Been there since the 15th of April patch. The only way not to “use” this “exploit” is to not play with a certain trait.
In the rare case of a 500-500 score, personal score decides the winner. How would you replace what decides the winner?
I agree though personal score has little meaning and should explained either at part of the tutorial PvP area or some how through Hot-join.
Until personal score is completely irrelevant we have nothing to decide the outcome of a 500-500 match at the moment.
Yeah all those 500-500 matches. Forgot all about those…
Just call it a draw then and give both sides win bonus?
Because the maps are just too small for 8v8.
Anet removed the free 8v8 servers. That’s why there are none anymore.
I say good riddance. 8v8 was a horrible mess anyway.
(holding the home point for most of the match and killing half a dozen players while doing it)
“Hey guys let’s try to WIN this!”
“Dude, look at your personal score lol! Ubad?”
Hey nothing as fun as a mighty warrior killing himself going down some stairs!
“Chaaaaarrr!Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!Aaaaaargh!” silence
Best part in falling damage is of course it kills you outright. No downstate for breaking your ankle in the stairs!
Either upgrade your computer or get a standalone external video recorder. Such as this one:

I believe the only way to turn Badges into gold is buying siege blueprints and selling those. If you have extra skillpoints too, you can upgrade into superior siege in the Mystic Forge.
Because condi builds bore me to death. That’s why.
I’ll accept the handicap.
August 2012 called and wants it’s “op” tactic back.
But yeah, with the new influx of “PvP” players in the field, there are bound to be many who still fall to the good ol’ Bull Rush + Frenzy + 100b combo.
Me, I slot a stun breaker.
My team slots control and boon stripping.
Also, the idea is similar to launch but half the things in this build were drastically different then.
That’s true. I still think it’s a one trick pony that has too large risk of failing to land. Obviously if you have the luxury of pulling this off to an opponent that has already spent their stunbreakers against a teammate it might be solid, so yeah in a 2v1 bunker busting situation it could work.

What if it just rewarded the side who takes it more?
Garrison flips… worth 100 points. Flip a garrison held 1 day: 10k points. For 5 days straight: worth 50k points. It should be enough that it can allow a server to catch up to one that has been in the lead for a long time.
Again only would emphasize the night capping problem.
Let’s just face the music. Unless servers are made all international to allow a reliable 24/7 coverage for all servers, any ideas to make WvW about defending stuff will fail.
Good suggestion in theory.
But in reality it would only amplify the importance of “Coverage Wars” and night capping.
Hop into the EotM karma train and you’ll get 40-60 dragonite per hour non-stop. Not to mention a lot of bloodstone and empyreals, too.
If you’re a PvE hero for beating them 1v2, I wonder what that makes them
I wonder if devs will say something about this after China game relase
I’m sure they will. How long after the release, however…
I would solve the problem the other way around and remove the leagues altogether. Obviously would have to remove the ridiculous rewards and replace them with Scarlet Gift Boxes.
Make objectives too slow/hard to flip and the PvErs go away, leaving WvW with 1/5 of its current numbers.
Sad but true.
I hear the name got changed to Chlore Island, though.
Durz’s post was in response to me saying I liked Ice on the LB. My WvW roaming build is based around CC, and adding that much extra CC is a big boon to me. It really is a lot of chill. I wouldn’t want to roam with a LB using only Ice as my CC/defense, though.
What do you do when you run into a warrior with -98% reduction on chill duration?
That’s a question you’ll like to answer
I want Shao Khan.
You think that’s bad? I lost ~20 hours on my booster because I can’t read and went to SAB.
Only if they add the mandatory jiggly physics with it.
2) The timegate is still there, but you can still skip it with gold.
Before I would have said “no” because of the ability to see which armor class is coming against you in PvP at a glance.
But with them now allowing outfits in PvP and WvW, I say sure, why not.
I like the idea of putting houses in the mists, but with the servers being merged, it would be nice to have the actual houses directly in the game world (not instanced), just like Ultima Online does it. Would need some expansion of the available land, but wouldn’t it be awesome to just explore this giant new wilderness and establish towns and set up services from your house for other players to use?
Unfortunately now with Megaserver technology non-instanced housing is pretty much an impossibility.
Keep in mind the no subscription fee model lends itself to taking breaks from the game. I’ve taken 2 or 3 breaks of several months and they always help me come back and focus more on specific goals.
This.
I’ve taken breaks too. It pays off not to burn yourself out with an MMO. Now it’s a great time to take a break, since there is no temporary content you can miss.
I hear Dark Souls 2 is good
(and it is, playing it myself at the moment).
Almost everyone on the forum wants them, but Anet has given us zero information if they are even planning them, so…
Why sigil of Intelligence on the Longbow? For Arcing Arrow crit? Do you actually hit anyone with it, ever?
Well for starters you should have the fire field at your feet most of the time. GS is good for evading (#3) and gaining some distance when you need a breather (#5).
Thieves in general are a big PITA for warriors, if their player knows what they’re doing.
I usually don’t even bother slotting Fear Me or Stomp for this map. I try to avoid falling off, but I don’t actively try to knock other players That’s how much I care about this gimmick map.
Cowards? Scared? Seriously?
It’s a video game. You can’t be scared in a video game. You can’t be brave either, no matter how much you beat your virtual chest.
WvW is less scary than tennis. Being brave in WvW takes less courage than engaging in a Your-Momma-So-Fat contest.
Go out and get some fresh air people.
:D but you mostly don’t die playing tennis
I’m pretty sure the people who have died playing tennis lead the score against people who have died playing videogames by a fair margin.
I don’t know why there is personal scoring in the match at all. There’s one score that should matter and that’s your team points.
I love the thieves for letting me cap points without opposition while they’re stealthed. Then when (if) they eventually kill me for that 5 points I’ve made 20+ points for my team by holding the point.
Stealth thieves particulary in sPvP are close to worthless if they go solo (which they do, consistently).
I actually though about this again and I think the amount of silk required for Ascended crafting is about right.
How so, you ask?
Because at the moment all the other cloth required for the Damask is much more expensive than silk, meaning there still is a lot, lot more silk coming into the market than the other required components.
So just lowering the amount of silk required for Damask is not a solution. It would just shoot up the prices of the other cloth materials through the roof.
Real solution would be to make cloth easier to farm and/or reduce the total amount of Damask needed for Ascended crafting. Good start would be to change the amount needed for the insignia from 3 to 2.
At this point you can probably answer a simple question:
Would you say, on average, that it is cheaper to buy the precursor you want from TP than to forge for it?
As I said, you can bring your code of honor. Just don’t expect it from the opposition. Sometimes you meet another “honorable” person and fight 1v1 to the death, but you don’t get to complain if the other player “abuses” all possible mechanics in the game just to kill you, including running and resetting the fight, getting friends, etc.
It’s a voluntary handicap for you – not some set rule that you can enforce on others.
But from a personal point of view, I usually do engage 1v1 if I see a roamer ankitten ot going somewhere in a hurry. If the fight looks like there is no chance in hell I can win, I’ll run. Some builds just counter others to the point the other player has to make a huge mistake to lose and in many cases it’s impossible to see what build the player is running before engaging.
There is also player skill, of course. When on my warrior I will usually get destroyed by good thieves and mesmers. Should I then not engage thieves and mesmers at all?
As I said before, if you want to duel “honorably”, go to the arena in OS. If you want to roam and kill ppl 1v1, bring a build that can catch runners. Simple as that.
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many cowards in this thread, lmfao. So many, omg.
You can try to justify your cowardice all you want, you’re still a sissy. There’s a difference between not engaging and avoiding a fight all together and attacking someone then running when things aren’t playing in your favor. It’s one thing to run off from a 1v1 but it’s a whole other to run from a duel where a /bow took place beforehand. Running from a 1v1 is a lot more acceptable but I still will never understand the logic behind it. As soon as you turn your back you’re incredibly vulnerable and basically giving your opponent free shots on you. Staying until the end is the best way to prevent dying because anything can happen in that last 10%< of your health. Your own zerg could run through, someone else could join to help you out, your enemy could make a critical mistake, you’ll never know if you’re always running off when things look bad.
If you’re not spec’d for 1v1’s, don’t engage. If you think WvW is unfair, why are you there? So you can run and claim WvW is unbalanced, or so you can win and claim your opponent was bad when for all you know they’re not spec’d for 1v1’s either…
There are always two sides to the story. Running does not = win, it means you forfeit and your opponent will very likely be a lot less kind to you if they see you a second time.
You can try to bring your own codes of honor and whatnot into WvW, but don’t expect your opponent to follow them.
An opponent that runs from you and comes back to kill you 3v1 still wins and you lose, end of story
Actually Sweet Revenge is not at all bad for condi builds, since those builds end up double downed a lot more often than power builds. In a double down situation Sweet Revenge is practically automatic rally.
TBH you can get MUCH more if you run EotM train, well maybe exclude dragonite ore. Ore is easily farmable via world boss events. I have 1 tab filled with dust, stars, dragonite. In fact I gain more daily than I am able to refine due to timegating.
Still, I do not want to trash it in hopes it will be needed for ascended jewelry or cooking. Sadly, the space in my bank and on alts ran out and I am forced to trash few stacks every day.
There is no timegate on refining dust/ore/fragments.
Make lots of toxic oil/stones/crystals and profit like a pro. Make sure you get the other mats with buy orders to maximize your profits.
No he somehow left the game in downed state before I could stomp him. There is a chance he had enough time to drop combat.
That should not be possible, so it was a bug or a hacker.
If someone DCs or closes the client when in combat they’re automatically defeated. The body doesn’t stay there, but the killer(s) should get the exp and the loot.
Offhand 5 is good for tagging mobs. Also keep in mind you can dodge and keep hitting stuff (with reckless dodge the damage adds up, too) with this skill.
I just had a mesmer chase me across the map with 2 of his allies, go into downed state when it was just him left and log out before I could stomp him! yes log out. Either SFR or BB mesmer in the BB BL ruins this morning, I’ll remember him for sure.
Well if he logged out you got the credit and the bag. Mission accomplished?
It means they suspect there might be a non-mesmer within the walls who could revive the mesmer. After all, that mesmer lying there defeated probably has a reason to stay there and not WP off.
You can’t use Revive Orb in WvW. Never could.
Dragons raging in hotjoin about nubs ruining “their” games always makes me lose a small bit of hope for humanity.
Well to be honest in most cases any defeated players will be able to get back into the fight by WPing almost as fast as they are revived after the fight.
This is absolutely untrue! Watch this video (Warning: STRONG LANGUAGE) and tell me if you can run back in the same amount of time it takes for a zerg to revive you from defeated state.
In this video, it takes the enemy team 3-5 seconds to revive a defeated player (we’re not discussing downed players; that’s not the issue). Note that the Green team was fighting on Red’s side of Stonemist Castle. If you can run back from the closest waypoint, let’s assume Green’s Keep as Stonemist is likely contested from the fighting, in under 5 seconds with swiftness I’m reporting you for speed hacking.
So you’re thinking that two organized small guild groups fighting each other and on voice comms is what I meant with “most cases”? Think again
T6 farming by killing mobs is ridiculously slow. Go kill champs, it’s much faster.
You could pull a very good number of T6 (and make a lot of gold) via farming in SSC and FGS (more than you could champ farming).
The trouble is now, with the megaservers, there are just too many people farming the same mobs without grouping, which kills your overall rate.
I tried the SSC farming before megaservers and the drop rate was absolutely abysmal. I could get 2-3 champ bags running the train for every T6 that dropped. I might have been unlucky, of course.
ESO tried unlimited AoE. Apparently it didn’t work because it was patched quickly post-launch to a 6 target cap.
