Subbed and watched some of the videos. A very nice gesture
IMO, Howler is also one of the nicer legendaries out there, and one of the most rare. I don’t think I’ve actually seen a single one in action, ever.
If the choice would be between S3 and a “proper” paid expansion, I’d probably choose the expansion.
In the perfect world, we would obviously get both.
But probably we’re just going to get S3, with feature patches in between.
And btw, Anet doesn’t need to sell the expansion separately. Just add a new race and/or profession and the money would be flying in from their windows because of additional character slots purchased.
Siege that requires more than one player to operate sounds pretty interesting.
That’s how it works in TESO and the rams there are pretty cool. You actually have to push them in place unless you want to try to build them right at the door (which is generally a bad idea since it takes much more time than in GW2).
Knocking someone back against a wall should cause extra damage instead of pushing them inside the wall.
Missile reflect at close range Rf = dead power ranger. Especially when many of them pop quickening zephyr before Rf.
It’s also missing crafting stations, but those will never be there, because Anet wants to sell airship/terrace passes.
Well there is nothing stopping you from trying it until that, and even after that. To my knowledge, the bladders will keep spawning as long as the extraction tools are available and breaches are happening.
I would assume Guilds will get a mega patch (Guild Halls, along with more guild missions, etc.) sometime this year or early next year.
Just my assumption. Nothing more solid than that there.
Defiance makes CC against bosses completely useless, unless you’re tackling them yourselves or with a small group all in voice comms.
I don’t have any ideas how to fix it for zergs, though. I think it’s fine as it is.
sometimes breaks are good when you get burned out, nobody is going to send you their stuff, stop with these stupid replies….
Stupid posts deserve stupid replies.
The shovels and chests are a group effort. As everyone can benefit from one shovel, you should gather people with shovels all around and share the loot and shovels.
I like the direction they’re going in with different mob designs, though I don’t think I care much for how stupidly hard things tend to hit in Silverwastes.
When the new car smell wears off for some, the self-evidencing detail that they didn’t encourage diversity will become clear – they just changed the meta required. Wanna do silverwastes? Put the zerker meta aside, roll out a vit/condi heavy build (or so goes how my own experiences are typically vastly improved).
You’re gonna need a boatload of HP and condi dmg/duration to really shine out there, as well as the usual competency at dodging and not standing in red rings of death.
I love the fact the mobs actually hurt if you don’t interrupt/dodge their attacks. Otherwise it would be again just one more braindead press #1 skill and drift off into Neverland events. Now you actually have to move and fight, sometimes retreat and come back, use CC, etc.
The difficulty is just right. Not hellish as that would drive away too many players, but not trivial either.
Also, you can still do just fine with power builds, but obviously you’ll want the condi ppl to handle the husks. If Anet wanted to change/add anything, maybe make some of the mobs cleanse conditions (a new type of mender perhaps) or be naturally resistant to them.
Just wait. One day they will merge all the WvW servers too and you are randomly put into “green”, “red” or “blue” team each week.
10 points for the first person to post a video of a blueprint kill.
I’m upping that offer to 10 gold. Staged stuff doesn’t count.
And then when you realize a condi build will melt the husks while traditional power builds struggle with them…
Yes, Silverwastes mobs are a good example of rewarding class diversity and using interrupts against standard mobs. I’m just thankful they don’t have Champion Terragriffs spawning (at least I haven’t seen any).
Any time I face a flamethrower engineer in PvP I laugh my socks off. Sometimes that laughter gets me killed by them, but very rarely.
So we’re now into the point that Silverwastes is what defines if GW2 is generic or not? Nice try, K.
I will however agree that I enjoy any one of the original zones much more than any of the maps added post-launch (although I have to admit I love/loved Challenger Cliffs). The new zones we’ve got post-launch are lackluster in comparison. Small, stripped down versions of the original maps.
They’re nice (and free!) and have a lot of nice, small details and secrets that lead you to explore them, but the original maps are so much more diverse, bigger and have tons more content.
I don’t know what it would take for Anet to add more zones that can compare to the original zones in scope and diversity, but if it is a paid expansion, I’d be more than willing to pay for it.
Anyone notice this guy probably has two accounts to boot…
You can block them from the chat panel.
I do agree that emote range is ridiculously long.
I would kill for your #2 suggestion.
Oh, and many role players did voice their concerns about this happening when the megaservers were introduced. Previously they were “isolated” on the unofficial RP servers (Piken Square and Tarnished Coast). Now they’re naturally (pun totally intended) on every server.
Also a lot of the Season 1 content was zerg-based, so making it replayable solo or with a maximum of 5 people group will need some serious rebalancing and redoing.
I think they’re just re-doing the instance-based content and leaving the zerg-based stuff as-is. It’s too bad, but I don’t see any way they could make those things work in a story journal.
I take it that your sister is new to MMOs?
Respawning enemies are pretty much a necessity when there are a million bloodthirsty characters roaming around and killing every living thing that’s not green.
I get it that it is immersion-breaking for mundane mobs like Dolyaks respawning out of thin air, but how would they respawn, then? Or should we remove all mobs that have no “explainable” way of appearing out of thin air?
Can I have your gold?
Well not all are able to chuck out a full Ascended set just for the heck of it, but I do get your meaning, Wanze
Yes GW2 has some grindy parts, such as ascended gear and legendaries, plus some exclusive skins.
But none of those are content gates, meaning that you can do all the content in the game without them. That’s what differs GW2’s grind from most of the other “grindy” games out there.
Of course all MMO games are “grindy” to a degree or another. That’s just because there is no development team in the world that could create enough content to keep up with the players consuming it.
The only way to have enough “fresh” content all the time for the players is to allow the players to make the content themselves. You’ll never run out of new content in games like Neverwinter or LittleBigPlanet (although the latter is not an MMO).
I wish developers would add more possibilities for player-crafted content in all MMOs. That would solve a lot of development problems and remove a lot of needed grinding. It would often introduce other problems, like how the progression is handled with player-created content.
I believe what the OP may be referring to as “Cheese” is the burst capacity. For me, I believe it’s been an issue for far too long. When you can burst down an opponent faster than their healing skill animation takes to proc the heal, there’s a serious problem in design. Think about it, have you ever heard or read a complaint from someone whom lost in a 1v bunker bunker fight? Not really, no. Getting burst down in under 3 seconds, now that you’ll hear rage about.
That only happens if you’re running a burst build yourself. Balanced builds don’t get destroyed in 3 seconds by a burst build, only glass cannons do, and running a glass cannon is your own choice. It’s a do or die build where you need to be the one opening with the burst and not the one trying to press the heal skill.
Well Piken has lost the 2 previous matchups and is well on its way to losing the third one in row. Either we really love the holidays or something is up. Even prime time yesterday there was only queue in EB, maybe 20-30 people tops.
I’ve come to notice WvW rank often doesn’t tell much of the person’s skill in PvP or WvW. Merely their endurance in running with the zerg (in EotM).
I’ve stomped many Gold ranked players who were absolutely terrible in PvP and I’ve been stomped by even sub-100 ranks without them breaking a sweat.
I would only change two things to make defending more viable.
1) Fix the clipping of projectiles when fired from the battlements. Currently it’s too easy to hit the wall on your feet even if there is a clear line of fire to the enemy.
2) Increase/decrease range of projectiles due to elevation, as would be realistic (well, for anything that’s supposedly ballistic, at least).
Well since the sword and Rytlock are both still a big part of the Living Story I say we might get an answer to that before the “end”.
More likely they’re just taking a Christmas break like everyone else, and the last episode will be on Jan 13th. After that there will be another break until Valentine’s Day. They just add enough grind for the last pieces into the last season update to keep people “busy”.
I’m not worried though. I’ve got a crapload of stuff to do still between my 5 lvl 80 characters, and another char coming up in the levels.
And still haven’t unlocked a single lumi piece either.
I’ll add mine:
37. Completion list for Dive Master by location.
38. Completion list for Dynamic Events (gotta experience them all!).
Different tastes I guess. I thought it was by far the most enjoyable of the achievements.
Staff Guardian is the way to tackle this achi.
Welcome! Have fun with leveling. Take your time and explore the world. It’s by far the most beautiful and diverse game world ever crafted. There’s always something new to see behind the next corner or over the next hill. And this coming from someone with 100% world completion for a long time now.
Sooo many puns I want to make in this thread…
Yeah but at least he brought whine with the cheese in this thread.
Let’s all start playing bunker builds and go roaming with them in WvW just to troll ppl out. 30 minutes of dueling or 2v2 without a single stomp should get the message through, right?
GW2 still the best MMO out there. Could be better of course, but as long as competition is dated (WoW) on Asian garbage (AA) Anet has nothing to worry about.
Tom Gore, indeed you pointed some points I didn’t had in count. Maybe the real player was hidden, is possible. When I mentioned the 2 seconds time, was the time that took to spawn another one after we slain him, with a finish move. Regarding an extra player around? well if he was stealthed we couldn’t see him while he remain that way.
I apreciate the fact you pointed this facts, but regardless I started the post with “hackers”, in no part of my original post I called anyone hacker, just exposed a strage situation that happened to me and a fellow server player.
I hope I don’t cross with such situation in future but if I do I’ll take your advice and will try to get screenshots from combat log.
Thanks for your constructive reply Tom.
Have fun.
If you indeed stomped the first thief you killed then yes, there must have been another thief around (they can move stupidly long distances in stealth with certain utilities and traits) or it was a hacker. Haven’t heard of an insta-revive hack though so I would wager it was another thief.
Shield with missile reflection works fine against the young karka in Southsun. That’s about it (and doesn’t help you to level).
Bell Choir for sure. It’s extremely cool when you get in a stage with 2 other people who can also play it flawlessly. I just wish there were more songs.
If you equipped or otherwise soulbound/account bound the armors they should be in your wardrobe now.
Retaliation does exactly what it is suppose to do.
Retal- Punishes rapid attacks
Aegis- Stops hard hitting attacks.
You can also add Blind to the “stops hard hitting attacks” category.
So yeah, let’s not take out the only counter to rapid attacks (along with missile reflection).
I just recently deleted a new character with 10 tomes of knowledge and a ton of writs of experience on him. I facepalmed, but luckily those aren’t hard to come by and the leveling in GW2 isn’t much of a pain anyhow.
But back then they didn’t have 200 thousand human heroes helping them. It’s been proven that one hero can trash an army all by him/herself.
The GW1 heroes maybe, the GW2 heroes not so much. Pretty much everything the GW2 hero does, especially the big stuff, he or she does while being supported by all kinds of npcs. I mean one of the major complaints about the fight against Zhaitan is that not only are you pretty much just one member of Destiny’s Edge, but most of the fight against Zhaitan and his minions is done by non-player pact members.
Besides, for every 2 human heroes there is still 1 charr hero.
Yeah, but as we can attest in PvP, 2 human heroes on average can walk over 1 charr hero without much trouble
Zhaitan fight is a bad example because in almost all other places in the game it’s the hero (or heroes) doing all the stuff while the NPCs are taking dirt naps or cowering behind walls etc. Look at Silverwastes. The Pact isn’t even sending any troops to take the forts. They just chill and wait. And why shouldn’t they, as they have 200 immortal Pact Commanders on each map taking those forts for them.
Absurd, I know, but that’s what happens when you have a story with 200 thousand heroes.
I think there should be guild battle standards you can carry around in WvW to let the enemy know which guild is about to crush them.
I’m actually really, really surprised that the warrior banners don’t show the guild emblem. At least the battle standard should proudly fly your guild colours.
I read your mail many times, thank you. The impression I got from what happened was that a stealthed thief came to the camp and used the Thieves Guild, causing two “Underworld Thief [guildname]” to appear. You and your buddies killed those two, after which the real player appeared.
So are you sure you actually killed the player or just downed him? Are you sure there wasn’t more than 1 enemy player there? I can also assure you cannot kill a player in 2 seconds. Down him maybe, but not kill him. Especially a thief who can port away when downed.
Screenshots with combat logs would help a lot in these. They are even more crucial when you start calling people hackers with such little information.
So did you actually claim the daily log-in chest by clicking on the shining icon? If yes, it’s gone. If not, I think it should pop again.
I still remember Arena Net talking about underwater exploration being a huge part o the Guild Wars 2 pre-release.
Priorities. Under water combat isn’t one of them.
Well you have to consider what they were comparing to. Any MMO back then on the market and sure, GW2 has a metric crap ton more of underwater exploration than all the competitors combined. Now with ArcheAge out there the mantle is not that certain anymore.
All in all, I think GW2 has some really nice underwater locations, but it’s clear to see it’s not been their focus recently.
But back then they didn’t have 200 thousand human heroes helping them. It’s been proven that one hero can trash an army all by him/herself.
