downed state is fine, UNLIMITED RALLY IS NOT
Unlimited rally? last time that happened i just rally’ed 5 times after that went directly to defeated state.
He means that an unlimited number of downed players can rally from just one enemy player dying.
I wish my class had a limitless AoE CC like this
Oh crap. GW2 is dying AGAIN???
Showing the ranks is counterproductive to a friendly and helpful player environment.
Sounds like a cliche but it’s true.
Then why show APs in PvE? They even have Achievement Point leaderboards!
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was removed one of these days. For the same reasons. I guess Anet didn’t see it as big as problem as the rank flaming in sPvP, at least not yet.
At the moment it’s probably most profitable to open the bags with a level ~52 character due to Linen prices.

Seriously? Cos I have a huge shortage of these.
They are needed for legendaries and most MF weapons.
A bit more than 1 silver apiece on the TP with 377k supply.

Not sure how you can have a shortage on these…
If I have to buy them means I don’t have enough of them.
So yes it is a shortage in my own playstyle. If that’s how you play the game you probably have a shortage of a lot of things. Farming certain stuff in this game rarely works very well. The TP is the answer.
Thanks for the advice but I don’t play TP.
Nor do I farm.
I will have a huge shortage of everything but the problem will go away once I log off.
I didn’t mean “playing” the TP. I meant playing the game how you want and buying the stuff you need from TP, while selling stuff you have excess of on the TP. Not using the TP at all would be just plain dumb in this game.
Wow at people in this thread desperately trying to justify their cowardice.
If you engage a 1v1 and then you run away, you’re a coward. Period. Fight and die like a man.
I recently had this warrior that saw me with like 30% hp left and decided to attack me, thinking I was an easy kill. After 30 seconds of battle I was back to full health, while he was dropped to like 20%, when he decided to flee. I /laughed so hard at him.
I’ll choose smart and alive over brave and dead any day. If I don’t mind getting a trip back to spawn I might stay in a losing battle. Other than that, it’s just plain stupid to remain in a fight which you obviously cannot win.
Seriously if you’re so worked up about people running from you in 1v1, play sPvP. At least you’ll get the cap point then.

RPG in computer games doesn’t mean playing a role anymore. It means stats on your character that improve when you play the game.
Most younger players don’t even know where the Role Playing Game comes from and what PnP games are.
9/10 times…? You have a 50% winrate… and have never been top 1k in solo Q…
…but thanks anyway.
We all know you’re a good player Lux. No need to be such a large kitten. He wants to help newer players do better and I give him props like that. Elitist flamers such as yourself are just hurting the community. Instead of talking so much kitten on the forums, why don’t you just play the godkitten game and leave the people who want to make a difference alone.
This isn’t so much a guide as it is someone indirectly ranting about the awful players and their awful strategies in solo Q.
“Strategy” as a word implies planning, even awful strategy requires planning. Most of the time there is absolutely zero planning and thus, zero strategy
Yes, corrected it. Couldn’t you have read this after I edited it…?
Now where would the fun be in that? :P
Lol that LLama finisher is awesome and SO embarrassing
I’m just waiting when we will get the teabag finisher.
The 6/6 effect is likely the base duration. Since it can’t account for possible other duration effects you might have from other sources, it would be more confusing to have the duration from the rune set already baked in, but ignore other duration effects.
So in your example, it would be 5.2 sec burn/bleed from the runeset alone, plus whatever other extra duration you have.
You need more math lessons. Other than that, I think you’re right.
There is never, ever any reason for anyone to stay in the spawn for more than 10 seconds after respawn if they’re actually playing in the round.
Uh, restroom?
Oh please. If you can’t hold it for the ~10 minutes it takes to finish the round you’ve got MUCH worse problems than the dishonor debuff.
T6 farming by killing mobs is ridiculously slow. Go kill champs, it’s much faster.
Also voting that the amount of silk bolts for the weaving thread should be dropped to 50.
That would probably rise the price on the other cloth even further, though.

Counter argument: Remove hard-revives from WvW.
Being downed is a central mechanic to Guild Wars 2 due to the lack of resurrection abilities and dedicated healers. To remove this is to remove a core function of the game. However (and this has been argued for a very long time here on the forums), the revival from defeated state would discourage zerging and promote more tactical play.
If players were not allowed to revive their dead teammates, a zerg would be forced to take less risks and not plow headlong into another zerg or arrow cart storm. They could no longer stop to instantly revive their defeated team mates and continue plowing along. Casualties would be a real thing, giving smaller, more coordinated groups, an advantage over sheer numbers.
Well to be honest in most cases any defeated players will be able to get back into the fight by WPing almost as fast as they are revived after the fight. The maps are just too small to allow any profound strategy regarding troop movement. This is something that TESO does a lot better. Map is bigger and disrupting reinforcements is a viable tactic – at least until everyone and their mother will be carrying x+1 tents.
Personally I think GW2 soundtrack is so awesome I wouldn’t even consider replacing it with my own choices, but I can understand some people want choice.
yes please! would be much easier to lock on all the minion spammers in pvp. also making [tab] lock on player before pets/minions would be nice…
It already does that…
I would NEVER go into wvw without my trusty GS, or at least a 1h sword.
That would be indeed suicide. Without GS mobility you’re as good as dead.
Not if you’re with a zerg or skill group
Even then you’re at a huge risk unless you keep a very close eye to your surroundings all the time. One wrong move when the zergs shift and you’re toast.

That’s probably the most important skill in ZvZ fights, yes. I just like to have that “oh crap” button to get out when I notice I’ve overextended a bit. Gives me chance to take some risks, too when I really want to finish that pesky thief.
I’ve suggested before. 10 seconds in the spawn and you get kicked for AFK. Move or not. You respawn, you get out of the spawn ASAP or you get kicked. Simple as that. There is never, ever any reason for anyone to stay in the spawn for more than 10 seconds after respawn if they’re actually playing in the round.
Sitting with a bunker build on close point for the whole game is so boring most just don’t do it in solo games. And why bother anyway? It’s an imbalanced mess with horrible matchmaking so just go in, have some fun, win or lose.
In one of my soloQ games 2 days ago, all four of my teammates went to cap close and all stayed there until it was capped.
I’m not kidding!
I also hate the NPC crap that’s been plaguing PvP lately. IMO all pet classes should be just deleted from all MMOs, but that’s just my opinion. I can live fighting them, most of the time.
If you’ve got a ton of skillpoints to spare, you can use them to craft mystic weapons at the mystic forge.
Using your skillpoints to do that is a very poor return of money for the skillpoints. There are far more profitable ways to spend your skillpoints if you want to turn them into money.
Usually sell in TP directly to get best return, sadly.
Also, if trying to be fast in a GSWarrior, turn Autotargeting OFF or skill 5 will ram you into random yellow mobs for no reason at all.
Since we’re probably talking about PvP, switching autotargeting off should be the first thing you do, no matter what profession or build you’re playing.
OR they could just remove the AoE cap and upgrade their engine/servers to be able to handle the load. That would remove all stacking overnight.
And simultaneously lead to the nerf of staff elementalists. Meteor Shower/storm/whatever the hell it is, is the single most damaging spell in the game, and it can already take out a lot of people WITH the 5 person limit due to the sheer number of individual hits within the skill. God help whoever is in the way of an ele if there was no cap.
But that’s exactly what I was after. Force people to spread out. Sure a change like this would bring also damage changes to AoE abilities, but the final result would still be the end of stacking and the possibility to create deadly chokepoints without siege equipment. Obviously might also need some redesigning of the WvW maps, especially EotM.
Anyhow after the AoE cap would be removed, people could only blame themselves for piling up in a ridiculous zerg ball. Battles would also spread over much more ground. In my opinion that would be a positive thing.
I’ll try your build again. I think it still lacks in Adrenaline generation, but we’ll see. I didn’t do that bad with the Burst Mastery build either, but as I said conditanks were a slight problem.
Player’s models collision could fix all of the brainless “stack” meta in PvE and WvW and add strategy and tactic into this game. I would guess, however, that GW2 engine couldn’t handle it.
Sure, and then you’d have people in WvW and PvE with nothing better to do than to block your ability to leave locations and deprive you of your experience. It would not be hard for someone to organize enough people to block off 2 other teams in EotM and just rake in the points for 3 hours. You wouldnt be able to report it because they’re just sitting there not doing anything inherently “bad.”
EotM does have a bit too many chokepoints, that’s true. However, you could implement a “push” mechanic where the player who actively tries to move in one direction would push back the one that is just passively standing there. Would at least make sure no AFKers near cliffs
Another method would be to be able to “push past” friendlies, with slower movement, but without either of the toons actually shifting position laterally.
But yeah obviously friendly CD would open it up to massive griefing and that’s probably something ANet does not want to happen.
OR they could just remove the AoE cap and upgrade their engine/servers to be able to handle the load. That would remove all stacking overnight.
Awesome guide. Now if someone would just put up a “noob” guide with the bare basics then we’d have the first stepping stone, too. I’m too tired explaining to ppl that bringing more ppl to a cap point doesn’t cap it any faster.
What part “You use it to craft terminal gear” makes you think it would be worthless?
Still: No. The entire point of the system is to require you get out and PLAY THE GAME rather than just buy your way to all pink gear.
And still for armor for example it takes a lot, lot more grinding to get the rest of the materials to build them. But point taken and valid.
I just wishing obtaining the ascended mats would be the majority of work crafting the ascended gear, and not just a speedbump on the real grind.
I find it more weird that we’re only cutting down the saplings and not the grown-up trees. I think a few of foresters might have a word with whoever thought about that.
Collision Detection is indeed the holy grail of PvP MMOs. Alas, it doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
WAR had it, and it did eventually work pretty ok. Too bad the rest of the game was pretty half-baked.
Warriors are supposed to be warriors, to see them flee faster than thieves is just an insult to the class they are playing.
Alright. Then let us warriors have any fair chance of beating conditank necros and we will stick to the fight.
After all, we ARE warriors. We should be able to cleave your puny silk-clad weakling body into two with one swing of our man-sized greatswords.
Great argument there, bro
What about 1v1 that none is winning? My staff ele met a guardian neither of our hp went below 25% in 5-10 minutes. Then both used /laugh and ran our separate ways.
TBH if you really were roamers looking for a fight you both chose a rotten spec to fight with Bunker roamers are not the hottest stuff out there.
What is your opinion on people that flee a fair duel once they realize they will lose? thieves and mesmers vanishing and warriors flying away are probably the main culprits here.
I solo roam a lot and I see a lot of people not just fleeing the duel once they start losing, but trying to aggro guards or even bring their friends into a 1vs1 duel.
All is fair in love and pvp, or is it cowardly?
What’s your opinion on condition-meta specced solo roamers that are otherwise completely useless to their server, but like to target and single out group-play specced folks running back to their guild / zerg?
I call that a valid tactic to keep them from adding their numbers to the zerg. It’s not exactly useless either, although probably not the most useful tactic.
I would like to see auto kick (with dishonor) if you’re not out of your spawn in 10 seconds after respawn. Would solve AFKers.
I would like to see shorter warmup period with dishonor if you don’t join the game within the set period. Would solve most of 4v5 matches.
That Elementalist never died! NERF
That’s only because elementalists tend to be better players since they’ve had to deal with being the underdog and still deal with complicated mechanics and rotations. All that a necro, warrior or thief ever does 80% of the time is auto attack and dodge…. or run away.
Yeah when you look at the finals you can clearly see that’s all their warriors and thieves are doing.
Just 2 days ago i won 7 matches out of 8 with my guild members while we were trying new rotations on points, and i thought “ho man we should have joined the tournament” and then i see the match…
i’m so glad i didn’t subscribed my team in the tournament lol, this guys are out of the world..
You should have joined. A lot of the original 64 teams probably were just “trying their luck”. Obviously with bad luck you would have been paired with one of the more “pro” teams on round one and get stomped, but hey that’s life
I would NEVER go into wvw without my trusty GS, or at least a 1h sword.

Gimmick map is gimmicky. I would usually say it should be removed but we already have too few viable sPvP maps to begin with…
As time goes on, they will get better. You’ll start seeing it in the coming weeks…the same people that would stand on a point with 3 people already on it will be much more skilled and aware of the intricacies of PvP
Yeah and I don’t think any amount of tutorials or advice will help those people.
I’ve resorted to being a lowlife and calling them to kitten off in “/say” when I see them coming to an empty point I’ve already decapped.
Old news. With this analogy GW2 has always been P2W.
Buy gold with gems → buy runes → win.
So fleeing from 1vs1 situations that you start losing or calling your friends to Xvs1 them is ok as long as no one /bowed. Fair enough.
Well basically yes. If you like 1v1 I recommend the arena in Obsidian Sanctum. People there usually honor duels and don’t stomp (so duels are to downed, not defeated).
Just be prepared for a much tougher opposition than your average WvW roamer. Dueling is what the ppl on the arena do and some of them are very good at it
In few days of casual EotM karma-training I got over 100 wvw ranks, like 5k badges and metric crapton of loot, bags, gold.
TBH I was quite happy with it but after few days I felt like exploiting the mechanics of the game. Sad think is that most people in EotM do not even want to engage the enemy unless is it a coincidence.
One day you will wake up in the morning and realize running the karma train is boring as hell and you don’t have the will to even start up GW2 anymore.
While if instead of that you would have been engaging in good PvP fights you’d be craving more every morning
Your choice, of course. Virtual loot versus enjoyment of the game.
