it. I got stacks of this stuff, its totally worthless. it seems no one wants to use walnut for anything and its reducing the amount of wood u get form the trees, as instead of a log i get walnut!

code = 5:11:3:159:101 for 1 character......

i just started getting this error today.

I went into the tower, got into overflow then got offered a travel to my server, thats when the disconnects started to happen.

So i tried logging one of my other chars that were located in divinity reach and no problem with that, logged them in fine.

So i tried to log in my char in the tower again and it worked, but i got put in overflow again. a short while later i get offered again to travel to my server and same thing happened. got dc and got that error message.

i’ve repeated the above steps several times now and yep, same thing occurs every time.

for some reason, once ur in overflow in the tower, it won’t connect you to the main server ur on.

Please do something about fixing this asap, i got 2 chars stuck in there now due to this problem.

next time i can log into the tower, i’ll just stay in overflow but i fear i’ll end up in there alone.

Thanksgiving Holiday update?

FlamingFoxx is right, even if it does come across as slightly rude.

You can’t cater to only one culture. Like was said, Thanksgiving is an American holiday. If you make a whole holiday in game for it, then you’d have to do the same for other cultures as well to be fair. It’s like saying why don’t we make an event for the Qingming Festival (my apologizes if I spelt that wrong)? Because it isn’t a shared holiday amongst all cultures.

GW2 is a worldwide game. As much as other cultures would like to have their special holidays in game, Anet has to limit it to shared holidays or Krytan holidays to be fair. Otherwise, there would be events going off almost every day for everyone’s holidays and it would be chaos.

Hmm i thought Halloween was purely an American holiday, yet we’ve had 1 month worth of it. I know some places have taken up the idea as well but as far as i know it’s an American thing.

Have to agree, though not the biggest fan of JP’s in general, this was done well and i enjoyed, even more so doing it with a friend.

Great work, credit to the designer.
