Complaining complaining complaining…. ehh.. people always complain, always. It can be anything and people will complain… C’mon, at least wait until it is released.

An overwhelming majority of Thief players are your run-of-the-mill “get to da choppah” them vs. the world main character action heroes. And that does not seem what Deadeye is going to be. Deadeye looks like it will make their character the co-star, rather than stealing the show – something some people can’t handle.

Ehhhh, I’m all for stealth stacking for permanent stealth as it is currently, since it takes up your resources – initiative, heal, dodges, sometimes SoA.

But from the looks of it, a Deadeye can perma stealth simply by pressing 5 twice every 3 seconds – maintaining all resources. Even less if they trait Shadow Arts.

Ehhhhhh. I think you’re romanticizing the past here. The RvR areas were gigantic. Most of which nobody ever step foot on. The current GW2 people who claim to hate DBL would throw a trantrum if they had to play there. All the action came from around realm gates – and don’t forget it took them what…over 4 years to implement diminishing returns on CC? Yeah, getting AoE Mezz’d for 52 seconds was really…engaging. And then ToA…the worst expansion I’ve ever seen in terms of ridiculously OP gear.

Daredevil has extra dodge, more dodge from CV, Bandit’s Defense, UC or BD, PI.

I’ll play Deadeye and probably have a blast with it! But I honestly don’t think it will be able to 1v1 an equally skilled Daredevil any more than a power-based core thief can.

Personally, the idea of a Warrior that flies across the map, strips all your boons, can’t be damaged, can’t be CC’d, can’t be condied, can 1-shot and you can’t kite more than 600 range from seems ridiculous.

The competitive potential of this game has been pretty much wasted at this point.

Unless they came up with a fully polished GvG implementation there is little hat can be done to bring back all the competitive players they’ve lost.

WvW will just consist of zergs farming for rewards instead of guild having interesting fights using unique strategies like in the first 2 years.

That seems like a client-side issue.

Just last night my guild had insanely fun fights using great strategies and positioning to annihilate our enemies of equal or greater numbers. Both in the BL’s and in EBG.

@everyone else: The empty threats of leaving/not buying exp are not necessary. Just make it known that you are disappointed that you don’t see any WvW content previewed. The best we can hope for is a dev to explain why.

Though honestly they probably won’t, because the forum-champions of WvW would throw another tantrum like they did with DBL, new siege, pips, etc…(any change from vanilla WvW, so I don’t even know why this is a concern at this point)

It’s far from that simple. This kind of simple thinking is actually part of the problem. Not saying there aren’t any issues with certain condi builds, but the main problem lies with people not knowing how to fight condi builds. Short of condi thief I personally prefer fighting condi builds any day on my power shatter mes. Because power dmg, once applied, “sticks” with you. Conditions can be cleansed (praise inspiration^^).

And who are you to dictate what Dire or Soldier should be. Both are just pieces of equipment with certain stats. What a player/build makes of that is something else entirely. Why people remain to think in such inadequate categories, is beyond me.

Indeed ! That’s a very simple way to prove that the issue is not with Dire/TB, but with the game mechanics below power damage and condi damage.

I just hope that now it has been put that simple, people will cease to jump “Nurf Dire !” whenever the topic arises…

There are currently two possible fixes for this to be remotely fair.

1: Re-work condition damage so it requires 3 offensive stats to maintain its current effectiveness.

2: Remove or re-work Dire/TB.

Which one do you think is the easier route, which given the choice, Anet would probably take?

Considering any warrior (or whatever) running dire or soldier would have the same HP and same armor, then soldier gives “all the tankines in the game”, doesn’t it ? So soldier should be the zero risk and low reward ? I’m more into thinking that the risk exists because the damage output may not be enough, so we’re back to “power is underperforming”.

No, Soldier should be low-risk, low-reward. Which is its current state.

Dire should also be low-risk, low-reward. Which is not its current state. It is currently low-risk, high reward.

We can’t make this any simpler.

Druid spec is just broken in wvw.

Only in 1v1’s though. The same druid isn’t going to 1vX and actually kill anyone. Probably be able to harass 1vX all day, though many professions can do that.

So you’re quoting a post saying that soldier is not working and it leads you to the conclusion that condis needs to be fixed ?

To me, if soldier is not working, then soldier needs a fixing.

So rather than have Dire gear removed or condi damage reworked into 3 offensive stats, you would instead have Soldier gear do the same as berserker currently does? I don’t think this game needs more power creep.

I gotta say, I used up about 12 tomes a day just to get them out of my inventory. Almost as useless as all the bloodstone dust, empyreal shards, and dragonite ore that WvW farts out of every box. Even with the eaters, those mats still clog my inventory.

Your posts are riddled with hypocrisy. Not to mention you are the minority in this thread, with all of your “points” being countered at every turn with logic and reasoning – something your posts lack. I’ll answer you this last time, but I’m sure its falling on deaf ears.

-I didn’t ask if your non-soldier’s warrior is effective. I said that you’re not going to be effective in Soldiers, so…not sure why you felt the need to include that.

-Yes, its incredibly unfair that one tanky stat combo renders someone relatively useless, while another tanky stat combo over performs. This is simple logic, like…really simple.

-If a condition build is forced to use less tanky stats – it will be in the same boat in terms of survivability as its power counterparts currently are – they don’t seem to get destroyed so easily, that’s probably just you?

-If a condition build did less damage while retaining its current tank stats and survivability – it wouldn’t be “destroyed” any more than it currently is damaged by power builds right now…

I don’t understand how people can justify arguing this:

Can you be effective in all Soldier’s stats? Realistically: no.

Can you be effective in all Dire stats? Proven and common knowledge: yes.

Is someone in Dire stats effective as someone in Berserker stats?
-In zergs: Yes, more effective than Berserker.
-In small scale: Yes, equally as effective, and in some situations, more effective.

So where is the justification that one person who is just as effective as another, gets to have ~10k more HP and ~1000 more toughness?

Because given scaling amounts for someone who is condition geared, a single condition application, not stack, but single application, does far more damage than a single hit from 90% of a power based build’s attack. And even the small amount of power based attacks (warrior burst abilities, backstabs, true shot, you name it) cannot match some single application condition abilites.

For example: my condi Warrior’s LB5 does over 21,000 bleeding. Unlike your 20k gunflame, my example is not under extreme circumstances. 1 ability. Granted it takes 17 seconds, sure, but that is what this whole thread is about – professions that have insane defenses can apply conditions and quickly use up their opponents cleanses, then kite/evade/stealth or just generally sustain.

You’re comparing an extreme situation to a normal situation. To achieve those hits, those characters can be sneezed on and be double-downed. You cannot even begin to justify comparing counterplay here.

Please define the NORMAL situations where these condition apps applied. If you come back with only one class that can do it, then it a fail.

My warrior is in ~3k armor and has over 26k health. He a power warrior that can chrun out plenty of damage . He does not die to a sneeze.

Condi necros, mesmers, thieves and revenants can all dish out those condi numbers faster than any profession other than support ele can cleanse. They can also do so while having high amounts of toughness and vitality.

No, your 26k hp warrior does not do 10k headbutts – at least not in a practical situation. That would require 700 points allocated to vitality. What are you in, full Valkyrie gear? If so, your opinion no longer means anything since that’s not even close to gear that an experienced warrior would run, for painfully obvious reasons.

Oh man, I sure wish I could go full soldier on my power professions and do anything remotely threatening at all.

Thats your personal L2P issue. All my guard builds, all my rev builds and most of my mes builds except 1 are power based and do very well.

My Engi / Scrapper is either or, whatever and whenever suits my mood.

My war, ele and druid are power as well, though I don’t get to run them much anymore due to heavy and chaotic work schedule, so I don’t have a very good gauge on them.

You should really either visit your profession forums, or ask in your server TS, or better yet both and run with some people that know what they’re doing and can help you out and teach you a bit.

P.S. I love having the additional choices, even if don’t get to play them due to my time limitations, I still hop on them once in a while just for novelty and it rocks.

This is a L2Read issue for you, buddy.

Ok long answer then. All that is in one instance and applies 3 conditions in total; chill, bleed, weakness. Even if you take every hit and somehow don’t dodge any of it, you can easily cleanse it.

Why? They are just as glassy as full Zerker specs if they play with Viper and a pretty good counter to toughness stackers, while my thief can 3 hit people with dagger and is a pretty good counter to people who don’t stack toughness.

They seem more or less on par with eachother only both counter other builds obviously.

Thief only can hit 2 people with dagger, and that’s only their auto attack. Unless for some reason you’re talking about death blossom, which would not support your argument anyway…

Either way, these two things aren’t comparable, so not sure what you’re going for here.

Solo roamers roam. Groups of 2-5 don’t roam, they gank.

Roaming was never exclusive to people being solo. I would say 1-3 qualify as roaming. 4-7 would be labeled havoc. And 8+ would be the beginning of zerging.

I roam solo on Thief, Condi Reaper, Hammer Scrapper, and if I’m feeling particularly suicidal, Hybrid Ele (which I have absolutely no idea how to play other than mashing buttons on cooldown)

But I see every profession roam solo. Heres the breakdown of what I see and if its power/condi.

Thief – Mostly Power
Necro – Almost Exclusively Condi
Mesmer – Mostly Condi
Engi – 50/50
Ele – Almost Exclusively Power
Guard – Almost Exclusively Power
Rev – Mostly Power
Warrior – Almost Exclusively Power
Ranger – Mostly Bunker.

I was tagged up on TC, and we ran into that Anet zerg at the SE tower on the alpine BL. It was like…. seeing Bigfoot, Elvis, Tupac and Jim Morrison riding the Loch Ness monster. I’ll admit, I may have chased you guys down a little farther than I would have chased other groups, but I was in a state of shock. I didn’t think about a screenshot until 10 minutes afterwards. It was a good sight to see, though, and I hope it happens a lot more often.

There is a group of us that try and play WvW once a week for a bit so keep an eye out We try to do different worlds each time and I’m not sure the minionmancers will make a return next time. I guess we’ll see.

Are any of you confident enough to solo-roam? I wanna bump into one of you and annihilate you. In the spirit of sportsmanship, of course.

And yet you still ignore the already existing Shared Participation. If you’re scouting it means that you’re not in a dead timezone, else there’d be no point and you’d just roam instead. That means chances are there will be a commander online leading, who you can then scout for and gain SP from.

Don’t forget that you don’t even have to be in the same map as the commander/squad to continue gaining shared participation!

I doubt that it is behaving differently for different ppl, it’s more likely that ppl are engaging in different activities. Zerglings, roamers and afkers shouldn’t really be noticing much difference, while scouts are . . .

“Scouts” are fine. If you want to semi-AFK in one place, without running around close to the objective killing a guard, sentry, recapping a camp or shrine/ruins…then you can ask if there is a tag (On any WvW map, mind you) if they can share participation with you.

You will still get shared participation even if the rest of your squad is in a different map, heck, you’ll even get participation if the rest of your squad is on a different server.

change the boon steal priority list to something like: Might, Fury, Protection, Ageis

Would rather it steal stability and resistance before might or fury.

You did not. And I did not confirm your claim of Thieves being vastly superior in terms of engage/disengage.

Sure I did. I described a scenario in which a thief could do something through superior mobility that other classes can’t do to nearly to the same degree.

Because I’ve seen thieves do that a bunch. Had a friend on another server doing that just the other day, even against non-scrubby players. He was laughing too because (1) he’s not a thief main, and (2) he want even using the acro line and was still effortlessly avoiding any real danger.

No, you didn’t. You merely made another exaggerate claim of something you think you see “a bunch.” Then you go on to mention a “friend on another server” (throwing in the adverb effortlessly) was doing this, and even without the defensive traitline. This isn’t even close to something you could call evidence. And it’s not even regarding the engage/disengage superiority I requested you to prove. You’ve lost all credibility now, and my interest. It’s been fun, though!
