This sounds really frustrating, and I would like to fix it ASAP. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! Can you give me a bit more information about this? Which orbs specifically? Are you talking about the ones at the beginning, or the ones at bloomhunger? Also, do the orbs appear active? i.e. are they glowing green? Or are they just never activating in the first place?

Were they active at one point but after a wipe they never reactivated? Or were they never working in the first place? If you can reproduce it consistently with steps that is the best thing to help me fix this.

It affects the orbs at the beginning. They appear active like usual. The bug can only be noticed if you try to pick up an orb and it doesn’t work. It happened to me in different (T3) swamp runs, but i couldn’t reproduce it consistently. It seems completely random, which player or orb is affected.

You can still play stronghold, if you want to. But it has no place in ranked, because it would render the ranking system meaningless. The rating is there to show players how good they are compared to others and to give an incentive to become better. But how do you want to compare players of different game modes, that don’t even have to face each other? It would be like making a single ranking for tennis and golf.

Healing the pet with anything including regeneration, Natural Healing trait and SotW charges AF. Even charging AF with staff works mostly because of the pet. Staff is a strong weapon choice – not only for AF generation – but not mandatory.

I’m not an esl player, I’m not a god of pvp, I’m average at best and at very least I can rotate with a decent understanding of the map main mechanics so why…why at 1400 rating

When considerng that 1200 rating is the average – what’s wrong with your – above average – rating of 1400?

I agree that the difference between player quality in a match is too big – but is has been like this since forever. SoloQ, TeamQ, Ranked, Unranked, Season 1,2,3,4 – it has always been an issue. It doesn’t has much to do with the ranking/league system – which is imo by far the best this season – it is more an issue of too small playerbase. “Fixing” it would lead to much higher queue times – not sure if that’s worth it.

Ranger traps work like dh traps – cd starts when placed. I’m pretty sure, it is the same for thief traps.
I don’t have any issues with this mechanic. Trap ranger and thief are already quite weak and even full trap dh are ususlly easy to kill.

Stronghold and conquest are basically 2 different game modes. So it doesn’t make sense to make a single leaderboard/ranking for both. And because there are obviously not enough players who play stronghold, its not worth to make an additional league for stronghold only.

It doesn’t really matter, because the decay is not permanent. After 3 days of inactivity you will start losing 100 rating per day, up to 700 in total. When you come back, every played match will remove 100 from the decay, so after 7 games your rating will be (roughly) the same as before your inactivity.

Druid is still strong in roaming/small scale fights and it has never been great in large zerg fights for other reasons than CA cooldown. 10s cd was pretty op when combined with Druidic Clarity and Celestial Shadow. I don’t see any issues with 15s cd.

It is still a weak build …

Traited survival skills for stunbreaks/condi remove/mobility would be better than your mix of utility skills. And wanderers amulet (or the new one) over viper, because it offers more precision (= more bleeds) and some defense.

Overall i don’t think, condi builds will be able to compete with the meta power/support focused build in higher tier PvP. Offensive condi builds (skirm traitline) don’t have enough pressure to compensate for the lack of sustain. Maybe if it would be possible to use both bleeds on crit and traited traps like in the past, but this would require a complete rework of the whole traitline. And condi bunker builds lack utility/support compared to power builds.

The weapon skill numbers are not realistic, because weapon swap cooldown can prevent you from using your skills on cd. And there are overall more things to factor in when talking about active defense (blocks and evades are not always reliable – ranger GS is a good example for unreliable defenses – blinds, stealth, ports, reflects and interrups can be used as additional defense and so on …)

Aside from this, it is not advisable, to spam defensive skills whenever they are ready.

And with power thief you can do those 20k in 1 second, right? Both signet and venom thieves are not very strong builds overall, because they sacrifice too much defense for dmg and if their oneshot-attempt fails, they don’t have much left. For both types of dmg, builds with higher sustain/survivability and sustained dmg are usually superior.

as far as testing dummies go those were my wvw numbers without perplexity runes in wich case i managed to land 25k dps on a mesmer, necro and warr

Don’t mix up (burst) dmg and dps. Nobody can deal 25k dps in a solo setting. Not even with max dps PvE builds and against a golem.

It is an equivalent in terms of being the best stat combination for the particular dmg type. It is not an equivalent in terms of offering the same amount of offense and defense. And because of some basic differences between power and condi dmg, it is not even possible to achieve a balance statswise. Increasing vitality or removing dire/trailblazer, as many people ask for, would not increase balance, it would just limit diversity even more. Like in PvP, where they are trying to create balance through removing stat combinations, which – surprise, surprise – didn’t work out that well.

That’s why they should balance traits, skills, runes and sigils with the existing stat combinations in mind and not the other way arround.

Tempest didn’t got nerfed because of too much dmg + sustain, it got nerfed because of its strong team support, which made it kinda mandatory for a good team composition. And it is still a decent supporter. Unfortunately this role doesn’t work as well in soloQ as it does in coordinated team play and like pretty much all classes ele lacks build/role diversity. So yea, it sucks.
But apparently the game is “perfectly balanced” because all classes are in some way viable. So who cares about diversity? Anet obviously don’t.

There is marauder gear. It offeres all 3 offensive stats for a power build + vitality. There is no condi equivalent. As a condi build you can go full bunker (dire/trailblazer) or full glass hybrid (viper/sinister). There is no 4-stat-amulet that offeres both max offense + some defense for condi builds. Rabid/carrion or mixed stats will always result in lower total stats, so not optimal either. The glass variant sucks, because condi builds gain less dmg from stats than pure power builds, which leaves the tanky gear as only good option. Condi builds have it a lot worse than power builds, when it comes to gear variation and increasing vitality across the board would solve nothing. And even with the “op” dire and trailblazer gear, only a few classes are truly better going condi than power.

Fix unbalanced traits and skills for both condi and power builds – then gear wouldn’t be as much of an issue.

So like I saied, the posted build provides the great tools for open WvW, mobility included.

I’m not saying, your build is bad, or it hasn’t any mobility. But whenever i play with lb it feels like i’m lacking mobility (unless i use QD – but skirmishing brings other downsides), because i’m used to have more of it with my full melee build and the only other thing that can match it mobility wise is staff + either gs or s/x. LB 3 is too unreliable for safe escapes, so even if you might have to sacrifice your mobility skill on staff for the stealth, i find it a lot easier to escape this way.

Since he asked for a high mobility build i’d rather recommend staff + gs or s/x as weapons and bm/traited shouts for swiftness (if warhorn is not taken – with wh the ws/nm/druid build is fine, but it might lack some dmg without lb).

Sindrener even avoids 1v1s against DH in matches because it’s not a smart use of his time.

Overall i tend to agree with suffish. Never found class stacking to be a huge issue. Of course one team can have a weaker composition than the other, but the same can happen without class stacking too.

Power Druid

Power druid is not a dps build, it is a support build. It can provide various offensive buffs, that can increase group dps by a lot. So even with low personal dps the build is far from useless. It also brings some utility (pull/reflect/heals/condi clear) and has decent burst in short fights.
Condi ranger is a pure dps build. Of course it has higher dps than power druid (like all condi builds it has lower burst though, so in very short fights power is always better), but it brings nothing useful for a group outside of its dmg. Also keep in mind, that actual dps difference might be a bit lower than in the dps ranking, because condi ranger loses dps if mobs move out of your traps/bonfire or if you can’t flank the enemy constantly.
You can also play condi druid, which trades some personal dps for group buffs.

So if you want to do more dmg, yes, go condi. But be aware that this won’t make you automatically more usefull, because group dps matters more than personal dps. In the end you should just choose the playstyle you enjoy more. Both – power and condi druid/ranger – can be useful.

Ranger should be about working together with the pet, not letting the pet do its own thing and hoping it does something useful. They shouldn’t be some kind of passive dmg with barely any counterplay. I mean, how are you supposed to deal with high dmg pets like birds or cats if you couldn’t kite their autoattacks that can hurt quite a bit? Of course many pets need improvements, but ranger shouldn’t become something like turrent engi v2.

Its very unlikely though that anety will improve control and mircomanagement for pets, because it seems that they want to make the game easier, not more complicated. Pets that work on “autopilot” are more likely to happen.

Tiger tends to melt in group fights though, even if its just small groups. I wouldn’t recommend it outside of 1vs1.

Yet mesmer staff, which is second lowest weapon on the list, is meta. (Dps between druid staff aa and mesmer GS aa at max range isn’t that much different btw, i tested it once. Imo the reason why power mes isn’t meta is, that condi builds synergize better with the meta traitlines and without those traitlines mes lacks defense/sustain. Buffing GS aa won’t change much unless the dmg gets increased to ridiculous levels. Mesmer GS has always been more about burst and it was good in the past.)
Many weapons that are high on this list are trash and some with low autoattack dps are meta. This list IS meaningless. There are plenty of other things that have to be factored in when talking about how good or bad a weapon is.

Ranger GS autoattack definitely has not higher dps than LB autoattack at 1000+ range. Some other numbers seem a bit off too. The wiki isn’t always 100% accurate. Of course it doesn’t really matter, because this list is meaningless anyways. It says absolutely nothing about how good or bad a weapon or class is in PvP (and even in PvE those numbers are not really relevant). So i don’t understand why people try to make conclusions based on this list.

Most complaints i read about ranger pets in a PvP context come from players of other classes who have to play against rangers and their pets, so i don’t know, why you think that its mainly PvP rangers who don’t like their pets. I mean, why would you play a class in PvP which you don’t like? Ranger is good but not mandatory, so there is nothing that would hinder somebody to just play a different class in PvP.

Most of the desire for a petless ranger is coming from pvp players.

I don’t think, that’s the case. This discussion seems to be more about archetypes (beastmaster vs archer vs whatever …), less about balancing issues. And only the latter is relevant for PvP, where ranger is still a good choice. Despite having pets? Or maybe even because of the pets …

Berserker stats are fine. You can play something like the Power Glyph Buffer. If you want to keep your GS (for open world it is often the better choice anyways) you can just use it instead of S/A or LB (depending on the situation).

It’s hilarious to see you pet lovers are so terrified if Rangers had an option to be a petless class. Read: OPTION which simply means you could use pets as you always does OR stow it completely. But unlike Avoid Combat, Stowing a pet now gives you buffs/dps/cc of the pets u choose to stow. No one suggested to completely removed your fluffies lol.

That “option” won’t work without a complete rework of many traits and skills. And you can’t just add dps and cc and think, it is the same as having those tied to a pet (guess what would happen if the pet-less option turns out to be better than the original ranger – play meta or gtfo …).
If you want an option to perma stow the pet without any changes/benefits from doing so – ok – but everything else means basically creating a new class.
If you don’t like a pet – there are 8 other classes without one …

They only have a noticable impact on 1v1 fights….and its still minuscule compared to all the other buffs you can bring into a fight.

As a solo roamer for more than 2 years i have never met somebody who used tonics to gain an advantage in a fight. Ever. Tonics were always used for fun in a friendly manner.
The “tonic exploiting” is virtually non-existent.

The same can be said about some power builds (personally i would call all meta builds braindead in some aspects – its just a result of the HoT powercreep).
I agree that there are some condi specs that should get nerfed, but there are lots of other things that should get nerfed too imo. And it is always a matter of specific builds/traits/skills and not a general power vs condi issue.

In PvP condi builds are not innately tankier than power builds. The tankiest builds are actually power based, not condi. So according to your argumentation, both types of builds should be able to deal the same amount of dmg, right? And power builds still have much better burst potential.
And because there is a lot more defense and healing in the game, you need more dmg than in the past, to kill stuff. It is not possible to kill many builds slowly, because that dmg would just get outhealed.

You can’t remove the ICD from those traits without without changing how they proc instantly on F2 activation and not at the end of the cast , which would be a pretty huge nerf, because otherwise you could spam them by cancelling the F2 ability.

Even with dire gear there are only a few condi builds that are too strong. Many condi builds are bad regardless of stats.

As long players are transferring arround like crazy it will be impossible to achieve any kind of population balance via linking, no matter how many worlds there are. More smaller worlds just mean more opportunities to join stacked server links for cheap.

Even if it would be possible to create exactly even numbers via linking, this theoretical balance will be destroyed within a week because of transfers.

Lack of disengage potential would hurt roaming/small scale even more, because it would be all about outnumbering your opponents for some safe and guaranteed kills. I don’t see anything wrong with being able to disengage from situations somebody can’t handle, be it because of numbers of players, builds or skill level. Because most “fights” aren’t fair anyways.

If protection and retaliation were actually changed to work against conditions, that would really go a long way towards actual balancing.

Retaliation works vs condi builds just as well as vs power builds because it triggers on each hit regardless of the actual dmg (it is not a reflect), and condi builds have to hit you too (only exception is ghost thief). Since retal dmg scales with the power of the source, it is actually more benefitial for power builds to have his boon.

And protection is already a very powerful boon, it shouln’t get buffed. Or should resistance grant 100% reduction of direct dmg too? To make it fair, you know … And then please let me cleanse dircet dmg too, i don’t want to be forced to run some toughness to not get oneshot …

Seriously, the main problem with conditions is not a balance problem. It is more a psychological one. People dislike conditions for various reasons which are often based on misinformation and lack of knowledge and this will never change, because people refuse to learn. Otherwise there wouldn’t be the same wrong arguments over and over again in threads like this …

The current design simply cannot produce engagements where condi is balanced because either application or removal will dominate.

That’s like saying power dmg can’t be balanced because either the dmg or the healing will dominate. Condi cleanse is not the only defense against condis …

There is no diminishing returns, but condition duration and boon duration is capped at 100% and more than 100% crit chance is useless too for obvious reasons.

There is a middleground between full bunker and full dmg right?

With perma prot, great mightstacking and high quickness uptime on top of other boons for both the ranger and the pets, NM druids can have both decent dmg and survivability. At least in WvW.
