Staying in topic, I think getting a precursor drop for the first time and seeing it’s one of those would probably break my heart.
Yeah try killing a ranger 1v1 underwater
Speed buffs don’t stack, so only the highest apply.
Swiftness does stack duration, though.
Facepalm…

You should probably check on other classes skills and mechanics before calling hackers.
I can’t see anyone but an AFKer defending AFKers. Shame on you!
I still have yet to obtain any dragonite from such chests, however, I did get 10 dragonite from one of the bosses you fight underground. Doesn’t seem like a good way to get dragonite like everyone was saying…
That’s weird. Since Silverwastes I’ve been swimming in Dragonite (and Empyreal and Bloodstone). Haven’t really checked where all those come from but I’m pretty sure a lot of them come from the lost bandit chests. I’ve probably opened around 150 so far.
Yup I was right:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lost_Bandit_Chest
You’ve either been very unlucky or haven’t opened too many chests yet. Did you know whenever a chest is uncovered it “pings” the map for all players?
But it could obviously be the Inquest, although no one would be surprised at that “betrayal”
The only thing that bothers me is…. I wish there was more transparency behind the fluctuation of gem prices, and I feel that I don’t fully understand how gems can increase in value constantly if gems are constantly being introduced into the game through irl-cash conversion.
That’s easy. There is more and more gold in the game, so more and more gems are bought with gold than gold with gems. It’s called inflation.
Think about it, if the ratio was like it was in the beginning no one would be buying gems with cash anymore, since they could buy everything they want from the gemstore for just a few gold coins.
1) No sub.
While my financial situation would not budge much from 10-15€ per month, it’s more of a psychological thing. I like to be able to spend when I want, on what I want. And I have, probably more than 300€ total so far on the box and gems.
2) Combat is fun.
Safe to say GW2 has spoiled pretty much all traditional tabtarget games for me (I’m looking at you, WoW).
3) Big, beautiful world.
I just wish we would get more zones like the original ones. Best map design ever in an MMO.
Too bad you can’t see any identifying data about enemies so Anet can probably never know who it was…
At first I thought it was just really bad lag, as he didn’t even shoot back and I thought he was running from you, but that wouldn’t explain all the sudden movements, even considering Lightning Reflexes and Swoop.
Remove xp from wvw and add tomes for badges!
I didn’t think you could solve this problem with just 9 words, but there you have it. I have nothing to add to this solution.
Yeah, but these guys use a botting program to move them around a bit every now and then. One more reason to report them for botting.
I found the problem with the meta build was just taking hits from the chargers. I want to be able to survive them mostly.
Slot in an immob, chill or cripple and hit the teragriff as its about to charge. Problem solved. With a sword you can just go up to them and slash away with #1 and they’ll never get to charge at all.
When the stars align and I can actually hit a decent Thief with a final thrust, I better get some sort of pay-off.
That video would reach a million views on YouTube in a month.
We’re seriously being accused by thieves that we hit too hard, now?
it’s going to get to the point that maps are full and can’t reach breach.
If you’re willing to put in the effort, it will always be possible to push a breach regardless of how many people there are. I’ve done it entirely solo by rotating through 2 forts at a time, capturing them, defending them once and letting them fail. Since doing this is only worth 1-3% progress, it’ll take around a few hours and is simply a waste of time. What makes it worse is that I have done this a few times in an attempt to solo the bosses and have had zergs show up at the last second.
“Is the zone full?” “Taxi in more people!”
People who say this when it’s almost time for the breach are the real problem. You don’t need a zerg. Breaches are best done with only 3-5 people, assuming of course they’re not bad players. Advertising your instance is just making it easier for abusers.
This a 1.000 times, taxing in pvt kittenters will not improve the breach sucess at all, and most of the “breach hoppers” will just hit the boss enough to get credit and move to another boss so they can get 4 parts.
Breach hopping could have been prevented by just making it so that you’d have to loot the corpse to get the part. Alas…
Worth mentioning that you still get a laurel for the Wintersday Daily. Effectively you can net quite a bit of extra laurels for December, because you can still do the monthly too (unless you already did it, of course).
Kite stuff on them and watch them die.
Too bad they removed the repair costs so it’s not worth ressing them until they’re naked.
As a more constructive criticism, I also struggled in the beginning because I was pressing the keys too early. You need to wait until the note “pops” before you press the key. Much easier to press the key too soon than too late.
I found this kinda humorous myself. We never actually gave back the ornaments to the orphans in the end. Heck, I chucked 4 of the 6 into the MF and got a ring which I sold to get some value out of them. (The gold ball ornament the orphans were going to sell for food after Wintersday being one of them.)
Does this make us next year’s Grawnk?
I salvaged the ornaments and totaled like 5-6 ectos out of them.
The Silverwastes are much closer to a “traditional” map size. There is still not every part revealed. I addition Silverwastes is a map with two layers.
The unrevealed part looks pretty small if you take a look at how it meshes with the world map.
Also, pretty much all of the original maps have several layers. Some have like 4-5 on top of each other, such as Lornar’s Pass and the caves under the Durmand Priory.
I’ll admit though that the Silverwastes caverns are extremely cool and vast. They were in my opinion by far the best addition of the whole LWS2 (so far, at least).
Dragonite drops from the lost bandit chests which you can open with the lost bandit keys, which you can buy from the rewards vendor.
I think it’s the 3rd heavy armor profession. No idea what it’s called, but I’m betting it will be a spellcaster of sorts.
Coming back to Earth, more likely it’s just another armor skin.
I think someone should again go check the definition of “achievement”, but it’s probably just me.
Just salvage them for ectos
If only Sentries were actually doing their job and reporting enemy troop movements…
Would also give an incentive to attack them ahead of time to make them report only a few attackers, while the full zerg could then pass unnoticed.
Lol didn’t notice that. Maybe it was an evil gingerbread man?
Any “sylvari” style world chest should be able to give the item.
Good point. I must admit I haven’t done the new JP – only the start. Had no time lately, but that sounds promising. The JPs are actually the only part in this game where I felt they excelled themselves.
You’re in for a treat, then. It’s not very challenging per se, but the scope will blow your socks off. Have fun
No, you’re not the only one. I’d actually say you think the same like 70% of the current GW2 players (number pulled out of my kitten, so accuracy might not be very good).
That’s why we have been begging Anet for a proper expansion, with several (5-6 at least) new zones, all filled with stuff to do and at least as good or better than the original zones we got.
Time will tell if that will ever happen. The new zones we’ve got via Living Story are ok (especially the labyrinthine cliffs and the massive JP under the Silverwastes), but they pale in comparison with the original ones.
I know I’d trade the living story updates every 2 weeks for a proper expansion every 1,5-2 years with a couple of bigger content patches in between them. You know, the WoW way.
Nevertheless GW2 is still in my books the best MMO out there today. Not perfect, but better than anything else.
If you are “only” lvl 12 I would wager you have not yet finished the exploration of the Wayfarer Foothills. You’ve probably unlocked several waypoints (blue tilted squares on the map), so open the map, find one in the Wayfarer Foothills (it’s the area east of Hoelbrack or “nornville” as you put it, click it to fast travel there and start exploring around.
As said, the best source of experience are the Dynamic Events. You should be pointed towards any that are close to you, by a message and an arrow in the upper right corner of your screen.
Especially for the lower half of the Foothills map, you are pretty safe to explore it all. Look around, there are hidden stuff everywhere you go. Keep your eyes open and just go see that interesting building in the horizon.
Exploration in GW2 is rewarding and fun. You’ll never want to go back to the lead-by-the-nose questing of other MMOs once you discover the GW2 way.
God, I wish I could wipe my mind and go back to when I first started GW2.
I don’t know what to say. I hope you guys are using that brain of yours to rack good salaries from your day jobs…
Amazing.
The frame drum allows you to pre-record loops and play the back, but it does nothing to sync with other players’ playing.
For me it was to realize that you’ll have to wait until the note hits the blue circle at your feet and disappears. I was pressing the keys way too soon. You can see you’re pressing at the right time when you get healed (instead of taking damage).
Well maybe the sheet would be just rolling at sync and you’d still have to press the keys in the right order at the right time? A bit like in the choir ensemble, but obviously with a bit different interface.
It could also allow a bit of “snapping” to the right sync if pressed close enough to the right time, eliminating a lot of the skill delay related issues.
Best of both worlds?
I don’t know how you could even compare the Orr zones to Dry Top or Silverwastes.
For starters, each of the Orr zones are double the size of Dry Top and Silverwastes combined (granted, we don’t have access to the western portion of Silverwastes yet).
Second, each Orr zone is practically littered with Renown Hearts, Dynamic Events, Vistas, Skill Point Challenges and everything that made the original zones interesting.
What the new zones do have over the Orr zones is a zone-wide rotating event, but IMO those are nowhere nearly as interesting as the original zones were.
In short, I don’t understand why they didn’t make the new zones more alike the original zones. Perhaps because they’re supposed to be desolate areas, but that’s a lame excuse. My bet is they just don’t have the resources.
My best consolation is that I can still go back to the original zones if I want and have some kind of challenge. I tend to find new dynamic events all the time I haven’t yet done (and I wish there was a tracker for those so I could hunt down all of them).
You get experience from pretty much everything you do.
Enjoy the leveling. I know for me it was the most awesome experience in GW2. I don’t enjoy Dungeons or Fractals so “end game” for me is PvP or achievements (and Living Story, I guess).
As long as you cannot create sheet music and/or sync with other players playing, any additional instruments are pretty much worthless. Check out how LotrO does instruments and player music. We’re a long way from that still…
There has been more living world related nodes. I’ve got a crystal formation and sprocket generator. I’m sure there are more.
Stow weapon interrupts your attack immediately. Priceless for using with long-winded attack animations like the longbow and hammer #5 skills, to bait a dodge from the enemy and only getting a couple seconds cooldown instead of the full one.
This part is so you wouldn’t notice that your hair disappeared. And no, it’s not possible to get only the hat part of this skin (or just a part of any other skin piece, for that matter). You’d need a separate skin for that – maybe Anet will someday make one, but i wouldn’t count on it.
Well they do have some headpieces (much smaller though than a hat) that don’t remove your hair, so here’s hoping.
I’m also leaning on the pact getting their behinds handed to them by Mordy big time. I mean, the only alternative should be to get to fight Mordy and kill it, and I don’t think that would be feasible at this point.
As a person who loves JPs I wholeheartedly agree with this thread. I was absolutely stunned by the sheer size of this JP and loved every bit of it.
But then came the real JP when I started getting all the golden badges. The one just next to the Dry Dock WP almost drove me mad, but in the end I got it. Awesome, simply awesome.
My only suggestion would be to add an optional “time attack mode” for all these big JPs in the game and a way to compare your time against others.
Well I just hope if/when we get a new zone, it will be a proper new zone. Like the original zones, and not like Southsun. With plenty of DE’s, POI’s, Heart Quests, etc.
If you’re getting 4v5 at mid, why isn’t someone from your team capping their home?
What? There is barely anything to read in GW2 compared to almost all other MMOs and more voiceovers than most MMOs.
Personally I’d like MORE reading in GW2, in the form of books and stuff like that.
Liadri was ok. The camera collision to the dome and the almost invisible AoE circles were not.
Fix those two and I’ll take on Liadri again any time.
I’d love the new style AoE circles for Liadri and camera collision fix with the domes.
warhorn is most underrated warrior weapon.. shuts down power builds with weakness, gives perma aoe swiftness, turns conditions into boons.. cures immobilize and cripple.. gives vigor.. short cooldowns.. what more do you need?
Great for support warrior, but warrior shines much better on non-support roles.
Is it time to start discussing about switching #2 and F1 again?
