Nobody knows but ANet, and they’re not sharing.
Just wait and see.
To be honest, my charr has an infinite toy soldier tonic just for jumping puzzles. It’s sometimes a pain to do some stuff in caves. Especially the one in lions arch where you go down the sewers first it a pain in the kitten
God kitten why did I not think of this. Thank you!
That’s how it should have been right from the beginning. Unfortunately it’s too late now.
One screenshoot to beat them all!
Eb reached a top of 305 last time i saw. Gandara border i think hit 200 at some point
Lol. No wonder your ppl were trolling hard in OS
Not really, after they added EotM, queue indicators and put OS in a separate map. There remains no incentive to move onto a low pop server.
It’s more likely they would ADD some sort of cost to 2 handed weapons since they are getting an extra Sigil slot in a few weeks.
Ugh… Don’t give them any ideas…
GW2 is CPU-bound as mentioned before. If you want my advice, wait for the new Haswell K-sku refreshes coming out in Q3. They are rumoured to have great overclocking capability and able to run @ 5Ghz on air.
i5 will do just fine, the hyperthreading and slightly larger cache of the i7 won’t do you any good for GW2.
Wrong youtube link for this thread. Here’s the correct one:
Not me, but I can understand some would.
I recommend tweaking your graphics setting so that you will get a steady FPS, be it 60 FPS or 30 FPS. What I’ve heard from people who get motion sickness from games they usually have it worse when the FPS goes up and down a lot.
Part of the development process is prioritization, so I’d like to know what you feel are the highest impact items you think would improve our storytelling delivery. What are your top three requests?
These are pretty much already implemented, but I’m voicing them anyhow:
1. Using the game engine without cutscenes for dialog. I love seeing the characters chat in the open, without the need for marionette shows.
2. Making the story about NPCs with the character being the lead support. There is no other way to make it work realistically in an MMO.
3. Find a way to make the content permanent as often as possible. If you introduce a new zone, make it interesting enough so that the players will keep coming back – see Orr zones and FGS versus Southsun, for example.
Oh look it’s this thread again.
There is no such thing as OS etiquette. Get over it. I just got camped and killed by Gandarans in the arena. kitten happens.
Can’t really blame them either. They must have horrible queues to the other WvW areas and EotM gets boring pretty quickly.
Now I’ll see if I can rally enough people to break through and return the favor.
Are you serious that someone has ever upped their gameplay because of repair costs? Those few silver coins?
This will have exactly zero impact on Level 80 characters. The baddies will still be lying flat on their back and the good ones will still be pulling their weight.
I guess some players are not happy with anything.
What should they have done? Craft one ascended item and automatically gain the rest of them free?
I’m even more interested what “A Solid Foundation” might be about. There’s a tiny, overly optimistic part of me that hopes it might be about Housing … if only
That is almost certainly about better tutorials and the leveling process from 1-30 being cleaned up.
As much as I’d like to think otherwise, you’re probably right.
Not quite equal, but very close.
They used to explain it with that you get two sigil slots with 1 handed weapons. Now with 2-h weapons getting two slots that argument goes out of the window.
I would also love to see the 1H weapons getting reduced material requirements, especially when speaking about Ascended crafting.
I am really disappointed by what I’ve seen revealed thus far. These changes seem to be superficial more than anything. Everything they’ve revealed could have easily been added in a regular monthly, or bi-weekly update. I was really hoping this update was going to have additions and expansion to the already existing core gameplay, not a wardrobe for my skins. There is nothing in this update that will add to or improve the already existing gameplay. Granted I haven’t yet seen what the other features are, but I really doubt that they are anything significant. I am really starting to lose hope for this game… Arenanet you have a great foundation and concept with Guild Wars 2, please start building on it.
One would guess that they would leave the juiciest stuff last?
I for one am hopeful, but then again I’m already happy with a lot of the stuff they’ve shown so far. It can only get better for me from hereon.
The maps only reset when there are no players on the map at all (for a while, I would guess).
And they really reset instantly when you are the last player and leave the zone. Happened often for me when i farmed Iron at late at night that after i relogged to another character suddenly there was a reset.
However in regards of iron this could be nice sometimes, since that also resets the timer from rich veins.
Really? I wonder how long before someone shouts in map chat: “EVERYONE LOG OFF SO WE CAN RESET THE NODES!”
This thread is so full of Epic brainless PvE tears. I’m not a PvPer myself but as said, I respect the winners of this tournament a hundredfold more than any PvE “hero” who has grinded their legendaries running the champ train 24/7.
You who are whining about this prize are pathetic. Truly.
I’m even more interested what “A Solid Foundation” might be about. There’s a tiny, overly optimistic part of me that hopes it might be about Housing … if only
Oh my god, I didn’t even think of that. Now you have me hoping too. :p
I’m hoping for housing/guild halls or client optimization/improvements. Will be happy with either.
The nodes change each day at reset so you the maps need an update very day.
They do change each time there is a reset, but there are no scheduled daily resets for maps.
The maps only reset when there are no players on the map at all (for a while, I would guess).
I remember some time ago they talked about introducing more weapons to every class.
Maybe removing restrictions is a code name for allowing all classes to use every weapon. Aka adding new skills.
That’s wishful thinking. A change of this magnitude would be worth an update of its own.
Some of the artistic cutscenes (the painting-style ones) show quite a bit of blood spraying. Which is why I don’t understand why we don’t have blood splatters otherwise.
That’s weird. I haven’t seen a single gold spammer since maybe 2 months after launch. I guess I should knock on wood.
Yes, so you can’t use them anymore after the patch.
Yes it is there. Equip your headgear and find the checkbox in the slot.
You can do the same for shoulders and gloves, too.
There is a 20-slot fractal box that takes exotic items before anything else, but that won’t help if you are wielding ascended. It’s indeed a problem that should be sorted.
There’s also equipment boxes, but they take looted equipment just as well as unequipped ones.
Check individual maps for their completion info. If they all show 100% then you’re bugged and need to contact customer support.
Also not sure if you guys have noticed but icy runestones and obsidian shards can be bought in stacks of 10 at a time. But still doesn’t stop the fact that I want to buy say 250 in one go without having to click a jillion times.
I noticed this the last time I went to Balthazar. Very nice. 10x less clicking is 10x less clicking.
Also pro tip – when buying multiple items of the same type, click on the item on the list and then click the “BUY” button in the lower right corner. Saves you half the clicks compared to double clicking on the item line.
What do you mean? Because of the racials? For a warrior?
Not worth the trouble.
Crafting is one of the most expensive ways to get exotic gear, so forget about that. Buy the gear from TP or Karma/Dungeon/WvW merchants.
I would be happy with keybind that cycles targets starting from the center of the screen outwards, resetting once you don’t press it for say, 2 seconds.
I am all up for this idea…
… right after they increase the size of each borderland and EB three-fold so that towers are not in range of each others’ siege.
I dare you to find places in the real world where anyone had ever erected two separate fortresses within range of catapults. The whole idea is just ridiculous.
The next real test to WvW comes sooner than you think and it’s called Elder Scrolls Online.
Obviously Zenimax has crippled their offering with a P2P scheme, but the AvA is nevertheless intriguing and in many ways a step up from WvW. And not least by scale.
We’ll see. I like both, but would LOVE a combination of them
considering its going to be much harder to obtain dyes, I say they are going to go up significantly and stay high. Removing dye drops is going to hurt alot.
But the price will also be “moderated” by the Laurel to UID conversion. In effect, their price won’t go above the “best offer” on the Laurel vendor, which currently is 3 T6 mats for 1 laurel (~1,1 gold before fees), capping their price at about 150% of the average T6 mat price per UID.
“hey this game is too grindy… to afford anything nice i need an insane amount of gold” while anything i get Worths nothing…….
And you cannot see the paradox in that statement? If everything on the TP costs a lot, how can “anything you get” be worth nothing?
I think the people kittened off are the ones that used to be swimming in gold in WoW and similar games where they could play the AH themselves (which a trained monkey could do, including me). Now they’re angry because playing the TP in AH in GW2 requires more starting capital and especially more brains and dedication. I admit I don’t have any of those, but I am not jealous to those that do.
If anything, the TP players are playing a much more difficult and risky game than the ones drooling on their keyboard while pressing 1 repeatedly at a world boss.
Well guess there will be a giant jump in prices
What is supply and demand.
Prices will drop. By a lot.
Initially yes, but considering that the supply for new UIDs popping will be pretty non-existent after the patch, the price will climb up eventually.
I agree. If the wardrobe was an April Fool’s joke, I would let my fireplace have my Guild Wars 2 cd.
You should microwave it instead. The lightshow is amazing
Don’t do it with a brand new MW though…
adding me 2cents, if you feel confident, also add Chantry of secret to your rotation (Order of Whisper base), it’s a 1 POI map completion for 3 stones :P
SHHHH!!! Now you’re done it. This “exploit” will be fixed in the next 3 days tops.
Then get together with some people from your server and start updating it.
Any websites like that are as up-to-date as the players who keep them updated. I’ve found that at least for my server the alpha version of http://www.gw2nodes.com/ is pretty accurate most of the time.
Remember to contribute if you find it useful. Report nodes, both correct and incorrect.
I would be very surprised if they didn’t bring another free weekend trial sometime after the April 15th patch is in. Probably not right away, as they are most likely expecting a surge of returning players and need time to iron out any problems in that update – which are bound to be many in such a massive patch.
Eve online has a better “living story” than this game or any theme park game ever could, because the story derives almost entirely from player actions and events.
This is something I’ve been touting for as long as I’ve been playing MMOs (which is about 16 years now). The best stories I’ve ever experienced in MMOs were in Ultima Online, where I crafted those stories together with the other players.
But this is a solid themepark game and it won’t change.
welp, hope a good lesson was learned today for having unrestricted buying and selling power on the tp anet. honestly, you need to make items account bound once purchased from the tp. don’t worry, there are enough people contributing to the bltc that items will find their equilibrium prices.
thanks for reading!
I totally agree stuff bought off the AH shouldn’t be re-listable, I despise the leeches who ‘play the AH’ and live off others’ efforts.
You mean the “leeches” that are this game’s only source of a real gold sink? You think the prices are expensive right now? Think again.
Pvers receive stats and skins while pvp-ers receive items without stats, that’s why it was free. There was no swapping skins and no transmutation. I’m not sure why it is hard to understand. Anyway, if I won’t like the change I just stop playing this game so you can stop defending this decision.
Oh I do understand it just fine and I do know how the system works in both sides, because I play both.
Guess the bottom line is – if it’s free, enjoy while it lasts.
There was never any transmutation in pvp.
My point exactly. You got to swap skins without any cost, while all the other players had to pay for it. The free ride is over, so it’s time to step out or cough up the dough
I get that you’re worried about increased monetization of the game, but please do realize they have to do it in order to keep the money flowing steadily. With the changes, they have also reduced the demand for Gemstore skins a lot, since you now only have to get them once and can use them over all your characters. They’re also giving us some use for the hoards of transmutation stones lying in our bank, effectively cutting down their income for crystals for some time.
In this case it only happens to hit a part of the player group who have been “freeloaders” previously. I think it’s also safe to assume ANet is looking to more ways to get some more gemstore purchases from the sPvP group.
And again, I don’t see anything controversial there. If anything, it would be controversial that some players would be exempt from any lucrative gemstore purchases while others were not. Can you give me any reason why they should be exempt, other than just “they used to be”? Because that’s not a valid argument for a game that is constantly changing and being developed.
No it isn’t, but the point is you can still play sPvP without playing a penny.
And heavens forbid if you once in a while supported a game you love and cracked open that RL wallet of yours. I know, controversial thought!
It is because it was free for 1.5 years and was supposed to be free. How about monetization of crafting? I’m sure you’d be okay with that since you don’t have to do that at all to enjoy the game you love. You can get ascended items through item drops after all.
“Transmutation” has only been free for the sPvPers. In other parts of the game we’ve already been paying for it. Maybe the real question is why it has been free for sPvP all along?
What do you mean “was supposed to be free”? Can you show me an announcement where ANet has said that transmuting skins in sPvP will be free forever?
And if they monetize other parts of the game I’ll do just the same I recommended to you – pay up or stop playing. It’s not like you need GW2 to live, do you?
So in effect you get free transmutation crystals and you still whine for a refund?
Talk about entitlement…
Be ready to grab those dyes when the market is flooded them on April 15th. After that there can be only one direction for the pricing of UID.
Times change. You’re still free to choose whether to do it or not (or play the game).
In addition, you’re going to earn gold by playing sPvP, which you can use to buy gems to buy those transmutation charges.
If you’re a pure sPvP player effectively nothing changes, unless you absolutely need to change your look every day.
22.5 silver every 15 minutes, that’s a lot of money. And it’s not like gem price conversion is still.
No it isn’t, but the point is you can still play sPvP without playing a penny.
And heavens forbid if you once in a while supported a game you love and cracked open that RL wallet of yours. I know, controversial thought!
