I had an incident yesterday where I failed to rally off a dolyak I’d nearly taken down before being downed… is that intended for you to not rally off dolyaks?
Thanks!
Why is it a bad idea to challenge a Sylvari to a duel?
Everyone knows they never go anywhere without their pistil.
You should consider, if you didn’t, making a new email address solely for GW2 and using it for nothing else but GW2, then tie your account to that. Also add the authenticator if you can.
But who is counting for world population?
Only the ones that are currently online or everyone registered for a server or anything in between?
People online at the time.
If you’re getting these emails I recommend creating a brand new email address solely for GW2 and using that as your log in email instead of whatever you’re using now. Use it for nothing else, only GW2.
If you clicked on the link above, Balthazar help you.
I had this happen months ago. I immediately created a totally new email address and tied that new address to GW2 instead. That new email is exclusively for GW2 and nothing else, ever, period. Never had an issue again.
Funny, though, today I received a phishing email at the old address, the same one everyone else is getting. Go figure.
Change your email address, create a new one only for GW2. Then change you password while you’re at it. You’ll be happier.
A Norn and Sylvari stop in an inn just outside Hoelbrak for some refreshments after a long day adventuring. The Norn bellows to the bartender “Your largest and strongest ale!”. The Norn around him cheer him on in encouragement. The Sylvari then turns to the bartender “I’ll have a water please.”
A hush falls over the crowd as they look in stunned disbelief. The Norn says to his friend “You’ll have to order something stronger than that in this place, friend.” The Sylvari turns back to the bartender “… and put it in a dirty vase.”
Ale, GLORIOUS Ale! All the races in Tyria love their ale, but non more so than the Norn. Of course, the Norn are as susceptible to the infamous “ale-goggles” as everyone else. Listen to the tales you often hear after a moot of the conquests Norn men had. More often than not, it’s Eir today, Garm tomorrow.

You should not have clicked on that link. Change your password now, and you’d be wise to create a brand new email address for your account that you use for GW2 and nothing else.
Change it from the official places, not a link in the email.
Just got one myself, but not on the actual email I use for GW2. It came on the old one.
I can’t imagine how anyone would think it’s a bright idea to make siege ineffective in WvW. Blocks are one thing … reflects are quite another.
It wouldn’t make them ineffective. It would, however, make using certain siege more planned out. If you want to treb Bay from Garrison you need to make sure they’re not down there reflecting. If you’re going to fire ballistae into a crowd you may want to consider that ground targeted AoE and hold off on using “3” until you see what you’re up against. It wouldn’t affect arrowcarts. Cats would face minimal impact, but that one guy that sacrifices himself to jump off the wall for a quick reflect (unless the cats are hitting halfway up the wall…) could have a tale to tell after.
The only strong effects you’d see are with trebuchets firing from perfectly safe locations. They’d either have to be careful when shooting or have their own defenses in place to catch reflected shots. Cats and ballista would see nominal affects more in line with a reflect here and there. Cat firing would require better aim to get above the guardian, for example, to hit the wall… or your group keeps the wall clear in the target zone.
The “siege would be worthless” argument is grossly exaggerated.
That’s not how reflections work. Once something has been reflected it can’t be reflected again.
Now, that’s too bad, although with siege it could behave differently… I wonder if it could be absorbed however?
Basically, you could wear “Ring of the Ascended Bunny” and “Ring of the Ascended Jackalope” at the same time, but not two “Ring of the Ascended Bunny”s.
Did you hear about the Sylvari couple that filed for divorce?
They felt it was time to turn over a new leaf.
No one is talking retaliation. Reflects.
Anything that can be reflected could be reflected back…
I think you missed the part where I was comparing it to retaliation. In a comparison kind of way.
To simplify my statements further though.
If reflects worked on siege, I and some proportion between 1% and 10% of the WvW population would play the class that could reflect best and we would ensure no serious threat would ever come to our important objectives. ever.
Your siege would all be dead (yes, ALL of it) within a few shots at my tower and everyone would be crying for the change to be reverted within hours of the patch.
Imagine if swirling winds destroyed the siege it was blocking. That is pretty much what you are asking for and it would pretty much mean anything but a flame ram would be useless in WvW.
OK, So you’re going to treb Bay we’ll say. The other guys station a couple rangers, guardians, etc. to reflect. You counter with a few reflectors yourself to reflect what’s reflected back.
Imagine.
No one is talking retaliation. Reflects.
Anything that can be reflected could be reflected back…
SoR and BG need to double team JQ. JQ thinks numbers=skills.
We’ve been double teamed many times, just as we’ve been part of double teams against everyone else. Of course, they’re not planned double teams, more like opportunistic choices to attack where someone is weak. We’ve held our own in some of these apparent 2 v 1, we’ve also been steamrolled in others, we’ve had epic fights in the middle. (Ah, those classic three-ways in Bay that last hours and leave everyone giggling… good times, good times…)
Apparently, according to… well, one of the devs, I forget which, there was a time back in the day when reflects reflected siege weapon fire, so they removed that “feature” for WvW. (There are still places in PvE where this works, btw…)
Imagine if they reintroduced that into WvW? Oh what FUN it would be!
Rangers would be in demand when trebuchets on Garrison are firing at Bay. Break out the whirling axes! Firing those amped up ballistae at that mesmer? A quick tap of the thumb button, a little “Mirror” action, oh yeah.
What do you all think… how would it change WvW and would it be worth experimenting with? Would it worth elementalists no longer being demanded to use swirling winds all day while others go out and play? Would mesmers find greater joy in offering Feedback?
Would ArenaNet be against pondering giving this a try?
I’d like to see it… the fun it could be! Trebuchet Ping Pong with guardians, mesmers, etc. reflecting shots back and forth! (YouTube would have great videos, that’s for sure…)
Yeah, keep in mind world 1 is easy. The difficulty will be rising as more worlds come in, as well as hard mode. I’m sure you’ll eat a LOT of CCs if you want to take that challenge on.
Dang, now I regret trading them for Krugerrands.
I love the miner’s bags from Fractals however.
ruh roh score update as requested before my head rolls :o
Need eyes on Hills on BGBL! Stat!
So… beedog minipets anyone? Surely this can happen…
They already exist! A Super Trio minipet set is available in the Gemstore
one of the three pets in there is a Beedog!
I need to pay better attention.
Wait… is it the queen beedog or the underlings?
So… beedog minipets anyone? Surely this can happen…
alright who turned JQ login server off
Aw crap… the day ended?
Utilities were being used on Komali. They were not working. Please leave the thread, troll.
Portal is a utility. I could use that on Komali. Gee… no effect. He wouldn’t take it. Sigh…
The point is, there are a variety of utilities that can be used to support your allies as well as attack the bad guys. I use null field, for example, on allies to give them a nice window of attack where they’re not taking the conditions while doing so. The necro well is even better, turning conditions you may suffer into boons. It isn’t about simply using things on Komali, for example. What are you using on your allies, and when?
Ok, who spilled water on JQ’s overnight/morning crew and then fed them? I swear their numbers have doubled since last week this time of day.
Jade Quarry doesn’t have a night crew.
Our days simply never end.
Oh right, so the two mesmers and necro that were there, that were doing just that and nothing was happening, must be playing wrong. My bad. Felix is one of the easier targets.
…. Somewhere in a corner, all alone, the point sits sobbing silently at the pain of being missed completely.
I thought he was talking about mesh stockings or something odd. Ah well.
I know you can get the level 80 t-stones through doing your personal story, I have a bunch from that.
I’m on my lvl 68 story, haven’t got any stones yet. Also haven’t got anything yet that really drives me to do the story, nothing unique, and was never as good as the drops I’d already got… that’s one of the reasons I’m 80 and haven’t completed it yet.
IMO you get better stuff from map completion, monthlies and dailies.
Hey, maybe it was map completions I got them in… I forget. I’ve still a bunch of maps to complete… dang WvW keeps sucking up my time… I’ll try to squeeze a few more in and see. It could have been the completions…
So now we need to spec a certain way and make sure the right classes are even online before attempting these? Are we joking here?
Another sign the targets were buffed: Devious Tessa. In previous weeks, a few people would go down on her pull-ins. Lately, she’s been dropping people like flies.
Spec a certain way? No, use your freakin’ skills like they’re meant to be used. Utilities are there to be swapped out depending on the situation. We did T2 last night with 15 of us on, got done in plenty of time. Felix was one of them… man, that dude’s fire shield… but we did it not by turning off the brains and spamming “1” over and over but by using our skills that best helped in the situation. Personally on my mesmer I went with Null Field, Arcane Thievery and Feedback as utilities.
Dang it… Moa! Can he be turned into a Moa? I need to try that out next time…
I thought he was talking about mesh stockings or something odd. Ah well.

While we’re on the subject of ridiculous bounties, can we talk about Diplomat Tarban?
We had him last night, and while we succeeded, it was a totally miserable experience. Attacking him inflicts stacks of confusion, he inflicts stacks of confusion in aoes, and really, he just spams confusion. Given that confusion deals damage when you attempt to res someone, too, you can kill yourself just trying to pick people up. Literally the only way to avoid confusion that gets reapplied that frequently is, you guessed it, to do absolutely nothing and just stand there! I don’t really mind his mechanics all that much, I just want to see the number of confusion stacks toned down so that more than half the fight isn’t spent waiting for stacks to wear off before you attack him. No amount of condition cleansing bar condition immunity can really contend with the number of stacks he drops.
This is a good one to (obviously) take condition removal/transfer/transmute skills to. The necro wells that change conditions to boons, Null Fields, even Arcane Thievery are all nice to take along for example. You can’t simply attack them to death. You need to use your utilities and think about how and when to use them.
Could they be siblings instead?
This may sound odd… but there was a shooter I played a while back that gave me motion sickness. Dramamine actually worked until my brain got used to the input it was receiving. Only took a few times… it’s worth a shot for those that have similar happenings here.
By “it”, I mean “the zerg” but I ran out of characters in the title.
And by “true”, I mean the only one I can think of at the moment and I don’t think it’s actually possible in the game at this time. Oh, right… the one true way they could ultimately break the zerg would be to implement collision will allies and enemies in WvW. Balling up would be over, you’d be forced to spread out to a degree… that would work.
Work, that is, until a Norn jumps on my Asura’s shoulders and starts dancing. Then the forums would hear my rage.
When you consider that “survival of the fittest” refers to the most successful reproduction among members of a species in a given environment I’d have to say “no” as well.
The resurrector cannot be in combat… therefore combat interrupts revive for x period of time
Ugh… that would be like telling the medics to wait until the battle is over before they try to help the wounded.
hard revives should be out of combat only (WvW only).
This is a reasonable compromise….
Well, once you’re dead you’re technically not in combat anyhow, so isn’t it that way already?
Internally we pronounce it “See-ya-moth”, and since washingtonians speak perfect english as we remind our british design director Chris Whiteside daily, that’s clearly the only correct way to say it, so there ya go.
Speaking as a California transplant, I have two counter arguments:
1) It is called soda, not pop.
2) Bag and beg do not sound the same.Nice try, though.
Being originally from Massachusetts, it was (when I was a kid at least) tonic, not soda or pop. I remember driving the cah to the packy for some beeah…
I think in order to be revived in WvW you should have to type /please.
It’s only polite.
You liked the teen drama story of who can act the least mature in a situation that needs maturity, thought, and the ability to not waste time on stupid arguments(excluding Eir and Caithe the only 2 that actually had a level head and tried to get things done making them believable as leaders of their society). High school and middle school must of been a blast for you. Eir and Caithe were like the teachers trying to get the students to shut up and listen so they might actually get things done.
Are you trying to say that grownups can’t be stubborn or ignorant? Because you are greatly mistaken then. Destiny’s Edge aren’t exactly mad at each other over “who gets to go to the prom”. Someone died that shouldn’t had died. People in the real world get separated over less then that..
On topic: I was actually really starting to like the Flame & Frost story. Braham is pictured to be this tough norn, who’s the son of Eir, which fits for most of his story. But then at the end of his story, when you talk to Braham, he suddenly acts like a 10 year old boy, when he gets asked about a girl:
-So…who’s Ottilia?
-Ottilia? Who’s Ottilia? Well, she lives in Cragstead, and she’s… kind of beautiful. I mean sweet. She’s nice. Okay?
-Sounds like you’re sweet on her. Talk to you later.I really don’t understand who the writers have in mind, when they write this? There was a topic a while back, where players could write their age, and the majority of people who wrote in that topic were over 25 years old. This sentence sounds like it was written to an audience of 8-12 year olds. Why couldn’t they have written something on the lines of this:
-Who’s Ottilia?
-Ottilia? She’s the girl I grew up with. We’ve always been close. I asked her father permission to marry her, but…he said I wasn’t worthy yet. Maybe now I can prove to him, that I am. If they are still alive..
-I am sure they are. We will find them.Just imagine the fun if he burst into song!
-Who’s Ottilia?
-There’s a stead in the Shiverpeaks
In some crags, where the wind often shrieks
And the snow sometimes falls for weeks
But it’s what I call homeAnd there’s a girl in this frozen place
Oh so sweet with such a lovely face
And I long to feel her warm embrace
But her father hates my gutsI say there Ottilia, you’re a fine girl! (You’re a fine girl)
What a good wife you would be! (Such a fine girl!)
But your dad is just a big kitten who hates me!Just want you to know I found myself humming your song to a nice medieval tavern beat. That’s just cruel man, going to be humming this all day.
NEXT GW2 RACE: skirts
so we finally farm and grind for this game shinning.
GW2 where the value of a item depend on the shinnies and no the power.I realize your joking about this but the Skritt wouldn’t be playable simply do to how their IQ increases or decreases depending on how many of them are in the immediate area .
Inversely to that of humans, too.
I had one.
The other day, my daughter (12) bought a few unidentified dyes off the TP. Scored a Celestial. I helped her sell it, she’s quite happy with the 10 or 12 (I forget) gold she got for it.
For the record, I think SAB was very well done for what it was. It wasn’t novel; it’s all been done before in other games more than a few times. But it’s nicely executed.
That doesn’t mean it doesn’t conflict with the rest of the GW2 world, though. Imagine Mario stumbling into a Call of Duty, gritty realism with blood and gore and real world weaponry, and you get an idea of what I’m saying (some hyperbole notwithstanding).
How does it conflict with the rest of GW2? To paraphrase what someone posted elsewhere, the Asura built a capital city that floats over the landscape, they built magi-technical semi-autonomous golems, mega-lasers to fire at dragons and no one bats an eye… but the moment one invents a video game…
I use it because it makes me giggle.
So there.
I win.
Hm… sounds fun. Not sure how this could fit into our current plans, but I’ll think about it. I’m a HUGE fan of the original LoZ. It is THE game that made me realize what my career should be. I’m actually in the process of doing a personal remake of it with photographic art. I’ve been sculpting the creatures over the past several years as a hobby. You can check them out here:
By the gods, you’re a rare talent indeed. Amazing stuff!
Only one nit-pick… Shouldn’t the wedding cake toppers be smiling?
i say this for trolling xD this is not supermario, but i prefer finished all contents of real Gw2, and after other contents with "supermario " , super adventure box is very big content and time used for this i prefer used for finish pvp zone and other thinks
/facepalm
OK, let’s try this slow and easy. These little events, these holiday jumping puzzles and clock towers and chests that appear in the world, these pixellated bunnies and snakes and pumpkins and skins of myriad sorts… these ARE contents of real GW2. It’s all a part of the same whole, with it’s own cast and krewe spending countless hours to bring us their special and specific flavors to add to the Tyrian potpourri.
The Super Adventure Box is as much a part of GW2 (now) as Orr or WvW. It may be a piece that you like, it may not be one you favor, but it’s still a part of the greater whole.
Another one that fails to realize that this is GW2, and likely will have no idea what I’m talking about.
You can most likely take back your second place, but that will still be hard to hold after all BG even with the lose of 2 wvw guilds still have the abilty to take massive points in EU prime leading into NA.
Exactly, which is why SOR isn’t fighting for second. We just take what we can, and nothing will change until we get more coverage. If BG or JQ slacks off, we do better that week, because we never slack off.
If you’re third, you need to take second before you can take first.
It’s actually 26, so he isn’t far off. Us video gamers will be a dying breed eventually at this rate!
Quite the opposite, the audience is growing steadily. The constant marketing focus on the male, white late teens/early 20ies gamer is just utterly disproportionate to the actual distribution of demographics. Take a minute or two to read through http://www.theesa.com/facts/gameplayer.asp for some interesting numbers.
Cool, thanks for the link, will check it out. I had heard a few months ago VG’s were having trouble attracting a new audience, at least on the mmo side of things. Good to know I’ll have some people to play with even when I’m sitting in a rocking chair with an old laptop :p
Screw that. I’m having my rocking chair be manufactured by Alienware.
