Anet should make them look alot more intimidating to match their superman powers, let people know not to screw around with them or they will step on your head and flatten you.

Absolutely not. Nothing more satisfying than pulling a bunch of karma train noobs to their own mass graves.

I’m looking at you, Gandwagon.

Battle Standard should just rez the NPC to 25% health, right now I think it’s 50% which is too much.

The health doesn’t matter. What does matter is that resurrecting the lord resets the cap timer.

So no, don’t expect it anytime soon.

This isnt necessarily the rule, but changes like this in particular that people have been looking for since day 1 have a tendency not to show up for a long while. Wondering how many people will still be playing by the time they put Guild Halls in GW2.

Well it’s B2P so the day they would put Guild Halls in would be a day when a lot of the players left would return. That’s the beauty of having no sub.

I’ve been over this topic a dozen times and I still think the name is misleading. Yes I know Guild Wars were an event in Tyria’s history, but you can’t name a place Burger King, sell only salad and say Burgers were once upon a time on the menu.

Tom Gore.4035

How much does this cost approximately?

http://www.gw2crafts.net/total.html

I’d try to level in an envoirment you enjoy.
- Do you enjoy WvW? Join an Edge of the Mist zerg (easily nets me a couple a levels a night due to how many events you do.) Or even a good WvW-zerg (less rewarding in my experience, but if you enjoy it, nice!)
- Do you enjoy Dungeons? Set up low-level Dungeon groups with your guild (or do them on your 80 and relog at the end, make sure you didn’t open.) You can try this with PuGs aswell.
- Definitly do the cheap crafts, almost anyone can make 3g quicker than 7 levels, so definitly do cooking, food also can be nice whilst leveling. For me it’s also been worthwhile to do Artificer and Jewelcrafting aswell. The more expensive ones are worth it if you haven’t got them covered yet. Only you can decide when it’s worth it or not. 1-400 gives 7 levels, 400-500 the other 3. Crafting Boosters increase the crafting experience, not the actual experience, but thus reduces the materials needed and thus the price.

If neither of this is your thing, you will be stuck with a mix of Exploration and Personal story I fear. What-ever you do, I do recommend running around to get vital waypoints. Dungeon Entrances, World Bosses, Guild-mission area’s and such. Warrior is one of the fastest classes with perma-swiftness (Warhorn + Signet of Fury, once traited) and loads of ‘Leaps’ (Bull’s Charge (900) Savage Leap (600) Whirlwild Attack (450) and Rush (1200)) making it a worthwhile time-investment for just the XP aswell. Never ignore Mobility, I often sacrifice a few traits, or weapons or utilities to get around quicker. Warrior has the best options in my opinion.

It greatly helps to unlock damage-increasing abilities and trait towards damage to make everything go a bit faster. +10 Power runes (6 different ones) greatly help aswell for that few copper. Remember to use Cheap Food and Oils/Stones for the experience bonus aswell. Rice Balls are 49 Karma for 25x 10 Minutes of food and most low-level Oils/Stones are cheap since people used them to level their craft. +20% experience per kill is worth a few copper, any bonusses they give like power is nice aswell.

I’m leveling my second Warrior currently and I ran 2 set-ups depending on level:
The early levels with points in Strenght until the new Manual. Bulls Charge for Mobility, same as the weapons, Signet with the Arms trait for damage. Since what-ever you do, 50% of the time you’re moving around. (That should not yet have Signet of Fury unlocked, my bad.)
The midlevels Remember to pick up your Banner after combat for Inspire and Sprint. More focussed on Damage than just mobility. I kept a Warhorn if I needed to move around a lot. As you see I sacrficed mobility for more Damage, I felt mobs survived a bit longer and maps got more filled with them. For Edge of the Mist I still ran Sword/Warhorn for the mobility since I wanted a Hammer for Earthshaker in PvP-fights.

Why take Warrior’s Sprint when you have perma swiftness. They don’t stack, do they?

Don’t have to waste time with Warhorn in leveling if you take the sprint. It’s pretty much useless while leveling except the speed boost. Much rather take an OH axe or mace.

If you can’t finish the JP without a portal you don’t deserve the achievement. Plain and simple.

I wouldn’t go that far, specially because there are more characters that have ways to ‘cheat’ their way thru JPs, but i must agree that for Jumping purposes Mesmer’s Portal is OP.

There are a few spots where you can take a nice shortcut with warrior sword #2, engineer gun jump etc. Mesmer Portal however doesn’t help the mesmer him/herself at all.

It’s a challenging JP before you get the routine up, but it’s also very forgiving since you can’t really die unless killed by another player and there are “checkpoints” where you cannot lose progress without dying.

My bottom line is, without player interference this JP is quite doable with some practice and patience. There should be zero reason for anyone to “cheat” through it. Of course, some people still do because they feel they deserve the achievement when they really don’t. Entitlement is the word of the day in MMOs.

Not so Legendary Weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tom Gore.4035

You are both missing the point completely.

How can we acquire prec’s currently?

1. Random drop (insane odds)
2. Gamble and sacrifice time and gold into Mystic Forge (insane odds)
3. REAL MONEY (I’m not broke. But I’m also not interested in buying virtual currency for items that affect performance in-game. I have bought 3 skin sets with $$$, black lion keys, and a booster with $$$.
4. GRIND the ANTI-FUN boss chains in FG/QD, GRIND events over multiple servers for peanuts, or GRIND on the TB with a lot of time and marginal profit.

You guys really think this is a GOOD SYSTEM? You think it’s LEGENDARY?

Do you think it’s fun?

You still didn’t give any alternative for acquiring a legendary. ANet will probably not lessen the time required to get one at any point, so any suggestions for getting a legendary by playing casually for a few months are not viable. Not going to happen.

The second alternative would be to introduce extremely hard HC content that only a small percentage of the players are good enough to complete. ’Lo and behold! Legendary sPvP tournament with 5 legendaries given to the best of the best.

Is that what you’d like instead? Removing the grind and putting the legendary behind some insanely difficult content that you would have a snowball’s chance in hell completing?

I know a lot of people would like the second option, but you should know that it would incur a crapstorm of epic proportions. Were you there when Liandri was up? The whining was incredible, as most players just didn’t have the skills and/or dedication to finish that. Myself included (but I didn’t whine about it).

So what would be your solution keeping in mind that

1. The time required is not likely to be shortened.

2. Too hard content would alienate an even larger playerbase than long grind does.

Tom Gore.4035

Tom, do you think it is in Anets best interest, or my best interest, to do something I hate repeatedly for an insane amount of time, and in a perverted way (server hopping, key farming, boss trains) to get something that I need/want? Do you think that this grind in a game that is not supposed to be about grinding, and farming in a game that is supposed to be the solution to that style, is legendary? Is it fun? Is it worth it?

1. You don’t need a legendary weapon.

2. It’s their best interest to keep you playing. That way they can hope you spend money on the game. I know many people who have claimed “I won” after crafting a legendary and then quit playing.

3. The only person who can answer your last question is yourself. See #1 and think about it really hard.

[Suggestion] Blinding the Dead in WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Tom Gore.4035

Tom Gore.4035

It seems to me to be a rather strange idea that after one dies, they can still see their surroundings, effectively acting as a scout for as long as they choose (as long as they interact with their equipped items). It does not matter in PvE, as the mobs aren’t competing against the users, but in WvW, it seems as if it is an oversight that allows for dead players to spy on enemy numbers as long as they don’t respawn.

Why not blacken the screen to give them no field of vision? They can still be resurrected by others, and they can still see their own location via the map, but they can’t see enemy numbers/objectives/etc (except for their downed on the map).

I doubt there’ll be a change to this, but I thought I’d put the idea out there for discussion/contemplation.

There is no need to mess with the screen at all.Aion had a great system for this tbh, they removed the ability to use the chat when you died..all you could do is lay there and watch.

Yes because using the in-game chat is both the only and most effective communication method in WvW…

So they should do everything with TS in the back of their minds ? And even with TS in their minds players jump in other servers TS to spy for their own server, wich also happens quite alot and a black screen still wouldnt do or fix a thing to prevent that either.Spying will keep on happening no matter if they blacken the screen,no matter if they disable the chat.I just think a disable chat option would be more attractive then being greeted by a black screen,or a screen so messed up that you cant see a thing. In that case, maybe a timer on how long you can lay death before being ported automatically to Spawn or the closest wp would be more helpful.

I think black screen would be more attractive than not being able to chat, because I like to comment my death / the battle / the weather to my guildmates etc.

So which one of us is right?

That’s right, neither. So maybe just leave it as is. As you said yourself, any means they use can be circumvented anyway (although I would argue circumventing the black screen would require much more hassle than circumventing the chat block).

Should silver doubloons be this high?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Tom Gore.4035

Tom Gore.4035

Enemies that drop bags containing them? Those bags are rather frequent. Made a killing farming dredge.

It’s the consequence of having silver doubloons drop at a rate that is barely adequate to supply those who want a Juggernaut. There is no really good way to farm them and the zones where they drop aren’t played in that much. The price is that high because the market can bear it, but I doubt the devs foresaw the drop rate being so low.

I farmed 110 light miners bags to do drop rate research for the wiki and got one silver doubloon. I would be surprised if people could consistently farm at a rate greater than 2 an hour given that bags drop from about one dredge in four. Not many people would be prepared to put in the time farming required to make a serious dent in the number of doubloons needed for the Juggernaut.

But that was only half my point. The second tier zones are hardly ever played, partly because there aren’t any world bosses there. Even with Gendarran Fields being the new hub my world pretty consistently had the dredge stolen supplies quest unfinished. As a consequence silver doubloons aren’t being provided by random adventurers and the price for doubloons is being pushed up by people like me who would rather gain a doubloon by running a dungeon and buying it off the TP rather than killing 400 dredge.

I farmed over 27k light miners bags on the tp to do some research on my own and my droprate of silver doubloons is quite different than your 0.91%.

Can you share your findings?

Anyone can figure out how to balance what they have and budget for what they want whether it is RL or for something in the virtual world. If you are that destitute you should not be playing this game but should be playing the game of RL instead.

I’d take it even further with a statement that if spending 10-20 bucks a month on a videogame needs “balancing” in your budget you should definitely not play a videogame.

Anyhow, I still find it very hard to believe that a teenager would have more money to spend on videogames than a grown up adult with a job. What they do have is more time, and in this game the more time you have, the less you’re likely to spend on the cash shop.

The reason we have this image in our heads that “only kids spend money on videogames” is because we live in a world where the majority of people at or nearing middle-age (i.e. the folks who actually have money to spend) are not playing videogames. That is about to radically change in 10-20 years. Already the average gamer is 30+. In 10 years I bet it will be 35+ and in 20 years it will be closer to 40. We who have started playing when we were young are not going to stop playing, most of us won’t anyway.

So I stand behind my statement. Catering to teenagers is a business suicide. Smart money is on offering shortcuts and convenience to the 30+ gamers who have too little time and too much money on their hands.
